child_n lay_v two_o main_a argument_n for_o the_o better_a provoke_v of_o man_n to_o the_o love_n of_o god_n child_n one_o from_o the_o example_n of_o god_n love_n towards_o they_o in_o make_v they_o of_o these_o two_o point_n let_v we_o observe_v these_o two_o thing_n viz._n 1._o the_o exhortation_n itself_o to_o the_o serious_a consideration_n of_o the_o excellency_n of_o god_n child_n 2._o the_o prevent_n of_o a_o objection_n that_o may_v have_v be_v make_v against_o the_o same_o the_o exhortation_n be_v in_o these_o word_n behold_v what_o love_n the_o father_n have_v give_v unto_o we_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v call_v the_o son_n of_o god_n the_o prevent_n of_o the_o objection_n be_v in_o the_o word_n follow_v both_o in_o that_o verse_n and_o also_o in_o the_o second_o then_o in_o of_o the_o word_n be_v necessary_a partly_o to_o increase_v his_o knowledge_n which_o be_v always_o imperfect_a 1._o cor._n 13._o 9_o and_o partly_o to_o help_v his_o memory_n in_o those_o thing_n he_o know_v yea_o to_o strengthen_v the_o same_o and_o as_o it_o be_v to_o stop_v the_o hole_n thereof_o for_o the_o time_n to_o come_v that_o the_o thing_n which_o they_o shall_v hear_v may_v not_o at_o any_o time_n run_v out_o heb._n 2._o 1._o and_o partly_o to_o quicken_v he_o both_o to_o obedience_n according_a to_o his_o knowledge_n and_o also_o to_o make_v use_n of_o the_o word_n for_o his_o comfort_n for_o his_o humble_v for_o his_o strengthen_n that_o he_o may_v not_o fall_v for_o his_o raise_n if_o he_o shall_v fall_v and_o many_o other_o way_n for_o alas_o what_o be_v the_o best_a and_o most_o godly_a man_n that_o be_v but_o drowsy_a and_o dull_a need_v both_o to_o be_v awaken_v daily_o and_o also_o with_o the_o spur_n as_o it_o be_v of_o the_o word_n to_o be_v quicken_v little_a fire_n a_o coal_n or_o two_o kindle_v under_o and_o in_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o greenewood_n which_o will_v easy_o be_v quench_v and_o go_v out_o without_o continual_a puff_a and_o blow_v for_o nourish_v maintain_v and_o increase_a thereof_o neither_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n in_o this_o manner_n only_o a_o great_a benefit_n for_o the_o child_n of_o god_n in_o respect_n of_o the_o writing_n and_o preach_v thereof_o that_o so_o they_o may_v both_o hear_v it_o and_o read_v it_o but_o also_o because_o they_o may_v at_o all_o time_n both_o confer_v thereof_o with_o other_o and_o also_o private_o meditate_v thereof_o by_o themselves_o yea_o this_o conference_n and_o meditation_n must_v go_v with_o hear_v and_o read_v otherwise_o all_o hear_n and_o read_v will_v be_v to_o sweet_a pass_v away_o of_o the_o time_n in_o meditation_n of_o the_o word_n this_o be_v the_o more_o because_o the_o wicked_a not_o have_v this_o privilege_n do_v either_o spend_v their_o time_n in_o eat_v drink_v swill_a card_v dice_a dance_a chamber_a wantonness_n and_o in_o all_o vanity_n or_o else_o they_o find_v all_o thing_n more_o tedious_a unto_o they_o than_o they_o can_v bear_v above_o whereas_o the_o affliction_n of_o the_o wicked_a shall_v slay_v they_o and_o they_o that_o hate_v the_o righteous_a shall_v perish_v psal_n 34._o 19_o 20._o 21._o therefore_o solomon_n admonish_v the_o wicked_a not_o to_o lay_v wait_v at_o the_o house_n of_o the_o righteous_a because_o though_o the_o just_a man_n fall_v seven_o time_n yet_o he_o rise_v again_o that_o be_v though_o he_o have_v affliction_n of_o his_o child_n to_o continue_v yet_o in_o the_o end_n he_o will_v most_o gracious_o deliver_v they_o by_o death_n and_o translate_v they_o to_o himself_o where_o they_o shall_v rest_v from_o their_o labour_n and_o where_o they_o shall_v reap_v the_o fruit_n of_o all_o their_o work_n revel_v 14_o 13._o of_o the_o which_o rest_n and_o other_o reward_n of_o their_o work_n all_o the_o affliction_n of_o this_o life_n be_v not_o to_o be_v account_v worthy_a rom_n 8._o 18._o yea_o in_o respect_n of_o which_o most_o excellent_a and_o eternal_a weight_n of_o glory_n all_o affliction_n here_o be_v but_o exceed_a light_n and_o momentany_a 2._o cor._n 4._o 17._o but_o of_o this_o more_o afterward_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n the_o lord_n will_v either_o mitigate_v the_o say_a bondage_n as_o well_o as_o freedom_n loss_n as_o well_o as_o gain_v barrenness_n of_o the_o body_n as_o well_o as_o fruitfulness_n a_o troublesome_a wife_n as_o well_o as_o a_o comfortable_a wife_n wicked_a and_o rebellious_a child_n as_o well_o as_o good_a and_o dutiful_a death_n of_o father_n mother_n brother_n sister_n husband_n wife_n child_n and_o other_o friend_n as_o well_o as_o the_o life_n and_o long_a continuance_n of_o they_o travel_v abroad_o as_o well_o as_o keep_n at_o home_n banishment_n as_o well_o as_o abide_n in_o our_o own_o country_n the_o hatred_n and_o displeasure_n of_o man_n even_o of_o the_o mighty_a man_n of_o the_o world_n as_o well_o as_o their_o love_n and_o friendship_n danger_n as_o well_o as_o safety_n foul_a or_o cold_a weather_n as_o well_o as_o fair_a and_o hot_a weather_n to_o conclude_v death_n as_o well_o as_o life_n and_o any_o one_o thing_n else_o as_o well_o as_o another_o all_o this_o be_v so_o to_o be_v understand_v that_o we_o may_v admire_v the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n in_o turn_v all_o thing_n to_o good_a to_o they_o that_o love_v note_n note_n he_o and_o that_o we_o acknowledge_v the_o state_n and_o condition_n of_o such_o to_o
