his_o child_n too_o be_v ignoraut_v of_o it_o see_v say_v i_o that_o god_n speak_v so_o familiar_o too_o we_o and_o as_o it_o be_v month_n too_o mouth_n so_o as_o he_o show_v we_o his_o will_n and_o tell_v we_o our_o duty_n must_v it_o not_o needs_o be_v that_o we_o be_v worse_a than_o the_o infidel_n and_o much_o more_o grievous_o too_o be_v condemn_v than_o they_o if_o we_o continue_v hard_o harâ—â—d_v or_o stop_v our_o ear_n lest_o we_o may_v receive_v the_o advice_n that_o he_o give_v we_o then_o let_v we_o mark_v well_o that_o see_v saint_n paul_n have_v set_v we_o forth_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n for_o a_o example_n and_o tell_v we_o that_o he_o be_v so_o give_v we_o it_o be_v good_a reason_n consider_v how_o we_o be_v link_v unto_o he_o that_o we_o shall_v show_v ourselves_o willing_a too_o follow_v he_o and_o fashion_n ourselves_o like_o unto_o he_o by_o pity_v such_o as_o be_v in_o distress_n by_o bear_v patient_o with_o the_o vice_n and_o infirmity_n of_o our_o neighbour_n and_o by_o relieve_v such_o as_o have_v need_n of_o we_o if_o we_o may_v convenient_o and_o have_v wherewithal_o let_v we_o think_v well_o upon_o that_o again_o forasmuch_o as_o here_o be_v mention_v make_v of_o man_n and_o wife_n let_v they_o that_o be_v marry_v consider_v what_o damnation_n be_v prepare_v for_o they_o if_o they_o be_v not_o move_v and_o touch_v too_o the_o quick_a by_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v tell_v they_o here_o namely_o that_o on_o the_o one_o side_n the_o heathen_a folk_n shall_v rise_v up_o to_o give_v witness_n against_o they_o at_o the_o latter_a day_n and_o that_o on_o the_o other_o side_n the_o order_n of_o nature_n teach_v they_o what_o they_o have_v to_o do_v so_o that_o if_o they_o live_v not_o in_o concord_n and_o friendship_n as_o be_v show_v they_o here_o they_o do_v as_o it_o be_v wilful_o withstand_v god_n yea_o and_o utter_o forget_v themselves_o and_o become_v worse_a than_o brute_n beast_n and_o furthermore_o let_v they_o know_v also_o that_o forasmuch_o as_o marriage_n be_v a_o figure_n of_o the_o holy_a union_n that_o be_v between_o the_o some_o of_o god_n and_o all_o the_o faithful_a the_o same_o aught_o also_o too_o hold_v they_o in_o the_o great_a reverence_n and_o although_o there_o happen_v many_o contention_n yet_o ought_v they_o too_o subdue_v they_o and_o too_o let_v they_o lie_v as_o dead_a and_o too_o consider_v that_o sith_o our_o lord_n jesus_n sit_v over_o they_o it_o be_v too_o show_v that_o wedlock_n be_v bliss_v in_o such_o wise_n by_o god_n his_o father_n at_o the_o first_o that_o he_o himself_o also_o have_v ratify_v the_o same_o blessing_n by_o his_o death_n and_o passion_n yea_o and_o reconcile_v we_o too_o god_n in_o such_o wise_a as_o the_o husband_n may_v perceive_v as_o it_o be_v in_o a_o lyvely_a picture_n that_o he_o be_v all_o one_o with_o his_o wife_n howbeit_o in_o such_o wise_n under_o the_o obedience_n of_o god_n as_o both_o twain_o of_o they_o ought_v too_o serve_v he_o with_o one_o accord_n even_o until_o they_o be_v so_o far_o forth_o as_o they_o be_v come_v too_o he_o too_o cleave_v too_o he_o thorough_o in_o all_o perfection_n now_o although_o such_o warning_n ought_v too_o be_v of_o great_a force_n among_o we_o yet_o be_v very_o few_o touch_v with_o they_o accord_o and_o the_o world_n see_v it_o for_o let_v a_o man_n look_v into_o all_o household_n one_o after_o another_o and_o where_o shall_v he_o find_v such_o friendship_n as_o may_v resemble_v jesus_n christ_n and_o his_o church_n nowhere_o but_o the_o man_n and_o his_o wife_n be_v rather_o ever_o jar_v and_o disagree_v and_o if_o there_o happen_v too_o be_v some_o fond_a 〈◊〉_d yet_o be_v there_o no_o fear_n of_o god_n and_o the_o least_o occasion_n in_o the_o world_n will_v be_v enough_o too_o set_v they_o at_o odds_n so_o as_o they_o shall_v forget_v all_o that_o be_v contain_v here_o or_o too_o say_v the_o truth_n they_o never_o once_o think_v of_o it_o the_o love_n that_o be_v betwixt_o they_o be_v lead_v and_o provoke_v by_o their_o lust_n and_o not_o ground_v upon_o any_o knowledge_n that_o they_o have_v of_o the_o discharge_n of_o their_o duty_n that_o the_o husband_n consider_v how_o he_o ought_v too_o bear_v with_o his_o wife_n how_o he_o ought_v too_o guide_v she_o in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n and_o how_o he_o ought_v too_o love_v she_o as_o a_o helper_n allot_v unto_o he_o for_o his_o ease_n that_o he_o may_v walk_v as_o he_o ought_v too_o do_v nor_o that_o the_o wife_n humble_v herself_o too_o her_o husband_n or_o bend_v her_o wit_n too_o please_v he_o because_o she_o perceive_v that_o she_o be_v express_o give_v unto_o he_o too_o be_v a_o furtherance_n and_o not_o a_o hindrance_n unto_o he_o there_o be_v no_o talk_n nor_o inkling_n of_o all_o this_o but_o if_o all_o be_v well_o consider_v i_o say_v the_o common_a and_o most_o ordinary_a state_n be_v that_o in_o every_o house_n a_o man_n shall_v find_v devilishness_n curse_v ban_a blasphemy_n swear_v spitefulness_n and_o harm_v and_o although_o some_o wâ—man_n be_v a_o fiend_n towards_o her_o neighbour_n as_o well_o as_o she_o be_v towards_o her_o husband_n yet_o if_o her_o husband_n have_v any_o wealth_n or_o good_n by_o she_o he_o must_v take_v her_o part_n without_o discretion_n and_o maintain_v her_o quarrel_n be_v it_o good_a or_o bad_a i_o say_v a_o man_n may_v see_v that_o this_o perverseness_n reign_v wellnear_o everywhere_o again_o every_o man_n complain_v of_o his_o wife_n say_v i_o can_v live_v with_o she_o it_o be_v a_o mad_a beast_n there_o be_v nothing_o in_o she_o but_o pride_n and_o peevishness_n and_o there_o be_v nothing_o in_o she_o but_o froward_a stubbornness_n i_o can_v speak_v a_o word_n too_o she_o but_o she_o pay_v i_o again_o with_o four_o for_o it_o now_o sure_o such_o as_o man_n make_v their_o wife_n such_o have_v they_o of_o they_o for_o be_v there_o no_o more_o but_o this_o that_o i_o speak_v of_o namely_o that_o man_n do_v as_o it_o be_v in_o spite_n of_o god_n maintain_v their_o wife_n wrongful_a quarrel_n ought_v not_o god_n too_o yield_v they_o their_o deserve_a hire_n and_o too_o make_v it_o rebound_v back_o upon_o their_o own_o pate_n whatsoever_o i_o say_v if_o a_o man_n mark_v well_o eâ—ery_a man_n ordinary_a trade_n of_o life_n he_o shall_v find_v that_o there_o may_v be_v a_o sort_n of_o fond_a love_n and_o a_o fort_n of_o excessive_a affection_n but_o as_o for_o well_o order_v friendship_n such_o as_o depend_v upon_o god_n and_o be_v ground_v on_o his_o word_n hardly_o shall_v he_o among_o a_o hundred_o house_n find_v one_o where_o the_o husband_n and_o the_o wife_n be_v so_o well_o qualify_v yet_o notwithstanding_o we_o be_v unexcuzable_a if_o we_o profit_v not_o in_o this_o doctrine_n so_o then_o every_o of_o we_o must_v fight_v against_o his_o unruly_a affection_n &_o if_o a_o man_n have_v not_o such_o a_o wife_n as_o he_o can_v wish_v let_v he_o understand_v that_o god_n intend_v to_o try_v his_o patience_n by_o that_o mean_n and_o let_v he_o consider_v well_o that_o he_o behave_v himself_o worse_a towards_o our_o lord_n
hand_n and_o bow_v they_o as_o he_o list_v and_o thereupon_o do_v pray_v he_o too_o give_v they_o grace_n and_o power_n too_o win_v their_o wife_n that_o they_o may_v agree_v with_o they_o and_o humble_v themselves_o too_o they_o they_o shall_v they_o perceive_v that_o god_n work_v in_o that_o behalf_n but_o most_o common_o it_o be_v to_o be_v see_v that_o man_n deal_v rough_o with_o their_o wife_n and_o think_v too_o win_v they_o by_o play_v the_o termagaunte_n so_o as_o they_o stick_v not_o too_o brooze_v their_o body_n yea_o sometime_o that_o the_o blood_n follow_v these_o be_v hangman_n and_o tormentor_n that_o will_v so_o martyr_v their_o wife_n asd_v yet_o notwithstanding_o they_o will_v allege_v the_o superiority_n that_o god_n have_v give_v they_o that_o superiority_n be_v not_o devilish_a neither_o serve_v it_o too_o make_v man_n like_o brute_n beast_n but_o too_o maintain_v good_a order_n and_o government_n but_o the_o woman_n on_o their_o side_n do_v for_o the_o most_o part_n inharden_n themselves_o and_o when_o rhey_n be_v too_o marry_v they_o never_o think_v upon_o the_o thing_n that_o god_n show_v and_o teach_v they_o by_o his_o word_n hardly_o shall_v a_o man_n find_v one_o among_o a_o hundred_o that_o pray_v unto_o god_n when_o she_o be_v upon_o the_o point_n of_o marriage_n no_o boubt_n but_o they_o hear_v it_o well_o enough_o say_v that_o the_o husband_n must_v be_v the_o head_n and_o they_o themselves_o will_v say_v very_o well_o it_o be_v true_a that_o if_o i_o have_v a_o husband_n he_o must_v be_v above_o i_o for_o so_o be_v the_o fashion_n of_o the_o world_n and_o i_o must_v abide_v it_o but_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n there_o shall_v be_v such_o overween_a or_o rather_o devilish_a stoutness_n in_o they_o as_o they_o can_v find_v in_o their_o heart_n too_o pluck_v god_n out_o of_o his_o seat_n and_o they_o will_v fain_v that_o this_o matter_n which_o we_o read_v now_o be_v raze_v out_o of_o the_o scripture_n too_o the_o intent_n they_o may_v not_o be_v subject_a too_o it_o yea_o and_o they_o make_v a_o confederacy_n among_o themselves_o in_o that_o case_n say_v tush_o i_o warrant_v thou_o i_o will_v hold_v my_o own_o and_o if_o my_o husband_n play_v the_o churl_n with_o i_o he_o shall_v well_o perceive_v that_o i_o pass_v not_o for_o it_o and_o i_o will_v hold_v he_o at_o a_o bay_n so_o long_o that_o when_o he_o see_v he_o do_v but_o looze_z his_o labour_n he_o shall_v be_v fain_a to_o give_v over_o his_o game_n and_o too_o let_v i_o alone_o after_o this_o manner_n say_v i_o do_v woman_n begin_v too_o enter_v into_o huswyfrye_n so_o as_o a_o man_n shall_v scarâ—ly_o find_v one_o among_o a_o hundred_o which_o be_v not_o of_o that_o mind_n and_o do_v not_o full_o determine_v upon_o it_o also_o the_o husband_n on_o his_o side_n think_v thus_o tush_o let_v i_o alone_o i_o will_v compass_v she_o well_o enough_o as_o who_o shall_v say_v he_o be_v god_n who_o have_v tell_v we_o that_o there_o be_v another_o manner_n of_o discretion_n too_o be_v use_v in_o this_o behalf_n for_o the_o way_n for_o man_n too_o win_v their_o wife_n be_v not_o too_o step_v too_o they_o with_o stoutness_n and_o too_o play_v the_o bedlam_n with_o they_o or_o too_o use_v tyranny_n over_o they_o none_o of_o that_o gear_n will_v boot_n and_o yet_o man_n think_v themselves_o so_o wise_a in_o their_o own_o conceit_n that_o they_o shall_v scare_v their_o wife_n with_o a_o grim_a look_n too_o be_v short_a they_o dispute_v of_o the_o matter_n &_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n rob_v god_n as_o though_o he_o have_v reserve_v nothing_o to_o himself_o whereby_o to_o teach_v we_o to_o repair_v unto_o he_o to_o pray_v he_o to_o meeken_fw-ge their_o heart_n and_o to_o bow_v they_o to_o obedience_n and_o mildness_n therefore_o it_o behove_v we_o to_o remember_v the_o lesson_n so_o much_o the_o better_a which_o be_v show_v we_o here_o and_o for_o the_o same_o cause_n do_v saint_n paul_n apply_v the_o similitude_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n as_o well_o too_o the_o one_o side_n as_o too_o the_o other_o for_o he_o tell_v the_o woman_n that_o it_o be_v for_o their_o benefit_n too_o be_v so_o subject_a too_o their_o husband_n and_o why_o let_v we_o consider_v the_o spiritual_a state_n of_o the_o church_n how_o miserable_a be_v our_o state_n if_o we_o be_v separate_v from_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n for_o we_o shall_v be_v bereave_v of_o all_o hope_n of_o life_n and_o of_o all_o god_n benefit_n and_o although_o we_o enjoy_v many_o gift_n in_o this_o world_n yet_o shall_v they_o turn_v all_o too_o our_o displeasure_n if_o we_o be_v not_o member_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ._n too_o be_v short_a without_o the_o son_n of_o god_n there_o be_v nothing_o but_o scatter_v here_o beneath_o for_o he_o be_v send_v too_o gather_v together_o all_o thing_n that_o be_v scatter_v afore_o insomuch_o that_o all_o our_o happiness_n joy_n and_o rest_n be_v too_o have_v jesus_n christ_n reign_v over_o we_o and_o roll_a we_o now_o then_o there_o must_v be_v a_o answerableness_n hereunto_o in_o marriage_n and_o the_o woman_n must_v understand_v that_o forasmuch_o as_o wedlock_n be_v as_o a_o image_n of_o the_o spiritual_a union_n which_o be_v between_o we_o &_o the_o son_n of_o god_n it_o be_v for_o their_o benefit_n to_o be_v under_o their_o husband_n &_o to_o yield_v they_o obedience_n &_o that_o it_o shall_v be_v much_o more_o for_o their_o profit_n than_o if_o they_o be_v at_o liberty_n too_o govern_v themselves_o and_o too_o do_v what_o they_o liâ—t_v without_o bridle_a or_o controlment_n true_a it_o be_v that_o they_o can_v conceive_v it_o but_o who_o shall_v be_v find_v wyzer_n in_o the_o end_n god_n or_o woman_n if_o they_o will_v needs_o reply_v that_o it_o be_v better_o for_o they_o too_o be_v in_o no_o subjection_n at_o all_o too_o their_o husband_n whereas_o god_n for_o all_o that_o have_v ordain_v otherwise_o yea_o even_o for_o their_o welfare_n and_o have_v declare_v and_o give_v sentence_n that_o it_o be_v so_o ween_v they_o too_o get_v the_o upper_a hand_n in_o plead_v so_o against_o god_n you_o see_v then_o that_o jesus_n christ_n be_v set_v down_o as_o the_o saviour_n of_o the_o body_n too_o the_o end_n that_o wife_n shall_v know_v that_o god_n have_v prevyde_v better_a for_o their_o necessity_n than_o they_o be_v aware_a of_o when_o they_o have_v well_o chaw_v their_o cud_n and_o debate_v what_o they_o can_v with_o themselves_o and_o gather_v all_o the_o reason_n that_o be_v possible_a too_o be_v have_v yet_o be_v it_o certain_a that_o they_o know_v not_o so_o well_o what_o be_v for_o their_o own_o profit_n as_o god_n do_v who_o have_v put_v they_o in_o subjection_n too_o their_o husband_n yea_o even_o for_o their_o own_o welfare_n too_o the_o intent_n they_o shall_v be_v maintain_v which_o otherwise_o can_v not_o be_v again_o on_o the_o other_o side_n saint_n paul_n allege_v our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n too_o the_o husband_n also_o too_o the_o intent_n they_o shall_v not_o abuse_v the_o authority_n that_o be_v grant_v they_o nor_o break_v the_o friendship_n which_o ought_v too_o be_v maintain_v in_o wedlock_n by_o be_v over_o churlish_a as_o they_o be_v wont_v too_o be_v and_o the_o thing_n that_o he_o set_v they_o down_o in_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n by_o demand_v how_o he_o have_v love_v his_o church_n be_v first_o and_o forme_v that_o he_o have_v give_v himself_o for_o it_o and_o that_o he_o spare_v not_o himself_o when_o he_o take_v man_n flesh_n upon_o he_o in_o deed_n all_o power_n and_o dominion_n be_v give_v unto_o he_o so_o as_o all_o knee_n must_v needs_o bow_v before_o he_o 10._o as_o saint_n paul_n himself_o say_v and_o all_o of_o we_o both_o great_a and_o small_a must_v do_v he_o homage_n but_o yet_o notwithstanding_o what_o have_v he_o do_v for_o his_o church_n list_a he_o too_o reign_v in_o such_o sort_n as_o too_o exercyze_v tyranny_n over_o we_o no_o but_o contrary_o he_o humble_v himself_o and_o whereas_o he_o have_v soverein_o dominion_n over_o the_o angel_n of_o heaven_n he_o become_v subject_a too_o the_o law_n 4._o and_o be_v call_v a_o servant_n himself_o in_o the_o person_n of_o a_o husband_n and_o vouchsafe_v that_o we_o shall_v be_v as_o a_o wife_n unto_o he_o i_o say_v when_o we_o see_v that_o shall_v we_o now_o which_o be_v but_o worm_n of_o the_o earth_n and_o a_o thing_n of_o nothing_o refuse_v too_o follow_v the_o example_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n who_o have_v no_o regard_n
of_o his_o heavenly_a glory_n and_o majesty_n too_o the_o end_n too_o abase_v himself_o in_o such_o wise_n for_o our_o sake_n so_o then_o it_o be_v enough_o too_o meeken_fw-ge the_o heart_n both_o of_o the_o one_o party_n and_o of_o the_o other_o if_o there_o be_v not_o too_o beastly_a lewdness_n or_o rather_o stark_a devilishness_n as_o well_o in_o the_o husband_n as_o in_o the_o wife_n for_o consider_v that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n do_v so_o abase_v himself_o for_o the_o love_n that_o he_o bear_v unto_o we_o which_o be_v but_o carrion_n and_o nothing_o worth_a and_o also_o have_v tell_v we_o that_o there_o be_v nothing_o better_a than_o for_o the_o wife_n too_o be_v subject_a too_o their_o husband_n and_o the_o husband_n be_v too_o bear_v with_o their_o wife_n if_o that_o move_v they_o not_o it_o be_v a_o sign_n that_o they_o be_v too_o beastly_a high_a mind_v or_o rather_o that_o there_o be_v neither_o wit_n nor_o reason_n in_o they_o for_o be_v there_o but_o one_o drop_n sure_o the_o thing_n that_o saint_n paul_n tell_v we_o ought_v too_o make_v we_o amend_v all_o thing_n that_o may_v hinder_v the_o do_n of_o our_o duty_n as_o well_o on_o the_o one_o side_n as_o on_o the_o other_o and_o be_v this_o well_o regard_v doubtless_o man_n shall_v see_v much_o more_o quietness_n in_o their_o house_n than_o they_o do_v and_o man_n and_o wife_n shall_v not_o be_v as_o cat_n and_o dog_n in_o snatch_v and_o bite_v one_o at_o another_o but_o the_o very_a mischief_n be_v that_o a_o man_n can_v see_v no_o fear_n of_o god_n among_o they_o for_o ought_v not_o man_n too_o call_v too_o mind_n both_o evening_n and_o morning_n the_o grace_n that_o be_v show_v unto_o we_o by_o the_o come_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o when_o all_o together_o have_v well_o think_v on_o it_o and_o set_v their_o mind_n too_o it_o the_o marry_a man_n ought_v also_o too_o think_v particular_o with_o themselves_o to_o what_o end_n have_v god_n show_v himself_o so_o love_v so_o kind_a and_o so_o pitiful_a towards_o i_o see_v he_o have_v advance_v i_o too_o such_o dignity_n it_o be_v good_a reason_n that_o i_o shall_v fashion_v myself_o like_o unto_o he_o now_o he_o hard_o as_o stone_n yea_o or_o as_o steel_n yis_o sure_o likewise_o if_o the_o woman_n on_o their_o side_n be_v mindful_a of_o their_o redemption_n and_o salvation_n then_o shall_v their_o hard_a heart_n needs_o be_v soften_v and_o they_o will_v not_o harden_v themselves_o any_o more_o too_o such_o stubbornness_n as_o they_o do_v but_o they_o will_v submit_v themselves_o too_o the_o yoke_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n that_o they_o may_v be_v partaker_n of_o the_o benefit_n which_o he_o have_v purchase_v for_o they_o by_o his_o death_n and_o passion_n we_o see_v then_o that_o when_o the_o grace_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n be_v preach_v too_o we_o indifferent_o most_o man_n gain_v nothing_o by_o it_o for_o they_o forsake_v it_o in_o all_o their_o life_n and_o by_o the_o way_n we_o have_v too_o mark_v further_o that_o although_o husband_n be_v froward_a and_o wife_n untoward_a too_o be_v rule_v yea_o and_o utter_o uncorrigible_a yet_o be_v that_o no_o release_n touch_v afore_o he_o on_o his_o side_n can_v bear_v with_o she_o and_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o marvellous_a good_a like_n and_o life_n betwixt_o they_o but_o peradventure_o one_o man_n will_v say_v he_o have_v a_o drunkard_n or_o a_o glutton_n another_o that_o his_o wife_n be_v give_v too_o garishness_n and_o over_o much_o bravery_n so_o as_o all_o that_o she_o can_v rap_v and_o rend_v be_v too_o little_a too_o trim_v she_o and_o deck_v she_o withal_o and_o another_o that_o his_o wife_n be_v a_o idle_a huzwyfe_n and_o will_v do_v nothing_o well_o these_o thing_n may_v have_v some_o colour_n before_o man_n yea_o and_o as_o i_o say_v afore_o if_o the_o matter_n concern_v but_o the_o party_n themselves_o every_o of_o they_o may_v have_v their_o defence_n at_o hand_n to_o cast_v of_o all_o yoke_n but_o the_o husband_n must_v think_v in_o that_o case_n i_o have_v a_o ill_a dispozed_a woman_n or_o a_o sot_n or_o one_o that_o have_v neither_o manner_n nor_o good_a behaviour_n nor_o any_o care_n at_o all_o of_o her_o household_n but_o how_o do_v i_o also_o behave_v myself_o not_o only_o in_o these_o worldly_a affair_n but_o also_o towards_o god_n now_o when_o the_o husband_n shall_v have_v bethink_v himself_o well_o and_o examine_v his_o own_o fault_n thorough_o he_o will_v hold_v his_o peace_n &_o patient_o bear_v with_o his_o wife_n fault_n until_o god_n give_v she_o the_o grace_n too_o amend_v they_o and_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n howsoever_o the_o world_n go_v let_v he_o not_o cease_v too_o play_v the_o good_a husband_n in_o apply_v himself_o too_o his_o wife_n too_o win_v she_o unto_o god_n for_o he_o be_v not_o set_v in_o degree_n of_o superiority_n but_o for_o the_o benefit_n and_o welfare_n of_o his_o yoke_n fellow_n and_o forasmuch_o as_o it_o be_v a_o inviolable_a law_n the_o same_o reason_n also_o must_v persuade_v the_o woman_n insomuch_o that_o if_o a_o woman_n have_v a_o drunkard_n or_o haunter_n of_o tavern_n and_o tipple_a house_n or_o a_o gamester_n or_o a_o spendall_n or_o a_o unthrift_n and_o a_o ryotter_n or_o a_o churl_n that_o be_v never_o in_o quiet_a with_o she_o so_o that_o do_v what_o she_o can_v too_o obey_v he_o and_o to_o please_v he_o she_o can_v never_o have_v any_o peace_n or_o good_a will_n at_o his_o hand_n let_v she_o consider_v alas_o it_o be_v god_n squoorge_n upon_o i_o for_o i_o have_v not_o be_v as_o i_o ought_v too_o be_v in_o obey_v my_o god_n and_o in_o submit_v myself_o to_o his_o will_n for_o how_o have_v i_o apply_v myself_o too_o serve_v and_o honour_v he_o how_o have_v i_o quit_v myself_o of_o the_o charge_n that_o he_o have_v commit_v too_o i_o let_v the_o wife_n think_v upon_o those_o thing_n and_o then_o let_v she_o conclude_v that_o howsoever_o she_o fare_v yet_o be_v it_o not_o for_o mortal_a creature_n too_o break_v the_o bond_n wherein_o god_n will_v have_v we_o bind_v for_o that_o be_v a_o strive_v against_o he_o and_o therefore_o must_v i_o submit_v myself_o too_o he_o that_o be_v my_o head_n and_o although_o he_o be_v terrible_a yet_o become_v it_o i_o too_o be_v subject_a too_o my_o god_n who_o have_v my_o husband_n heart_n in_o his_o hand_n and_o can_v alter_v it_o when_o he_o list_v and_o i_o must_v not_o provoke_v he_o too_o win_v i_o with_o stroke_n of_o the_o cudgel_n for_o in_o so_o do_v god_n will_v be_v discontent_v both_o with_o he_o and_o i_o so_o then_o the_o fault_n of_o the_o wife_n can_v discharge_v the_o husband_n from_o keep_v the_o law_n unbroken_a which_o god_n have_v ordain_v that_o be_v too_o wit_n from_o live_v together_o both_o in_o one_o accord_n likewise_o the_o vice_n of_o the_o husband_n shall_v noâ—_n excuse_v the_o wife_n from_o yield_a subjection_n &_o obedience_n in_o all_o thing_n on_o god_n behalf_n as_o be_v say_v of_o it_o here_o now_o saint_n paul_n too_o confirm_v this_o exhortation_n the_o better_a declare_v how_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n be_v the_o saviour_n of_o the_o body_n namely_o because_o he_o give_v himself_o for_o the_o church_n too_o sanctify_v it_o or_o to_o make_v it_o holy_a in_o deed_n the_o whole_a doctrine_n hereof_o can_v be_v dispatch_v as_o now_o yet_o full_o hereafter_o for_o here_o first_o of_o all_o it_o be_v say_v that_o we_o must_v consider_v that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n give_v himself_o for_o we_o wherein_o he_o begin_v at_o our_o redemption_n and_o therefore_o we_o must_v mark_v that_o word_n for_o a_o end_n as_o yet_o tarry_v till_o after_o dinner_n for_o the_o
have_v vengeance_n ready_a for_o all_o such_o as_o â—et_v themselves_o against_o our_o doctrine_n yea_o though_o they_o be_v the_o high_a in_o the_o world_n yet_o if_o they_o set_v up_o their_o nevertheless_o they_o be_v without_o god_n and_o at_o the_o same_o point_n be_v all_o unbeliever_n so_o then_o s._n paul_n reherce_v what_o our_o redemption_n be_v when_o jesus_n christ_n come_v too_o mean_a while_o we_o regard_v not_o wherefore_o the_o holy_a ghost_n set_v they_o before_o we_o the_o papist_n make_v idol_n of_o they_o and_o too_o their_o seem_n they_o have_v honour_v s._n paul_n do_v we_o in_o match_v we_o with_o the_o prophet_n apostle_n martyr_n and_o all_o the_o faithful_a let_v we_o go_v yet_o further_o and_o consider_v that_o he_o have_v make_v we_o fellowcitizen_n with_o the_o angel_n of_o heaven_n a_o man_n will_v take_v great_a labour_n for_o a_o citizenship_n freedenizonship_n or_o burgesship_n of_o this_o world_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o they_o be_v but_o incom_n of_o this_o life_n and_o what_o be_v this_o life_n of_o we_o a_o flightful_a shadow_n which_o fleet_v away_o out_o of_o hand_n behold_v god_n call_v we_o not_o only_o to_o sojourn_v in_o his_o church_n as_o stranger_n but_o also_o too_o assure_v we_o that_o he_o admit_v and_o accept_v we_o for_o his_o child_n so_o as_o we_o may_v with_o true_a trust_n and_o as_o it_o be_v with_o one_o mouth_n bold_o call_v upon_o he_o as_o our_o father_n and_o keep_v one_o tune_n and_o melody_n with_o all_o the_o saint_n that_o therefore_o be_v the_o thing_n which_o we_o have_v to_o remember_v upon_o this_o strain_v which_o order_n the_o apostle_n use_v also_o in_o the_o end_n of_o the_o epistle_n too_o the_o hebrew_n 18._o say_v that_o we_o be_v no_o more_o under_o the_o law_n which_o can_v do_v nothing_o but_o fray_v we_o because_o there_o be_v nothing_o too_o be_v hear_v there_o but_o thunder_n and_o lyghteninge_n which_o be_v terrible_a sign_n of_o god_n anger_n but_o we_o say_v he_o be_v come_v too_o mount_n zion_n where_o we_o hear_v the_o sweet_a voice_n of_o god_n our_o father_n who_o match_v we_o with_o his_o holy_a spirit_n with_o his_o angel_n and_o with_o the_o soul_n of_o his_o faithful_a one_o so_o as_o we_o be_v now_o of_o their_o crew_n and_o may_v speak_v unto_o god_n as_o it_o be_v all_o with_o one_o mouth_n because_o we_o have_v one_o common_a head_n this_o be_v in_o effect_n the_o thing_n that_o we_o must_v bear_v in_o mind_n and_o although_o we_o enjoy_v it_o not_o as_o yet_o yet_o notwithstanding_o we_o be_v sure_a that_o by_o the_o mean_n of_o faith_n we_o may_v walk_v through_o this_o present_a life_n as_o stranger_n too_o the_o world_n and_o that_o god_n will_v not_o fail_v too_o avow_v we_o for_o his_o child_n and_o heir_n and_o that_o although_o we_o be_v yet_o wrap_v here_o in_o many_o vice_n and_o imperfection_n yet_o notwithstanding_o all_o the_o saint_n of_o paradyse_n do_v acknowledge_v we_o for_o their_o brethren_n and_o embrace_v we_o for_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n sake_n now_o let_v we_o cast_v ourselves_o down_o before_o the_o majesty_n of_o our_o good_a god_n with_o acknowledgement_n of_o our_o fault_n pray_v he_o too_o make_v we_o so_o to_o feel_v they_o as_o we_o may_v mislike_v they_o more_o &_o more_o &_o on_o the_o other_o side_n set_v our_o whole_a mind_n too_o the_o consider_v of_o the_o infinite_a disposition_n to_o be_v short_a there_o be_v not_o that_o man_n which_o may_v not_o have_v some_o colour_n if_o he_o keep_v not_o the_o faithfulness_n and_o honesty_n of_o marriage_n as_o become_v he_o the_o wife_n also_o for_o her_o part_n shall_v not_o be_v unprovided_a for_o now_o and_o then_o her_o husband_n may_v hap_v too_o be_v testy_a and_o riotous_a and_o too_o have_v small_a regard_n wheretoo_o god_n have_v call_v they_o some_o be_v ill_a husband_n and_o hunter_n of_o tavern_n and_o ale_n house_n or_o else_o play_v the_o unthrift_n in_o game_n and_o light_n behaviour_n some_o be_v whoremonger_n some_o glutton_n and_o some_o drunkard_n and_o so_o every_o woman_n may_v pretend_v some_o excuse_n too_o exempt_v herself_o from_o her_o duty_n but_o when_o we_o come_v too_o god_n we_o must_v be_v fain_o too_o cast_v our_o head_n in_o our_o bozom_n for_o it_o will_v not_o boot_n we_o too_o stand_v check_v against_o he_o although_o the_o man_n misbehave_v themselves_o on_o the_o one_o side_n and_o the_o woman_n on_o the_o other_o â–ª_o yet_o will_v not_o god_n have_v the_o marriage_n to_o be_v break_v or_o dissolve_v thereby_o save_v the_o divorce_n i_o mean_v which_o our_o order_n when_o the_o beginning_n be_v so_o out_o of_o square_a for_o god_n must_v needs_o be_v revenge_v on_o his_o part_n when_o he_o be_v so_o light_o esteem_v and_o despise_v therefore_o let_v we_o learn_v too_o mark_v well_o this_o lesson_n of_o saint_n paul_n that_o like_a as_o marriage_n be_v ordain_v of_o god_n so_o they_o that_o be_v too_o enter_v into_o it_o must_v betake_v themselves_o whole_o unto_o he_o and_o make_v he_o their_o refuge_n know_v that_o it_o be_v he_o which_o bind_v the_o man_n and_o the_o wife_n the_o one_o too_o the_o other_o and_o which_o knit_v they_o together_o that_o this_o subjection_n be_v double_a for_o man_n be_v already_o the_o head_n of_o the_o woman_n even_o before_o the_o sin_n and_o fall_v of_o eve_n and_o adam_n 13._o and_o saint_n paul_n allege_v the_o same_o reason_n too_o show_v that_o it_o be_v not_o meet_v that_o the_o wife_n shall_v reign_v in_o equal_a degree_n with_o her_o husband_n say_v that_o the_o man_n come_v not_o of_o the_o woman_n but_o the_o woman_n of_o the_o man_n and_o that_o she_o be_v but_o a_o piece_n of_o his_o body_n for_o god_n can_v have_v create_v eve_n of_o the_o earth_n as_o well_o as_o he_o do_v adam_n the_o payment_n that_o come_v of_o my_o disobedience_n towards_o god_n for_o that_o i_o hold_v not_o myself_o in_o his_o awe_n thus_o much_o concern_v the_o word_n subjection_n which_o be_v set_v down_o here_o now_o saint_n paul_n in_o say_v as_o too_o the_o lord_n mean_v not_o too_o make_v man_n equal_a with_o god_n or_o with_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n for_o that_o be_v too_o great_a a_o oversight_n but_o he_o show_v that_o the_o fear_n and_o reverence_n which_o a_o woman_n ought_v too_o bear_v unto_o god_n and_o the_o subjection_n which_o she_o owe_v too_o her_o husband_n be_v two_o thing_n that_o can_v be_v put_v asunder_o like_v as_o when_o he_o exhort_v we_o erst_o too_o link_v together_o in_o mutual_a subjection_n 21._o he_o add_v this_o say_n in_o the_o fear_n of_o god._n other_o thing_n with_o she_o at_o home_n in_o her_o own_o house_n therein_o she_o show_v herself_o not_o too_o have_v one_o spark_n of_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n forasmuch_o as_o she_o do_v so_o hold_v scorn_n of_o her_o husband_n who_o be_v her_o head_n and_o as_o it_o be_v god_n lieutenant_n in_o that_o behalf_n therefore_o let_v we_o mark_v that_o saint_n paul_n have_v not_o set_v down_o this_o similitude_n too_o match_v husband_n who_o be_v mortal_a creature_n yea_o &_o very_a worm_n of_o the_o earth_n in_o equal_a degree_n with_o jesus_n christ_n but_o too_o show_v brief_o that_o forasmuch_o as_o our_o lord_n jesus_n have_v authority_n over_o marriage_n man_n must_v have_v a_o eye_n unto_o he_o and_o every_o person_n submit_v himself_o patient_o because_o no_o man_n can_v condition_n and_o too_o the_o end_n they_o shall_v be_v subject_a too_o their_o husband_n true_a it_o be_v that_o they_o will_v be_v so_o proud_a and_o stately_a as_o to_o say_v shall_v my_o husband_n have_v my_o head_n under_o his_o girdle_n yea_o but_o the_o wife_n that_o do_v so_o sheweth_z that_o she_o be_v loath_a that_o god_n shall_v have_v any_o authority_n over_o she_o and_o will_v fain_o stoop_v 14._o and_o too_o bear_v patient_o the_o subjection_n that_o god_n have_v lay_v upon_o they_o which_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o a_o warn_n too_o they_o too_o keep_v themselves_o low_o and_o mild_a but_o if_o they_o lift_v up_o themselves_o against_o their_o husband_n and_o can_v find_v in_o their_o heart_n too_o be_v rule_v by_o they_o it_o be_v as_o it_o be_v a_o set_n of_o their_o seal_n too_o the_o sin_n of_o adam_n and_o eve_n and_o too_o the_o disobedience_n by_o they_o commit_v too_o declare_v that_o they_o be_v not_o willing_a that_o god_n shall_v heal_v that_o wound_n again_o notwithstanding_o that_o it_o be_v deadly_a now_o when_o they_o do_v so_o make_v war_n against_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n what_o can_v come_v of_o it_o but_o utter_a confusion_n but_o the_o wife_n that_o be_v lewd_a head_v will_v not_o think_v of_o that_o but_o yet_o be_v it_o register_v before_o god_n and_o they_o must_v be_v fain_o too_o yield_v a_o account_n of_o it_o too_o their_o utter_a confusion_n and_o therefore_o let_v we_o look_v that_o we_o keep_v this_o warning_n better_o too_o the_o end_n that_o every_o man_n may_v glorify_v god_n in_o his_o own_o house_n also_o let_v the_o husband_n think_v upon_o their_o duty_n for_o although_o to_o speak_v proper_o they_o be_v not_o subject_a to_o their_o wife_n because_o their_o wife_n have_v no_o authority_n over_o they_o yet_o be_v they_o advance_v too_o that_o honour_n of_o superiority_n with_o certain_a condition_n namely_o that_o they_o shall_v not_o be_v cruel_a towards_o their_o wife_n nor_o think_v all_o thing_n grant_v and_o lawful_a which_o they_o lift_v but_o that_o their_o authority_n shall_v rather_o be_v a_o companionship_n than_o a_o kingship_n for_o doubtless_o the_o husband_n in_o not_o his_o wife_n head_n too_o oppress_v she_o or_o too_o make_v none_o account_v of_o she_o but_o let_v he_o understand_v that_o the_o authority_n which_o he_o have_v do_v bind_v he_o so_o much_o the_o more_o too_o peter_n exhort_v we_o you_o see_v then_o that_o husband_n must_v so_o require_v obedience_n at_o their_o wife_n hand_n as_o they_o themselves_o must_v therewithal_o do_v their_o own_o duty_n and_o in_o maintenance_n of_o their_o wife_n quarrel_n abroad_o and_o yet_o be_v devil_n to_o they_o at_o home_n so_o then_o the_o love_n that_o saint_n paul_n speak_v of_o be_v a_o right_a and_o good_a affection_n which_o the_o man_n bear_v too_o his_o wife_n because_o he_o know_v that_o god_n have_v knit_v they_o together_o as_o though_o he_o have_v put_v they_o together_o with_o his_o own_o hand_n and_o give_v we_o ability_n too_o persevere_v so_o as_o we_o may_v profit_v &_o go_v forward_o &_o be_v confirm_v even_o to_o the_o end_n that_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o s._n paul_n speak_v here_o of_o the_o faithful_a which_o be_v bring_v already_o into_o the_o good_a way_n and_o to_o who_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n be_v manifest_v say_v nevertheless_o that_o god_n must_v be_v fain_o too_o further_o they_o &_o give_v they_o the_o gift_n to_o hold_v out_o even_o by_o grow_a more_o and_o more_o as_o well_o in_o faith_n as_o in_o love_n and_o thereby_o we_o have_v warning_n to_o pray_v god_n to_o increase_v &_o strengthen_v our_o faith_n and_o to_o inflame_v we_o with_o charity_n and_o therewithal_o to_o make_v we_o know_v our_o imperfection_n so_o as_o although_o we_o see_v a_o number_n that_o come_v not_o near_o we_o yet_o we_o conceive_v not_o any_o pride_n too_o stand_v in_o our_o own_o conceit_n as_o though_o we_o be_v come_v too_o faith_n already_o wherefore_o let_v we_o assure_v ourselves_o that_o we_o be_v but_o in_o our_o way_n as_o long_o as_o we_o be_v in_o this_o world_n and_o therefore_o let_v we_o enforce_v ourselves_o forward_o for_o what_o perfection_n of_o faith_n so_o ever_o we_o can_v find_v among_o man_n it_o be_v certain_a that_o god_n will_v find_v much_o amiss_o in_o it_o and_o how_o far_o forward_o soever_o we_o be_v and_o how_o well_o so_o be_v thorough_o reckon_v a_o man_n shall_v find_v very_o few_o that_o love_n jesus_n christ_n uncorrupt_o that_o be_v too_o say_v which_o have_v at_o rue_n steadfastness_n or_o stoutness_n so_o as_o if_o they_o be_v tempt_v either_o with_o fear_n of_o death_n or_o with_o poverty_n yet_o notwithstanding_o they_o aâ—ter_v not_o but_o continue_v still_o in_o their_o call_n &_o show_v that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n reign_v so_o in_o they_o as_o he_o possess_v the_o bottom_n of_o their_o heart_n even_o until_o they_o be_v quite_o rid_v of_o all_o the_o imperfection_n of_o their_o flesh_n no_o doubt_n but_o the_o perfect_a have_v store_n of_o they_o and_o like_v as_o it_o may_v well_o be_v that_o a_o tree_n shall_v seem_v utter_o wither_v as_o far_o as_o can_v be_v discern_v outward_o by_o his_o branch_n &_o yet_o if_o the_o root_n continue_v still_o in_o his_o force_n the_o tree_n shall_v be_v safe_a so_o that_o although_o some_o superfluous_a bough_n be_v cut_v of_o yet_o will_v he_o spring_v again_o and_o it_o will_v appear_v plain_o that_o it_o be_v still_o alive_a within_o even_o so_o we_o from_o day_n to_o day_n cut_v of_o the_o corrpution_n of_o our_o flesh_n which_o be_v yet_o in_o we_o until_o we_o be_v come_v too_o the_o fullness_n of_o the_o incomprehensible_a perfection_n wheruntooo_o we_o labour_v as_o now_o too_o attain_v now_o let_v we_o fall_v down_o before_o the_o majesty_n of_o our_o good_a god_n with_o acknowledgement_n of_o our_o fault_n pray_v he_o too_o vouchsafe_v too_o open_v our_o eye_n more_o and_o more_o that_o we_o may_v consider_v the_o infirmity_n and_o vice_n that_o be_v in_o we_o yea_o and_o those_o also_o unto_o which_o we_o shall_v be_v give_v if_o god_n have_v not_o deliver_v we_o from_o they_o and_o shall_v not_o draw_v we_o
