use_v all_o good_a gift_n in_o this_o life_n 17_o oh_o dear_a brother_n it_o be_v unpossible_a to_o express_v what_o a_o great_a treasure_n a_o good_a conscience_n will_v be_v at_o this_o day_n it_o will_v be_v more_o worth_a than_o ten_o thousand_o world_n for_o wealth_n will_v not_o help_v the_o judge_n will_v not_o be_v corrupt_v with_o money_n no_o intercession_n of_o worldly_a friend_n &_o child_n mother_n &_o daughter_n friend_n and_o companion_n the_o one_o to_o glory_n the_o other_o to_o confusion_n with_o out_o ever_o see_v one_o the_o other_o again_o and_o that_o which_o shall_v be_v as_o great_a a_o grief_n as_o any_o other_o if_o it_o be_v true_a that_o some_o conceive_v that_o our_o knowledge_n one_o of_o another_o here_o on_o earth_n shall_v so_o far_o remain_v the_o son_n go_v to_o heaven_n shall_v not_o pity_v his_o own_o father_n or_o mother_n go_v to_o hell_n but_o shall_v rejoice_v at_o the_o same_o for_o that_o it_o turn_v to_o god_n glory_n for_o they_o become_v oh_o dear_a brother_n how_o sour_a will_v all_o the_o pleasure_n pass_v of_o this_o world_n seem_v at_o that_o hour_n how_o doleful_a will_v their_o memory_n be_v unto_o we_o how_o vain_a a_o thing_n will_v all_o our_o dignity_n our_o riches_n our_o possession_n appear_v and_o on_o the_o contrary_a side_n how_o joiful_a will_v that_o man_n be_v that_o have_v attend_v in_o this_o day_n of_o judgement_n which_o saint_n peter_n speak_v of_o be_v a_o earnest_a longing_n after_o it_o which_o never_o be_v have_v until_o first_o there_o go_v before_o a_o du_fw-fr examination_n of_o our_o estate_n and_o speedy_a amendment_n of_o our_o life_n past_a therefore_o say_v most_o notable_o the_o wise_a man_n 18._o provide_v thou_o of_o a_o medicine_n before_o the_o sore_o come_v and_o examine_v thyself_o before_o judgement_n and_o so_o shall_v thou_o find_v propitiation_n in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n to_o which_o saint_n paul_n agree_v when_o he_o say_v if_o we_o will_v judge_v the_o end_n that_o no_o man_n may_v just_o complain_v of_o the_o severe_a account_n which_o god_n be_v to_o take_v of_o we_o at_o the_o last_o day_n or_o of_o the_o severity_n of_o his_o judgement_n set_v down_o in_o the_o chapter_n before_o it_o shall_v not_o be_v amiss_o to_o consider_v in_o this_o chapter_n the_o cause_n why_o god_n do_v show_v such_o severity_n against_o sin_n and_o sinner_n as_o both_o by_o that_o which_o have_v be_v say_v do_v appear_v and_o also_o by_o the_o whole_a course_n of_o holy_a scripture_n where_o he_o in_o every_o place_n almost_o denounce_v his_o extreme_a hatred_n wrath_n &_o indignation_n against_o the_o same_o sinner_n as_o where_o it_o be_v say_v of_o he_o that_o he_o hate_v all_o those_o that_o work_n iniquity_n and_o that_o both_o the_o wicked_a man_n and_o his_o wickedness_n 15._o be_v in_o hatred_n with_o he_o and_o finaly_a that_o the_o whole_a life_n of_o sinner_n their_o thought_n word_n &_o work_n yea_o and_o their_o good_a action_n also_o be_v abomination_n in_o his_o sight_n while_o they_o live_v in_o sin_n and_o that_o which_o yet_o be_v more_o
he_o can_v abide_v nor_o permit_v the_o sinner_n to_o praise_v he_o or_o to_o name_v his_o testament_n with_o his_o mouth_n as_o the_o holy_a ghost_n testify_v and_o therefore_o no_o marvel_n if_o he_o show_v such_o rigour_n to_o he_o at_o the_o last_o day_n who_o he_o so_o great_o hate_v and_o abhor_v in_o this_o life_n 2_o there_o may_v be_v many_o reason_n allege_v of_o this_o as_o the_o breach_n of_o god_n commandment_n the_o ingratitude_n of_o a_o sinner_n in_o respect_n of_o his_o benefit_n and_o the_o like_a which_o may_v justify_v sufficient_o his_o indignation_n towards_o he_o sinner_n but_o there_o be_v one_o reason_n above_o the_o rest_n which_o open_v the_o whole_a fountain_n of_o the_o matter_n and_o that_o be_v the_o intolerable_a injury_n do_v unto_o god_n in_o every_o sin_n that_o witting_o we_o do_v commit_v which_o in_o deed_n be_v such_o a_o opprobrious_a injury_n and_o so_o dishonourable_a as_o no_o mean_a potentate_n can_v bear_v the_o same_o at_o his_o subject_n hand_n and_o much_o less_o god_n himself_o who_o be_v the_o god_n of_o majesty_n may_v abide_v to_o have_v the_o same_o so_o often_o iterate_v against_o he_o as_o common_o it_o be_v by_o a_o wicked_a man_n 3_o and_o for_o the_o understanding_n of_o this_o injury_n we_o must_v note_v that_o every_o time_n we_o commit_v such_o a_o sin_n there_o do_v pass_v through_o our_o hart_n though_o we_o mark_v it_o not_o a_o certain_a practik_a discourse_n of_o our_o understanding_n as_o there_o do_v also_o in_o every_o other_o election_n whereby_o we_o lie_v before_o we_o on_o the_o one_o side_n the_o profit_n of_o that_o sin_n which_o we_o be_v to_o commit_v that_o be_v the_o pleasure_n that_o draw_v we_o to_o it_o and_o on_o the_o other_o part_n the_o offence_n of_o god_n that_o be_v the_o lose_v of_o his_o friendship_n by_o that_o sin_n if_o we_o do_v it_o and_o so_o have_v as_o it_o be_v the_o balance_n there_o before_o we_o and_o put_v god_n in_o one_o end_n and_o in_o the_o other_o the_o aforesaid_a pleasure_n sin_n we_o stand_v in_o the_o midst_n deliberate_v and_o examine_v the_o weight_n of_o both_o part_n and_o final_o we_o do_v make_v choice_n of_o the_o pleasure_n and_o do_v reject_v god_n that_o be_v we_o do_v choose_v rather_o to_o lose_v the_o friendship_n of_o god_n with_o his_o grace_n and_o whatsoever_o he_o be_v worth_a beside_o than_o to_o lose_v that_o pleasure_n and_o delectation_n of_o sin_n now_o what_o thing_n can_v be_v more_o horrible_a than_o this_o what_o can_v be_v more_o spiteful_a to_o god_n than_o to_o prefer_v a_o most_o vile_a pleasure_n before_o his_o majesty_n be_v not_o this_o worse_a than_o intolerable_a injury_n of_o the_o jew_n 15._o who_o choose_v barrabas_n the_o murderer_n &_o reject_v christ_n their_o saviour_n sure_o how_o heinous_a soever_o that_o sin_n of_o the_o jew_n be_v yet_o in_o two_o point_n this_o do_v seem_v to_o exceed_v it_o the_o one_o in_o that_o the_o jew_n know_v not_o who_o they_o refuse_v in_o their_o choice_n as_o we_o do_v the_o other_o in_o that_o they_o refuse_v christ_n but_o once_o and_o we_o do_v it_o often_o yea_o daily_a &_o hourly_o when_o with_o advisement_n we_o give_v consent_n in_o our_o heart_n unto_o sin_n 4_o and_o be_v it_o marvel_v then_o that_o god_n deal_v so_o severe_o and_o sharp_o in_o the_o world_n to_o come_v with_o wicked_a man_n who_o do_v use_v he_o so_o opprobrious_o &_o contemptuous_o in_o this_o life_n sure_o the_o malice_n of_o a_o sinner_n be_v great_a towards_o god_n &_o he_o do_v not_o only_o dishonour_v he_o by_o contempt_n of_o his_o commandment_n god_n &_o by_o prefer_v most_o vile_a creature_n before_o he_o but_o also_o bear_v a_o secret_a hatred_n &_o grudge_n against_o his_o majesty_n &_o will_v if_o it_o lay_v in_o his_o power_n pull_v he_o out_o of_o his_o seat_n or_o at_o the_o leastwise_o wish_v there_o be_v no_o god_n at_o all_o to_o punish_v sin_n after_o this_o life_n let_v every_o sinner_n examine_v the_o bottom_n of_o his_o conscience_n in_o this_o point_n whether_o he_o can_v not_o be_v content_a there_o be_v no_o immortality_n of_o the_o soul_n no_o reckon_n after_o this_o life_n no_o judge_n no_o punishment_n no_o hell_n &_o consequent_o no_o god_n to_o the_o end_n he_o may_v the_o more_o secure_o enjoy_v his_o pleasure_n 5_o and_o because_o god_n which_o search_v the_o hart_n and_o reins_n see_v well_o this_o traitorous_a affection_n of_o sinner_n towards_o he_o lurk_v within_o their_o bowel_n 3._o how_o smooth_a soever_o their_o word_n be_v therefore_o he_o this_o how_o sinner_n after_o they_o be_v spring_v up_o and_o worker_n of_o iniquity_n after_o they_o have_v appear_v to_o the_o world_n do_v perish_v everlasting_o and_o what_o be_v the_o reason_n great_a and_o worthy_a the_o person_n be_v against_o who_o a_o offence_n be_v commit_v so_o much_o great_a the_o offence_n be_v as_o the_o selfsame_o blow_n geeven_a to_o a_o servant_n and_o to_o a_o prince_n differ_v great_o in_o offence_n and_o deserve_v different_a hatred_n and_o punishment_n and_o for_o that_o every_o sin_n which_o we_o advise_o commit_v be_v do_v direct_o against_o the_o person_n of_o god_n himself_o as_o have_v be_v declare_v before_o who_o dignity_n be_v infinite_a therefore_o the_o offence_n or_o guilt_n of_o every_o such_o sin_n be_v infinite_a and_o consequent_o deserve_v infinite_a hatred_n and_o infinite_a punishment_n
