care_n to_o prepare_v themselves_o with_o meet_a gift_n either_o for_o wisdom_n and_o government_n or_o for_o a_o honest_a and_o convenient_a trade_n of_o life_n and_o calling_n to_o live_v and_o maintain_v a_o family_n thereby_o final_o when_o such_o as_o be_v in_o some_o good_a measure_n prepare_v with_o all_o meet_a gift_n for_o their_o condition_n and_o estate_n do_v inordinate_o affect_v and_o aspire_v after_o marriage_n with_o such_o as_o be_v above_o their_o degree_n while_o they_o suffer_v their_o heart_n to_o be_v steal_v away_o by_o beauty_n or_o riches_n or_o any_o like_a vain_a and_o dangerous_a temptation_n these_o indeed_o be_v sin_n and_o error_n of_o the_o mind_n contrary_a to_o the_o right_a manner_n of_o intend_v and_o desire_v marriage_n now_o which_o may_v the_o error_n be_v concern_v the_o person_n of_o such_o as_o shall_v intend_v marriage_n when_o either_o the_o one_o or_o both_o of_o they_o be_v unfit_a either_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o first_o childhood_n which_o be_v not_o far_o enough_o from_o the_o cradle_n or_o by_o reason_n of_o that_o which_o we_o call_v the_o second_o childhood_n which_o by_o the_o course_n of_o nature_n be_v too_o near_o the_o grave_n when_o such_o intend_v to_o marry_v who_o though_o for_o year_n they_o be_v meet_v yet_o the_o one_o of_o they_o be_v not_o meet_v through_o some_o defect_n in_o nature_n or_o through_o some_o noisome_a or_o contagious_a disease_n but_o then_o especial_o be_v the_o enterprise_n of_o marriage_n unlawful_a when_o the_o person_n so_o intend_v be_v such_o who_o nearness_n of_o blood_n or_o of_o affinity_n and_o kindred_n by_o marriage_n do_v forbid_v such_o as_o god_n forbid_v to_o marry_v together_o in_o the_o eighteen_o chapter_n of_o leviticus_fw-la it_o be_v true_a and_o this_o now_o last_o mention_v be_v that_o sin_n which_o be_v call_v incest_n because_o it_o be_v a_o special_a breach_n of_o chastity_n yea_o as_o though_o it_o shall_v be_v say_v that_o such_o with_o some_o caution_n against_o ceremonious_a scruple_n and_o chapter_n 15._o verse_n 25._o hitherto_o concern_v the_o sin_n of_o adultery_n and_o of_o those_o other_o error_n and_o sin_n which_o be_v against_o the_o law_n of_o marriage_n let_v we_o now_o go_v forward_o what_o other_o sin_n of_o uncleanness_n be_v forbid_v in_o this_o commandment_n beside_o adultery_n the_o lord_n our_o god_n do_v here_o also_o straight_o forbid_v those_o sin_n which_o be_v know_v by_o the_o name_n of_o fornication_n not_o only_o that_o which_o be_v otherwise_o call_v whoredom_n practise_v in_o the_o deuteronomy_n 32.8_o etc._n etc._n read_v also_o psalm_n 8._o and_o psalm_n 24._o and_o psalm_n 50.10_o etc._n etc._n and_o psalm_n 95.4.5_o and_o 115.16_o but_o many_o get_v that_o which_o they_o hold_v by_o no_o honest_a and_o lawful_a mean_n but_o by_o wicked_a practice_n and_o that_o partly_o by_o force_n and_o partly_o by_o deceit_n as_o have_v be_v answer_v before_o what_o be_v to_o be_v say_v to_o this_o howsoever_o it_o be_v that_o any_o hold_v good_n and_o possession_n whether_o by_o right_n or_o by_o wrong_n it_o be_v injustice_n for_o any_o live_n in_o a_o settle_a commonwealth_n to_o steal_v the_o least_o thing_n from_o they_o or_o to_o use_v any_o unlawful_a force_n yea_o though_o they_o be_v such_o as_o have_v just_o right_o thereunto_o what_o be_v to_o be_v do_v then_o poor_a which_o be_v in_o want_n four_o in_o respect_n of_o common_a society_n let_v we_o therefore_o consider_v of_o these_o thing_n several_o and_o first_o what_o be_v the_o equity_n of_o this_o commandment_n in_o respect_n of_o god_n himself_o see_v god_n be_v the_o god_n of_o righteousness_n and_o of_o all_o equity_n and_o judgement_n it_o can_v be_v but_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v very_o just_a and_o equal_a that_o he_o shall_v command_v his_o people_n all_o justice_n and_o judgement_n and_o that_o he_o shall_v forbid_v they_o the_o contrary_n equity_n the_o equity_n and_o likewise_o because_o he_o have_v the_o sovereign_a right_n of_o all_o thing_n in_o his_o own_o hand_n have_v in_o most_o excellent_a wisdom_n distribute_v and_o dispose_v to_o every_o man_n his_o several_a portion_n as_o be_v answer_v afore_o concern_v the_o ground_n and_o foundation_n of_o the_o righteousness_n of_o this_o commandment_n the_o lord_n in_o the_o unequal_a distribution_n of_o the_o riches_n of_o this_o world_n follow_v the_o same_o course_n which_o he_o hold_v in_o all_o other_o of_o his_o work_n there_o be_v a_o differ_a glory_n of_o the_o heavenly_a creature_n &_o so_o there_o be_v of_o the_o earthy_a in_o the_o several_a kind_n thereof_o he_o give_v to_o the_o rich_a abundance_n that_o the_o poor_a may_v therein_o behold_v his_o bounteous_a mercy_n he_o give_v to_o the_o poor_a less_o to_o some_o very_a little_a to_o other_o as_o it_o be_v nothing_o at_o all_o in_o comparison_n of_o the_o rest_n that_o both_o poor_a and_o rich_a may_v behold_v their_o own_o sin_n and_o by_o sin_n their_o unworthiness_n of_o the_o least_o benefit_n of_o this_o life_n god_n make_v not_o all_o poor_a because_o he_o will_v have_v some_o to_o relieve_v and_o succour_v the_o rest_n he_o make_v not_o all_o rich_a because_o than_o none_o shall_v be_v humble_v through_o want_n etc._n etc._n now_o therefore_o in_o the_o second_o place_n what_o be_v the_o equity_n of_o this_o commandment_n in_o respect_n of_o those_o that_o be_v owner_n and_o possessor_n of_o the_o wealth_n of_o the_o world_n because_o god_n have_v not_o so_o pass_v away_o his_o right_n and_o interest_n unto_o they_o but_o that_o the_o fee-simple_n as_o it_o be_v remain_v still_o in_o himself_o alone_o the_o rich_a therefore_o be_v but_o as_o steward_n to_o god_n that_o they_o may_v give_v to_o equity_n which_o the_o apostle_n paul_n reason_v from_o that_o he_o may_v move_v the_o faithful_a corinthian_n who_o be_v for_o the_o present_a more_o wealthy_a to_o help_v the_o afflict_a christian_n at_o jerusalem_n 2._o cor._n chap._n 8._o verse_n 13.14.15_o read_v also_o prou._n 27.24_o and_o psalm_n 113._o thus_o then_o the_o equity_n of_o this_o commandment_n the_o argument_n whereof_o be_v true_a justice_n and_o judgement_n concern_v our_o neighbour_n good_n and_o our_o own_o it_o be_v as_o you_o have_v answer_v very_o manifold_a this_o law_n of_o god_n therefore_o be_v so_o equal_a justice_n to_o work_v his_o own_o ambitious_a and_o licentious_a will_n which_o he_o make_v his_o sovereign_a law_n for_o the_o spoil_n of_o other_o man_n of_o their_o good_n to_o the_o enrich_n of_o himself_o wo_n to_o thou_o that_o spoil_v and_o be_v not_o spoil_v and_o do_v wicked_o and_o they_o do_v not_o wicked_o against_o thou_o say_v the_o lord_n by_o his_o holy_a prophet_n isaiah_n when_o thou_o shall_v cease_v to_o spoil_v thou_o shall_v be_v spoil_v and_o when_o thou_o shall_v make_v a_o end_n to_o do_v wicked_o they_o shall_v do_v wicked_o against_o thou_o chap._n 33.1_o read_v sell_v they_o because_o that_o be_v as_o it_o be_v the_o perfect_a conviction_n of_o the_o theft_n but_o if_o the_o cattle_n shall_v be_v find_v alive_a with_o the_o thief_n than_o the_o lord_n command_v but_o double_a restitution_n yet_o so_o as_o if_o the_o party_n can_v not_o make_v restitution_n either_o double_a or_o more_o as_o the_o cause_n shall_v require_v that_o then_o he_o shall_v loose_v his_o freedom_n and_o be_v sell_v for_o a_o bondslave_n this_o indeed_o be_v the_o law_n of_o god_n as_o we_o read_v exod._n chapter_n 22._o verse_n 1.4_o the_o same_o penalty_n of_o double_a restitution_n be_v lay_v upon_o the_o thief_n that_o steal_v any_o thing_n out_o of_o a_o man_n house_n as_o we_o read_v in_o the_o same_o chapter_n verse_n 7._o yet_o so_o again_o as_o if_o the_o stealth_n be_v attempt_v in_o way_n of_o burglary_n and_o break_v up_o of_o the_o house_n and_o that_o also_o in_o the_o night_n time_n he_o be_v put_v out_o of_o the_o protection_n of_o the_o law_n as_o a_o outlaw_a man_n so_o as_o if_o he_o be_v slay_v in_o his_o enterprise_n he_o that_o kill_v he_o be_v quit_v from_o murder_n curse_n the_o curse_n the_o blood_n of_o the_o thief_n be_v upon_o his_o own_o head_n verses_z 2.3_o that_o manifold_a restitution_n therefore_o or_o for_o want_n of_o restitution_n the_o loss_n of_o liberty_n and_o this_o vile_a account_n of_o the_o thief_n his_o life_n in_o the_o case_n of_o burglary_n show_v that_o they_o be_v under_o the_o curse_n of_o god_n touch_v
