see_v be_v a_o endure_a substance_n for_o all_o eternity_n but_o the_o scholar_n teach_v in_o the_o school_n of_o christ_n account_v it_o their_o chief_a learning_n to_o learn_v and_o by_o learning_n to_o be_v in_o both_o at_o once_o and_o indeed_o this_o be_v a_o main_a business_n of_o this_o work_n to_o conjoin_v thing_n which_o god_n have_v not_o separate_v and_o not_o to_o diminish_v but_o to_o advance_v the_o low_a by_o lift_v it_o up_o to_o the_o high_a now_o to_o ascend_v from_o the_o low_a to_o the_o high_a there_o be_v certain_a stair_n and_o step_n by_o which_o man_n usual_o go_v up_o and_o become_v disciple_n and_o pupil_n of_o the_o heavenly_a teacher_n a_o first_o step_n be_v that_o which_o shall_v ever_o be_v first_o in_o intention_n though_o last_o in_o assecution_n a_o right_a end_n when_o we_o come_v to_o god_n to_o be_v teach_v we_o must_v propose_v a_o end_n worthy_a of_o god_n and_o sure_o none_o but_o god_n be_v a_o end_n worthy_a of_o god_n a_o most_o perverse_a and_o base_a disorder_n it_o be_v to_o make_v man_n the_o end_n of_o god_n and_o much_o more_o confuse_a and_o disorderly_o be_v it_o to_o make_v god_n to_o serve_v man_n in_o his_o service_n of_o some_o base_a lust_n for_o than_o may_v he_o not_o only_o say_v thou_o have_v make_v i_o to_o serve_v with_o thy_o sin_n but_o thou_o have_v make_v i_o to_o serve_v thy_o sin_n thou_o put_v god_n below_o thy_o sin_n and_o put_v thy_o sin_n to_o be_v thy_o god_n and_o how_o can_v thou_o expect_v that_o god_n shall_v by_o his_o teach_n give_v thou_o a_o excellence_n above_o other_o when_o thou_o by_o his_o own_o gift_n do_v intend_v to_o put_v either_o his_o creature_n which_o he_o have_v make_v or_o sin_n which_o he_o make_v not_o above_o he_o and_o he_o infinite_o below_o himself_o wherefore_o let_v not_o ambition_n make_v 203._o worldly_a pomp_n which_o thou_o have_v renounce_v in_o thy_o baptism_n nor_o the_o pride_n of_o life_n and_o outward_a preferment_n thy_o purpose_n or_o profession_n submit_v to_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n have_v be_v the_o cause_n of_o many_o dangerous_a error_n in_o the_o church_n i_o say_v a_o mixture_n of_o man_n wit_n with_o the_o divine_a word_n have_v breed_v mule_n in_o divinity_n even_o confuse_v foolish_a and_o misshape_a error_n but_o let_v the_o learner_n in_o this_o high_a academy_n lie_v aside_o his_o own_o sight_n which_o be_v blindness_n and_o get_v from_o his_o teacher_n that_o eyesalve_n which_o may_v give_v he_o spiritual_a discern_v let_v he_o keep_v his_o wit_n in_o a_o perpetual_a captivity_n and_o passiveness_n to_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o beware_v that_o by_o no_o mean_n he_o make_v that_o portion_n of_o spirit_n which_o be_v in_o he_o to_o suffer_v under_o the_o activity_n of_o his_o own_o carnal_a wit_n but_o have_v receive_v a_o eye_n from_o god_n let_v he_o see_v god_n matter_n with_o god_n eye_n and_o so_o shall_v he_o keep_v himself_o safe_a from_o error_n and_o shall_v be_v lead_v into_o the_o truth_n for_o a_o mind_n give_v of_o god_n do_v approve_v only_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n and_o though_o in_o this_o life_n of_o imperfection_n no_o man_n have_v so_o much_o spiritual_a light_n as_o to_o discern_v all_o truth_n yet_o the_o spiritual_a light_n which_o every_o spiritual_a man_n that_o be_v teach_v of_o god_n receive_v be_v sufficient_a for_o the_o discovery_n or_o discern_v of_o so_o much_o truth_n as_o may_v lead_v he_o like_o a_o stream_n to_o the_o ocean_n and_o fullness_n of_o truth_n and_o blessedness_n and_o for_o a_o preparation_n towards_o this_o fullness_n let_v he_o work_v out_o and_o endeavour_v to_o perfect_v his_o own_o emptiness_n for_o the_o more_o degree_n he_o gain_v of_o this_o emptiness_n the_o more_o degree_n shall_v he_o receive_v of_o god_n fullness_n even_o of_o his_o teach_a grace_n here_o and_o his_o crown_a grace_n for_o ever_o hereafter_o chap._n viii_o a_o three_o step_n conformity_n to_o god_n such_o a_o marriage_n there_o be_v also_o a_o marriage-love_n between_o they_o now_o marriage-love_n do_v communicate_v counsel_n and_o it_o be_v so_o hard_a if_o not_o impossible_a for_o marriage-love_n to_o deny_v such_o a_o communication_n that_o the_o woman_n who_o can_v only_o make_v she_o challenge_v upon_o a_o counterfeit_a shape_n of_o marriage_n yet_o think_v it_o fit_a to_o object_v this_o question_n how_o can_v thou_o say_v that_o thou_o love_v i_o when_o thy_o heart_n be_v not_o with_o i_o and_o why_o be_v not_o his_o heart_n with_o she_o because_o he_o do_v not_o tell_v she_o his_o counsel_n even_o such_o counsel_n as_o be_v tell_v may_v endanger_v his_o liberty_n and_o life_n but_o christ_n the_o best_a husband_n have_v give_v his_o life_n for_o his_o spouse_n and_o himself_o to_o his_o spouse_n in_o a_o sacred_a union_n how_o shall_v he_o not_o with_o his_o life_n and_o himself_o give_v she_o his_o counsel_n also_o it_o be_v his_o own_o word_n if_o the_o wife_n be_v ignorant_a or_o doubtful_a let_v they_o ask_v their_o husband_n herein_o he_o imply_v that_o if_o the_o wife_n do_v ask_v their_o husband_n they_o be_v ask_v shall_v be_v willing_a to_o reach_v their_o wife_n sure_o if_o christ_n require_v this_o willingness_n to_o teach_v in_o low_a and_o mean_a husband_n who_o knowledge_n yea_o who_o love_n can_v be_v here_o in_o perfection_n will_v not_o this_o husband_n who_o be_v light_v itself_o and_o love_n itself_o teach_v his_o own_o wife_n by_o this_o most_o perfect_a light_n and_o from_o this_o most_o perfect_a love_n will_v make_v she_o to_o see_v the_o counsel_n of_o his_o word_n he_o will_v give_v she_o a_o inward_a and_o spiritual_a eye_n to_o see_v the_o inward_a riches_n and_o reality_n of_o his_o counsel_n so_o that_o whereas_o the_o world_n can_v see_v the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n and_o the_o precious_a thing_n contain_v in_o it_o for_o the_o mystery_n the_o spouse_n by_o this_o new_a
light_n look_v within_o the_o veil_n of_o 19_o the_o mystery_n shall_v see_v the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n and_o most_o excellent_a treasure_n contain_v in_o it_o present_v and_o offer_v by_o it_o wherefore_o that_o god_n in_o christ_n may_v be_v thy_o teacher_n study_v this_o conformity_n to_o god_n which_o by_o likeness_n by_o covenant_n by_o friendship_n by_o marriage-love_n may_v draw_v take_v off_o this_o veil_n thou_o be_v in_o the_o school_n of_o the_o prince_n of_o darkness_n and_o be_v not_o yet_o teachable_a by_o the_o father_n of_o light_n but_o if_o this_o veil_n of_o the_o old_a man_n be_v first_o remove_v by_o mortification_n &_o thou_o shall_v in_o the_o second_o place_n put_v on_o the_o new_a man_n wherein_o be_v the_o image_n of_o god_n light_a agreeable_a to_o therein_o also_o see_v his_o covenant_n and_o see_v his_o covenant_n he_o will_v take_v thou_o for_o his_o friend_n yea_o for_o his_o spouse_n and_o by_o all_o these_o as_o by_o so_o many_o cord_n of_o love_n he_o will_v be_v draw_v to_o teach_v thou_o be_v thus_o pure_a in_o heart_n thou_o shall_v see_v god_n thou_o shall_v see_v he_o here_o guide_v and_o teach_v thou_o and_o hereafter_o in_o our_o eye_n and_o heart_n chief_o on_o the_o inward_a teacher_n which_o be_v god_n we_o shall_v challenge_v he_o upon_o his_o covenant_n and_o promise_n say_v and_o pray_v remember_v thy_o promise_n to_o thy_o servant_n wherein_o thou_o have_v make_v he_o to_o hope_v and_o therefore_o speak_v lord_n that_o thy_o servant_n may_v hear_v for_o without_o thy_o speak_n thy_o servant_n can_v hear_v insufficiency_n yea_o the_o insufficiency_n of_o the_o best_a teacher_n in_o the_o world_n for_o who_o be_v sufficient_a for_o these_o thing_n to_o teach_v thou_o inward_o what_o he_o teach_v thou_o outward_o 16._o and_o know_v that_o the_o sufficiency_n 6._o of_o inward_a teach_n come_v only_o from_o god_n therefore_o while_o thy_o outward_a ear_n expect_v the_o outward_a word_n of_o the_o outward_a teacher_n let_v thy_o inward_a ear_n expect_v the_o inward_a teach_n of_o the_o inward_a and_o high_a teacher_n 7._o for_o 2._o thus_o only_o may_v the_o plant_n though_o of_o paul_n himself_o and_o the_o water_v though_o of_o apollo_n be_v make_v something_o even_o when_o god_n give_v a_o increase_n which_o otherwise_o be_v nothing_o and_o be_v thus_o inward_o teach_v to_o profit_n and_o increase_v thou_o be_v teach_v according_a to_o the_o new_a covenant_n for_o thou_o be_v teach_v of_o god_n come_v therefore_o diligent_o to_o this_o school_n of_o he_o where_o he_o use_v thus_o to_o teach_v believe_v his_o covenant_n and_o take_v it_o by_o believe_v and_o second_o that_o thou_o may_v the_o better_o believe_v and_o take_v it_o he_o have_v give_v thou_o seal_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n by_o which_o the_o new_a covenant_n be_v present_v unto_o thy_o faith_n seal_v and_o confirm_v by_o this_o confirmation_n and_o seal_v thy_o faith_n shall_v be_v increase_v and_o by_o the_o increase_n of_o thy_o faith_n thy_o union_n with_o christ_n jesus_n the_o mediator_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n will_v be_v increase_v and_o by_o the_o increase_n of_o this_o union_n there_o will_v be_v a_o increase_n of_o the_o spirit_n the_o promise_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n which_o know_v the_o thing_n of_o god_n and_o which_o will_v show_v they_o more_o unto_o thou_o the_o more_o it_o be_v in_o thou_o when_o thou_o be_v baptize_v into_o christ_n thou_o do_v put_v on_o christ_n and_o when_o thou_o eat_v the_o spiritual_a meat_n and_o drink_v the_o spiritual_a drink_n
