do_v not_o reach_v the_o thing_n home_o they_o not_o seem_v only_o but_o real_o do_v come_v from_o a_o heart_n full_a of_o love_n to_o god_n law_n and_o indeed_o theophilus_n i_o think_v it_o no_o hard_a matter_n to_o discern_v a_o true_a passion_n from_o one_o that_o be_v so_o only_o in_o show_n this_o late_a will_v betray_v itself_o in_o something_o or_o other_o which_o by_o a_o judicious_a eye_n will_v easy_o be_v perceive_v while_o the_o other_o carry_v its_o evidence_n along_o with_o it_o and_o without_o scruple_n be_v present_o own_a as_o genuine_a and_o sincere_a and_o sure_o no_o word_n of_o god_n be_v then_o write_v by_o the_o law_n here_o be_v mean_v the_o law_n give_v by_o moses_n and_o that_o part_n of_o it_o especial_o which_o be_v moral_a although_o the_o judicial_a for_o the_o justice_n and_o prudence_n of_o it_o and_o the_o ceremonial_a for_o its_o mysteriousness_n be_v not_o whole_o to_o be_v exclude_v from_o the_o law_n we_o speak_v of_o nor_o yet_o whatever_o else_o be_v contain_v in_o holy_a writ_n
do_v vindicate_v his_o own_o sovereignty_n and_o power_n which_o they_o as_o much_o as_o in_o they_o lie_v have_v bring_v under_o and_o trample_v upon_o and_o this_o he_o so_o do_v as_o that_o they_o themselves_o may_v look_v upon_o it_o to_o be_v god_n just_a hand_n and_o that_o other_o also_o may_v acknowledge_v it_o his_o do_v but_o then_o community_n of_o man_n which_o by_o their_o public_a sin_n make_v the_o almighty_a to_o serve_v be_v always_o when_o those_o sin_n be_v ripe_a punish_v in_o this_o world_n for_o they_o can_v with_o any_o reason_n be_v think_v punishable_a in_o the_o next_o because_o all_o bond_n of_o civil_a society_n be_v utter_o break_v and_o evacuate_v by_o the_o death_n of_o the_o whole_a yea_o and_o those_o private_a man_n who_o have_v contribute_v their_o share_n to_o the_o sin_n of_o a_o nation_n as_o such_o be_v also_o oftentimes_o in_o some_o respect_n punish_v in_o this_o world_n even_o after_o death_n by_o public_a calamity_n reach_v their_o child_n or_o other_o relation_n in_o who_o themselves_o be_v in_o a_o manner_n still_o here_o continue_v which_o to_o one_o who_o right_o consider_v it_o show_v forth_o god_n righteous_a judgement_n upon_o they_o but_o because_o it_o be_v not_o always_o safe_a to_o pronounce_v that_o the_o untimely_a death_n or_o unexpected_a misery_n of_o some_o particular_a person_n be_v a_o immediate_a stroke_n of_o god_n upon_o they_o for_o their_o disobedience_n for_o our_o christian_a charity_n will_v not_o permit_v this_o when_o we_o know_v no_o signal_n crime_n by_o they_o and_o the_o great_a affliction_n of_o some_o who_o be_v not_o great_a sinner_n than_o other_o man_n and_o of_o some_o who_o we_o have_v reason_n to_o esteem_v as_o good_a man_n may_v caution_n we_o in_o this_o point_n cut_v they_o off_o that_o they_o may_v have_v space_n for_o repentance_n thus_o do_v he_o to_o the_o church_n of_o thyatira_n i_o give_v she_o say_v he_o space_n to_o repent_v of_o her_o fornication_n and_o for_o this_o end_n may_v he_o spare_v these_o deal_v with_o they_o as_o the_o lord_n do_v with_o the_o barren_a figtree_n hope_v that_o though_o they_o be_v not_o fruitful_a this_o year_n they_o will_v grow_v better_o the_o next_o and_o this_o the_o rather_o because_o from_o the_o thought_n of_o this_o goodness_n of_o god_n unto_o they_o they_o may_v the_o more_o effectual_o be_v prevail_v upon_o to_o repent_v despise_v thou_o say_v the_o apostle_n the_o riches_n of_o his_o goodness_n and_o forbearance_n and_o long-suffering_a not_o know_v that_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n in_o this_o his_o forbearance_n and_o long-suffering_a lead_v thou_o to_o repentance_n a_o sorrow_n for_o former_a sin_n and_o a_o acknowledgement_n of_o god_n sovereignty_n for_o the_o future_a in_o man_n give_v themselves_o up_o to_o his_o service_n may_v arise_v from_o other_o consideration_n but_o from_o none_o more_o direct_o or_o more_o forcible_o than_o from_o that_o of_o his_o spare_v they_o and_o suffer_v they_o to_o live_v that_o they_o may_v repent_v and_o turn_v unto_o he_o neither_o may_v it_o be_v a_o small_a motive_n for_o his_o not_o general_o cut_v they_o off_o that_o in_o case_n they_o do_v not_o repent_v there_o may_v from_o their_o freedom_n from_o punishment_n in_o this_o life_n be_v afford_v unto_o we_o a_o strong_a proof_n that_o there_o will_v be_v another_o life_n sure_o as_o god_n gracious_a design_n of_o man_n turn_v unto_o he_o and_o be_v happy_a do_v take_v off_o whatever_o can_v be_v object_v against_o his_o not_o present_o destroy_v the_o disobedient_a so_o the_o reputation_n of_o his_o justice_n which_o will_v by_o this_o mean_n be_v exalt_v even_o among_o those_o that_o in_o hell_n shall_v suffer_v it_o may_v abundant_o vindicate_v god_n pardon_n of_o all_o sin_n most_o perfect_a these_o law_n be_v as_o you_o have_v hear_v but_o by_o reason_n of_o that_o weakness_n which_o be_v within_o we_o and_o those_o many_o strong_a temptation_n which_o be_v without_o they_o be_v not_o like_a to_o be_v perfect_o obey_v all_o that_o we_o can_v do_v be_v as_o it_o be_v a_o great_a way_n off_o to_o behold_v and_o admire_v that_o perfection_n one_o instance_n of_o the_o thief_n on_o the_o cross_n which_o be_v to_o be_v look_v upon_o as_o a_o special_a and_o un-common_a example_n and_o therefore_o it_o stand_v by_o itself_o in_o the_o be_v not_o like_o that_o face_n who_o feature_n by_o themselves_o be_v beauteous_a but_o unite_a be_v uncomely_a but_o they_o be_v such_o as_o increase_v each_o other_o lustre_n and_o show_v a_o symmetry_n altogether_o divine_a theoph._n it_o be_v so_o eubulus_n when_o i_o consider_v the_o law_n which_o require_v duty_n to_o god_n i_o be_o the_o more_o in_o love_n with_o those_o which_o enjoin_v my_o behaviour_n towards_o men._n and_o when_o i_o weigh_v those_o that_o relate_v to_o other_o and_o myself_o those_o towards_o god_n appear_v more_o advantageous_o to_o i_o and_o i_o present_o be_o excite_v to_o put_v they_o into_o practice_n by_o reverence_v love_a and_o praise_v he_o who_o have_v give_v such_o law_n unto_o we_o every_o particular_a precept_n towards_o god_n towards_o man_n towards_o myself_o enkindle_v my_o affection_n towards_o the_o rest_n and_o they_o altogether_o do_v high_o set_v off_o and_o commend_v to_o my_o love_n every_o particular_a and_o this_o our_o love_n to_o the_o divine_a law_n be_v not_o like_o our_o love_n in_o many_o other_o case_n which_o when_o we_o recollect_v ourselves_o and_o betake_v we_o to_o serious_a thought_n go_v less_o for_o the_o gain_n acceptance_n and_o esteem_n no_o need_n be_v there_o of_o those_o artifices_fw-la that_o the_o religious_a institution_n among_o the_o heathen_n have_v which_o from_o hieroglyphic_n fable_n pompous_a and_o divers_a superstition_n be_v serve_v up_o rather_o to_o the_o imaginative_a faculty_n than_o to_o the_o understanding_n and_o make_v to_o please_v not_o the_o wise_a so_o much_o as_o the_o multitude_n the_o christian_a law_n fear_v not_o the_o most_o pierce_a and_o critical_a eye_n look_v into_o they_o they_o discover_v the_o great_a excellency_n to_o he_o
