particular_o draw_v the_o use_n to_o a_o few_o thing_n which_o the_o scripture_n point_v at_o and_o which_o a_o man_n must_v necessary_o be_v deny_v to_o or_o else_o he_o be_v not_o fit_a to_o follow_v christ_n 1._o he_o must_v be_v deny_v to_o the_o principle_n of_o carnal_a reason_n to_o his_o own_o wit_n to_o the_o counsel_n of_o flesh_n and_o blood_n he_o must_v not_o consult_v therewith_o as_o the_o great_a apostle_n tell_v we_o gal._n 1.16_o he_o heed_v it_o not_o and_o which_o be_v one_o of_o the_o main_a thing_n intend_v here_o he_o must_v not_o be_v much_o up_o nor_o down_o with_o external_a conveniency_n or_o inconvenience_n or_o event_n which_o carnal_a reason_n use_v to_o stretch_v very_o broad_a 2_o he_o must_v be_v deny_v to_o his_o credit_n and_o estimation_n and_o in_o that_o be_v like_a to_o a_o little_a child_n and_o in_o this_o respect_n he_o that_o be_v minister_n and_o servant_n of_o all_o shall_v be_v great_a of_o all_o he_o must_v nor_o be_v like_o the_o pharisee_n who_o seek_v the_o uppermost_a seat_n at_o feast_n and_o greeting_n in_o the_o market_n nor_o love_n or_o seek_v to_o be_v call_v rabbi_n but_o he_o must_v be_v content_a to_o bear_v reproach_n and_o not_o to_o fret_v nor_o canker_n under_o it_o 3_o he_o must_v be_v deny_v to_o his_o ease_n outward_a accommodation_n or_o pleasure_n he_o must_v not_o seek_v to_o please_v himself_o his_o great_a design_n must_v not_o be_v to_o have_v or_o maintain_v a_o easy_a life_n to_o himself_o in_o the_o world_n but_o he_o must_v be_v content_a to_o accept_v of_o any_o condition_n god_n carve_v out_o to_o he_o herein_o 4_o he_o must_v be_v deny_v to_o his_o profit_n as_o he_o must_v be_v crucify_v to_o all_o creature-comfort_n in_o general_a so_o to_o this_o in_o particular_a he_o must_v not_o seek_v his_o own_o thing_n only_o but_o the_o thing_n of_o other_o also_o 5_o he_o must_v be_v deny_v to_o his_o own_o righteousness_n gift_n privilege_n and_o part_n to_o his_o good_a work_n and_o whatever_o be_v commendable_a and_o good_a in_o himself_o and_o so_o account_v of_o himself_o as_o if_o he_o have_v they_o not_o count_v all_o these_o thing_n to_o be_v but_o loss_n and_o dung_n that_o he_o may_v win_v christ_n and_o be_v find_v in_o he_o 6_o he_o must_v be_v deny_v to_o his_o own_o strength_n and_o ability_n and_o to_o selfconfidence_n deadn_v to_o every_o good_a thing_n in_o himself_o so_o as_o to_o rest_v on_o it_o 1_o cor._n 1.9_o we_o receive_v say_v the_o apostle_n the_o sentence_n of_o death_n in_o ourselves_o that_o we_o may_v learn_v not_o to_o trust_v in_o ourselves_o trust_v in_o ourselves_o be_v a_o very_a ordinary_a fault_n and_o it_o be_v a_o hard_a matter_n to_o go_v about_o duty_n without_o lipn_v to_o ourselves_o 7_o he_o must_v be_v deny_v to_o all_o inordinat_a love_n and_o affection_n to_o all_o near_a and_o dear_a natural_a relation_n to_o wife_n husband_n father_n mother_n child_n brother_n and_o sister_n yea_o and_o to_o his_o own_o life_n also_o however_o love_v to_o these_o be_v not_o only_o lawful_a but_o a_o command_v and_o commendable_a duty_n yet_o when_o they_o come_v in_o competition_n with_o christ_n and_o any_o concern_v of_o he_o we_o must_v carry_v towards_o they_o as_o if_o we_o hate_v they_o the_o second_o use_n serve_v for_o exhortation_n to_o this_o duty_n take_v o_o take_v christ_n for_o your_o pattern_n and_o learn_v at_o he_o to_o deny_v yourselves_o and_o let_v his_o example_n be_v a_o motive_n to_o stir_v you_o up_o to_o it_o as_o well_o as_o a_o copy_n and_o pattern_n for_o your_o imitation_n for_o 1._o christ_n come_v not_o to_o do_v his_o own_o will_n but_o the_o will_n of_o he_o that_o send_v he_o 2_o in_o all_o his_o conversation_n he_o please_v not_o himself_o but_o as_o it_o be_v write_v the_o reproach_n of_o they_o that_o reproach_v his_o father_n f●ll_v on_o he_o 3_o the_o manner_n of_o his_o deportment_n be_v in_o much_o patience_n meekness_n and_o lowliness_n of_o spirit_n when_o he_o be_v buffet_v he_o bless_v &_o p●ayed_v even_o for_o his_o persecutor_n when_o he_o be_v spitte●_n o●_n &_o e●●●ed_n he●_n evil_o not_o again_o 4_o let_v we_o look_v to_o he_o 〈◊〉_d suffering_n o_o how_o submissive_a be_v he_o there_o f●●her_o say_v he_o most_o sweet_o not_o my_o will_n but_o thou_o be_v do_v be_v there_o ever_o such_o a_o cup_n of_o wrath_n put_v in_o the_o hand_n of_o any_o to_o drink_v as_o be_v put_v in_o he_o at_o which_o though_o he_o have_v a_o sinless_a natural_a reluctance_n yet_o he_o will_v not_o have_v a_o will_n of_o his_o own_o in_o that_o case_n but_o submit_v to_o his_o father_n will_n he_o will_v not_o hear_v on_o that_o ear_n to_o speak_v so_o with_o reverence_n but_o with_o his_o mouth_n he_o contradict_v the_o sinless_a reluctance_n and_o aversion_n of_o his_o holy_a innocent_a humane_a nature_n 5_o in_o a_o word_n look_v to_o he_o in_o his_o birth_n all_o along_o in_o his_o life_n in_o his_o suffer_v and_o die_v there_o be_v nothing_o in_o all_o these_o but_o it_o speak_v out_o somewhat_o of_o his_o deny_v himself_n as_o all_o the_o step_n and_o degree_n of_o his_o humiliation_n and_o stoop_v so_o very_o low_a smell_v strong_a of_o self-denial_n so_o they_o serve_v to_o teach_v his_o disciple_n how_o to_o follow_v he_o in_o that_o way_n and_o to_o provock_n and_o stir_v they_o up_o thereto_o therefore_o in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n we_o exhort_v you_o to_o study_v this_o lesson_n well_o and_o to_o learn_v it_o of_o he_o even_o to_o live_v so_o in_o the_o world_n as_o if_o there_o be_v nothing_o in_o it_o to_o tempt_v you_o to_o live_v as_o if_o you_o be_v dead_a &_o as_o if_o all_o be_v dead_a about_o you_o in_o respect_n of_o be_v sway_v by_o any_o inordinat_a respect_n to_o yourselves_o and_o so_o much_o the_o rather_o because_o at_o this_o time_n god_n seem_v to_o be_v call_v more_o especial_o to_o it_o the_o cross_n be_v at_o our_o
