than_o they_o need_v be_v on_o the_o other_o for_o man_n be_v easy_o tempt_v to_o act_v in_o compliance_n with_o their_o own_o inclination_n and_o the_o small_a good_n or_o evil_n that_o can_v be_v ungrateful_a to_o his_o nature_n so_o that_o unless_o we_o believe_v the_o good_n and_o evil_n of_o the_o other_o world_n to_o be_v incomparable_o great_a than_o all_o the_o pleasure_n of_o sin_n and_o all_o the_o suffering_n of_o piety_n and_o virtue_n there_o will_v not_o be_v force_n enough_o in_o our_o faith_n to_o persuade_v we_o because_o those_o future_a good_n and_o evil_n move_v against_o nature_n and_o persuade_v we_o to_o a_o course_n of_o life_n we_o be_v extreme_o averse_a to_o whereas_o these_o present_a one_o join_v hand_n with_o our_o inclination_n and_o find_v a_o ready_a concurrence_n in_o our_o will_n and_o affection_n and_o a_o very_a small_a temptation_n will_v prevail_v against_o a_o great_a one_o when_o it_o have_v nature_n that_o bosom_n orator_n to_o solicit_v and_o plead_v for_o it_o wherefore_o unless_o we_o believe_v the_o reward_n and_o punishment_n of_o the_o future_a state_n to_o be_v such_o as_o infinite_o outweigh_v those_o present_a soft_a rhetoric_n of_o a_o well-acted_a sorrow_n we_o may_v pierce_v his_o bowel_n and_o melt_v he_o into_o pity_n and_o compassion_n towards_o we_o for_o what_o can_v be_v more_o prevalent_a with_o such_o a_o soft_a and_o indulgent_a deity_n than_o such_o a_o mournful_a and_o passionate_a religion_n thus_o whilst_o we_o have_v wrongful_a apprehension_n of_o god_n they_o must_v necessary_o such_o perfection_n every_o man_n mind_n will_v tell_v he_o that_o between_o such_o a_o object_n and_o such_o action_n and_o affection_n there_o be_v a_o natural_a congruity_n and_o therefore_o so_o behaviour_n towards_o he_o as_o be_v suitable_a to_o the_o perfection_n of_o his_o nature_n and_o we_o shall_v worship_v he_o with_o such_o service_n as_o will_v both_o please_v and_o become_v he_o with_o admire_a thought_n and_o dutiful_a will_n and_o godlike_a affection_n with_o a_o ingenuous_a fear_n a_o humble_a confidence_n and_o a_o obedient_a love_n with_o cheerful_a praise_n and_o profound_a adoration_n with_o sober_a wise_a and_o rational_a devotion_n such_o as_o will_v wing_v and_o employ_v our_o best_a affection_n and_o most_o noble_a faculty_n for_o it_o be_v such_o a_o worship_n only_o that_o can_v suit_v such_o perfection_n and_o please_v such_o a_o nature_n as_o go_n ii_o a_o right_a apprehension_n of_o god_n be_v also_o necessary_a to_o inspire_v we_o with_o god_n or_o render_v our_o service_n so_o acceptable_a to_o he_o as_o that_o of_o love_n which_o will_v tune_v our_o will_n into_o such_o a_o harmony_n with_o god_n that_o we_o shall_v no_o long_o choose_v and_o refuse_v according_a to_o our_o particular_a like_n and_o disliking_n but_o what_o be_v most_o please_a or_o displease_v to_o he_o will_v be_v so_o to_o we_o and_o our_o will_n be_v thus_o unite_v and_o subject_v to_o his_o our_o obedience_n will_v extend_v to_o all_o his_o command_n and_o admit_v no_o other_o bound_n but_o his_o will_n and_o pleasure_n whereas_o if_o we_o do_v not_o obey_v he_o out_o of_o love_n we_o shall_v endeavour_v to_o contract_v our_o obedience_n into_o as_o narrow_a a_o compass_n as_o may_v be_v because_o we_o shall_v render_v it_o to_o he_o with_o a_o grudge_a mind_n and_o consequent_o with_o a_o narrow_a and_o stingy_a hand_n for_o we_o shall_v serve_v he_o no_o far_o than_o we_o be_v drive_v by_o fear_n and_o the_o restless_a importunity_n of_o a_o clamorous_a conscience_n and_o so_o consequent_o fall_v infinite_o short_a of_o our_o duty_n and_o take_v up_o in_o a_o partial_a and_o hypocritical_a obedience_n for_o while_o we_o do_v not_o love_v he_o it_o be_v impossible_a we_o shall_v obey_v he_o with_o a_o ready_a will_n which_o be_v the_o proper_a seat_n of_o his_o empire_n and_o while_o we_o obey_v he_o with_o a_o stubborn_a and_o rebellious_a will_n we_o be_v only_o his_o slave_n but_o the_o devil_n subject_n till_o therefore_o we_o do_v obey_v he_o at_o least_o in_o some_o measure_n from_o a_o principle_n of_o love_n it_o be_v impossible_a our_o obedience_n shall_v be_v either_o universal_a or_o sincere_a but_o to_o the_o inspire_v our_o soul_n with_o this_o principle_n there_o be_v nothing_o more_o necessary_a than_o right_a apprehension_n of_o god_n who_o in_o himself_o be_v doubtless_o the_o most_o amiable_a of_o being_n as_o have_v all_o those_o perfection_n in_o infinite_a degree_n that_o can_v beget_v or_o deserve_v a_o rational_a affection_n so_o that_o we_o can_v think_v he_o to_o be_v any_o way_n otherwise_o than_o he_o be_v without_o think_v he_o less_o lovely_a and_o detract_n more_o or_o less_o from_o the_o infinite_a beauty_n of_o his_o nature_n for_o since_o he_o can_v be_v more_o lovely_a than_o he_o be_v in_o himself_o every_o false_a apprehension_n of_o he_o must_v needs_o represent_v he_o less_o lovely_a but_o since_o of_o all_o his_o perfection_n that_o of_o his_o goodness_n be_v the_o most_o powerful_a motive_n and_o engagement_n of_o love_n there_o be_v nothing_o more_o necessary_a to_o kindle_v our_o love_n to_o he_o than_o right_a apprehension_n thereof_o for_o be_v infinite_o good_a as_o he_o be_v in_o his_o own_o nature_n it_o be_v impossible_a we_o shall_v conceive_v he_o to_o be_v better_a than_o he_o be_v and_o therefore_o every_o false_a notion_n we_o entertain_v of_o his_o goodness_n must_v necessary_o detract_v from_o it_o and_o so_o much_o as_o we_o detract_v from_o his_o goodness_n so_o much_o we_o detract_v from_o the_o principal_a reason_n and_o motive_n of_o our_o love_v he_o and_o therefore_o in_o order_n to_o the_o engage_v of_o our_o love_n to_o he_o it_o concern_v we_o above_o all_o thing_n not_o to_o entertain_v any_o opinion_n of_o he_o that_o reflect_v a_o disparagement_n on_o his_o goodness_n for_o too_o many_o such_o opinion_n there_o be_v that_o have_v be_v imbibe_v among_o christian_n as_o the_o fundamental_a principle_n of_o their_o orthodoxy_n namely_o such_o as_o these_o that_o god_n sovereign_a will_n be_v
