of_o this_o before_o all_o other_o thing_n thus_o epaphras_n tell_v he_o of_o the_o colossian_n estate_n thus_o he_o learn_v out_o the_o famous_a faith_n of_o the_o roman_n thus_o he_o learn_v by_o some_o of_o the_o house_n of_o cloe_n the_o state_n of_o the_o corinthian_n natural_a man_n will_v inquire_v &_o hearken_v after_o the_o health_n of_o their_o friend_n how_o they_o be_v in_o body_n and_o estate_n thus_o this_o spiritual_a man_n he_o be_v still_o learning_n how_o the_o soul_n of_o the_o church_n prosper_v it_o behove_v shepherd_n to_o know_v their_o flock_n natural_a parent_n if_o they_o have_v child_n at_o the_o university_n they_o will_v inquire_v how_o they_o go_v on_o in_o learning_n and_o virtue_n thus_o this_o father_n of_o soul_n absent_a from_o they_o can_v do_v no_o other_o but_o be_v delight_v to_o learn_v how_o they_o do_v grow_v towards_o god_n use_v which_o thing_n may_v check_v many_o pastor_n nowadays_o who_o epistle_n if_o one_o read_v you_o shall_v find_v nothing_o they_o listen_v after_o but_o news_n like_o those_o athenian_n act_n 17._o news_n fit_a for_o man_n that_o follow_v the_o exchange_n then_o for_o those_o who_o be_v father_n in_o church_n again_o this_o do_v show_v how_o wide_o they_o be_v who_o think_v it_o curiosity_n in_o minister_n if_o they_o look_v into_o the_o manner_n more_o near_o of_o their_o people_n what_o need_v alas_o they_o consider_v not_o that_o minister_n be_v shepherd_n watchman_n overseer_n etc._n etc._n and_o that_o this_o be_v the_o key_n which_o open_v they_o the_o way_n into_o all_o the_o part_n of_o their_o duty_n viz._n the_o knowledge_n of_o their_o state_n to_o who_o they_o be_v to_o speak_v doct._n 2_o second_o observe_v about_o what_o the_o faith_n of_o these_o ephesian_n be_v occupy_v even_o about_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n we_o read_v sometime_o the_o faith_n of_o christ_n sometime_o the_o faith_n on_o christ_n sometime_o faith_n in_o christ_n as_o here_o they_o note_v much_o the_o same_o thing_n but_o that_o the_o first_o may_v be_v conceive_v as_o propound_v christ_n the_o simple_a object_n of_o faith_n the_o second_o phrase_n note_v christ_n the_o object_n together_o with_o our_o adhere_n to_o he_o the_o three_o note_v christ_n the_o object_n our_o inner_a in_o he_o together_o with_o the_o word_n pround_v as_o the_o way_n and_o mean_v by_o which_o we_o come_v beleeve_o to_o inhere_o in_o he_o for_o that_o distinction_n which_o some_o make_v follow_v some_o of_o the_o ancient_a be_v not_o by_o scripture_n warrantable_a which_o do_v indifferent_o appropriate_v these_o two_o phrase_n to_o the_o saint_n to_o believe_v in_o the_o lord_n jesus_n and_o to_o believe_v on_o he_o christ_n be_v every_o where_o make_v the_o thing_n which_o faith_n embrace_v to_o salvation_n so_o god_n love_v the_o world_n that_o he_o give_v his_o son_n who_o he_o have_v set_v forth_o a_o propitiatory_a sacrifice_n through_o faith_n on_o his_o blood_n through_o faith_n on_o he_o we_o hope_v to_o be_v save_v as_o other_o not_o that_o christ_n be_v the_o only_a object_n about_o which_o faith_n be_v exercise_v but_o it_o be_v the_o principal_a of_o all_o other_o and_o the_o sole_a object_n about_o which_o it_o be_v occupy_v that_o it_o may_v obtain_v righteousness_n and_o life_n everlasting_a otherwise_o as_o faith_n be_v call_v justify_v faith_n receive_v it_o with_o understanding_n but_o the_o will_v also_o must_v move_v towards_o it_o again_o let_v i_o be_v distress_v for_o a_o hundred_o pound_n or_o so_o if_o one_o promise_v i_o i_o shall_v have_v it_o of_o he_o i_o do_v not_o only_o know_v and_o think_v and_o persuade_v my_o self_n he_o say_v true_a but_o i_o trust_v to_o he_o rest_n on_o he_o and_o write_v as_o we_o say_v on_o that_o he_o have_v speak_v beside_o if_o there_o be_v no_o particular_a confidence_n in_o a_o christian_n faith_n the_o reprobate_n may_v have_v all_o that_o be_v in_o his_o belief_n now_o though_o our_o faith_n believe_v many_o other_o thing_n yet_o it_o justifi_v and_o reconcile_v we_o to_o god_n as_o it_o do_v see_v and_o rest_v upon_o christ_n as_o a_o malefactor_n though_o his_o hand_n will_v receive_v innumerable_a matter_n yet_o as_o it_o receive_v the_o king_n pardon_v only_o it_o do_v acquit_v he_o and_o restore_v he_o to_o liberty_n so_o it_o be_v with_o we_o condemn_a one_o the_o promise_n be_v yea_o and_o amen_n who_o be_v at_o least_o the_o remove_v object_n of_o a_o justify_n faith_n in_o every_o thing_n it_o apprehend_v thus_o abraham_n believe_v the_o promise_n of_o seed_n of_o isaac_n do_v apprehend_v that_o bless_a seed_n which_o have_v from_o the_o beginning_n be_v promise_v and_o see_v his_o day_n which_o the_o apostle_n do_v testify_v gal._n 3._o neither_o do_v he_o look_v at_o the_o power_n of_o god_n but_o to_o sustain_v his_o belief_n of_o a_o seed_n before_o promise_v against_o the_o temptation_n wherewith_o god_n do_v exercise_v he_o that_o we_o have_v a_o particular_a word_n and_o in_o effect_n to_o believe_v on_o christ_n unto_o forgiveness_n of_o our_o sin_n i_o have_v show_v above_o use_v wherefore_o let_v we_o rest_v on_o christ_n preparatory_a all_o thing_n which_o god_n do_v prepare_v to_o the_o receive_n of_o grace_n and_o come_v to_o he_o they_o make_v not_o of_o themselves_o any_o thing_n to_o the_o introduce_v of_o grace_n further_o than_o god_n intend_v this_o effect_n by_o they_o fear_v of_o hell_n conscience_n of_o sin_n never_o such_o affliction_n moral_a part_n and_o all_o gift_n which_o may_v be_v without_o sanctify_a grace_n and_o true_a belief_n many_o have_v all_o these_o who_o yet_o never_o turn_v unfeigned_o to_o god_n when_o the_o sickness_n be_v now_o grow_v great_a in_o quantity_n this_o absolute_o take_v make_v the_o patient_a further_o of_o health_n but_o the_o physician_n may_v intend_v this_o because_o he_o do_v see_v his_o medicine_n will_v the_o better_a work_n on_o it_o and_o educe_v it_o when_o it_o be_v grow_v to_o such_o ripeness_n if_o a_o man_n fall_v out_o of_o a_o dead_a palsy_n into_o a_o light_a frenzy_n frenzy_n of_o itself_o be_v no_o paration_n to_o health_n but_o to_o the_o physician_n who_o can_v work_v on_o he_o more_o fit_o in_o this_o take_n then_o in_o the_o other_o it_o may_v be_v a_o preparative_n to_o health_n thus_o to_o be_v like_o a_o aguish_a man_n on_o his_o good_a day_n or_o like_v to_o some_o mad_a man_n in_o the_o time_n of_o their_o intermission_n be_v in_o itself_o as_o far_o from_o state_n of_o health_n as_o otherwise_o but_o yet_o the_o physician_n may_v use_v such_o a_o state_n as_o a_o way_n to_o health_n choose_v rather_o to_o deal_v with_o he_o in_o this_o take_n then_o in_o the_o fit_n thus_o it_o be_v not_o heavenly_a form_n in_o some_o manner_n quicken_v five_o the_o papist_n doctrine_n be_v here_o very_o defective_a and_o false_a in_o part_n defective_a for_o they_o speak_v nothing_o of_o preparatory_a course_n by_o which_o god_n do_v bring_v we_o to_o come_v unto_o he_o by_o faith_n but_o of_o such_o like_a operation_n by_o which_o god_n prepare_v we_o and_o we_o prepare_v ourselves_o to_o be_v
