child_n all_o these_o be_v human_a respect_n and_o affection_n and_o therefore_o of_o no_o merit_n or_o esteem_v before_o god_n yet_o of_o their_o own_o nature_n they_o be_v not_o ill_o but_o indifferent_a wherefore_o those_o who_o out_o of_o such_o affection_n do_v contract_n marriage_n or_o beget_v child_n or_o bring_v they_o up_o beget_v merit_v nothing_o before_o almighty_a god_n and_o loose_v all_o their_o labour_n and_o charge_n which_o they_o be_v at_o as_o far_o forth_o as_o this_o to_o wit_n that_o they_o shall_v not_o receive_v eternal_a reward_n for_o they_o but_o only_o a_o temporal_a comfort_n or_o commodity_n for_o as_o a_o human_a affection_n be_v not_o meritorious_a before_o almighty_a god_n no_o more_o also_o be_v the_o work_n which_o follow_v out_o of_o it_o although_o it_o be_v frequent_a and_o laborious_a in_o like_a manner_n to_o love_n and_o follow_v honour_n riches_n magistracy_n dignity_n and_o pleasure_n for_o the_o commodity_n splendour_n and_o sweetness_n which_o we_o perceive_v in_o they_o although_o of_o itself_o it_o be_v no_o sin_n neither_o likewise_o be_v it_o of_o any_o desert_n but_o rather_o appertain_v to_o the_o delight_n of_o such_o thing_n as_o be_v the_o concupiscence_n of_o the_o flesh_n of_o the_o eye_n and_o pride_n of_o life_n and_o which_o proceed_v out_o of_o a_o corrupt_a nature_n not_o out_o of_o the_o inspiration_n of_o divine_a grace_n the_o same_o likewise_o be_v to_o be_v say_v of_o the_o affection_n of_o parent_n whereby_o they_o wish_v and_o procure_v these_o content_n &_o pleasure_n unto_o their_o child_n for_o even_o as_o when_o they_o desire_v and_o obtain_v these_o thing_n for_o themselves_o they_o deserve_v nothing_o at_o the_o hand_n of_o almighty_a god_n no_o more_o likewise_o do_v they_o when_o they_o do_v the_o like_a in_o their_o child_n behalf_n yea_o this_o affection_n be_v not_o only_o not_o meritorious_a before_o almighty_a god_n but_o also_o it_o be_v not_o so_o much_o as_o a_o work_n of_o any_o virtue_n for_o first_o of_o all_o that_o it_o not_o a_o work_n proceed_v out_o of_o any_o divine_a or_o infuse_a virtue_n it_o be_v manifest_a since_o it_o may_v be_v find_v also_o in_o heathen_n themselves_o and_o the_o most_o wicked_a person_n that_o live_v also_o that_o such_o affection_n proceed_v not_o out_o of_o any_o moral_a or_o philosophical_a virtue_n it_o be_v plain_a for_o they_o respect_v not_o their_o object_n as_o they_o be_v honest_a and_o reasonable_a as_o the_o nature_n of_o such_o virtue_n require_v but_o as_o they_o be_v delightful_a &_o commodious_a or_o honourable_a whence_o it_o be_v that_o no_o man_n by_o such_o a_o affection_n become_v praise_v worthy_a which_o be_v the_o propriety_n of_o virtue_n as_o no_o man_n be_v worthy_a of_o praise_n for_o that_o he_o love_v or_o get_v riches_n honour_n plea_n sure_n or_o for_o love_v his_o child_n because_o he_o be_v fair_a or_o because_o he_o be_v like_o he_o for_o sing_v well_o dance_v well_o speak_v well_o or_o be_v endue_v with_o such_o like_a civil_a ornament_n or_o quality_n all_o such_o affection_n be_v only_o natural_a and_o indifferent_a and_o therefore_o of_o no_o desert_n or_o merit_n in_o the_o sight_n of_o almighty_a god_n before_o his_o tribunal_n seat_n therefore_o as_o he_o which_o give_v alm_n to_o the_o poor_a prodigal_o and_o vayneglorious_o to_o make_v himself_o honour_v and_o esteem_v the_o more_o of_o man_n according_a to_o the_o word_n of_o our_o saviour_n shall_v have_v no_o reward_n before_o almighty_a god_n but_o receive_v all_o his_o reward_n in_o the_o praise_n which_o he_o get_v of_o man_n in_o so_o do_v so_o those_o which_o marry_v for_o respect_n of_o pleasure_n or_o riches_n those_o which_o desire_v to_o have_v child_n or_o to_o bring_v they_o up_o to_o have_v contentment_n who_o day_n and_o night_n only_o take_v care_n how_o they_o may_v leave_v they_o a_o large_a and_o ample_a inheritance_n that_o they_o may_v promote_v they_o to_o honour_n office_n dignity_n or_o wealthy_a marriage_n deserve_v nothing_o before_o god_n but_o receive_v their_o reward_n in_o the_o temporal_a contentement_n which_o by_o this_o mean_v they_o procure_v either_o to_o themselves_o or_o to_o their_o child_n therefore_o to_o speak_v true_o their_o labour_n and_o care_n be_v all_o lose_v neither_o do_v they_o reap_v any_o fruit_n at_o all_o to_o be_v account_v of_o from_o all_o this_o for_o nothing_o be_v to_o be_v esteem_v of_o any_o great_a value_n but_o that_o which_o be_v everlasting_a all_o temporal_a thing_n be_v of_o small_a account_n pass_v away_o as_o shadow_n &_o therefore_o most_o unworthy_a to_o spend_v all_o the_o vigour_n &_o principal_a act_n of_o our_o soul_n about_o they_o which_o be_v ordain_v for_o thing_n eternal_a heerupon_o holy_a scripture_n every_o where_o call_v we_o from_o the_o love_n and_o desire_v of_o riches_n honour_n and_o pleasure_n and_o tell_v we_o that_o such_o as_o be_v poor_a meek_a &_o oppress_v be_v only_o happy_a neither_o be_v all_o these_o labour_n and_o pain_n of_o parent_n only_o unprofitable_a but_o they_o be_v also_o hurtful_a and_o the_o original_a cause_n of_o infinite_a evil_n from_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o infinite_a number_n of_o man_n in_o the_o world_n who_o damn_v there_o own_o soul_n which_o otherwise_o may_v have_v be_v
