and_o their_o faith_n prove_v uneffectual_a like_o those_o that_o marry_v not_o for_o love_n but_o for_o wealth_n the_o manner_n of_o these_o man_n be_v to_o seek_v mercy_n and_o not_o grace_n yet_o the_o least_o evil_n as_o well_o as_o from_o death_n eternal_a and_o hell_n itself_o yea_o there_o be_v no_o evil_a that_o the_o saint_n be_v free_v from_o but_o it_o be_v purchase_v by_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n which_o be_v over_o and_o above_o some_o general_a work_n of_o god_n providence_n that_o all_o man_n taste_v of_o now_o though_o there_o be_v sufficiency_n in_o christ_n to_o save_v all_o yet_o none_o have_v benefit_n by_o it_o but_o those_o that_o receive_v it_o as_o they_o ought_v that_o be_v as_o a_o lord_n as_o well_o as_o a_o saviour_n we_o must_v therefore_o come_v bring_v we_o to_o christ_n and_o make_v we_o willing_a to_o take_v he_o and_o be_v faith_n though_o it_o come_v not_o to_o the_o full_a degree_n though_o it_o have_v some_o doubt_v some_o fear_n and_o afterward_o we_o shall_v be_v more_o full_o and_o better_a persuade_v which_o add_v to_o the_o degree_n for_o faith_n though_o it_o be_v mingle_v with_o some_o doubt_n and_o fear_n may_v be_v effectual_a though_o not_o perfect_a for_o there_o be_v a_o doubt_v mingle_v with_o the_o best_a faith_n so_o it_o be_v but_o such_o a_o doubt_v as_o do_v not_o overcome_v it_o may_v stand_v with_o true_a and_o sound_a faith_n if_o a_o man_n have_v so_o take_v christ_n that_o still_o he_o be_v grow_v still_o his_o faith_n be_v prevail_v still_o overcome_v these_o doubt_n and_o fear_n from_o unless_o we_o find_v our_o heart_n inward_o move_v to_o love_v they_o yea_o with_o a_o natural_a affection_n as_o it_o be_v we_o but_o pretend_v to_o love_v god_n love_n be_v a_o command_a affection_n yea_o love_n and_o hatred_n be_v as_o it_o be_v the_o great_a lord_n and_o master_n that_o divide_v the_o affection_n between_o they_o now_o the_o reason_n why_o we_o hate_v god_n natural_o be_v by_o reason_n of_o that_o opposition_n and_o contrariety_n which_o be_v between_o god_n and_o every_o man_n by_o nature_n for_o all_o love_n come_v from_o similitude_n and_o agreeableness_n therefore_o own_o condemnation_n that_o be_v through_o incredulity_n and_o abuse_n of_o the_o sacrament_n to_o be_v abalienate_v and_o repel_v from_o christ_n and_o all_o his_o benefit_n and_o so_o to_o draw_v upon_o themselves_o temporal_a and_o everlasting_a punishment_n except_o they_o repent_v the_o wicked_a in_o the_o use_n of_o the_o sacrament_n receive_v nothing_o beside_o their_o own_o soul_n which_o consist_v partly_o in_o the_o mind_n which_o be_v a_o corrupt_a disposition_n thereof_o whereby_o a_o man_n think_v himself_o to_o be_v better_a than_o indeed_o he_o be_v this_o be_v the_o proud_a pharisee_n sin_n luke_n 18.11_o 12._o partly_o in_o the_o will_n which_o be_v a_o inward_a affection_n whereby_o a_o man_n be_v not_o content_v with_o that_o estate_n wherein_o god_n show_v itself_o in_o the_o effect_n in_o her_o proper_a colour_n by_o apparel_n gestures_z language_n action_n and_o most_o vain_a fantastic_a self-conceit_n inward_a pride_n must_v be_v careful_o avoid_v for_o these_o reason_n viz._n 1._o because_o whatsoever_o outward_a good_a work_n the_o child_n of_o god_n can_v do_v by_o grace_n the_o same_o may_v a_o wicked_a man_n do_v through_o pride_n and_o hypocrisy_n as_o conceive_v a_o prayer_n preach_v the_o word_n and_o practise_v the_o outward_a duty_n of_o repentance_n of_o love_n and_o such_o like_a for_o pride_n be_v a_o sin_n that_o will_v counterfeit_v grace_n and_o man_n can_v discern_v it_o true_o but_o god_n only_o 2._o many_o other_o sin_n prevail_v in_o the_o wicked_a but_o pride_n be_v the_o sin_n that_o trouble_v the_o child_n of_o god_n and_o when_o other_o sin_n die_v then_o will_v pride_n revive_v yea_o it_o will_v rise_v as_o it_o be_v out_o of_o grace_n itself_o for_o the_o child_n of_o god_n may_v be_v proud_a because_o he_o be_v not_o proud_a proud_a of_o his_o humility_n therefore_o paul_n must_v be_v buffet_v by_o the_o messenger_n of_o satan_n lest_o he_o shall_v be_v puff_v up_o with_o the_o abundance_n of_o revelation_n 2_o cor._n 12.7_o the_o way_n to_o avoid_v this_o dangerous_a sin_n of_o inward_a pride_n viz._n 1._o we_o must_v be_v careful_a to_o know_v the_o pride_n of_o our_o
