it_o be_v a_o know_a saying_n scire_fw-la tuum_fw-la vihil_fw-la est_fw-la nisi_fw-la te_fw-la scire_fw-la he_o sciat_fw-la alter_fw-la and_o true_o i_o be_o apt_a to_o think_v there_o may_v be_v something_o of_o truth_n in_o it_o those_o man_n that_o exercise_v their_o wit_n in_o curious_a mathematical_a speculation_n can_v they_o be_v assure_v that_o their_o invention_n and_o discovery_n shall_v never_o come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o any_o creature_n but_o themselves_o i_o doubt_v whether_o the_o pleasure_n of_o the_o invention_n will_v in_o their_o own_o esteem_n compensate_a the_o labour_n anâ—_n toil_n of_o the_o inquisition_n but_o yet_o even_o in_o this_o state_n thus_o much_o may_v be_v say_v in_o commendation_n of_o knowledge_n that_o it_o do_v advance_v and_o enlarge_v the_o understanding_n and_o render_v the_o soul_n capable_a of_o a_o great_a degree_n of_o happiness_n as_o i_o have_v say_v before_o but_o in_o the_o world_n to_o come_v the_o vision_n of_o god_n can_v be_v separate_v from_o his_o love_n such_o a_o knowledge_n of_o god_n will_v transform_v the_o bless_a soul_n to_o who_o it_o shall_v be_v communicate_v into_o his_o holy_a image_n we_o shall_v bâ—_n like_o he_o say_v the_o apostle_n for_o we_o shall_v see_v he_o as_o he_o be_v none_o shall_v be_v admit_v to_o this_o sight_n but_o those_o that_o be_v pure_a in_o heart_n without_o holiness_n no_o man_n shall_v see_v god_n and_o to_o these_o the_o clear_a understanding_n of_o all_o the_o work_n of_o god_n both_o of_o creation_n and_o providence_n will_v stir_v upt_a he_o most_o exalt_a affection_n of_o admiration_n love_n and_o joy_n but_o i_o shall_v not_o proceed_v further_o in_o my_o own_o word_n to_o describe_v the_o happiness_n of_o a_o future_a â—state_n or_o eternal_a life_n because_o i_o find_v it_o so_o full_o and_o clear_o do_v by_o the_o right_n reverend_a dr._n patrick_n now_o lord_n bishop_n of_o ely_n in_o his_o treatise_n of_o the_o witness_n to_o christianity_n part_v 2d_o that_o i_o have_v nothing_o material_a to_o add_v to_o it_o therefore_o i_o shall_v transcribe_v thence_o what_o he_o have_v concern_v the_o love_n of_o god_n for_o the_o therefore_o as_o the_o understanding_n than_o shall_v most_o clear_o know_v he_o so_o the_o will_n in_o like_a manner_n shall_v most_o ardent_o love_v he_o and_o find_v perfect_a satisfaction_n in_o that_o love_n there_o be_v a_o necessary_a connexion_n between_o these_o thing_n and_o it_o can_v be_v otherwise_o but_o that_o from_o the_o best_a good_a clear_o know_v there_o will_v flow_v the_o great_a love_n draw_v along_o with_o it_o the_o great_a delight_n and_o the_o most_o perfect_a repose_n and_o therefore_o to_o see_v god_n contain_v in_o its_o notion_n both_o love_n and_o delectation_n with_o rest_n and_o satisfaction_n love_v natural_o flow_v from_o thence_o as_o from_o its_o fountain_n and_o the_o other_o natural_o flow_v from_o love_n which_o be_v the_o high_a act_n of_o that_o faculty_n which_o we_o call_v the_o will_n as_o know_v and_o contemplate_v be_v of_o the_o understanding_n desire_v indeed_o be_v the_o first_o motion_n of_o it_o when_o any_o thing_n be_v apprehend_v to_o be_v good_a for_o we_o but_o that_o will_v there_o be_v quench_v in_o possession_n and_o enjoyment_n and_o no_o more_o of_o it_o can_v be_v conceive_v to_o remain_v than_o a_o longing_n for_o the_o continuance_n and_o increase_n of_o this_o happiness_n which_o yet_o will_v be_v so_o certain_a that_o we_o shall_v be_v rather_o confident_a than_o desirous_a the_o will_v therefore_o have_v such_o a_o glorious_a object_n always_o before_o it_o will_v be_v whole_o employ_v in_o love_n and_o spend_v itself_o without_o any_o decay_n in_o flame_n of_o affection_n towards_o this_o universal_a good_a which_o shine_v so_o fair_o and_o bright_o in_o its_o eye_n it_o will_v apply_v itself_o to_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o it_o with_o as_o great_a a_o vehemency_n as_o it_o can_v and_o
