person_n that_o pretend_v to_o be_v spiritual_a who_o when_o they_o fall_v into_o any_o defect_n can_v not_o nor_o will_v not_o be_v in_o quiet_a &_o some_o time_n by_o reason_n of_o this_o anxiety_n rather_o than_o for_o any_o other_o respect_n will_v needs_o out_o of_o hand_n go_v &_o seek_v their_o ghostly_a father_n unto_o who_o they_o ought_v to_o have_v recourse_n principal_o to_o wash_v thing_n mention_v before_o be_v necessary_a this_o exercise_n must_v be_v practise_v principal_o with_o the_o understanding_n and_o will._n the_o understanding_n must_v be_v keep_v from_o two_o thing_n from_o ignorance_n and_o from_o curiosity_n from_o ignorance_n that_o it_o may_v be_v bright_a and_o clear_a to_o know_v that_o which_o be_v necessary_a for_o the_o overcome_v of_o our_o vicious_a passion_n which_o light_n may_v be_v obtain_v two_o manner_n of_o way_n the_o first_o and_o principal_a be_v prayer_n pray_v unto_o the_o holy_a ghost_n that_o he_o will_v vouchsafe_v to_o have_v once_o place_v thaffection_n the_o understanding_n then_o do_v not_o discover_v the_o thing_n as_o it_o be_v for_o so_o much_o as_o that_o affection_n which_o be_v place_v in_o the_o midst_n darkness_n in_o such_o sort_n the_o understanding_n that_o it_o esteem_v better_a of_o the_o same_o than_o it_o be_v in_o effect_n and_o for_o such_o show_v it_o unto_o the_o will_n which_o by_o that_o be_v bring_v to_o love_v it_o more_o ardent_o by_o which_o increase_n of_o love_n the_o understanding_n be_v yet_o more_o blind_v and_o thus_o blind_v it_o make_v the_o thing_n to_o seem_v unto_o the_o will_n far_o more_o lovely_a and_o good_a then_o before_o whereby_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o these_o two_o power_n miserable_o continue_v ever_o to_o walk_v as_o in_o a_o circle_n dim_v and_o behold_v only_o their_o external_a act_n which_o be_v good_a they_o attribute_v to_o themselves_o many_o degree_n of_o perfection_n and_o thus_o puff_v uppe_o with_o pride_n they_o become_v judge_n of_o other_o and_o there_o be_v leave_v no_o mean_n of_o their_o conversion_n but_o by_o the_o extraordinary_a goodness_n and_o help_n of_o god_n for_o it_o be_v more_o easy_a to_o nothing_o and_o natural_a inclination_n to_o all_o evil_a in_o the_o hatred_n of_o ourselves_o and_o in_o the_o love_n of_o god_n in_o the_o full_a abnegation_n of_o our_o own_o will_n and_o in_o resign_v it_o to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n subiect_v ourselves_o not_o only_o to_o he_o but_o for_o his_o love_n to_o every_o creature_n and_o all_o this_o for_o no_o other_o end_n but_o only_o to_o please_v he_o and_o because_o he_o deserve_v thus_o to_o be_v love_v and_o serve_v this_o be_v the_o deny_v of_o ourselves_o which_o our_o redeemer_n do_v seek_v in_o us._n this_o be_v the_o prayer_n and_o lift_v uppe_o thy_o mind_n oft_o to_o god_n and_o above_o all_o suffer_v the_o burden_n of_o thy_o aridity_n thy_o dryness_n with_o patience_n and_o humble_a resignation_n for_o this_o little_a at_o un_o awares_o they_o begin_v to_o be_v persuade_v that_o they_o need_v not_o the_o counsel_n and_o direction_n of_o other_o a_o thing_n very_o dangerous_a and_o very_a hard_a to_o be_v cure_v the_o pride_n of_o the_o understanding_n be_v more_o dangerous_a than_o that_o of_o the_o will_n for_o he_o that_o be_v proud_a of_o will_n will_v sometime_o obey_v because_o he_o hould_v a_o move_v by_o the_o will_n of_o god_n nor_o to_o the_o end_n only_o he_o may_v have_v the_o same_o will_n with_o he_o but_o for_o some_o good_a or_o contentment_n which_o it_o derive_v from_o willing_a the_o thing_n will_v by_o god_n to_o avoid_v this_o snare_n which_o will_v hinder_v thou_o in_o the_o way_n of_o perfection_n and_o to_o accustom_v thou_o to_o will_v and_o work_v every_o thing_n both_o as_o move_v by_o god_n and_o with_o pure_a intention_n to_o please_v he_o only_o who_o will_v be_v only_o the_o beginning_n and_o final_a end_n of_o all_o our_o action_n and_o thought_n thou_o shall_v observe_v this_o manner_n when_o any_o thing_n will_v by_o god_n shall_v offer_v itself_o unto_o thou_o do_v not_o incline_v thy_o will_n unto_o it_o before_o thou_o have_v first_o lift_v thy_o under_o stand_v into_o god_n to_o see_v that_o it_o be_v his_o will_n that_o thou_o desire_v it_o both_o because_o his_o will_n be_v such_o and_o also_o to_o please_v he_o only_o and_o by_o this_o will_v thy_o will_n be_v move_v and_o draw_v let_v it_o afterward_o bend_v itself_o to_o will_n it_o as_o a_o thing_n will_v by_o god_n and_o for_o his_o good_a pleasure_n only_o and_o glory_n and_o in_o like_a manner_n when_o thou_o will_v refuse_v the_o thing_n not_o will_v by_o god_n refuse_v thou_o not_o until_o first_o thou_o haste_v fix_v the_o eye_n of_o thy_o mind_n on_o his_o divine_a will_n in_o such_o manner_n as_o we_o have_v say_v and_o consider_v that_o many_o time_n it_o shall_v seem_v unto_o thou_o that_o thou_o have_v this_o motive_n and_o yet_o it_o be_v not_o so_o for_o nature_n do_v secret_o seek_v itself_o wherefore_o it_o oftentimes_o happen_v that_o that_o which_o be_v will_v or_o be_v refuse_v mere_o or_o principal_o for_o our_o own_o interest_n do_v as_o i_o have_v say_v and_o when_o the_o long_a continuance_n of_o the_o say_a action_n bring_v danger_n to_o make_v this_o exercise_n forget_v take_v heed_n that_o thou_o renew_v it_o often_o and_o keep_v it_o wake_v even_o to_o the_o last_o to_o avoid_v the_o deceit_n of_o nature_n which_o be_v ever_o ready_a to_o turn_v to_o itself_o and_o therefore_o very_a often_o in_o process_n of_o time_n alter_v the_o object_n and_o change_v the_o end_n of_o our_o work_n the_o servant_n of_o god_n which_o be_v not_o circumspect_a in_o this_o many_o time_n begin_v a_o work_n with_o a_o motion_n for_o to_o please_v his_o lord_n only_o but_o after_o by_o little_a and_o little_a not_o take_v heed_n to_o himself_o hold_v on_o in_o such_o sort_n delight_v in_o the_o same_o that_o he_o forget_v the_o divine_a pleasure_n and_o do_v so_o convert_v himself_o to_o this_o delight_n or_o some_o profit_n or_o honour_n that_o may_v happen_v unto_o he_o that_o if_o the_o same_o god_n do_v hinder_v he_o by_o infirmity_n or_o other_o accident_n or_o by_o the_o mean_n of_o any_o of_o his_o creature_n he_o remain_v whole_o trouble_v disquiet_v and_o malecontente_a and_o with_o great_a difficulty_n be_v he_o draw_v to_o will_v so_o much_o as_o his_o lord_n will_v have_v of_o he_o wherefore_o recollect_v thyself_o well_o and_o keep_v always_o this_o holy_a motive_n quick_a and_o lively_a in_o all_o usual_o signify_v by_o these_o name_n of_o sense_n appetite_n flesh_n and_o passion_n and_o although_o both_o these_o may_v be_v call_v will_n yet_o nevertheless_o because_o reason_v it_o
be_v which_o make_v we_o man_n when_o we_o will_v any_o thing_n with_o the_o sense_n only_o it_o be_v not_o understand_v that_o it_o be_v true_o will_v by_o we_o until_o such_o time_n as_o we_o incline_v by_o our_o superior_a will_n to_o will_v it_o hereupon_o all_o our_o spiritual_a battle_n principal_o consist_v in_o this_o that_o this_o superior_a will_n be_v place_v as_o in_o the_o midst_n between_o the_o divine_a will_n which_o stand_v above_o and_o the_o inferior_a which_o be_v that_o of_o the_o sense_n continual_o assault_v by_o the_o one_o and_o the_o other_o whilst_o either_o of_o these_o assay_v to_o draw_v it_o and_o to_o make_v it_o subject_a and_o obedient_a unto_o they_o to_o those_o that_o have_v already_o get_v the_o habit_n of_o virtue_n or_o vice_n and_o intend_v always_o to_o proceed_v in_o the_o same_o this_o fight_n be_v not_o painful_a for_o the_o virtuous_a easy_o agree_v unto_o the_o divine_a will_n the_o other_o follow_v that_o of_o the_o sense_n without_o any_o difficulty_n but_o they_o which_o be_v full_a of_o the_o evil_a habit_n of_o vice_n especial_o in_o the_o beginning_n find_v great_a pain_n and_o travel_n when_o they_o resolve_v to_o change_v their_o wicked_a life_n into_o a_o better_a and_o take_v themselves_o from_o the_o world_n and_o from_o the_o flesh_n do_v give_v themselves_o to_o the_o love_n and_o service_n of_o jesus_n christ._n for_o the_o stroke_n which_o the_o superior_a will_n than_o sustain_v of_o the_o divine_a will_n and_o of_o the_o inferior_a which_o always_o be_v skirmish_v with_o it_o be_v mighty_a and_o strong_a and_o make_v it_o well_o to_o feel_v they_o not_o without_o great_a noyance_n of_o the_o combatant_n none_o may_v presume_v ever_o to_o arrive_v to_o any_o degree_n of_o virtue_n nor_o to_o be_v able_a to_o serve_v god_n if_o he_o will_v not_o labour_v in_o good_a earnest_n and_o support_v the_o pain_n which_o be_v to_o be_v feel_v in_o leave_v those_o delight_n whereunto_o at_o first_o his_o affection_n be_v fast_o tie_v hence_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o very_o few_o attain_n to_o the_o state_n of_o perfection_n because_o like_o cowardly_a soldier_n they_o will_v not_o stand_v fast_o and_o constant_o fight_v and_o suffer_v the_o dint_n which_o the_o resistance_n of_o a_o infinite_a number_n of_o their self_o will_v bring_v with_o it_o which_o do_v always_o fight_v against_o they_o but_o retire_v back_o leave_v their_o weapon_n and_o themselves_o in_o the_o power_n of_o their_o enemy_n who_o tyrannize_v over_o they_o here_o be_v lay_v open_a a_o deceit_n by_o so_o much_o the_o more_o dangerous_a as_o it_o be_v less_o perceive_v that_o many_o which_o attend_v to_o the_o spiritual_a life_n be_v lover_n of_o themselves_o more_o than_o be_v requisite_a and_o yet_o in_o truth_n they_o know_v not_o how_o to_o love_v themselves_o for_o the_o most_o part_n choose_v those_o exercise_n which_o most_o do_v please_v their_o taste_n and_o they_o leave_v the_o other_o which_o touch_v the_o quick_a of_o their_o natural_a inclination_n and_o sensual_a appetite_n against_o the_o which_o all_o reason_n will_v they_o shall_v turn_v all_o the_o force_n of_o their_o fight_n of_o the_o manner_n how_o to_o fight_v against_o the_o motion_n of_o our_o sensuality_n and_o of_o the_o action_n which_o the_o will_n have_v to_o bring_v forth_o for_o to_o make_v the_o habit_n of_o virtue_n chap._n 7._o whensoever_o thou_o be_v assault_v by_o the_o will_n of_o the_o sense_n that_o thou_o may_v draw_v near_o to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n which_o knock_v and_o call_v upon_o thou_o to_o the_o end_n thou_o may_v oppose_v thyself_o and_o make_v resistance_n against_o thy_o sensuality_n in_o diverse_a manner_n thou_o must_v exercise_v thyself_o first_o when_o thou_o be_v assault_v by_o the_o sense_n it_o behoove_v thou_o to_o resist_v couragiouslye_o that_o the_o superior_a will_n consent_v not_o to_o his_o motion_n second_o when_o they_o be_v cease_v thou_o must_v stir_v they_o up_o again_o in_o thou_o to_o repress_v they_o with_o great_a violence_n afterward_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o thou_o recall_v they_o to_o another_o new_a combat_n to_o the_o end_n that_o thou_o may_v drive_v they_o from_o thou_o with_o a_o certain_a disdain_n and_o abhor_v these_o two_o stir_n up_o and_o and_o provocation_n to_o battle_n thou_o must_v use_v in_o every_o passion_n and_o disordinate_a appetite_n except_o in_o carnal_a motion_n whereof_o i_o will_v speak_v hereafter_o in_o their_o place_n last_o of_o all_o thou_o must_v make_v for_o example_n if_o one_o give_v thou_o occasion_n of_o impatience_n thou_o ought_v not_o to_o content_v thyself_o to_o drive_v away_o this_o passion_n but_o moreover_o thou_o must_v desire_v often_o and_o very_o often_o to_o be_v provoke_v in_o the_o same_o manner_n and_o by_o the_o same_o person_n enforce_v thyself_o to_o feel_v contentment_n in_o the_o former_a travail_n expect_v and_o purpose_v to_o suffer_v as_o yet_o much_o great_a and_o if_o the_o virtue_n be_v such_o as_o do_v require_v it_o thou_o must_v also_o put_v in_o practice_v the_o exterior_a work_n thereof_o as_o in_o the_o example_n afore_o say_v use_v towards_o he_o which_o molest_v thou_o word_n of_o humility_n and_o love_n show_v thyself_o ready_a according_a to_o thy_o estate_n to_o do_v he_o any_o pleasure_n or_o service_n and_o although_o these_o work_n accompany_v with_o so_o great_a faintness_n and_o weakness_n of_o spirit_n that_o it_o shall_v seem_v thou_o do_v the_o same_o whole_o against_o thy_o will_n yet_o thou_o must_v not_o in_o any_o case_n leave_v it_o undo_v for_o although_o they_o be_v never_o so_o feeble_a yet_o they_o keep_v thou_o firm_a in_o the_o battle_n and_o make_v thou_o way_n to_o obtain_v the_o victory_n and_o further_o thou_o must_v observe_v that_o thou_o ought_v not_o only_o in_o the_o aforesaid_a manner_n to_o fight_v against_o the_o great_a and_o effectual_a will_n of_o any_o vice_n but_o also_o against_o the_o little_a and_o slow_a motion_n of_o the_o same_o vice_n for_o these_o be_v they_o which_o open_v the_o way_n to_o the_o great_a which_o work_n afterward_o in_o we_o the_o vicious_a habit_n and_o of_o the_o little_a care_n which_o some_o have_v have_v to_o root_v out_o these_o little_a will_n after_o they_o have_v overcome_v the_o great_a patience_n and_o meekness_n with_o the_o which_o he_o suffer_v so_o great_a affliction_n never_o satisfy_v for_o all_o that_o in_o his_o great_a desire_n of_o suffer_v for_o the_o honour_n of_o his_o father_n and_o our_o benefit_n great_a and_o more_o cruel_a torment_n behold_v he_o afterward_o how_o he_o be_v inflame_v with_o a_o fervent_a desire_n that_o thou_o resolve_v willing_o to_o suffer_v thy_o present_a travail_n and_o how_o he_o turn_v to_o his_o father_n and_o pray_v for_o thou_o that_o he_o will_v vouchsafe_v to_o give_v thou_o grace_n to_o suffer_v patient_o the_o cross_n that_o then_o thou_o do_v sustain_v and_o what_o other_o thing_n whatsoever_o afterward_o bend_v thy_o will_n many_o time_n to_o resolve_v to_o suffer_v turn_v thy_o mind_n to_o god_n the_o father_n and_o may_v also_o pray_v and_o meditate_v in_o any_o other_o manner_n and_o that_o be_v this_o when_o thou_o shall_v have_v consider_v attentive_o the_o passion_n and_o the_o travail_n which_o thy_o saviour_n do_v suffer_v and_o have_v apply_v thy_o sense_n to_o feel_v they_o and_o with_o thy_o thought_n penetrate_v the_o promptness_n of_o mind_n wherewith_o he_o do_v suffer_v from_o the_o greatness_n of_o his_o sorrow_n and_o of_o his_o patience_n thou_o shall_v proceed_v to_o two_o other_o consideration_n the_o one_o of_o the_o merit_n of_o the_o same_o saviour_n other_o of_o the_o contentment_n of_o the_o eternal_a father_n that_o he_o take_v in_o the_o perfect_a obedience_n of_o his_o son_n the_o which_o two_o thing_n represent_v to_o the_o same_o father_n in_o their_o virtue_n thou_o shall_v demand_v the_o grace_n that_o thou_o desire_v and_o this_o like_a demand_n thou_o may_v make_v not_o only_o in_o every_o mystery_n but_o also_o in_o every_o particular_a 25._o beside_o the_o aforesaid_a there_o be_v another_o way_n to_o meditate_v &_o pray_v by_o mean_n of_o the_o most_o holy_a mother_n of_o our_o lord_n turn_v first_o thy_o mind_n to_o the_o father_n afterward_o to_o the_o son_n and_o last_o of_o all_o to_o the_o say_v glorious_a virgin_n touch_v the_o father_n consider_v two_o thing_n &_o present_v they_o before_o he_o that_o be_v the_o delight_n which_o from_o the_o beginning_n he_o of_o himself_o do_v take_v in_o she_o even_o before_o she_o have_v she_o be_v in_o this_o world_n and_o in_o her_o virtue_n and_o action_n after_o she_o be_v bring_v forth_o into_o the_o world_n about_o the_o delight_n thou_o shall_v thus_o meditate_v lift_v up_o thyself_o on_o high_a with_o thy_o think_n above_o all_o time_n and_o above_o every_o creature_n and_o be_v enter_v into_o the_o very_a eternity_n and_o mind_n of_o god_n consider_v the_o delight_n and_o joy_n that_o himself_o do_v take_v in_o the_o virgin_n mary_n &_o her_o perfection_n and_o find_v god_n amid_o these_o delight_n by_o the_o virtue_n of_o they_o secure_o demand_v grace_n and_o force_v to_o destroy_v thy_o enemy_n and_o particular_o that_o enemy_n which_o do_v then_o assail_v thou_o proceed_v afterwards_o to_o the_o consideration_n of_o she_o so_o great_a and_o singular_a virtue_n and_o action_n sometime_o present_a unto_o the_o sight_n of_o the_o so_o poor_a the_o arm_n which_o embrace_v he_o the_o kiss_v she_o give_v he_o the_o milk_n wherewith_o she_o nourish_v he_o the_o great_a travel_n and_o sorrow_n that_o in_o his_o life_n and_o at_o saturday_n the_o virgin_n with_o the_o other_o holy_a woman_n but_o omit_v not_o any_o day_n to_o have_v recourse_n to_o the_o glorious_a virgin_n to_o thy_o angel_n guardian_n to_o s._n michael_n the_o archangel_n and_o to_o some_o other_o saint_n to_o who_o thou_o must_v have_v par_fw-fr ticular_a devotion_n of_o meditation_n of_o christ_n crucify_v to_o stir_v up_o our_o affection_n chap._n move_v thou_o to_o admiration_n consider_v attentive_o who_o he_o be_v that_o suffer_v to_o wit_n the_o word_n incarnate_a the_o same_o god_n who_o for_o thou_o be_v make_v man_n for_o who_o he_o suffer_v for_o we_o most_o vile_a creature_n that_o always_o have_v offend_v he_o of_o who_o he_o suffer_v of_o all_o kind_n of_o most_o wicked_a people_n and_o the_o refuse_v of_o the_o common_a sort_n the_o pain_n that_o he_o suffer_v and_o they_o be_v most_o unworthy_a full_a of_o shame_n and_o of_o torment_n great_a and_o horrible_a above_o all_o estimation_n and_o that_o thou_o may_v more_o marvel_n weigh_v well_o the_o manner_n and_o the_o mind_n wherewith_o he_o suffer_v but_o believe_v that_o thou_o be_v not_o able_a to_o comprehend_v it_o as_o it_o be_v indeed_o since_o that_o it_o pass_v all_o understanding_n how_o that_o poor_a and_o most_o humble_a saviour_n among_o so_o many_o anguish_v and_o shame_v show_v a_o in_o vincible_a patience_n &_o towards_o those_o cruel_a mind_n fierce_a and_o enrage_a against_o he_o he_o always_o keep_v the_o same_o heart_n full_a of_o sweetness_n and_o pure_a love_n of_o sensible_a devotion_n and_o of_o ariditie_n or_o drienesse_n not_o to_o dispute_v from_o whence_o it_o come_v nor_o leave_v unto_o it_o neither_o let_v thyself_o be_v draw_v from_o the_o knowledge_n of_o thy_o nothing_o and_o with_o great_a diligence_n &_o hatred_n of_o thyself_o remove_v from_o thy_o heart_n all_o affection_n of_o what_o thing_n soever_o desire_v god_n only_o and_o his_o pleasure_n for_o by_o this_o mean_a whether_o it_o be_v of_o nature_n or_o of_o the_o devil_n it_o will_v become_v to_o thou_o as_o of_o grace_n ariditie_n or_o drienesse_n may_v proceed_v in_o like_a manner_n from_o the_o three_o aforesaid_a cause_n from_o the_o devil_n for_o to_o make_v thy_o mind_n lukewarm_a and_o draw_v it_o back_o from_o the_o spiritual_a exercise_n to_o worldly_a delight_n of_o ourselves_o through_o our_o fault_n and_o negligence_n of_o grace_n either_o to_o admonish_v we_o that_o we_o be_v more_o diligent_a to_o leave_v every_o occupation_n that_o be_v not_o of_o god_n and_o that_o tend_v not_o to_o he_o or_o to_o unite_v ourselves_o more_o near_o unto_o he_o with_o a_o full_a resignation_n of_o ourselves_o even_o in_o spiritual_a delight_n to_o the_o end_n that_o our_o affection_n be_v fasten_v to_o these_o thing_n we_o may_v not_o divide_v our_o hart_n which_o he_o will_v have_v whole_o to_o himself_o therefore_o if_o thou_o feel_v thyself_o dry_a or_o cold_a enter_v into_o thyself_o &_o see_v for_o seem_v unto_o thou_o never_o so_o unprofitable_a and_o be_v willing_a to_o drink_v of_o that_o bitter_a cup_n which_o that_o dryness_n present_v unto_o thou_o the_o which_o although_o it_o shall_v that_o the_o next_o day_n follow_v thou_o do_v open_v thy_o heart_n unto_o he_o that_o he_o may_v enter_v and_o abide_v with_o thou_o and_o sup_v with_o thou_o and_o delight_v himself_o together_o with_o thou_o whereupon_o thou_o shall_v stir_v up_o in_o thyself_o a_o desire_n to_o receive_v he_o with_o these_o iaculatory_a prayer_n ah_o heavenly_a and_o divine_a manna_n when_o shall_v that_o hour_n come_v that_o i_o may_v receive_v thou_o to_o thy_o contentment_n when_o shall_v i_o be_v unite_v unto_o thou_o by_o true_a love_n when_o for_o thou_o o_o life_n of_o my_o soul_n shall_v i_o like_a manner_n talk_v with_o thy_o saviour_n o_o king_n of_o king_n what_o have_v bring_v thou_o unto_o i_o that_o be_o wretched_a miserable_a poor_a blind_a and_o naked_a and_o he_o will_v answer_v thou_o love_n o_o love_n uncreated_a o_o sweet_a love_n what_o desire_v thou_o of_o i_o no_o other_o thing_n say_v he_o but_o love_n no_o other_o fire_n will_v i_o have_v to_o burn_v in_o the_o thyself_o i_o demand_v of_o thou_o the_o hatred_n of_o thyself_o for_o to_o give_v thou_o my_o love_n i_o demand_v thy_o heart_n that_o it_o may_v enter_v and_o unite_v itself_o with_o i_o for_o this_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o i_o be_v open_v upon_o the_o cross_n i_o desire_v of_o thou_o o_o my_o love_a soul_n that_o thou_o will_v nothing_o think_v nothing_o understand_v nothing_o see_v nothing_o out_o of_o i_o so_o that_o i_o also_o may_v will_n understand_v think_v and_o see_v all_o thing_n in_o thou_o in_o such_o manner_n that_o thy_o nothing_o may_v be_v swallow_v up_o in_o the_o depth_n of_o my_o infinite_a goodness_n and_o be_v convert_v into_o it_o and_o thus_o thou_o shall_v be_v in_o i_o most_o happy_a and_o i_o content_a in_o thou_o in_o the_o end_n after_o this_o thou_o shall_v offer_v to_o god_n the_o father_n his_o son_n for_o thyself_o for_o the_o whole_a world_n and_o for_o the_o soul_n depart_v with_o the_o memory_n and_o union_n of_o that_o oblation_n which_o then_o he_o make_v of_o himself_o when_o he_o hang_v bloody_a upon_o the_o cross_n and_o thou_o may_v in_o this_o manner_n offer_v up_o all_o the_o sacrifice_n which_o be_v offer_v up_o that_o day_n in_o the_o holy_a church_n of_o spiritual_a receive_v chap._n 31._o although_o thou_o can_v not_o receive_v thy_o saviour_n more_o than_o once_o a_o day_n sacramental_o notwithstanding_o thou_o may_v receive_v he_o spiritual_o every_o hour_n and_o moment_n and_o this_o can_v be_v take_v from_o any_o creature_n but_o by_o their_o own_o negligence_n or_o other_o voluntary_a fault_n and_o sometime_o it_o may_v prove_v that_o this_o spiritual_a receive_n shall_v be_v more_o profitable_a to_o ourselves_o and_o acceptable_a to_o god_n than_o many_o other_o sacramental_a receiving_n in_o respect_n of_o the_o want_n and_o defect_n of_o they_o that_o receive_v therefore_o how_o oft_o soever_o thou_o shall_v dispose_v and_o prepare_v thyself_o to_o this_o spiritual_a receive_n thou_o shall_v find_v the_o son_n of_o god_n ready_a with_o his_o own_o proper_a hand_n to_o feed_v thou_o spiritual_o with_o himself_o and_o thou_o may_v prepare_v thyself_o in_o this_o manner_n turn_v thyself_o to_o he_o for_o this_o end_n and_o brief_o consider_v thy_o defect_n be_v sorry_a that_o thou_o have_v offend_v he_o and_o with_o a_o love_a affection_n crave_v of_o he_o that_o he_o will_v vouchsafe_v to_o come_v into_o thy_o poor_a soul_n to_o feed_v it_o with_o himself_o or_o otherwise_o when_o thou_o go_v about_o to_o use_v violence_n to_o thyself_o or_o to_o mortify_v any_o passion_n in_o thou_o or_o to_o exercise_v any_o act_n of_o virtue_n do_v it_o to_o this_o end_n and_o turn_v thou_o to_o thy_o saviour_n and_o call_v upon_o he_o with_o a_o fervent_a desire_n in_o the_o secret_a of_o thy_o soul_n or_o again_o final_o call_v to_o mind_v the_o last_o time_n that_o thou_o do_v receive_v before_o say_v with_o a_o inflame_a desire_n when_o my_o god_n shall_v i_o receive_v thou_o another_o time_n in_o the_o scrament_n of_o the_o altar_n ah_o why_o come_v thou_o not_o now_o with_o the_o same_o virtue_n spiritual_o unto_o i_o of_o thanksgiving_n chap._n 32._o
