must_v be_v to_o believe_v that_o our_o lord_n god_n will_v that_o we_o shall_v have_v what_o we_o ask_v and_o he_o will_v have_v we_o to_o ask_v that_o we_o may_v thereby_o be_v dispose_v to_o his_o service_n for_o bless_a be_v the_o bread_n which_o he_o eat_v who_o eat_v to_o this_o end_n that_o he_o may_v live_v and_o live_a may_v be_v employ_v in_o increase_v in_o the_o love_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o god_n for_o so_o the_o ask_n of_o bread_n and_o whatsoever_o else_o with_o a_o such_o motive_n be_v much_o esteem_v in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n beside_o of_o such_o a_o mind_n we_o must_v be_v that_o if_o we_o think_v it_o not_o acceptable_a unto_o god_n that_o we_o obtain_v that_o which_o we_o most_o desire_v forthwith_o as_o much_o as_o be_v in_o we_o we_o must_v neither_o desire_v nor_o ask_v it_o the_o hungry_a soul_n for_o the_o most_o part_n by_o the_o famine_n that_o oppress_v he_o be_v move_v to_o ask_v bread_n but_o so_o be_v not_o he_o who_o right_o pray_v unto_o god_n he_o must_v ask_v meat_n and_o necessary_a grace_n and_o glory_n not_o chief_o for_o that_o he_o have_v need_n of_o these_o but_o for_o that_o the_o lord_n god_n will_v that_o we_o shall_v have_v they_o expect_v only_o our_o prayer_n that_o he_o may_v give_v they_o unto_o we_o so_o that_o the_o will_n of_o god_n desirous_a that_o we_o shall_v have_v these_o thing_n must_v more_o move_v we_o to_o ask_v and_o desire_v our_o own_o good_a than_o the_o joy_n and_o glory_n which_o we_o hope_v may_v accrue_v unto_o we_o thereby_o therefore_o the_o manner_n of_o pray_v aught_o to_o be_v that_o our_o soul_n have_v attain_v to_o a_o habit_n of_o ask_v that_o which_o god_n desire_v above_o any_o other_o thing_n and_o exercise_v by_o many_o act_n of_o so_o ask_v it_o not_o chief_o for_o our_o own_o good_a but_o for_o that_o his_o most_o holy_a will_n be_v most_o worthy_a to_o be_v desire_v above_o all_o desireable_n whatsoever_o we_o shall_v ask_v let_v it_o be_v immix_v and_o interweave_v with_o such_o a_o habit_n and_o all_o the_o word_n of_o our_o prayer_n let_v they_o be_v join_v to_o the_o act_n of_o willing_a and_o desire_v whatsoever_o we_o shall_v ask_v for_o this_o cause_n that_o god_n desire_v that_o we_o shall_v have_v it_o whereby_o we_o may_v thus_o become_v his_o more_o acceptable_a servant_n and_o have_v the_o great_a love_n towards_o he_o happy_a be_v they_o that_o can_v thus_o pray_v for_o in_o few_o day_n they_o shall_v grow_v to_o be_v potent_a man_n in_o the_o lord_n to_o perform_v all_o the_o foresay_a thing_n be_v necessary_a the_o 2._o and_o 6._o instruction_n i_o will_v hereof_o give_v this_o example_n for_o many_o do_v pray_v with_o the_o some_o motive_n yet_o speed_v not_o for_o the_o purpose_n some_o man_n ask_v virtue_n use_v grant_v to_o some_o good_a end_n know_v that_o god_n have_v command_v we_o to_o ask_v of_o he_o necessary_n he_o ask_v instant_o acknowledge_v his_o own_o unworthiness_n persever_n in_o this_o man_n of_o ask_v and_o feel_v in_o his_o prayer_n some_o â—â—dste_v of_o sweetness_n and_o divine_a love_n now_o some_o think_v this_o prayer_n to_o proceed_v from_o a_o perfect_a motive_n and_o scope_n but_o it_o be_v not_o so_o albeit_o the_o prayer_n be_v devout_a and_o good_a but_o if_o you_o ask_v what_o it_o want_v i_o answer_v there_o be_v this_o want_v that_o he_o ask_v not_o of_o love_n albeit_o with_o love_n therefore_o i_o say_v it_o suffice_v not_o that_o the_o motive_n be_v perfect_a that_o he_o love_v and_o have_v all_o other_o thing_n but_o he_o must_v also_o be_v move_v to_o ask_v of_o love_n and_o not_o for_o the_o love_n of_o the_o thing_n desire_v albeit_o yet_o even_o the_o love_n of_o the_o thing_n may_v be_v keep_v with_o much_o perfection_n so_o that_o in_o act_v it_o be_v resire_v to_o this_o that_o therefore_o it_o may_v be_v love_v because_o god_n will_v that_o we_o shall_v love_v that_o thing_n which_o now_o be_v not_o so_o in_o the_o former_a kind_n and_o therefore_o exceed_v the_o bound_n of_o prayer_n therefore_o many_o consider_v this_o have_v come_v to_o know_v that_o the_o love_n of_o themselves_o be_v hide_v under_o the_o shadow_n of_o the_o love_n of_o god_n and_o that_o it_o be_v true_a that_o albeit_o they_o love_v god_n yet_o be_v they_o not_o move_v with_o this_o love_n in_o act_n while_o they_o pray_v but_o with_o the_o love_n of_o themselves_o albeit_o not_o with_o a_o ill_a love_n whereby_o they_o be_v move_v to_o ask_v that_o which_o they_o do_v because_o it_o be_v good_a this_o will_v be_v more_o easy_o understand_v by_o that_o which_o often_o fall_v out_o among_o such_o as_o love_v one_o another_o that_o one_o ask_v something_o of_o another_o and_o that_o with_o the_o love_n wherewith_o he_o love_v he_o yet_o not_o of_o or_o for_o the_o love_n which_o he_o have_v towards_o he_o of_o who_o he_o ask_v but_o for_o the_o love_n of_o himself_o and_o his_o own_o benefit_n therefore_o as_o before_o be_v say_v we_o must_v not_o ask_v so_o of_o god_n but_o we_o must_v ask_v with_o and_o for_o his_o love_n that_o be_v we_o must_v actual_o perceive_v a_o desire_n of_o obtain_v that_o we_o ask_v whereby_o god_n by_o that_o may_v receive_v from_o we_o a_o acceptable_a obedience_n sure_o great_a and_o necessary_a be_v the_o attention_n that_o we_o may_v know_v the_o difference_n of_o these_o love_n for_o it_o be_v a_o thing_n necessary_a to_o be_v know_v and_o many_o think_v they_o have_v go_v aright_o in_o this_o business_n but_o look_v near_o into_o the_o thing_n they_o have_v find_v it_o to_o be_v only_o the_o imagination_n of_o the_o true_a love_n of_o god_n and_o themselves_o to_o be_v far_o from_o it_o indeed_o he_o therefore_o believe_v and_o know_v himself_o to_o be_v in_o the_o right_a way_n who_o continual_o build_v as_o upon_o his_o guide_n in_o the_o way_n upon_o a_o actual_a desire_n of_o obtain_v by_o prayer_n these_o or_o these_o grace_n that_o god_n may_v rejoice_v to_o see_v he_o so_o beautify_v and_o that_o he_o may_v grow_v in_o his_o love_n and_o although_o at_o the_o begin_n of_o this_o exercise_n many_o shall_v not_o only_o feel_v that_o they_o do_v not_o increase_v in_o devotion_n but_o rather_o to_o have_v make_v shipwreck_n of_o that_o which_o they_o have_v before_o for_o which_o they_o shall_v be_v much_o grieve_v in_o their_o soul_n yet_o let_v they_o go_v on_o cheerful_o in_o this_o great_a work_n and_o let_v they_o not_o admire_v that_o they_o feel_v this_o diminution_n of_o devotion_n for_o in_o that_o he_o find_v in_o himself_o this_o coldness_n and_o indevotion_n he_o shall_v perform_v a_o far_o more_o worthy_a duty_n than_o before_o while_o he_o seem_v to_o taste_v a_o great_a sweetness_n and_o contentment_n for_o this_o contentment_n be_v wont_a to_o arise_v from_o the_o love_n of_o himself_o albeit_o not_o evil_a which_o yet_o be_v to_o be_v abandon_v that_o one_o may_v be_v whole_o addict_v to_o the_o love_n of_o god_n which_o be_v best_a of_o all_o for_o when_o it_o arise_v from_o the_o love_n of_o ourselves_o which_o be_v very_o great_a we_o find_v great_a sweetness_n and_o pleasure_n in_o it_o but_o that_o love_n be_v discard_v the_o love_n of_o god_n above_o entertain_v which_o at_o the_o beginning_n be_v but_o small_a little_a sweetness_n and_o devotion_n be_v feel_v but_o this_o love_n increase_v the_o pleasure_n and_o devotion_n will_v also_o increase_v for_o illustration_n whereof_o our_o own_o experience_n will_v serve_v we_o see_v that_o two_o stick_n do_v burn_v together_o the_o one_o being_n dry_a and_o easy_o fire_v the_o other_o not_o so_o yet_o the_o fire_n of_o the_o one_o make_v the_o other_o be_v green_a and_o not_o so_o apt_a to_o burn_v to_o flame_n and_o as_o itself_o do_v but_o if_o you_o remove_v they_o asunder_o you_o shall_v find_v that_o stick_n which_o be_v not_o so_o dry_a to_o loose_v both_o his_o flame_n and_o heat_n too_o and_o to_o keep_v it_o from_o go_v quite_o out_o he_o must_v be_v enforce_v either_o to_o use_v the_o bellows_n or_o else_o re-match_n it_o with_o the_o former_a which_o first_o set_v it_o on_o fire_n in_o like_a manner_n our_o love_n of_o god_n be_v not_o so_o hot_a and_o inflame_v of_o itself_o if_o yet_o it_o be_v join_v to_o the_o love_n
deceive_v and_o blind_a in_o that_o he_o love_v it_o as_o great_a madness_n to_o nourish_v that_o servant_n that_o will_v betray_v thou_o and_o to_o cherish_v that_o thief_n that_o bring_v thou_o to_o the_o gallows_n the_o love_n of_o ourselves_o will_v afford_v we_o no_o more_o favour_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v wisdom_n to_o hate_v ourselves_o see_v it_o be_v no_o better_a than_o the_o worm_n poison_n of_o self-love_n wherewith_o we_o be_v exulcerate_v and_o abstract_v from_o all_o good_a that_o this_o exulceration_n be_v take_v away_o we_o may_v perform_v that_o admirable_a work_n of_o god_n which_o be_v the_o love_n of_o he_o therefore_o we_o shall_v much_o rejoice_v when_o we_o be_v ill_o entreat_v of_o other_o when_o we_o be_v affect_v with_o calumniation_n and_o injury_n and_o reason_n seem_v to_o use_v we_o ill_o and_o withal_o to_o take_v from_o we_o even_o those_o thing_n we_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o for_o so_o he_o cure_v otherwise_o the_o most_o incurable_a wound_n and_o stink_a ulcer_n of_o the_o soul_n for_o if_o we_o willing_o embrace_v this_o we_o shall_v be_v make_v sound_a from_o that_o deadly_a poison_n of_o self-love_n happy_a be_v that_o man_n who_o shall_v feel_v and_o desire_v this_o and_o shall_v with_o continual_a and_o effectual_a care_n procure_v it_o but_o more_o happy_a he_o who_o see_v himself_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o conflict_n of_o persecution_n and_o worldly_a disaster_n and_o misfortune_n shall_v yet_o swallow_v those_o bitter_a draught_n that_o he_o may_v possess_v this_o love_n of_o god_n and_o that_o hatred_n of_o himself_o but_o most_o happy_a be_v he_o who_o through_o long_a exercise_n be_v so_o direct_v towards_o the_o greatness_n of_o this_o most_o sweet_a hatred_n that_o albeit_o for_o his_o natural_a inclination_n it_o bring_v great_a pain_n with_o it_o yet_o the_o ardent_a desire_n of_o increase_v in_o the_o love_n of_o god_n do_v change_v it_o into_o so_o great_a sweetness_n as_o that_o be_v wont_a to_o do_v which_o with_o a_o most_o earnest_a longing_n he_o before_o desire_v of_o the_o manner_n in_o respect_n of_o our_o duty_n whereby_o to_o obtain_v this_o shall_v be_v speak_v in_o the_o six_o exercise_n of_o humility_n which_o be_v the_o primary_n foundation_n hereof_o yet_o this_o place_n require_v that_o we_o shall_v deliver_v the_o most_o effectual_a manner_n of_o obtain_v accept_v it_o for_o it_o be_v something_o difficult_a voluntary_o to_o accept_v persecution_n be_v present_a or_o but_o late_o lay_v on_o we_o except_o we_o have_v a_o great_a measure_n of_o the_o anoint_v of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n therefore_o we_o must_v do_v thus_o use_v a_o holy_a caution_n it_o fall_v out_o often_o that_o we_o be_v injury_v and_o that_o without_o all_o reason_n much_o of_o ourselves_o which_o be_v like_o dry_a wood_n it_o will_v as_o tinder_n set_v on_o fire_n all_o our_o work_n but_o be_v divorce_v from_o this_o love_n of_o ourselves_o the_o love_n of_o god_n will_v stand_v in_o need_n of_o the_o bellows_n of_o many_o strong_a labour_n and_o action_n to_o keep_v it_o in_o for_o scarce_o shall_v we_o find_v any_o flame_n of_o this_o love_n but_o rather_o seem_v in_o ourselves_o to_o be_v key_n cold_a and_o therefore_o by_o many_o strong_a act_n must_v we_o succour_v it_o by_o the_o consideration_n of_o those_o thing_n which_o according_a to_o the_o love_n of_o ourselves_o seem_v sweet_a unto_o we_o namely_o by_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o great_a good_a of_o glory_n and_o comfort_n which_o we_o hope_v for_o in_o time_n to_o come_v and_o again_o that_o so_o we_o shall_v escape_v those_o great_a evil_n which_o we_o do_v natural_o abhor_v and_o hate_v and_o by_o such_o breathe_n &_o blast_n of_o the_o love_n of_o ourselves_o we_o may_v believe_v that_o some_o little_a flame_n of_o the_o love_n of_o god_n may_v be_v enkindle_v and_o by_o little_a and_o little_o gather_v strength_n &_o increase_n according_a to_o the_o proportion_n of_o our_o endeavour_n be_v help_v thereunto_o by_o the_o love_n of_o god_n yet_o it_o be_v very_o expedient_a that_o we_o endeavour_v earnest_o to_o have_v strong_a act_n in_o all_o the_o thing_n afforesaid_a whereby_o that_o so_o vehement_a a_o love_n of_o god_n may_v be_v produce_v in_o we_o as_o that_o be_v wont_a to_o be_v which_o we_o have_v before_o as_o a_o love_n compound_v of_o the_o love_n of_o ourselves_o which_o be_v great_a vehement_a and_o contentful_a together_o with_o the_o love_n of_o god_n which_o be_v but_o small_a and_o very_o weak_a and_o this_o we_o must_v labour_v to_o do_v till_o we_o find_v so_o great_a sweetness_n in_o be_v deliver_v from_o our_o strait_n and_o misery_n only_o to_o the_o end_n that_o we_o may_v the_o better_o serve_v god_n as_o we_o be_v wont_a to_o feel_v while_o we_o desire_v the_o same_o be_v induce_v thereunto_o only_o that_o we_o may_v be_v deliver_v from_o the_o anguish_n that_o do_v so_o tire_v us._n he_o that_o shall_v dot_v thus_o may_v worthy_o conceive_v that_o he_o have_v the_o true_a and_o sincere_a love_n of_o god_n which_o we_o ought_v ever_o to_o seek_v &_o beg_v this_o be_v i_o confess_v a_o great_a alteration_n and_o the_o change_n of_o the_o right_a hand_n of_o the_o high_a happy_a be_v he_o that_o taste_v it_o in_o the_o earth_n for_o now_o he_o begin_v to_o dwell_v among_o those_o fresh_a pasture_n which_o he_o shall_v more_o plentiful_o enjoy_v in_o eternal_a glory_n but_o it_o be_v very_o needful_a herein_o that_o while_o we_o pray_v we_o be_v very_o attentive_a in_o this_o until_o we_o be_v habituate_v and_o accustom_v to_o such_o kind_n of_o pray_v whereby_o we_o may_v feel_v in_o all_o our_o postulation_n and_o demand_n whether_o the_o love_n of_o god_n or_o the_o love_n of_o the_o thing_n which_o we_o ask_v have_v move_v we_o to_o ask_v it_o of_o god_n nor_o by_o any_o mean_n to_o pass_v from_o one_o demand_n until_o we_o have_v incline_v the_o will_n to_o accept_v it_o on_o that_o condition_n because_o god_n will_v have_v we_o to_o ask_v and_o in_o the_o same_o to_o serve_v he_o and_o if_o herein_o we_o be_v negligent_a there_o be_v no_o hope_n of_o grow_v in_o any_o that_o whosoever_o obtain_v it_o be_v bless_v even_o on_o the_o earth_n therefore_o if_o any_o do_v understand_v it_o and_o love_n himself_o undoubted_o he_o will_v desire_v and_o seek_v so_o great_a a_o good_a to_o himself_o and_o with_o great_a affection_n he_o will_v desire_v it_o and_o it_o be_v a_o good_a postulation_n and_o desire_n yet_o must_v not_o we_o content_v ourselves_o herewith_o be_v jesus_n christ_n the_o fountain_n of_o all_o wisdom_n in_o heaven_n and_o earth_n learn_v of_o i_o 11._o matth._n 11._o say_v that_o wisdom_n as_o of_o the_o most_o learned_a book_n and_o what_o the_o greatness_n of_o that_o sweetness_n which_o they_o feel_v in_o the_o sensitive_a appetite_n be_v nothing_o else_o but_o the_o greatness_n of_o that_o love_n and_o will_v to_o god_n that_o all_o man_n who_o do_v not_o love_n god_n do_v so_o love_v he_o yet_o god_n forbid_v that_o those_o who_o love_n god_n shall_v be_v content_a with_o this_o love_n although_o it_o be_v very_o good_a and_o love_n for_o he_o do_v so_o much_o procure_v unto_o himself_o corporal_a delight_n as_o to_o feed_v on_o delicate_a viand_n to_o drink_v the_o most_o pleasant_a licour_n to_o wear_v most_o gorgeous_a clothes_n and_o such_o other_o vanity_n please_v to_o his_o appetite_n sensual_a friendship_n honour_n favour_n even_o as_o he_o do_v that_o have_v never_o begin_v to_o taste_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v of_o god_n nay_o oft_o time_n at_o such_o time_n as_o he_o be_v visit_v with_o such_o a_o apprehension_n of_o sweetness_n he_o be_v take_v up_o with_o many_o vain_a affection_n and_o very_o sensual_a be_v draw_v thereunto_o by_o the_o beauty_n and_o pleasure_n of_o some_o person_n again_o he_o desire_v to_o be_v see_v and_o to_o be_v account_v devoute_a and_o grieve_v if_o he_o be_v not_o repute_v for_o such_o nor_o do_v he_o rejoice_v when_o he_o understand_v that_o other_o be_v account_v more_o fervent_a in_o devotion_n and_o such_o other_o blemish_n he_o cast_v upon_o himself_o all_o which_o be_v so_o abject_a that_o they_o suffer_v not_o the_o society_n of_o that_o excellent_a
love_n of_o god_n of_o which_o anon_o although_o it_o have_v not_o that_o sweetness_n therefore_o we_o may_v conclude_v that_o such_o love_n be_v but_o frail_a see_v it_o be_v the_o love_n of_o he_o to_o the_o high_a bound_n of_o this_o love_n nor_o yet_o will_v we_o have_v such_o as_o prepare_v themselves_o to_o this_o excellent_a love_n in_o the_o begin_n quite_o to_o forsake_v it_o but_o least_o in_o the_o beginning_n they_o shall_v cast_v themselves_o whole_o upon_o it_o they_o shall_v forget_v the_o preparation_n and_o way_n of_o the_o gospel_n which_o the_o son_n of_o god_n have_v deliver_v unto_o us._n for_o so_o much_o more_o certain_a shall_v the_o preparation_n be_v by_o how_o much_o one_o do_v more_o high_o place_n himself_o in_o the_o love_n of_o god_n by_o such_o exercise_n as_o the_o gospel_n deliver_v unto_o we_o and_o as_o be_v say_v be_v necessary_a to_o that_o love_n therefore_o the_o humble_a servant_n of_o god_n who_o endeavour_n to_o receive_v into_o his_o soul_n so_o precious_a a_o liquor_n that_o through_o the_o sweetness_n of_o glory_n he_o may_v glorify_v his_o most_o high_a god_n must_v 4._o for_o many_o day_n exercise_v himself_o in_o the_o thing_n before_o speak_v and_o above_o all_o thing_n that_o he_o extricate_v and_o acquit_v himself_o from_o himself_o but_o when_o he_o shall_v see_v himself_o right_o or_o sufficient_o at_o least_o exercise_v herein_o if_o the_o lord_n be_v please_v to_o help_v he_o with_o the_o blessing_n of_o sweetness_n they_o shall_v be_v a_o great_a help_n unto_o he_o to_o love_v with_o facility_n but_o if_o this_o sweetness_n be_v a_o want_v or_o else_o whilst_o this_o sweetness_n offer_v itself_o he_o must_v of_o purpose_n work_n on_o this_o manner_n let_v he_o brief_o call_v to_o mind_n how_o great_a that_o good_a and_o glory_n be_v which_o god_n have_v consider_v he_o as_o the_o best_a and_o most_o worthy_a that_o all_o man_n shall_v joy_v at_o his_o good_a and_o present_o let_v he_o incline_v his_o will_n to_o desire_v the_o same_o thing_n and_o to_o rejoice_v at_o that_o so_o great_a good_a of_o god_n &_o let_v he_o persist_v in_o that_o will_v as_o long_o as_o he_o can_v and_o if_o he_o be_v a_o little_a distract_a or_o cool_v herein_o let_v he_o turn_v himself_o by_o and_o by_o in_o the_o same_o manner_n of_o do_v and_o so_o as_o much_o as_o be_v possible_a let_v he_o not_o omit_v to_o produce_v the_o act_n whereby_o he_o may_v desire_v or_o love_v that_o good_a which_o god_n have_v and_o in_o mind_n let_v he_o often_o leap_v for_o joy_n consider_v god_n to_o be_v most_o infinite_o replenish_v with_o infinite_a good_a from_o the_o long_a continuance_n of_o this_o exercise_n he_o must_v needs_o be_v lift_v up_o to_o that_o most_o high_a love_n nor_o be_v it_o any_o other_o thing_n to_o bring_v four_o the_o frequent_a act_n of_o love_n then_o if_o one_o hear_v and_o that_o in_o a_o hour_n space_n relate_v many_o stratagem_n of_o some_o singular_a friend_n or_o some_o great_a honour_n do_v unto_o he_o and_o rejoice_v at_o every_o one_o of_o they_o every_o one_o of_o these_o joy_n proceed_v from_o affection_n towards_o he_o be_v call_v the_o act_n of_o love_n see_v then_o the_o glory_n and_o honour_n of_o god_n be_v infinite_a and_o of_o infinite_a excellency_n and_o in_o like_a manner_n whatsoever_o he_o do_v or_o creat_v and_o every_o one_o of_o these_o show_v his_o singular_a dignity_n and_o honour_n nor_o do_v all_o the_o moment_n of_o our_o life_n suffice_v to_o hear_v or_o consider_v they_o it_o be_v our_o part_n at_o the_o least_o to_o cast_v they_o up_o under_o the_o name_n of_o infinite_a good_a and_o glory_n and_o to_o produce_v the_o act_n of_o our_o will_n incline_v it_o to_o desire_v it_o and_o rejoice_v at_o it_o all_o the_o day_n of_o our_o life_n see_v we_o owe_v this_o unto_o he_o more_o than_o we_o do_v to_o any_o other_o friend_n in_o that_o of_o his_o great_a bounty_n so_o great_a a_o part_n of_o his_o glory_n do_v result_v and_o rebound_v upon_o us._n and_o one_o may_v so_o exercise_v himselue_n in_o these_o act_n albeit_o that_o sweetness_n which_o they_o call_v devotion_n be_v a_o want_a that_o in_o every_o business_n and_o in_o every_o place_n he_o may_v love_v god_n not_o need_v hereunto_o any_o secret_a place_n or_o any_o other_o sequestration_n of_o himself_o as_o it_o daily_o fall_v out_o that_o a_o friend_n rejoice_v whilst_o he_o hear_v that_o of_o late_a some_o good_a thing_n have_v befall_v his_o friend_n &_o so_o sudden_o joy_v at_o it_o without_o seek_v any_o other_o time_n place_n or_o sequestration_n unto_o the_o produce_v of_o these_o act_n it_o help_v much_o to_o consider_v the_o second_o and_o six_o instruction_n and_o also_o that_o in_o the_o chapter_n of_o the_o hate_v of_o one_o self_n whence_o we_o collect_v how_o these_o act_n ought_v to_o be_v produce_v and_o that_o it_o all_o must_v be_v do_v for_o that_o god_n be_v most_o worthy_a that_o we_o shall_v do_v it_o for_o he_o nor_o ought_v it_o to_o seem_v a_o labour_n or_o stay_n of_o we_o for_o these_o thing_n to_o have_v recourse_n to_o the_o foresay_a instruction_n for_o when_o as_o for_o a_o few_o day_n this_o thing_n shall_v be_v do_v one_o may_v then_o easy_o work_v yea_o without_o return_v to_o they_o any_o more_o happy_o it_o may_v seem_v to_o some_o to_o be_v a_o more_o easy_a way_n to_o come_v to_o this_o love_n if_o they_o do_v fervent_o ask_v it_o of_o god_n by_o prayer_n as_o we_o have_v speak_v in_o the_o tract_n of_o prayer_n together_o with_o the_o exercise_n of_o virtue_n whereof_o we_o have_v speak_v and_o if_o they_o be_v right_o examine_v they_o be_v almost_o the_o same_o but_o yet_o he_o shall_v more_o brief_o and_o more_o divine_o attain_v unto_o it_o who_o together_o with_o prayer_n shall_v know_v now_o to_o help_v himself_o with_o the_o act_n of_o the_o six_o instruction_n and_o that_o in_o that_o tract_n of_o the_o affection_n of_o the_o mind_n for_o in_o every_o of_o the_o act_n of_o they_o be_v find_v a_o new_a service_n and_o increase_v and_o see_v sometime_o it_o fall_v out_o that_o those_o who_o endeavour_v to_o produce_v these_o act_n of_o love_a and_o desire_v the_o good_a and_o glory_n of_o god_n do_v yet_o find_v the_o will_n very_o dull_a hereunto_o therefore_o to_o give_v remedy_n to_o this_o disease_n we_o believe_v that_o this_o come_v so_o to_o pass_v because_o there_o want_v the_o holy_a hatred_n of_o ourselves_o which_o our_o redeemer_n teach_v we_o as_o in_o the_o six_o instruction_n or_o else_o some_o of_o our_o affection_n cleave_v to_o some_o earthly_a thing_n as_o the_o love_n of_o some_o delight_n not_o necessary_a or_o a_o affection_n to_o some_o person_n not_o right_o order_v he_o therefore_o that_o shall_v find_v himself_o so_o dull_a ought_v diligent_o to_o search_v out_o in_o himself_o such_o defect_n or_o affection_n and_o to_o take_v it_o away_o with_o contrary_a act_n nor_o be_v it_o any_o other_o thing_n to_o be_v willing_a to_o incline_v the_o will_n to_o bring_v four_o the_o act_n of_o the_o love_n of_o god_n above_o all_o thing_n not_o
