brief_o and_o they_o be_v the_o affection_n of_o love_n and_o joy_n as_o to_o the_o affection_n of_o love_n it_o be_v well_o know_v unto_o all_o what_o be_v a_o christian_n command_a duty_n namely_o to_o love_v the_o lord_n our_o god_n with_o all_o our_o heart_n with_o all_o our_o soul_n with_o all_o our_o mind_n and_o with_o all_o our_o strength_n and_o this_o love_n to_o god_n operate_a by_o love_n to_o our_o neighbour_n be_v so_o acceptable_a a_o duty_n that_o it_o be_v call_v by_o the_o apostle_n the_o fulfil_n of_o the_o law_n but_o alas_o how_o do_v the_o best_a of_o god_n servant_n fall_v short_a in_o this_o respect_n when_o all_o they_o attain_v to_o be_v only_o to_o love_n god_n in_o sincerity_n and_o with_o some_o degree_n of_o prevalency_n above_o all_o other_o enjoyment_n but_o to_o love_n god_n so_o as_o to_o desire_v he_o so_o as_o to_o rejoice_v and_o delight_v in_o he_o above_o all_o other_o thing_n with_o the_o utmost_a extremity_n of_o love_n and_o affection_n in_o perpetuity_n and_o constancy_n oh_o where_o be_v the_o soul_n that_o can_v be_v find_v that_o do_v sol_fw-mi vain_a and_o foolish_a yea_o sinful_a object_n also_o entangle_v our_o affection_n and_o draw_v away_o our_o heart_n from_o god_n to_o a_o overloving_a and_o delight_v in_o they_o and_o to_o a_o impair_n and_o weaken_n of_o our_o love_n and_o affection_n towards_o god_n how_o often_o do_v we_o meet_v with_o such_o complaint_n as_o these_o in_o the_o mouth_n of_o god_n people_n oh_o that_o we_o can_v love_v god_n more_o oh_o that_o we_o can_v love_v christ_n more_o but_o alas_o we_o can_v their_o faith_n discover_v to_o they_o a_o wonderful_a amiableness_n in_o god_n and_o christ_n which_o draw_v out_o the_o desire_n of_o their_o soul_n after_o they_o so_o say_v the_o apostle_n to_o you_o that_o believe_v he_o be_v precious_a or_o desirable_a but_o yet_o they_o find_v they_o can_v love_v god_n as_o they_o ought_v nor_o as_o they_o desire_v to_o do_v for_o by_o reason_n of_o that_o earthliness_n that_o be_v still_o in_o they_o their_o heart_n and_o affection_n be_v divide_v and_o carry_v out_o after_o other_o object_n so_o that_o as_o the_o apostle_n complain_v they_o can_v do_v the_o thing_n that_o they_o will_v but_o now_o in_o heaven_n these_o complaint_n shall_v cease_v and_o all_o the_o disorder_n and_o irregularity_n of_o the_o affection_n shall_v be_v cure_v and_o the_o soul_n shall_v perfect_o and_o everlasting_o love_n god_n and_o contemplate_v the_o excellency_n and_o perfection_n that_o be_v in_o he_o with_o unspeakable_a delight_n and_o satisfaction_n for_o where_o ever_o there_o be_v the_o act_n of_o these_o affection_n it_o always_o carry_v much_o pleasure_n and_o delight_n along_o with_o it_o especial_o where_o the_o object_n belove_v be_v deserve_v and_o the_o affection_n be_v strong_a towards_o it_o now_o in_o heaven_n the_o object_n be_v most_o deserve_a to_o be_v belove_v for_o it_o be_v the_o ever_o bless_a god_n and_o the_o affection_n of_o the_o soul_n will_v be_v strong_a for_o there_o love_n shall_v be_v in_o its_o height_n and_o perfection_n and_o that_o which_o result_v from_o hence_o must_v be_v infinite_a satisfaction_n and_o delight_n unto_o the_o soul_n so_o that_o it_o can_v choose_v but_o it_o must_v love_v god_n there_o holy_a soul_n shall_v have_v continual_a view_n of_o the_o perfect_a beauty_n of_o he_o who_o be_v altogether_o lovely_a yea_o who_o be_v love_n itself_o the_o sight_n of_o who_o will_v not_o only_o wonderful_o draw_v their_o heart_n and_o affection_n towards_o he_o but_o fill_v their_o soul_n with_o continual_a ravishment_n of_o love_n and_o joy_n in_o he_o so_o that_o it_o be_v impossible_a they_o shall_v do_v otherwise_o than_o rejoice_v and_o delight_n in_o he_o o_o this_o life_n of_o love_n which_o saint_n always_o live_v in_o heaven_n it_o be_v that_o which_o fill_v they_o with_o unspeakable_a satisfaction_n and_o contentment_n yea_o love_n in_o heaven_n be_v that_o which_o will_v be_v both_o the_o work_n and_o the_o reward_n of_o a_o saint_n at_o once_o and_o that_o in_o constancy_n and_o perpetuity_n and_o so_o for_o a_o saint_n joy_n which_o be_v another_o affection_n of_o the_o soul_n how_o irregular_o do_v it_o frequent_o act_n we_o rejoice_v when_o we_o shall_v mourn_v and_o we_o mourn_v when_o we_o shall_v rejoice_v or_o if_o not_o so_o yet_o we_o often_o exceed_v in_o our_o joy_n and_o delight_n common_o it_o be_v with_o we_o in_o our_o enjoyment_n of_o the_o world_n as_o it_o be_v with_o we_o in_o our_o loss_n in_o the_o world_n when_o we_o lose_v the_o comfort_n of_o the_o world_n we_o over_o grieve_v and_o be_v cast_v down_o so_o excessive_o as_o if_o we_o have_v nothing_o leave_v to_o take_v any_o delight_n or_o comfort_n in_o and_o just_o so_o be_v it_o with_o we_o in_o our_o enjoyment_n of_o the_o world_n when_o god_n bless_v we_o with_o outward_a comfort_n we_o overlove_v and_o delight_v in_o they_o so_o that_o that_o which_o god_n give_v we_o to_o draw_v our_o heart_n near_o to_o himself_o by_o the_o excess_n of_o our_o joy_n and_o delight_n in_o they_o takes_z away_o our_o heart_n more_o from_o he_o insomuch_o that_o we_o be_v more_o forgetful_a of_o god_n by_o our_o inordinate_a rejoice_n in_o what_o he_o bestow_v upon_o we_o a_o very_a evil_n and_o ungrateful_a return_n unto_o god_n for_o his_o kindness_n to_o we_o but_o yet_o it_o be_v that_o which_o we_o be_v very_o inclinable_a unto_o hence_o therefore_o be_v it_o that_o we_o be_v so_o often_o caution_v against_o all_o excessive_a thing_n than_o be_v due_a to_o they_o that_o it_o be_v almost_o necessary_a to_o lay_v a_o command_n upon_o they_o not_o to_o love_v the_o world_n at_o all_o such_o a_o proneness_n be_v there_o in_o the_o best_a of_o christian_n to_o transgress_v when_o any_o allowance_n be_v give_v unto_o these_o carnal_a heart_n and_o affection_n of_o we_o towards_o worldly_a enjoyment_n it_o be_v true_a a_o believer_n be_v not_o only_o allow_v but_o command_v to_o rejoice_v yea_o and_o to_o rejoice_v always_o and_o none_o have_v more_o cause_n so_o to_o do_v than_o he_o but_o it_o be_v not_o in_o the_o person_n or_o thing_n of_o this_o world_n but_o in_o god_n so_o run_v the_o command_n 1_o thes_n 5._o rejoice_v always_o in_o the_o lord_n and_o again_o i_o say_v rejoice_v but_o yet_o all_o rejoice_n in_o outward_a enjoyment_n be_v not_o forbid_v he_o neither_o a_o christian_a who_o be_v accept_v of_o god_n may_v as_o the_o wise_a man_n speak_v eat_v his_o bread_n with_o joy_n and_o drink_v his_o wine_n with_o a_o merry_a heart_n eccles_n 4.7_o that_o be_v he_o may_v rejoice_v and_o be_v cheerful_a in_o the_o use_n of_o those_o comfort_n and_o refreshment_n that_o god_n bestow_v upon_o he_o but_o yet_o in_o the_o great_a abundance_n of_o they_o his_o moderation_n ought_v to_o be_v know_v unto_o all_o man_n and_o still_o he_o must_v rejoice_v in_o they_o as_o if_o he_o rejoice_v not_o bound_n and_o limit_n that_o god_n allow_v they_o let_v out_o their_o heart_n and_o affection_n inordinate_o towards_o they_o but_o now_o in_o heaven_n these_o delightful_a affection_n of_o the_o soul_n shall_v be_v regulate_v a_o saint_n joy_v there_o shall_v be_v always_o right_o place_v and_o due_o bound_v god_n will_v there_o be_v the_o only_a object_n of_o our_o joy_n and_o the_o right_a bound_a of_o our_o joy_n
arise_v again_o for_o their_o justification_n and_o glorification_n that_o this_o be_v he_o that_o with_o the_o price_n of_o his_o own_o blood_n not_o only_o buy_v their_o pardon_n but_o purchase_v that_o glorious_a inheritance_n for_o they_o which_o now_o they_o be_v instate_v into_o the_o possession_n of_o this_o must_v needs_o put_v a_o new_a life_n of_o joy_n into_o their_o soul_n and_o create_v a_o new_a kind_n of_o happiness_n in_o they_o which_o they_o never_o be_v acquaint_v with_o nor_o be_v it_o possible_a for_o they_o to_o understand_v before_o christ_n be_v the_o desire_n of_o all_o nation_n the_o joy_n of_o angel_n the_o delight_n of_o god_n himself_o he_o in_o who_o he_o be_v always_o well_o please_v all_o the_o glory_n and_o happiness_n of_o heaven_n be_v wrap_v up_o in_o he_o the_o treasure_n of_o the_o divine_a wisdom_n love_n and_o kindness_n which_o be_v sometime_o hide_v and_o conceal_v be_v now_o lay_v open_a in_o heaven_n to_o the_o view_n of_o all_o the_o saint_n o_o with_o what_o ravish_v joy_n and_o delight_n than_o must_v those_o soul_n be_v eternal_o fill_v with_o that_o live_v in_o the_o sight_n &_o possession_n of_o he_o as_o they_o for_o ever_o be_v not_o his_o love_n better_o than_o wine_n will_v not_o the_o lift_n up_o of_o the_o light_n of_o his_o countenance_n upon_o the_o soul_n administer_v more_o cause_n of_o joy_n and_o rejoice_v than_o the_o great_a increase_n of_o all_o worldly_a enjoyment_n whatsoever_o o_o be_v not_o this_o the_o language_n of_o holy_a soul_n his_o love_n be_v life_n yea_o his_o love_a kindness_n be_v better_a than_o life_n o_o how_o shall_v thou_o chide_v thyself_o o_o believe_a soul_n who_o faith_n give_v thou_o a_o interest_n in_o he_o that_o thou_o be_v so_o afraid_a of_o his_o appearance_n whence_o be_v it_o that_o thou_o be_v so_o backward_o to_o go_v unto_o he_o be_v the_o enjoyment_n of_o he_o in_o glory_n who_o be_v all_o love_n all_o life_n all_o joy_n all_o peace_n a_o frightful_a thing_n how_o come_v it_o to_o pass_v that_o thou_o be_v so_o unwilling_a to_o die_v and_o be_v for_o ever_o with_o he_o who_o thou_o call_v thy_o saviour_n have_v he_o lay_v down_o his_o life_n and_o shed_v his_o blood_n to_o redeem_v thou_o and_o will_v he_o now_o make_v a_o eternal_a slave_n of_o thou_o what_o have_v his_o ascension_n into_o glory_n change_v his_o nature_n and_o render_v he_o less_o lovely_a or_o the_o happiness_n of_o heaven_n in_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o he_o less_o desirable_a no_o certain_o he_o be_v not_o less_o lovely_a in_o himself_o because_o of_o his_o exaltation_n into_o glory_n but_o the_o more_o nor_o be_v the_o happiness_n of_o heaven_n in_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o he_o less_o but_o the_o more_o desirable_a and_o the_o more_o easy_o to_o be_v obtain_v for_o as_o the_o apostle_n say_v if_o when_o we_o be_v enemy_n we_o be_v reconcile_v by_o his_o death_n much_o more_o be_v reconcile_v shall_v we_o be_v save_v by_o his_o life_n and_o because_o he_o live_v glorify_v in_o heaven_n therefore_o shall_v believer_n live_v with_o he_o there_o and_o therefore_o also_o shall_v they_o be_v the_o more_o desirous_a to_o be_v there_o because_o he_o be_v there_o awake_v therefore_o o_o you_o drowsy_a saint_n rouse_v yourselves_o up_o out_o of_o your_o security_n and_o slothfulness_n for_o a_o careless_a indifferent_a frame_n of_o that_o fade_v not_o away_o reserve_v in_o heaven_n for_o you_o be_v there_o any_o thing_n either_o in_o this_o world_n or_o in_o the_o world_n to_o come_v that_o be_v comparable_a to_o he_o look_v upon_o he_o well_o o_o believe_a soul_n both_o in_o respect_n of_o what_o he_o once_o be_v and_o in_o respect_n of_o what_o he_o now_o be_v and_o you_o can_v but_o say_v he_o be_v make_v up_o of_o love_n henceforth_o therefore_o wonder_v not_o o_o blind_a and_o ignorant_a world_n that_o the_o people_n of_o god_n express_v such_o passionate_a long_a desire_n after_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o this_o bless_a lord_n jesus_n who_o have_v all_o loveliness_n and_o amiableness_n in_o thou_o look_v down_o gracious_o upon_o thy_o poor_a creature_n and_o discover_v unto_o they_o more_o of_o those_o ravish_a transcendent_a beauty_n and_o excellency_n that_o be_v in_o thou_o and_o let_v we_o every_o day_n have_v more_o and_o far_a insight_n into_o those_o never_o to_o be_v full_o know_v perfection_n of_o glory_n and_o loveliness_n that_o be_v in_o thyself_o that_o thereby_o we_o may_v be_v enable_v not_o only_o to_o commend_v thou_o a_o thousand_o time_n more_o feel_o and_o affectionate_o unto_o other_o but_o may_v thereby_o also_o win_v upon_o yea_o command_v the_o affection_n and_o desire_v of_o all_o that_o hear_v of_o thou_o unto_o thou_o that_o nothing_o short_a of_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o thyself_o and_o the_o manifestation_n of_o thy_o love_n and_o favour_n in_o eternal_a glory_n may_v satisfy_v and_o content_v we_o or_o they_o but_o that_o we_o may_v continual_o be_v cry_v out_o in_o that_o know_a language_n of_o thy_o church_n come_v lord_n jesus_n come_v quick_o four_o and_o last_o the_o saint_n happiness_n in_o heaven_n consist_v in_o this_o that_o there_o they_o shall_v have_v the_o vision_n and_o enjoyment_n of_o god_n himself_o be_v always_o where_o he_o be_v see_v his_o face_n and_o behold_v his_o glory_n now_o in_o speak_v to_o this_o great_a happiness_n of_o the_o saint_n the_o beatifical_a vision_n of_o god_n i_o shall_v content_v myself_o with_o those_o thing_n that_o be_v most_o plain_a and_o will_v be_v most_o beneficial_a now_o the_o sacred_a scripture_n give_v we_o a_o account_n of_o this_o great_a and_o mysterious_a part_n of_o the_o saint_n happiness_n in_o many_o high_a and_o lofty_a expression_n call_v it_o sometime_o a_o see_v of_o the_o face_n of_o god_n rev._n 22.4_o they_o shall_v see_v his_o face_n sometime_o it_o be_v set_v forth_o by_o our_o become_a like_a unto_o god_n and_o see_v he_o as_o he_o be_v so_o in_o 1_o john_n 3.2_o now_o say_v the_o apostle_n we_o be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n but_o it_o do_v not_o no_o nor_o can_v it_o yet_o appear_v what_o we_o shall_v be_v but_o to_o the_o utmost_a of_o its_o capacity_n yet_o when_o that_o soul_n have_v act_v with_o the_o great_a ardency_n of_o all_o these_o affection_n towards_o god_n still_o be_v there_o more_o of_o worth_n and_o excellency_n in_o god_n than_o all_o these_o affection_n can_v reach_v unto_o and_o infinite_o more_o do_v he_o still_o deserve_v to_o be_v love_v and_o delight_v in_o it_o be_v true_a a_o gracious_a soul_n in_o heaven_n shall_v have_v other_o object_n to_o delight_n in_o as_o saint_n and_o angel_n and_o the_o glorious_a place_n of_o its_o habitation_n the_o high_a heaven_n but_o whatever_o joy_n or_o delight_n the_o soul_n express_v in_o or_o towards_o any_o of_o these_o object_n it_o be_v because_o of_o the_o divine_a excellency_n and_o perfection_n that_o be_v communicate_v god_n be_v the_o chief_a happiness_n of_o a_o saint_n in_o heaven_n but_o though_o god_n be_v the_o chief_a yea_o the_o only_a happiness_n of_o glorify_a soul_n and_o heaven_n itself_o be_v no_o happiness_n to_o a_o saint_n without_o god_n there_o yet_o if_o it_o be_v not_o a_o eternal_a enjoyment_n of_o god_n in_o heaven_n a_o believer_n happiness_n there_o will_v be_v as_o it_o be_v no_o happiness_n to_o he_o for_o the_o great_a the_o good_a be_v that_o be_v enjoy_v if_o mix_v with_o continual_a fear_n of_o lose_v it_o the_o less_o joy_n and_o delight_n be_v there_o unto_o any_o in_o the_o possess_n of_o it_o because_o the_o fear_n of_o be_v deprive_v of_o so_o great_a a_o good_a abate_v so_o much_o of_o the_o happiness_n and_o comfort_n that_o otherwise_o will_v accrue_v unto_o the_o soul_n in_o the_o enjoy_n of_o it_o that_o it_o make_v it_o to_o be_v very_o little_a comparative_o to_o what_o it_o will_v be_v that_o which_o otherwise_o will_v be_v unexpressible_o delectable_a in_o the_o enjoyment_n by_o our_o fear_n of_o lose_v it_o gives_z little_a contentment_n to_o we_o while_o we_o be_v possess_v of_o it_o now_o though_o there_o be_v just_a cause_n for_o we_o to_o fear_v the_o loss_n of_o all_o earthly_a enjoyment_n and_o possible_o it_o may_v be_v necessary_a that_o god_n shall_v suffer_v such_o fear_n to_o prevail_v upon_o we_o that_o worldly_a thing_n may_v have_v less_o of_o our_o heart_n and_o affection_n and_o himself_o the_o more_o yet_o as_o to_o heaven_n and_o the_o happiness_n thereof_o there_o be_v no_o ground_n for_o any_o such_o fear_n nay_o though_o the_o happiness_n of_o heaven_n be_v ten_o thousand_o time_n great_a than_o what_o we_o can_v promise_v ourselves_o in_o all_o worldly_a enjoyment_n yet_o that_o which_o add_v to_o the_o excellency_n of_o that_o happiness_n be_v this_o that_o it_o be_v a_o thousand_o time_n more_o certain_a and_o secure_a than_o any_o worldly_a thing_n can_v be_v the_o happiness_n of_o heaven_n be_v not_o only_o a_o full_a and_o complete_a happiness_n but_o it_o be_v also_o a_o secure_a happiness_n it_o be_v a_o full_a happiness_n holy_a soul_n though_o they_o be_v never_o satisfy_v till_o then_o yet_o be_v they_o then_o full_o satisfy_v in_o heaven_n there_o be_v a_o cessation_n of_o desire_n in_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o god_n in_o that_o glorious_a place_n there_o be_v more_o of_o happiness_n than_o the_o soul_n be_v able_a to_o receive_v or_o bear_v and_o as_o this_o happiness_n be_v full_a and_o satisfactory_a so_o be_v it_o also_o secure_a it_o be_v a_o happiness_n that_o can_v be_v lose_v the_o gate_n of_o the_o new_a jerusalem_n that_o be_v of_o heaven_n be_v therefore_o say_v to_o stand_v open_a to_o show_v there_o be_v no_o fear_n of_o any_o enemy_n approach_v to_o take_v away_o the_o happiness_n of_o a_o saint_n there_o god_n will_v never_o take_v away_o the_o happiness_n of_o a_o saint_n from_o he_o the_o devil_n nor_o sin_n can_v take_v it_o away_o neither_o shall_v man_n himself_o either_o lose_v or_o throw_v it_o away_o the_o happiness_n of_o a_o saint_n in_o heaven_n be_v not_o like_o the_o happiness_n of_o man_n in_o paradise_n which_o be_v in_o his_o own_o keep_n and_o so_o be_v soon_o lose_v by_o he_o but_o it_o be_v in_o god_n hand_n and_o so_o it_o can_v be_v lose_v as_o the_o power_n of_o god_n now_o preserve_v and_o keep_v a_o saint_n for_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o heaven_n therefore_o say_v the_o apostle_n 1_o pet._n 1.5_o you_o be_v keep_v by_o the_o mighty_a power_n of_o god_n through_o faith_n unto_o salvation_n so_o the_o love_n the_o grace_n the_o mercy_n of_o god_n that_o have_v bestow_v the_o happiness_n of_o heaven_n upon_o they_o will_v for_o ever_o secure_a the_o enjoyment_n of_o it_o to_o they_o and_o as_o the_o happiness_n of_o heaven_n can_v be_v lose_v so_o it_o shall_v never_o decay_v it_o be_v therefore_o call_v by_o the_o apostle_n 1_o pet._n 1.4_o a_o inheritance_n incorruptible_a undefiled_a that_o fade_v not_o away_o and_o say_v the_o same_o apostle_n chap._n 5.4_o when_o the_o chief_a shepherd_n shall_v appear_v you_o shall_v receive_v a_o crown_n of_o glory_n that_o fade_v not_o away_o neither_o moth_n nor_o thief_n come_v there_o neither_o internal_a nor_o external_a mean_n of_o corruption_n or_o decay_n here_o on_o earth_n the_o sweet_a comfort_n soon_o fade_v as_o the_o sweet_a rose_n soon_o wither_v but_o in_o heaven_n there_o be_v a_o eternal_a freshness_n and_o greenness_n upon_o a_o saint_n blessedness_n when_o glorify_v soul_n have_v sing_v the_o song_n of_o moses_n and_o the_o lamb_n million_o of_o million_o of_o year_n it_o be_v a_o new_a song_n still_o and_o as_o pleasant_a and_o delightful_a as_o ever_o and_o that_o a_o saint_n happiness_n may_v be_v perfect_a and_o complete_a it_o be_v that_o which_o shall_v never_o have_v a_o end_n heaven_n be_v not_o a_o tenement_n at_o will_n but_o a_o inheritance_n purchase_v for_o the_o saint_n by_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n and_o settle_v upon_o they_o for_o ever_o we_o know_v say_v the_o apostle_n that_o when_o this_o earthly_a house_n of_o our_o tabernacle_n shall_v refine_a nature_n of_o the_o soul_n yea_o it_o be_v a_o great_a affront_n and_o abuse_v that_o we_o put_v upon_o our_o spiritual_a heavenborn_a soul_n when_o we_o give_v they_o nothing_o to_o feed_v upon_o or_o to_o delight_v in_o but_o what_o the_o dregs_o of_o earthly_a enjoyment_n will_v afford_v they_o alas_o the_o soul_n be_v of_o so_o pure_a and_o refine_a a_o constitution_n that_o it_o can_v live_v in_o much_o less_o be_v delight_v with_o the_o foggy_a thick_a air_n of_o earthly_a and_o sensual_a enjoyment_n it_o be_v a_o debase_v the_o noble_a and_o high-born_a soul_n of_o man_n to_o attempt_v to_o match_v it_o with_o the_o low_a and_o base_a thing_n of_o this_o world_n spiritual_a being_n and_n existence_n must_v have_v spiritual_a object_n to_o be_v please_v and_o delight_v with_o for_o they_o can_v take_v no_o delight_n in_o other_o thing_n because_o they_o be_v unsuitable_a to_o they_o but_o now_o when_o soul_n be_v join_v unto_o god_n spiritual_a thing_n be_v join_v unto_o that_o which_o be_v spiritual_a the_o spiritual_a soul_n unto_o god_n who_o be_v a_o spirit_n and_o the_o god_n of_o spirit_n and_o therefore_o from_o the_o soul_n be_v enjoy_v of_o god_n and_o have_v eternal_a communion_n with_o he_o who_o be_v the_o father_n of_o spirit_n those_o joy_n &_o delight_n that_o hereby_o will_v everlasting_o fill_v the_o soul_n must_v needs_o be_v inexpressible_o great_a and_o glorious_a and_o the_o reason_n be_v this_o because_o here_o be_v a_o suitableness_n between_o the_o soul_n and_o the_o object_n to_o which_o it_o be_v unite_v and_o suitableness_n always_o produce_v love_n and_o where_o there_o be_v love_n there_o will_v be_v joy_n and_o delight_n and_o always_o the_o more_o of_o suitableness_n there_o be_v between_o one_o person_n and_o another_o or_o between_o a_o person_n and_o a_o object_n still_o the_o more_o of_o love_n and_o the_o more_o of_o love_n the_o more_o of_o joy_n and_o delight_n thus_o now_o it_o be_v between_o god_n and_o the_o soul_n no_o object_n so_o suitable_a unto_o the_o soul_n as_o god_n no_o object_n so_o love_v and_o desire_v by_o the_o soul_n as_o god_n and_o consequent_o no_o great_a joy_n and_o delight_n can_v befall_v the_o soul_n than_o in_o the_o eternal_a enjoyment_n of_o god_n and_o this_o shall_v be_v the_o happiness_n of_o the_o saint_n in_o heaven_n for_o ever_o four_o god_n be_v a_o all-sufficient_a good_a and_o therefore_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o he_o must_v needs_o be_v a_o great_a happiness_n to_o the_o saint_n in_o heaven_n be_v it_o possible_a for_o a_o man_n to_o live_v in_o this_o world_n free_a from_o all_o pain_n and_o suffer_v in_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o all_o outward_a abundance_n even_o to_o the_o utmost_a of_o what_o there_o be_v in_o all_o the_o creature_n to_o make_v a_o man_n happy_a yet_o if_o all_o that_o good_a that_o he_o enjoy_v be_v not_o enough_o if_o it_o do_v not_o answer_v all_o his_o want_n and_o fill_v all_o his_o desire_n to_o the_o full_a so_o that_o he_o can_v crave_v nothing_o more_o this_o man_n notwithstanding_o all_o his_o enjoyment_n have_v not_o attain_v unto_o happiness_n it_o be_v true_a he_o be_v in_o a_o happy_a condition_n than_o most_o man_n be_v in_o regard_n whereof_o possible_o he_o be_v become_v the_o envy_n of_o his_o neighbour_n but_o yet_o be_v he_o not_o complete_o happy_a because_o there_o be_v a_o insufficiency_n in_o all_o thing_n here_o below_o to_o make_v a_o man_n happy_a the_o philosopher_n tell_v we_o that_o happiness_n be_v a_o state_n wherein_o there_o be_v a_o aggregation_n or_o meet_v together_o of_o all_o good_a thing_n whatsoever_o so_o that_o according_a to_o this_o definition_n of_o happiness_n if_o a_o man_n can_v be_v suppose_v to_o enjoy_v all_o good_a thing_n and_o yet_o want_v but_o one_o that_o man_n can_v not_o be_v a_o happy_a man._n but_o god_n be_v a_o all-sufficient_a good_a and_o in_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o he_o we_o enjoy_v all_o that_o be_v good_a he_o be_v self-sufficient_a for_o himself_o and_o all-sufficient_a to_o his_o creature_n this_o title_n he_o give_v himself_o gen._n 17.1_o i_o be_o say_v he_o to_o abraham_n god_n all-sufficient_a there_o be_v in_o he_o a_o sufficiency_n of_o all_o that_o be_v desirable_a a_o immense_a fullness_n a_o ocean_n of_o goodness_n all_o that_o good_a that_o be_v in_o all_o other_o thing_n whatsoever_o be_v in_o he_o with_o the_o addition_n of_o a_o incomprehensible_a overplus_a whatever_o good_a any_o have_v find_v in_o relation_n friend_n health_n in_o learning_n wisdom_n wealth_n and_o honour_n all_o this_o and_o much_o more_o be_v to_o be_v find_v in_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o one_o god_n the_o whole_a world_n and_o god_n put_v together_o be_v not_o at_o all_o more_o excellent_a than_o god_n alone_o for_o whatever_o excellency_n there_o be_v in_o the_o creature_n it_o be_v more_o eminent_o and_o transcendent_o in_o god_n already_o all_o addition_n to_o he_o therefore_o signify_v nothing_o nay_o let_v i_o add_v all_o the_o creature_n in_o the_o world_n if_o they_o stand_v by_o themselves_o be_v but_o so_o many_o cipher_n that_o signify_v nothing_o unless_o the_o great_a god_n as_o a_o solid_a number_n be_v add_v to_o they_o set_a god_n aside_o and_o in_o the_o whole_a creation_n there_o be_v not_o a_o all-sufficiency_n to_o be_v find_v for_o one_o soul_n but_o that_o soul_n that_o enjoy_v god_n have_v a_o all-sufficiency_n such_o a_o one_o may_v say_v with_o the_o apostle_n i_o have_v all_o i_o abound_v i_o be_o full_a and_o with_o holy_a david_n the_o lord_n be_v my_o portion_n i_o shall_v not_o want_v for_o have_v he_o who_o be_v all_o to_o be_v we_o we_o have_v all._n and_o this_o now_o be_v the_o happiness_n of_o the_o saint_n in_o heaven_n that_o there_o god_n shall_v be_v all_o in_o all_o unto_o they_o five_o god_n be_v a_o satisfy_v good_a and_o therefore_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o he_o must_v needs_o be_v a_o great_a happiness_n to_o the_o saint_n in_o heaven_n pleasure_n and_o delight_n be_v of_o the_o essence_n of_o happiness_n and_o flow_v from_o that_o satisfaction_n that_o our_o desire_n receive_v in_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o a_o good_a we_o possess_v and_o whatever_o it_o be_v that_o we_o enjoy_v if_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o fill_v and_o satisfy_v our_o appetite_n from_o crave_v more_o we_o be_v still_o short_a of_o happiness_n let_v our_o enjoyment_n be_v what_o they_o will_n such_o a_o good_a now_o be_v god_n a_o good_a beyond_o who_o there_o be_v nothing_o imaginable_a to_o be_v conceive_v and_o therefore_o it_o be_v impossible_a there_o shall_v or_o can_v be_v any_o thing_n desire_v but_o nothing_o else_o be_v so_o if_o we_o leave_v god_n out_o whatever_o we_o take_v in_o the_o heart_n will_v still_o be_v capable_a of_o desire_v more_o all_o the_o world_n and_o all_o the_o creature_n that_o it_o be_v stock_v withal_o shall_v they_o conspire_v and_o meet_v together_o to_o make_v up_o a_o happiness_n for_o one_o soul_n they_o can_v not_o do_v it_o god_n have_v not_o give_v a_o commission_n to_o any_o thing_n here_o below_o no_o nor_o to_o all_o of_o they_o put_v together_o to_o give_v we_o contentment_n and_o satisfaction_n he_o have_v commidionated_a the_o thing_n of_o the_o world_n to_o feed_v we_o to_o clothe_v we_o to_o strengthen_v we_o and_o to_o refresh_v we_o in_o the_o house_n of_o our_o pilgrimage_n but_o it_o be_v only_o himself_o that_o can_v give_v we_o contentment_n and_o satisfaction_n worldly_n thing_n be_v so_o far_o from_o give_v we_o contentment_n that_o there_o be_v this_o curse_n of_o god_n upon_o they_o all_o that_o whoever_o set_v his_o heart_n and_o affection_n inordinate_o upon_o they_o shall_v never_o be_v satisfy_v with_o they_o for_o as_o the_o wise_a man_n say_v eccles_n 5.10_o he_o that_o love_v silver_n shall_v not_o be_v satisfy_v with_o silver_n nor_o he_o that_o love_v abundance_n with_o increase_n now_o the_o true_a reason_n why_o worldly_a thing_n nay_o throw_v in_o the_o whole_a world_n itself_o yet_o be_v there_o a_o vacuity_n and_o hollowness_n that_o can_v be_v fill_v up_o thereby_o moreover_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n be_v of_o a_o noble_a and_o excellent_a be_v and_o next_o to_o angel_n the_o top_n and_o flower_n of_o the_o creation_n and_o all_o thing_n here_o below_o be_v inferior_a to_o it_o nay_o they_o be_v dregs_o and_o lees_n compare_v to_o it_o now_o that_o which_o
family_n and_o particular_a person_n which_o peevish_a man_n be_v wont_v here_o to_o find_v fault_n with_o be_v all_o disclose_v and_o make_v appear_v to_o be_v so_o just_a and_o righteous_a yea_o so_o necessary_a and_o seasonable_a that_o those_o very_a thing_n which_o here_o be_v a_o temptation_n to_o we_o to_o deny_v god_n shall_v in_o heaven_n prove_v a_o powerful_a engagement_n for_o we_o to_o praise_n god_n and_o then_o shall_v we_o not_o so_o proper_o be_v satisfy_v with_o what_o his_o providence_n have_v bring_v about_o as_o ravish_v with_o the_o wisdom_n and_o beauty_n that_o we_o pleasurable_a and_o delightful_a life_n that_o a_o holy_a soul_n lead_v who_o mind_n be_v frequent_o take_v up_o in_o the_o study_n and_o contemplation_n of_o those_o two_o excellent_a theme_n the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o the_o providence_n of_o god_n but_o must_v profess_v as_o a_o great_a noble_a and_o learned_a person_n do_v both_o very_o ingenious_o and_o pious_o also_o that_o though_o there_o be_v something_o of_o difficulty_n in_o a_o studious_a employment_n of_o our_o thought_n in_o the_o contemplation_n of_o these_o thing_n yet_o be_v they_o also_o so_o please_v and_o invite_v that_o to_o give_v you_o his_o own_o word_n shall_v heaven_n say_v he_o afford_v i_o no_o great_a blessing_n than_o a_o clear_a account_n of_o the_o abstruse_a mystery_n of_o divinity_n and_o providence_n i_o shall_v value_v the_o have_v my_o understanding_n gratify_v and_o enrich_v with_o truth_n of_o so_o noble_a and_o precious_a a_o nature_n enough_o to_o court_v heaven_n at_o the_o rate_n of_o renounce_v for_o it_o all_o those_o unmanly_a sensuality_n and_o trifle_a vanity_n for_o which_o inconsiderate_a mortal_n be_v wont_a to_o forfeit_v that_o interest_n their_o saviour_n they_o have_v but_o not_o the_o perfection_n of_o grace_n a_o absolute_a state_n of_o perfection_n be_v rather_o to_o be_v wish_v for_o than_o enjoy_v in_o this_o life_n the_o utmost_a that_o a_o soul_n and_o that_o which_o be_v rare_o find_v in_o any_o wicked_a man_n to_o be_v sure_a not_o upon_o good_a ground_n but_o true_o when_o i_o consider_v how_o much_o far_o a_o christian_n may_v go_v and_o what_o he_o be_v yet_o short_a of_o that_o may_v tend_v to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n the_o credit_n of_o the_o christian_a religion_n and_o the_o peace_n and_o comfort_n of_o his_o own_o soul_n methinks_v his_o present_a attainment_n compare_v with_o what_o be_v his_o duty_n to_o labour_v after_o be_v no_o extraordinary_a great_a thing_n for_o consider_v a_o little_a what_o a_o strange_a not_o usual_a to_o say_v of_o any_o man_n that_o he_o be_v content_a to_o have_v they_o who_o say_v concern_v silver_n and_o gold_n that_o a_o man_n be_v content_a to_o be_v enrich_v with_o they_o no_o the_o common_a expression_n in_o this_o case_n be_v not_o that_o man_n be_v content_a to_o be_v rich_a but_o that_o they_o be_v covetous_a after_o riches_n and_o so_o for_o honour_n and_o outward_a greatness_n we_o say_v not_o that_o man_n be_v willing_a to_o be_v honour_v and_o advance_v above_o their_o neighbour_n but_o they_o be_v ambitious_a in_o seek_v after_o promotion_n and_o why_o then_o shall_v it_o be_v say_v of_o a_o christian_a only_o that_o he_o be_v content_a to_o be_v happy_a content_a to_o be_v with_o god_n in_o heaven_n now_o if_o worldly_a man_n desire_n work_v
