man_n too_o inordinate_o love_v himself_o almost_o all_o depend_v whatsoever_o be_v whole_o to_o be_v overcome_v which_o be_v once_o overcome_v &_o subdue_v there_o will_v present_o ensue_v great_a peace_n and_o tranquillity_n but_o for_o that_o few_o endeavour_n perfect_o to_o die_v unto_o themselves_o &_o to_o forsake_v themselves_o whole_o therefore_o they_o remain_v entangle_v in_o mark_v diligent_o the_o motion_n of_o thy_o own_o nature_n and_o my_o grace_n for_o in_o very_o contrary_a and_o secret_a manner_n these_o be_v move_v and_o can_v hardly_o be_v discern_v but_o by_o he_o that_o be_v spiritual_a and_o inward_o enlighten_v all_o man_n desire_v that_o which_o be_v good_a and_o pretend_v some_o good_a in_o all_o their_o word_n and_o deed_n &_o therefore_o under_o willing_o receave_v honour_n &_o reverence_n but_o grace_n faithful_o attribute_v all_o honour_n and_o glory_n unto_o god_n 3._o nature_n fear_v shame_n and_o contempt_n but_o grace_n rejoice_v to_o suffer_v reproach_n for_o the_o name_n of_o jesus_n nature_n love_v idleness_n and_o bodily_a rest_n but_o grace_n can_v be_v idle_a but_o willing_o embrace_v labour_n nature_n seek_v to_o have_v those_o thing_n that_o be_v curious_a and_o precious_a abhor_v that_o which_o be_v mean_a and_o base_a but_o grace_n delight_v in_o plain_a &_o humble_a thing_n despise_v not_o course_n and_o mean_a nor_o refuse_v to_o wear_v that_o which_o be_v old_a &_o tear_a nature_n respect_v the_o thing_n of_o this_o world_n rejoice_v at_o earthly_a gain_n sorrow_v for_o loss_n be_v move_v with_o every_o little_a injurious_a word_n but_o grace_n think_v on_o that_o which_o be_v everlasting_a and_o cleave_v not_o to_o that_o which_o fade_v with_o time_n she_o be_v not_o trouble_v with_o loss_n nor_o exasperate_v with_o injury_n for_o that_o she_o have_v place_v her_o treasure_n and_o joy_n in_o heaven_n where_o nothing_o perish_v 4._o nature_n be_v covetous_a and_o do_v more_o willing_o receive_v seldom_o love_v any_o with_o perfect_a spiritual_a love_n they_o be_v always_o much_o draw_v by_o a_o natural_a affection_n and_o humane_a friendship_n to_o this_o man_n or_o to_o that_o &_o according_a to_o the_o experience_n they_o have_v of_o themselves_o in_o their_o earthly_a affection_n so_o they_o frame_v a_o imagination_n of_o heavenly_a thing_n but_o there_o be_v a_o incomparable_a distance_n between_o the_o thing_n which_o the_o imperfect_a frame_n in_o their_o conceit_n and_o those_o which_o illuminate_v person_n do_v see_v by_o revelation_n from_o above_o 7._o beware_v therefore_o my_o son_n that_o thou_o treat_v not_o curious_o of_o these_o thing_n 3._o eccli_n 3._o which_o exceed_v thy_o knowledge_n but_o rather_o so_o apply_v thy_o endeavour_n that_o thou_o may_v at_o least_o have_v the_o mean_a place_n in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n and_o if_o any_o one_o do_v know_v which_o of_o the_o saint_n exceed_v other_o in_o sanctity_n or_o be_v esteem_v great_a in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n what_o will_v this_o knowledge_n avail_v he_o unless_o he_o shall_v thereby_o humble_v himself_o the_o more_o in_o my_o sight_n and_o stir_v up_o his_o mind_n to_o praise_v my_o name_n with_o great_a fervour_n his_o labour_n be_v much_o more_o acceptable_a unto_o god_n that_o think_v of_o the_o greatness_n of_o his_o sin_n and_o his_o want_n of_o virtue_n &_o how_o far_o off_o he_o be_v from_o the_o perfection_n of_o the_o saint_n then_o he_o that_o dispute_v of_o their_o greatness_n it_o be_v better_a to_o pray_v to_o the_o saint_n with_o devotion_n &_o tear_n and_o to_o crave_v their_o glorious_a suffrage_n with_o a_o humble_a mind_n then_o to_o search_v their_o secret_n with_o vain_a curiosity_n 8._o they_o be_v well_o and_o right_o well_o content_v if_o man_n can_v content_v themselves_o and_o refrain_v from_o these_o vain_a discourse_n they_o glory_v not_o of_o their_o own_o merit_n for_o they_o ascribe_v no_o good_a
