that_o we_o may_v rest_v and_o rely_v upon_o christ_n alone_o 5._o the_o grace_n accompany_v salvation_n no_o saint_n shall_v ever_o lose_v but_o a_o present_a sensible_a and_o continual_a exercise_n of_o any_o grace_n god_n have_v not_o promise_v the_o exercise_n of_o grace_n in_o the_o saint_n ebb_n and_o flow_v the_o lord_n often_o withdraw_v the_o exercise_n of_o one_o grace_n that_o so_o another_o may_v shine_v forth_o with_o the_o great_a lustre_n 7_o and_o that_o we_o may_v in_o faith_n and_o humility_n depend_v up_o on_o he_o who_o be_v the_o rock_n of_o our_o strength_n and_o our_o portion_n for_o ever_o 26_o 4._o consider_v that_o it_o be_v a_o principal_a part_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n of_o god_n grace_n 40_o that_o he_o will_v write_v his_o law_n in_o our_o heart_n and_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o depart_v from_o he_o and_o the_o lord_n also_o say_v the_o mountain_n shall_v depart_v 10._o and_o the_o hill_n be_v remove_v but_o my_o love_a kindness_n shall_v not_o not_o the_o warm_n and_o inlve_a influence_n of_o its_o beam_n i_o fear_v that_o the_o opposition_n in_o i_o against_o sin_n discouragement_n be_v not_o between_o christ_n and_o satan_n or_o the_o spirit_n and_o the_o flesh_n but_o between_o my_o corrupt_a will_n and_o my_o enlighten_v conscience_n it_o be_v grant_v that_o every_o opposition_n or_o strive_v in_o man_n be_v not_o from_o the_o antipathy_n between_o christ_n and_o satan_n or_o the_o flesh_n and_o spirit_n which_o reciprocal_o lust_n against_o each_o other_o yet_o the_o difference_n between_o the_o antipathy_n of_o the_o flesh_n and_o spirit_n and_o of_o the_o corrupt_a will_n and_o enlighten_v conscience_n be_v very_o discernible_a 1._o the_o natural_a conscience_n though_o enlighten_v act_v only_o in_o a_o natural_a way_n at_o the_o most_o it_o be_v but_o moral_a as_o not_o to_o lie_v steal_v swear_v etc._n etc._n 2._o it_o stir_v not_o unless_o force_v and_o then_o unto_o that_o only_o whereunto_o it_o be_v search_n for_o they_o though_o his_o heart_n be_v with_o they_o 3._o conscience_n enlighten_v strike_v only_o at_o the_o branch_n but_o not_o at_o the_o root_n of_o sin_n 4._o it_o set_v one_o faculty_n against_o another_o as_o the_o will_n and_o affection_n against_o the_o understanding_n first_o but_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n cause_v a_o opposition_n in_o the_o same_o faculty_n as_o in_o the_o will_n etc._n etc._n 2._o the_o spiritâ—_n of_o christ_n make_v a_o free_a full_a constant_a and_o impartial_a resistance_n against_o all_o sin_n 3._o it_o discover_v to_o the_o soul_n her_o secret_a corruption_n in_o their_o colour_n this_o spirit_n overpower_v the_o soul_n cause_v it_o to_o hate_v sin_n and_o leave_v it_o 4._o this_o spirit_n cause_v the_o soul_n to_o be_v so_o much_o the_o more_o glad_a by_o how_o much_o sin_n be_v the_o more_o discover_v 5._o it_o teach_v the_o soul_n to_o oppose_v all_o sin_n even_o the_o appearance_n of_o evil_n equal_o proportionable_o and_o orderly_o 6._o this_o spirit_n teach_v the_o soul_n not_o to_o turn_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n into_o encouragement_n to_o sin_n i_o can_v pray_v nor_o do_v any_o thing_n that_o be_v good_a sin_n can_v while_n dead_a have_v a_o spiritual_a desire_n spiritual_a desire_n be_v the_o production_n of_o faith_n and_o love_n and_o many_o time_n a_o will_n to_o obey_v be_v all_o that_o a_o come_v into_o the_o world_n to_o save_v sinner_n and_o thereupon_o for_o the_o soul_n to_o look_v unto_o christ_n that_o it_o may_v be_v save_v 22._o and_o so_o to_o long_o for_o he_o rest_z upon_z and_o trust_v in_o he_o for_o life_n 13_o from_o a_o hope_n though_o not_o from_o a_o assurance_n of_o mercy_n 19_o a_o man_n may_v believe_v and_o yet_o not_o know_v that_o he_o have_v eternal_a be_v sure_a etc._n etc._n he_o that_o have_v this_o act_n of_o faith_n have_v also_o the_o former_a but_o there_o be_v divers_a precious_a soul_n that_o have_v the_o former_a and_o yet_o have_v not_o attain_v this_o though_o they_o be_v under_o the_o promise_n of_o it_o they_o shall_v know_v that_o i_o the_o lord_n their_o god_n be_o with_o they_o 30._o and_o that_o they_o even_o the_o house_n ignorance_n 15_o unskilfulnesse_n and_o want_v of_o experience_n of_o the_o order_n and_o manner_n of_o god_n deal_v with_o he_o call_v it_o into_o question_n whether_o they_o have_v any_o faith_n or_o not_o yea_o and_o when_o christ_n do_v not_o clear_o appear_v and_o faith_n not_o lively_a act_n in_o the_o soul_n they_o resolve_v it_o in_o the_o negative_a but_o when_o the_o sun_n of_o righteousness_n shine_v forth_o again_o upon_o this_o poor_a creature_n with_o his_o beam_n of_o soule-reviving_a and_o soul-raising_a love_n then_o be_v these_o cloud_n dispel_v and_o the_o soul_n satisfy_v and_o arm_v for_o the_o future_a with_o experience_n of_o god_n against_o give_v way_n unto_o doubt_n of_o such_o a_o nature_n i_o fear_v that_o my_o faith_n be_v not_o the_o faith_n of_o god_n elect_n discouragement_n but_o a_o presumption_n it_o be_v attend_v with_o so_o many_o doubt_n poor_a heart_n consider_v five_o thing_n viz._n 1._o consider_v videar_fw-la that_o though_o faith_n be_v not_o doubt_v and_o doubt_v not_o faith_n yet_o both_o of_o they_o usual_o lodge_v in_o one_o soul_n thy_o fear_n and_o doubt_n be_v indeed_o the_o effect_n of_o unbelief_n but_o do_v argue_v only_a weakness_n of_o faith_n and_o sure_o it_o be_v that_o faith_n may_v be_v true_a and_o lively_a when_o weak_a and_o small_a yea_o further_o there_o may_v be_v not_o only_o true_a but_o great_a faith_n 48._o where_o there_o be_v fear_n and_o tremble_a so_o that_o you_o neither_o put_v faith_n for_o unbelief_n 20_o nor_o light_n for_o darkness_n 2._o consider_v that_o to_o doubt_v bear_v witness_n and_o he_o that_o believe_v have_v the_o witness_n in_o himself_o 16_o we_o believe_v and_o be_v sure_a 69_o the_o way_n to_o be_v warm_a be_v not_o only_o to_o ask_v for_o a_o fire_n or_o whether_o there_o be_v one_o or_o not_o and_o hold_v out_o the_o hand_n towards_o it_o and_o away_o and_o wish_v for_o a_o great_a but_o to_o stand_v close_o unto_o that_o fire_n there_o be_v
