prophet_n esay_n find_v fault_n with_o some_o of_o his_o time_n 22.12.13_o esay_n 22.12.13_o who_o when_o the_o lord_n call_v they_o by_o his_o word_n and_o punishment_n unto_o fast_v they_o fall_v to_o feast_n and_o so_o there_o be_v as_o he_o say_v kill_v of_o sheep_n and_o ox_n eat_v and_o drink_v and_o so_o neither_o of_o they_o know_v what_o be_v fit_a for_o their_o several_a time_n we_o must_v therefore_o be_v persuade_v that_o as_o there_o be_v time_n in_o which_o god_n of_o his_o great_a mercy_n give_v we_o liberty_n to_o feast_v and_o to_o use_v his_o creature_n not_o only_o for_o necessity_n spare_o but_o for_o delight_v abundant_o as_o at_o marriage_n and_o other_o time_n of_o rejoice_v so_o there_o be_v a_o time_n also_o when_o he_o will_v have_v we_o not_o only_o eat_v may_v remember_v what_o be_v write_v concern_v fast_v in_o the_o book_n of_o leviticus_fw-la and_o namely_o how_o there_o it_o be_v say_v that_o the_o lord_n command_v the_o jew_n once_o a_o year_n that_o every_o soul_n shall_v humble_v itself_o with_o fast_v before_o the_o lord_n in_o one_o of_o the_o great_a assembly_n where_o moses_n show_v or_o rather_o the_o lord_n by_o he_o that_o this_o fast_n shall_v be_v keep_v perpetual_o once_o a_o year_n and_o in_o what_o month_n and_o what_o day_n of_o the_o month_n and_o to_o what_o end_n namely_o to_o humble_v themselves_o for_o their_o sin_n and_o therefore_o what_o must_v then_o be_v do_v viz._n that_o they_o must_v abstain_v from_o all_o work_n and_o worldly_a business_n and_o be_v occupy_v in_o all_o exercise_n of_o god_n worship_n as_o upon_o the_o sabbath_n day_n and_o that_o the_o priest_n shall_v make_v atonement_n by_o prayer_n to_o obtain_v remission_n of_o their_o sin_n and_o the_o same_o commandment_n be_v set_v down_o of_o fast_v yet_o beside_o that_o all_o learned_a man_n do_v thus_o take_v they_o that_o this_o be_v a_o day_n of_o yearly_a fast_n even_o the_o very_a circumstance_n also_o of_o the_o text_n do_v have_v abstain_v from_o these_o thing_n therefore_o we_o may_v be_v assure_v that_o this_o be_v mean_v in_o these_o place_n and_o that_o this_o be_v their_o practice_n that_o upon_o this_o day_n they_o abstain_v from_o meat_n and_o drink_n do_v thus_o also_o cease_v from_o work_n and_o be_v occupy_v in_o god_n worship_n to_o this_o end_n even_o to_o the_o humble_v of_o themselves_o before_o the_o lord_n and_o so_o this_o be_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v command_v they_o yearly_o to_o do_v even_o to_o keep_v a_o day_n of_o fast_o and_o there_o be_v great_a reason_n of_o it_o it_o there_o have_v a_o solemn_a day_n appoint_v for_o this_o purpose_n that_o the_o time_n itself_o may_v not_o only_o put_v they_o in_o mind_n of_o that_o which_o otherwise_o will_v have_v be_v forget_v of_o if_o there_o be_v no_o sabbath_n at_o all_o so_o the_o godly_a no_o doubt_n in_o those_o day_n do_v find_v by_o their_o own_o experience_n that_o though_o they_o have_v oftentimes_o cause_n in_o respect_n of_o their_o sin_n and_o the_o punishment_n of_o they_o to_o fast_v public_o and_o private_o yet_o if_o they_o have_v have_v no_o set_a time_n appoint_v for_o it_o they_o shall_v very_o of_o write_v if_o it_o may_v seem_v to_o bring_v tediousness_n unto_o the_o learned_a ear_n they_o must_v consider_v that_o first_o i_o preach_v these_o sermon_n to_o the_o mean_a sort_n man_n not_o jewish_a sabbath_n be_v take_v away_o which_o be_v upon_o the_o saturday_n yet_o whether_o we_o consider_v the_o end_n of_o fast_v or_o of_o sanctify_v a_o day_n of_o rest_n we_o be_v still_o bind_v to_o keep_v one_o in_o seven_o and_o this_o one_o that_o we_o do_v and_o we_o have_v as_o much_o need_n of_o it_o as_o the_o jew_n have_v so_o we_o may_v say_v of_o the_o day_n of_o fast_v though_o that_o prescript_n day_n be_v take_v away_o yet_o if_o we_o consider_v the_o end_n and_o cause_n of_o it_o namely_o to_o humble_v we_o for_o our_o sin_n we_o be_v bind_v to_o it_o still_o upon_o some_o day_n and_o have_v as_o much_o need_n of_o it_o as_o ever_o they_o have_v therefore_o we_o must_v be_v persuade_v that_o now_o god_n do_v require_v it_o of_o we_o and_o not_o only_o the_o king_n and_o so_o let_v we_o do_v it_o in_o obedience_n unto_o he_o principal_o and_o conscience_n of_o our_o duty_n thus_o we_o see_v also_o what_o we_o ought_v to_o have_v do_v and_o what_o god_n and_o the_o more_o that_o we_o see_v the_o hand_n of_o god_n increase_v against_o we_o in_o justice_n the_o more_o we_o labour_v to_o grow_v in_o humility_n and_o fervency_n of_o prayer_n than_o we_o doubt_v not_o but_o at_o the_o last_o by_o the_o event_n as_o the_o israelite_n do_v we_o shall_v see_v that_o we_o have_v not_o all_o this_o while_n lose_v our_o labour_n and_o call_v upon_o the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o vain_a therefore_o that_o we_o may_v with_o assure_a confidence_n and_o good_a hope_n persevere_v in_o this_o holy_a exercise_n of_o fast_v and_o prayer_n beside_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n make_v unto_o it_o which_o we_o have_v hear_v let_v we_o set_v this_o worthy_a example_n before_o our_o eye_n to_o comfort_v we_o that_o though_o the_o beginning_n have_v be_v full_a of_o sorrow_n as_o it_o be_v with_o they_o yet_o the_o end_n will_v be_v full_a of_o joy_n and_o consolation_n to_o ourselves_o and_o other_o and_o to_o the_o praise_n and_o glory_n of_o
