the_o ungodlie_a world_n and_o lewd_a nature_n that_o be_v in_o man_n take_v occasion_n to_o accuse_v godly_a zeal_n under_o this_o pretence_n and_o to_o find_v fault_n with_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o word_n because_o say_v they_o it_o set_v man_n at_o strife_n but_o we_o must_v learn_v in_o this_o place_n to_o join_v godliness_n with_o our_o patience_n for_o otherwise_o we_o shall_v be_v find_v to_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o irreligious_a and_o profane_a dog_n although_o we_o pretend_v love_n never_o so_o much_o the_o time_n will_v not_o suffer_v to_o handle_v the_o rest_n which_o can_v be_v without_o if_o it_o be_v a_o true_a faith_n with_o virtue_n we_o be_v command_v to_o join_v knowledge_n which_o may_v be_v a_o guide_n thereunto_o our_o knowledge_n must_v go_v with_o temperance_n with_o this_o must_v come_v patience_n and_o thereunto_o must_v be_v join_v godliness_n there_o remain_v yet_o two_o branch_n of_o these_o special_a virtue_n about_o which_o we_o be_v to_o travel_v the_o first_o of_o these_o be_v brotherlie_a love_n or_o kindness_n which_o must_v be_v yoke_v with_o godliness_n as_o i_o say_v that_o this_o godliness_n he_o speak_v of_o be_v refer_v to_o the_o first_o table_n of_o the_o law_n respect_v god_n and_o his_o religion_n that_o we_o be_v sound_a and_o zealous_a in_o the_o same_o and_o not_o as_o those_o which_o be_v for_o all_o all_o time_n and_o all_o religion_n and_o therefore_o care_v not_o what_o be_v say_v against_o religion_n be_v very_a bellie-god_n and_o atheist_n so_o this_o be_v refer_v to_o the_o second_o table_n show_v what_o we_o owe_v unto_o man_n this_o be_v very_o fit_o and_o necessary_o add_v for_o as_o there_o be_v many_o which_o regard_v man_n only_o how_o to_o please_v and_o not_o to_o grieve_v or_o offend_v they_o altogether_o forget_v their_o duty_n towards_o the_o lord_n god_n and_o whole_o shut_v he_o out_o as_o though_o their_o chief_a care_n shall_v be_v of_o man_n let_v pass_v godliness_n so_o there_o be_v some_o that_o offend_v on_o the_o other_o side_n which_o look_v always_o so_o high_a as_o to_o have_v respect_n to_o the_o lord_n and_o his_o truth_n to_o be_v earnest_a and_o fiery_a in_o that_o overlook_v man_n forget_v the_o duty_n which_o they_o owe_v unto_o they_o the_o holy_a apostle_n meet_v with_o this_o mischief_n and_o tell_v we_o that_o we_o must_v so_o love_n god_n esteem_v of_o himself_o what_o he_o will_v but_o the_o lord_n tell_v we_o that_o he_o be_v no_o more_o forward_o than_o the_o devil_n they_o be_v as_o find_v in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o truth_n as_o he_o and_o if_o this_o common_a and_o general_a faith_n will_v serve_v they_o shall_v be_v save_v as_o well_o as_o he_o but_o it_o may_v be_v here_o object_v that_o there_o be_v great_a difference_n between_o the_o faith_n of_o devil_n and_o the_o faith_n of_o those_o man_n which_o believe_v and_o yet_o have_v no_o fruit_n of_o godliness_n in_o they_o the_o devil_n indeed_o do_v believe_v all_o matter_n of_o faith_n to_o be_v true_a but_o they_o do_v not_o nor_o can_v not_o believe_v that_o they_o pertain_v any_o thing_n at_o all_o to_o they_o they_o have_v no_o hope_n of_o mercy_n but_o all_o his_o merit_n which_o the_o weak_a faith_n do_v as_o well_o as_o the_o strong_a and_o therefore_o in_o this_o respect_n be_v equal_o precious_a this_o i_o speak_v not_o to_o make_v any_o slothful_a when_o as_o the_o scripture_n do_v prick_v we_o forward_o so_o much_o to_o seek_v increase_n of_o faith_n but_o for_o the_o comfort_n and_o hearten_v of_o the_o weak_a which_o feel_v truth_n this_o thing_n than_o be_v most_o evident_a that_o the_o true_a belief_n do_v make_v all_o those_o that_o have_v it_o ready_a and_o willing_a to_o lose_v their_o life_n and_o their_o good_n for_o the_o gospel_n this_o must_v not_o seem_v to_o be_v a_o strange_a doctrine_n when_o as_o our_o saviour_n tell_v we_o in_o sundry_a place_n that_o he_o that_o do_v not_o forsake_v all_o and_o take_v up_o his_o cross_n and_o follow_v he_o can_v not_o be_v his_o disciple_n well_o we_o must_v therefore_o be_v so_o hot_a and_o zealous_a in_o the_o profession_n of_o true_a religion_n that_o his_o friend_n and_o such_o like_a how_o great_a a_o enemy_n he_o be_v to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n it_o skill_v not_o these_o be_v bruit_n beast_n without_o understanding_n very_a atheist_n which_o will_v say_v plain_o they_o can_v see_v no_o difference_n between_o the_o papist_n and_o the_o professor_n of_o the_o gospel_n both_o because_o they_o be_v not_o able_a to_o judge_v of_o doctrine_n and_o that_o faith_n which_o be_v without_o work_n be_v dead_a here_o by_o the_o way_n observe_v by_o comparison_n how_o far_o off_o be_v those_o from_o grace_n which_o swarm_v full_a of_o unclean_a old_a man_n with_o his_o corrupt_a lust_n but_o have_v also_o put_v on_o the_o new_a man_n which_o be_v create_v in_o righteousness_n &_o true_a holiness_n &_o as_o they_o have_v walk_v in_o darkness_n so_o now_o they_o walk_v in_o the_o light_n there_o be_v one_o step_v yet_o further_o in_o this_o matter_n i_o trust_v that_o as_o you_o will_v confess_v this_o that_o if_o those_o do_v god_n and_o his_o truth_n so_o you_o will_v also_o be_v bring_v to_o see_v that_o those_o miserable_a man_n be_v yet_o further_o off_o which_o bark_n against_o this_o holy_a doctrine_n and_o can_v not_o abide_v that_o a_o man_n shall_v say_v to_o the_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a thou_o be_v in_o the_o way_n to_o hell_n thou_o shall_v die_v the_o death_n if_o thou_o return_v not_o from_o these_o evil_n they_o may_v thunder_v and_o rail_v against_o man_n and_o say_v they_o utter_a damnation_n but_o let_v they_o look_v if_o they_o can_v quench_v the_o light_n which_o the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v give_v in_o this_o text_n let_v we_o return_v to_o the_o former_a matter_n again_o we_o must_v not_o only_o abstain_v from_o evil_a but_o also_o do_v good_a there_o be_v many_o likewise_o deceive_v in_o their_o do_v good_a restrain_v it_o to_o the_o base_a and_o lesser_a part_n they_o look_v but_o unto_o the_o body_n of_o their_o brethren_n and_o suppose_v they_o be_v to_o have_v no_o further_o
