of_o the_o great_a evangelical_n privilege_n of_o those_o thing_n which_o be_v the_o marrow_n of_o divine_a promise_n all_o real_a endeavour_n of_o a_o vital_a communion_n with_o christ._n such_o be_v spiritual_a peace_n refresh_v consolation_n ineffable_a joy_n and_o the_o bless_a composure_n of_o assurance_n without_o some_o taste_n and_o experience_n of_o these_o thing_n profession_n be_v heartless_a lifeless_a useless_a and_o religion_n itself_o a_o dead_a carcase_n without_o a_o animate_v soul._n the_o peace_n which_o some_o enjoy_v be_v a_o mere_a stupidity_n they_o judge_v not_o these_o thing_n to_o be_v real_a which_o be_v the_o substance_n of_o christ_n present_a reward_n and_o a_o renunciation_n whereof_o will_v deprive_v the_o church_n of_o its_o principal_a supportment_n and_o encouragement_n in_o all_o its_o suffering_n it_o be_v a_o great_a evidence_n of_o the_o power_n of_o unbelief_n when_o we_o can_v satisfy_v ourselves_o without_o a_o experience_n in_o our_o own_o heart_n of_o the_o great_a thing_n in_o this_o kind_n of_o joy_n peace_n consolation_n assurance_n that_o be_v promise_v in_o the_o gospel_n for_o how_o can_v it_o be_v suppose_v that_o we_o do_v indeed_o believe_v the_o promise_n of_o thing_n future_a namely_o of_o heaven_n immortality_n and_o glory_n the_o faith_n whereof_o be_v the_o foundation_n of_o all_o religion_n when_o we_o do_v not_o believe_v the_o promise_n of_o the_o present_a reward_n in_o these_o spiritual_a privilege_n and_o how_o shall_v we_o be_v think_v to_o believe_v they_o when_o we_o do_v not_o endeavour_v after_o a_o experience_n of_o the_o thing_n themselves_o in_o our_o own_o soul_n but_o be_v even_o content_v without_o they_o but_o herein_o man_n deceive_v themselves_o they_o will_v very_o desirous_o have_v evangelical_a joy_n peace_n and_o assurance_n to_o countenance_v they_o in_o their_o evil_a frame_n and_o careless_a walk_n and_o some_o have_v attempt_v to_o reconcile_v these_o thing_n unto_o the_o ruin_n of_o their_o soul_n but_o it_o will_v not_o be_v without_o the_o diligent_a exercise_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o obedience_n we_o shall_v never_o enjoy_v the_o grace_n of_o consolation_n but_o we_o must_v speak_v somewhat_o of_o these_o thing_n afterward_o it_o be_v peculiarly_a in_o the_o view_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o christ_n in_o in_o his_o approach_n unto_o we_o and_o abide_v with_o we_o that_o we_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o evangelical_n peace_n consolation_n joy_n and_o assurance_n these_o be_v a_o part_n of_o the_o royal_a train_n of_o his_o grace_n of_o 10._o let_v that_o glory_n be_v right_o state_v as_o before_o lay_v down_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o person_n his_o office_n his_o condescension_n exaltation_n love_n and_o grace_n let_v faith_n be_v fix_v in_o a_o view_n and_o contemplation_n of_o it_o mix_v itself_o with_o it_o as_o represent_v in_o the_o glass_n of_o the_o gospel_n meditate_v upon_o it_o embrace_v it_o and_o virtue_n will_v proceed_v from_o christ_n communicate_v spiritual_a supernatural_a refreshment_n and_o joy_n unto_o our_o soul_n yea_o in_o ordinary_a case_n it_o be_v impossible_a that_o believer_n shall_v have_v a_o real_a prospect_n of_o this_o glory_n at_o any_o time_n but_o that_o it_o will_v in_o some_o measure_n affect_v their_o heart_n with_o a_o sense_n of_o his_o love_n which_o be_v the_o spring_n of_o all_o consolation_n in_o they_o in_o the_o exercise_n of_o faith_n on_o the_o discovery_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o christ_n make_v unto_o we_o in_o the_o gospel_n no_o man_n shall_v ever_o total_o want_v such_o intimation_n of_o his_o love_n yea_o such_o effusion_n of_o it_o in_o his_o heart_n as_o shall_v be_v a_o live_a spring_n of_o those_o spiritual_a refreshment_n joh._n 4._o 14._o rom._n 5._o 5._o when_o therefore_o we_o lose_v these_o thing_n as_o unto_o a_o sense_n of_o they_o in_o our_o soul_n it_o be_v evident_a that_o the_o lord_n christ_n be_v withdraw_v and_o that_o we_o do_v not_o behold_v his_o glory_n but_o i_o can_v here_o avoid_v another_o short_a digression_n there_o be_v those_o by_o who_o all_o these_o thing_n be_v deride_v as_o distemper_a fancy_n and_o imagination_n yea_o such_o thing_n have_v be_v speak_v and_o write_v of_o they_o as_o contain_v a_o virtual_a renunciation_n of_o the_o gospel_n the_o power_n of_o the_o world_n to_o come_v and_o the_o whole_a work_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n as_o the_o comforter_n of_o the_o church_n and_o hereby_o all_o real_a intercourse_n between_o the_o person_n of_o christ_n and_o the_o soul_n of_o they_o that_o do_v believe_v be_v utter_o overthrow_v reduce_v all_o religion_n to_o a_o outward_a show_n and_o a_o pageantry_n â—itter_a for_o a_o stage_n than_o that_o temple_n of_o god_n which_o be_v in_o the_o mind_n of_o man_n according_a unto_o the_o sentiment_n of_o these_o profane_a scoffer_n there_o be_v no_o such_o thing_n as_o the_o shed_n abroad_o of_o the_o love_n of_o god_n in_o
