reconciliation_n and_o if_o god_n do_v not_o begin_v it_o certain_o we_o shall_v never_o be_v reconcile_v unto_o he_o it_o be_v god_n first_o that_o begin_v to_o have_v any_o thought_n about_o reconciliation_n and_o if_o he_o shall_v not_o have_v do_v it_o we_o will_v never_o have_v think_v on_o it_o but_o have_v go_v on_o desperate_a enemy_n to_o he_o all_o our_o life_n second_o it_o be_v god_n that_o find_v the_o way_n of_o reconciliation_n we_o can_v never_o think_v of_o a_o way_n or_o if_o we_o do_v we_o can_v never_o have_v find_v out_o a_o way_n three_o it_o be_v god_n that_o begin_v to_o offer_v term_n of_o reconciliation_n we_o will_v never_o go_v unto_o god_n except_o god_n come_v unto_o we_o such_o be_v the_o stoutness_n of_o our_o heart_n four_o it_o be_v god_n that_o must_v not_o only_o come_v once_o but_o again_o and_o again_o after_o we_o have_v refuse_v god_n must_v begin_v again_o indeed_o a_o amongst_o man_n when_o a_o inferior_a have_v offend_v one_o that_o be_v above_o he_o he_o will_v say_v let_v he_o come_v to_o i_o if_o he_o wil._n god_n do_v not_o stand_v upon_o such_o term_n god_n do_v not_o say_v let_v man_n come_v unto_o i_o first_o no_o say_v god_n i_o will_v go_v unto_o he_o a_o man_n will_v say_v if_o he_o be_v the_o superior_a i_o will_v never_o trouble_v my_o thought_n about_o it_o it_o shall_v come_v from_o he_o first_o but_o god_n do_v not_o say_v so_o his_o thought_n have_v be_v towards_o we_o &_o that_o from_o eternity_n the_o lord_n from_o eternity_n have_v have_v thought_n of_o peace_n towards_o we_o and_o he_o
needs_o be_v great_a it_o be_v sin_n that_o make_v the_o distance_n between_o god_n and_o we_o and_o that_o be_v so_o vast_a and_o wide_a that_o it_o do_v necessary_o require_v a_o mediator_n to_o come_v between_o and_o especial_o upon_o this_o ground_n because_o the_o lord_n be_v resolve_v to_o have_v that_o wrong_n that_o be_v do_v unto_o he_o by_o the_o sin_n of_o man_n perfect_o make_v up_o sin_n have_v wrong_v god_n and_o god_n be_v resolve_v upon_o it_o he_o be_v set_v upon_o it_o to_o have_v this_o wrong_n complete_o make_v up_o and_o that_o he_o himself_o will_v be_v perfect_o right_v and_o this_o god_n justice_n call_v for_o and_o thus_o stand_v the_o term_n between_o god_n and_o man_n man_n have_v wrong_v god_n and_o god_n and_o he_o be_v now_o at_o variance_n and_o god_n stand_v upon_o it_o and_o be_v resolve_v with_o himself_o thus_o though_o i_o be_v willing_a to_o be_v at_o peace_n with_o they_o yet_o i_o will_v be_v at_o peace_n with_o they_o so_o as_o i_o will_v have_v the_o wrong_n that_o be_v do_v make_v up_o my_o justice_n shall_v be_v full_o and_o complete_o satisfy_v i_o must_v be_v right_v for_o i_o be_o god_n and_o there_o shall_v not_o be_v such_o a_o flaw_n remain_v in_o my_o justice_n to_o eternity_n as_o that_o such_o and_o such_o creature_n shall_v sin_v against_o i_o and_o i_o pass_v it_o by_o without_o have_v any_o satisfaction_n for_o say_v god_n this_o will_v be_v a_o flaw_n in_o my_o justice_n for_o ever_o and_o that_o i_o will_v not_o have_v and_o therefore_o i_o will_v be_v right_v in_o that_o wrong_n that_o be_v do_v i_o by_o the_o fall_n of_o man._n it_o be_v true_a when_o one_o man_n come_v to_o treat_v about_o peace_n and_o reconciliation_n with_o another_o it_o be_v sometime_o necessary_a for_o he_o to_o pass_v by_o a_o offence_n without_o any_o satisfaction_n at_o all_o especial_o when_o that_o poor_a creature_n that_o have_v offend_v be_v not_o able_a to_o make_v satisfaction_n but_o it_o be_v not_o so_o between_o god_n and_o man_n though_o one_o man_n be_v at_o variance_n with_o another_o when_o he_o see_v that_o he_o that_o have_v do_v he_o the_o wrong_n can_v make_v satisfaction_n he_o than_o be_v indeed_o to_o pass_v it_o by_o but_o god_n mercy_n do_v never_o work_v after_o that_o manner_n though_o the_o mercy_n in_o a_o man_n may_v work_v he_o to_o such_o a_o reconciliation_n and_o though_o god_n be_v a_o god_n of_o infinite_a mercy_n infinite_o more_o merciful_a than_o any_o creature_n can_v be_v yet_o the_o way_n of_o the_o work_n of_o god_n mercy_n be_v a_o different_a way_n from_o the_o work_n of_o the_o creature_n mercy_n neither_o do_v it_o argue_v that_o there_o be_v not_o as_o much_o mercy_n in_o god_n as_o there_o be_v in_o the_o creature_n but_o that_o the_o way_n of_o the_o work_n of_o god_n mercy_n be_v different_a from_o that_o of_o the_o creature_n and_o this_o be_v the_o way_n of_o the_o work_n of_o god_n mercy_n not_o to_o pass_v by_o the_o wrong_n do_v but_o to_o provide_v some_o mean_n or_o other_o himself_n to_o satisfy_v that_o wrong_n to_o the_o end_n that_o he_o may_v have_v his_o justice_n satisfy_v and_o because_o that_o this_o be_v necessary_a hence_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v of_o our_o be_v reconcile_v unto_o god_n through_o jesus_n christ_n the_o necessity_n of_o christ_n be_v a_o mediator_n be_v not_o so_o much_o this_o that_o we_o be_v grievous_a sinner_n and_o so_o we_o have_v need_n of_o abundance_n of_o mercy_n from_o god_n if_o there_o be_v nothing_o but_o these_o two_o only_a that_o we_o be_v great_a sinner_n and_o so_o have_v need_n of_o great_a mercy_n there_o will_v not_o come_v a_o necessity_n of_o christ_n but_o we_o be_v great_a sinner_n and_o we_o have_v need_n of_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n and_o the_o wrong_n that_o sin_n have_v do_v unto_o god_n must_v be_v make_v up_o and_o his_o justice_n full_o satisfy_v and_o here_o come_v in_o the_o necessity_n of_o a_o christ_n and_o thus_o god_n be_v reconcile_a himself_n to_o the_o world_n in_o this_o regard_n and_o the_o truth_n be_v though_o some_o of_o you_o have_v hear_v the_o sound_n of_o this_o oftentimes_o yet_o you_o must_v know_v this_o be_v the_o great_a mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o by_o our_o present_v this_o unto_o you_o again_o and_o again_o perhaps_o god_n will_v give_v you_o a_o further_a insight_n into_o this_o truth_n it_o be_v this_o that_o the_o angel_n desire_v so_o much_o to_o pry_v into_o they_o know_v this_o that_o god_n justice_n must_v be_v satisfy_v but_o they_o know_v it_o not_o so_o and_o so_o as_o the_o church_n know_v it_o and_o as_o the_o saint_n know_v it_o and_o therefore_o they_o pry_v more_o and_o more_o into_o it_o to_o see_v the_o further_a depth_n of_o it_o as_o indeed_o there_o be_v great_a and_o great_a depth_n in_o this_o mystery_n which_o we_o can_v never_o fathom_v and_o which_o be_v only_o reserve_v for_o the_o time_n of_o the_o resurrection_n most_o people_n think_v that_o when_o they_o be_v to_o seek_v for_o reconciliation_n with_o god_n they_o have_v to_o do_v with_o god_n only_o as_o a_o merciful_a god_n but_o you_o must_v know_v when_o you_o have_v to_o do_v with_o god_n about_o reconciliation_n you_o have_v to_o do_v with_o more_o than_o with_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n you_o have_v to_o do_v with_o god_n reconcile_n himself_o to_o the_o world_n in_o his_o son_n and_o you_o can_v never_o seek_v reconciliation_n with_o god_n in_o a_o right_a evangelical_n way_n unless_o you_o seek_v it_o in_o his_o son_n that_o brief_o shall_v suffice_v for_o the_o first_o the_o necessity_n of_o christ_n come_v in_o to_o the_o work_n of_o reconciliation_n chap._n 14._o how_o christ_n come_v to_o be_v a_o fit_a reconciler_n open_v in_o seven_o particular_n 1._o because_o he_o be_v the_o second_o person_n in_o the_o trinity_n 2._o he_o have_v take_v our_o nature_n on_o he_o 3._o he_o know_v full_o the_o mind_n of_o the_o father_n 4._o he_o full_o know_v what_o will_v satisfy_v the_o father_n 5._o god_n the_o father_n do_v infinite_o love_v he_o 6._o he_o never_o offend_v the_o father_n 7._o what_o he_o do_v have_v infinite_a efficacy_n and_o worth_n the_o second_o thing_n propound_v in_o the_o twelve_o chapter_n be_v this_o how_o christ_n come_v to_o be_v a_o fit_a reconciler_n it_o be_v he_o who_o be_v the_o great_a peacemaker_n and_o therefore_o in_o the_o scripture_n he_o be_v call_v the_o prince_n of_o peace_n it_o be_v he_o that_o be_v melchezedeck_v king_n of_o righteousness_n and_o king_n of_o peace_n but_o how_o come_v he_o to_o be_v so_o by_o be_v a_o mediator_n between_o the_o father_n and_o we_o and_o so_o you_o shall_v find_v he_o be_v call_v in_o the_o scripture_n heb._n 8_o 6._o but_o he_o have_v obtain_v a_o more_o excellent_a ministry_n by_o how_o much_o also_o he_o be_v the_o mediator_n of_o a_o better_a covenant_n that_o be_v of_o a_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o not_o of_o that_o covenant_n of_o work_n now_o christ_n he_o be_v a_o fit_a mediator_n to_o come_v in_o and_o to_o mediate_v between_o god_n and_o we_o as_o among_o man_n when_o there_o be_v a_o breach_n between_o two_o and_o they_o be_v at_o a_o distance_n the_o breach_n be_v such_o as_o require_v one_o to_o come_v in_o and_o to_o mediate_v between_o they_o it_o be_v not_o always_o necessary_a between_o man_n and_o man_n where_o there_o be_v a_o breath_n that_o one_o shall_v come_v and_o mediate_v but_o there_o be_v a_o breath_n between_o god_n and_o we_o it_o be_v absolute_o necessary_a that_o a_o mediator_n shall_v come_v in_o to_o treat_v between_o god_n and_o we_o and_o there_o can_v never_o have_v be_v the_o least_o parley_n the_o least_o treaty_n between_o god_n and_o fall_v man_n have_v not_o a_o mediator_n step_v in_o between_o and_o this_o mediator_n be_v jesus_n christ_n and_o it_o be_v he_o that_o be_v only_o fit_a to_o be_v our_o reconciler_n and_o peacemaker_n 1._o because_o he_o be_v the_o second_o person_n in_o trinity_n and_o in_o that_o regard_n he_o be_v fit_a you_o will_v say_v how_o do_v this_o make_v he_o fit_v thus_o the_o sin_n that_o be_v commit_v in_o the_o first_o transgression_n be_v more_o direct_o against_o the_o first_o person_n god_n the_o father_n why_o will_v you_o say_v be_v it_o against_o one_o person_n rather_o than_o against_o another_o it_o be_v indeed_o against_o they_o all_o but_o it_o be_v more_o direct_o against_o the_o first_o person_n and_o this_o be_v the_o reason_n of_o it_o because_o man_n first_o sin_n be_v against_o that_o perfection_n which_o god_n give_v he_o in_o his_o creation_n against_o that_o create_a righteousness_n that_o be_v put_v into_o he_o which_o be_v especial_o the_o work_n
himself_o and_o the_o father_n must_v look_v upon_o he_o as_o the_o head_n of_o a_o covenant_n to_o which_o we_o belong_v likewise_o so_o that_o his_o obedience_n and_o suffer_v be_v to_o be_v look_v upon_o now_o not_o as_o do_v by_o a_o private_a person_n but_o look_v upon_o as_o the_o obedience_n and_o suffer_v of_o a_o public_a person_n of_o one_o that_o bear_v our_o name_n before_o god_n the_o father_n and_o herein_o there_o be_v a_o further_a mystery_n of_o godliness_n the_o reconciliation_n between_o man_n and_o man_n be_v only_o when_o one_o that_o be_v a_o stranger_n come_v and_o stand_v between_o and_o mediate_v there_o be_v not_o require_v such_o a_o union_n between_o he_o that_o he_o mediate_v for_o and_o himself_o but_o christ_n come_v not_o in_o mere_o as_o a_o three_o person_n between_o god_n and_o we_o but_o he_o come_v to_o take_v our_o very_a nature_n upon_o he_o and_o we_o be_v make_v one_o in_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n he_o as_o the_o head_n and_o we_o as_o the_o member_n that_o look_v as_o adam_n stand_v before_o god_n as_o the_o head_n of_o the_o first_o covenant_n of_o work_n and_o so_o we_o be_v all_o look_v upon_o at_o first_o in_o he_o and_o die_v in_o he_o so_o christ_n who_o be_v call_v the_o second_o adam_n stand_v before_o the_o lord_n as_o the_o head_n of_o the_o second_o covenant_n and_o all_o those_o that_o he_o do_v mediate_v for_o and_o who_o he_o do_v seek_v to_o reconcile_v to_o the_o father_n stand_v all_o before_o the_o father_n in_o he_o so_o that_o his_o work_n be_v impute_v to_o be_v they_o and_o the_o lord_n look_v upon_o they_o in_o their_o head_n fulfil_v that_o second_o covenant_n of_o life_n and_o peace_n that_o he_o have_v make_v with_o poor_a creature_n in_o he_o so_o that_o you_o must_v not_o only_o look_v upon_o christ_n to_o be_v a_o saviour_n as_o the_o son_n of_o god_n in_o heaven_n but_o if_o you_o will_v look_v upon_o he_o with_o comfort_n you_o must_v look_v upon_o he_o as_o the_o head_n of_o a_o second_o covenant_n and_o upon_o yourselves_o join_v with_o he_o as_o member_n of_o he_o and_o so_o present_v unto_o the_o father_n through_o he_o thus_o god_n be_v in_o christ_n reconcile_n himself_o to_o the_o world_n god_n look_v upon_o christ_n and_o through_o christ_n as_o the_o head_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n upon_o all_o those_o that_o christ_n do_v undertake_v for_o as_o covenanter_n join_v together_o with_o he_o come_v to_o be_v reconcile_v to_o all_o those_o which_o shall_v be_v everlasting_o save_v this_o be_v the_o mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n god_n in_o christ_n reconcile_n the_o world_n to_o himself_o what_o christ_n be_v have_v be_v open_v and_o what_o christ_n have_v undertake_v and_o how_o god_n look_v upon_o we_o through_o this_o mediator_n these_o thing_n you_o must_v search_v into_o and_o cry_v unto_o god_n that_o by_o his_o spirit_n he_o whuld_v open_v these_o mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n unto_o you_o and_o then_o you_o shall_v see_v much_o of_o the_o mystery_n of_o grace_n and_o of_o the_o mind_n of_o god_n and_o so_o come_v to_o have_v abundance_n of_o peace_n with_o god_n notwithstanding_o all_o the_o present_a remainder_n of_o uncleanness_n that_o be_v in_o your_o heart_n chap._n 17._o how_o we_o come_v to_o have_v interest_n in_o what_o christ_n have_v do_v be_v further_o open_v we_o have_v the_o head_n of_o a_o second_o covenant_n for_o as_o the_o foundation_n of_o the_o breach_n that_o be_v between_o god_n and_o we_o at_o the_o first_o come_v by_o the_o first_o man_n adam_n who_o be_v the_o head_n of_o the_o first_o covenant_n in_o who_o we_o all_o sin_v and_o so_o turn_v enemy_n unto_o god_n so_o jesus_n christ_n be_v make_v a_o second_o adam_n and_o the_o head_n of_o a_o second_o covenant_n and_o all_o those_o that_o be_v look_v upon_o as_o the_o posterity_n of_o the_o second_o adam_n for_o so_o it_o must_v be_v they_o be_v look_v upon_o as_o one_o in_o he_o as_o all_o that_o be_v of_o the_o posterity_n of_o the_o first_o adam_n be_v look_v upon_o as_o one_o man_n in_o he_o and_o so_o the_o breach_n be_v make_v and_o enmity_n come_v between_o god_n and_o all_o that_o one_o man_n posterity_n so_o all_o that_o be_v to_o be_v of_o the_o posterity_n of_o the_o second_o adam_n that_o be_v either_o actual_o of_o he_o or_o be_v to_o be_v bear_v of_o he_o by_o a_o spiritual_a generation_n which_o in_o the_o scripture_n be_v term_v regeneration_n all_o those_o be_v look_v upon_o as_o one_o with_o he_o and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o in_o the_o 1._o cor._n 15.47_o the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o the_o first_o and_o second_o adam_n as_o if_o there_o be_v no_o more_o but_o two_o man_n in_o the_o world_n for_o indeed_o there_o be_v no_o more_o in_o that_o sense_n nor_o ever_o be_v the_o first_o man_n say_v the_o apostle_n be_v of_o the_o earth_n earthly_a the_o second_o man_n be_v the_o lord_n from_o heaven_n heavenly_a here_o be_v the_o first_o man_n and_o the_o second_o man_n why_o you_o will_v say_v be_v there_o but_o two_o man_n in_o the_o world_n no_o not_o in_o that_o sense_n that_o be_v there_o be_v never_o but_o two_o man_n that_o do_v represent_v all_o other_o and_o under_o those_o two_o man_n be_v all_o other_o man_n in_o the_o world_n represent_v before_o god_n al_n the_o child_n of_o man_n that_o fall_v from_o god_n the_o be_v represent_v in_o the_o first_o adam_n who_o be_v the_o head_n of_o the_o first_o covenant_n and_o they_o stand_v under_o that_o covenant_n and_o all_o those_o that_o god_n intend_v to_o be_v reconcile_v unto_o and_o to_o glorify_v they_o be_v represent_v before_o god_n in_o the_o second_o adam_n who_o be_v the_o head_n of_o the_o second_o covenant_n it_o be_v true_a if_o we_o speak_v proper_o cain_n be_v in_o order_n the_o second_o man_n in_o the_o world_n but_o christ_n be_v the_o second_o man_n that_o be_v the_o head_n of_o a_o second_o covenant_n the_o second_o man_n that_o god_n do_v enter_v into_o the_o covenant_n withal_o for_o other_o man_n and_o in_o that_o sense_n he_o alone_o be_v the_o second_o man_n as_o in_o the_o same_o sense_n adam_n be_v call_v the_o first_o man_n so_o that_o god_n be_v reconcile_v to_o the_o world_n in_o christ_n that_o be_v as_o in_o the_o first_o adam_n the_o breach_n be_v make_v between_o god_n and_o man_n so_o in_o the_o second_o adam_n reconciliation_n be_v make_v between_o god_n and_o man_n and_o as_o god_n impute_v that_o which_o the_o first_o adam_n do_v to_o his_o posterity_n for_o condemnation_n so_o that_o which_o the_o second_o adam_n do_v he_o do_v impute_v to_o the_o posterity_n of_o that_o second_o adam_n for_o life_n and_o reconciliation_n and_o that_o you_o have_v more_o large_o discuss_v in_o the_o most_o part_n of_o the_o five_o chapter_n of_o the_o rom._n especial_o from_o the_o middle_n of_o the_o chapter_n to_o the_o end_n chap._n 18._o eight_o consequence_n of_o our_o reconciliation_n be_v make_v in_o christ_n 1._o it_o be_v a_o deep_a mystery_n 2._o it_o be_v very_o free_a 3._o it_o be_v sure_a and_o certain_a 4._o it_o be_v full_a 5._o it_o be_v a_o honourable_a way_n 6._o yet_o in_o such_o a_o way_n as_o do_v debase_v man_n 7._o it_o be_v firm_a and_o everlasting_a 8._o this_o reconciliation_n be_v a_o very_a difficult_a work_n there_o be_v yet_o
the_o five_o and_o sixth_o particular_n mention_v in_o the_o twelve_o chapter_n that_o follow_v in_o the_o explication_n of_o this_o point_n of_o reconciliation_n with_o god_n in_o christ_n and_o when_o we_o have_v do_v they_o we_o shall_v come_v to_o the_o application_n of_o all_o the_o six_o thiing_n and_o the_o five_o be_v some_o consequence_n that_o follow_v from_o what_o have_v be_v speak_v for_o if_o we_o be_v reconcile_v to_o god_n in_o christ_n we_o may_v from_o thence_o draw_v diverse_a cosequence_n i_o shall_v not_o now_o do_v it_o by_o way_n of_o application_n but_o only_o show_v you_o how_o such_o consequence_n as_o i_o shall_v name_n do_v natural_o flow_v from_o what_o have_v be_v say_v for_o if_o the_o reconconciliation_n between_o god_n and_o we_o be_v in_o christ_n then_o there_o be_v these_o particular_n of_o it_o and_o these_o thing_n may_v be_v say_v concern_v it_o consequence_n 1._o first_o hence_o it_o follow_v that_o the_o reconciliation_n of_o the_o of_o heart_n though_o he_o see_v that_o we_o do_v provoke_v he_o day_n by_o day_n well_o say_v god_n whereas_o i_o stand_v upon_o perfect_a obedience_n in_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n now_o say_v god_n i_o will_v he_o satisfy_v with_o the_o will_n for_o the_o deed_n if_o there_o be_v but_o uprightness_n of_o heart_n though_o there_o be_v many_o weakness_n yet_o i_o will_v be_v willing_a and_o believe_a be_v a_o great_a matter_n but_o consider_v it_o in_o its_o self_n it_o be_v not_o such_o a_o great_a matter_n but_o only_o in_o relation_n unto_o christ_n in_o its_o own_o nature_n it_o be_v but_o as_o a_o poor_a beggar_n that_o put_v forth_o his_o hand_n to_o take_v the_o alm_n and_o it_o be_v god_n that_o give_v it_o to_o we_o two_o now_o if_o we_o do_v any_o thing_n what_o can_v we_o do_v less_o than_o receive_v especial_o when_o we_o have_v a_o hand_n give_v we_o by_o god_n wherewith_o to_o receive_v as_o if_o a_o beggar_n have_v a_o alm_n promise_v he_o if_o he_o will_v come_v and_o take_v it_o oh_o but_o say_v the_o beggar_n i_o be_o lame_a i_o can_v go_v and_o my_o hand_n be_v wither_v i_o can_v stretch_v it_o forth_o well_o he_o that_o will_v give_v the_o alm_n say_v sin_n that_o ever_o thou_o have_v commit_v except_o that_o one_o against_o the_o holy_a spirit_n no_o other_o sin_n shall_v bar_v or_o hinder_v the_o work_n of_o thy_o reconciliation_n and_o certain_o where_o that_o sin_n be_v commit_v the_o heart_n will_v never_o desire_v to_o come_v in_o to_o be_v reconcile_v to_o god_n but_o fly_v in_o the_o face_n of_o god_n to_o revenge_v himself_o upon_o god_n but_o if_o thou_o have_v a_o heart_n that_o desire_v to_o come_v in_o to_o god_n that_o be_v a_o infallible_a argument_n that_o thou_o have_v not_o commit_v that_o sin_n i_o may_v give_v you_o do_v deal_v in_o a_o familiar_a way_n as_o man_n to_o man_n when_o he_o have_v bring_v his_o argument_n and_o answer_v objection_n and_o be_v importunate_a and_o plead_v then_o true_o sometime_o if_o it_o be_v a_o tender_a heart_a man_n perhaps_o his_o heart_n do_v even_o break_v within_o he_o and_o he_o be_v ready_a to_o burst_v out_o with_o tear_n because_o of_o the_o stoutness_n and_o frowardness_n of_o such_o a_o one_o that_o will_v ruin_v himself_o and_o stand_v out_o against_o so_o much_o reason_n and_o that_o prevail_a more_o than_o all_o the_o other_o argument_n especial_o when_o he_o be_v to_o speak_v to_o one_o that_o he_o have_v any_o reference_n to_o as_o a_o father_n the_o father_n perhaps_o persuade_v the_o child_n and_o answer_n what_o the_o child_n have_v to_o say_v be_v importunate_a appeal_v to_o the_o conscience_n of_o the_o child_n yet_o he_o stand_v out_o stubborn_o and_o at_o length_n the_o father_n or_o mother_n can_v hold_v no_o long_o but_o burst_v out_o in_o tear_n lament_v the_o hardness_n of_o heart_n of_o such_o a_o one_o now_o if_o a_o child_n that_o be_v stubborn_a shall_v look_v in_o at_o a_o keyhole_n and_o see_v his_o father_n or_o mother_n shed_v of_o tear_n because_o of_o his_o hardness_n of_o heart_n than_o the_o child_n will_v certain_o be_v convince_v of_o this_o now_o certain_o my_o father_n love_v i_o and_o all_o he_o do_v it_o be_v but_o for_o my_o good_a certain_o thus_o do_v christ_n when_o he_o come_v to_o hjerusalem_n he_o weep_v over_o it_o upon_o what_o ground_n o_o that_o thou_o have_v know_v in_o this_o thy_o day_n the_o thing_n that_o concern_v thy_o peace_n o_o that_o thou_o have_v know_v &_o christ_n fall_v a_o weep_n now_o we_o be_v to_o know_v this_o that_o the_o tear_n of_o christ_n at_o that_o time_n concern_v sinner_n now_o as_o very_o &_o true_o as_o they_o do_v concern_v sinner_n at_o that_o very_a instant_n and_o we_o be_v to_o look_v upon_o christ_n carriage_n of_o himself_o to_o sinner_n in_o former_a time_n as_o at_o this_o instant_n concern_v we_o and_o among_o we_o now_o i_o will_v appeal_v to_o you_o suppose_v christ_n be_v bear_v in_o this_o world_n in_o the_o flesh_n again_o as_o he_o be_v and_o shall_v come_v and_o look_v towards_o this_o commonwealth_n and_o shall_v come_v hither_o and_o say_v o_o england_n england_n o_o that_o thou_o have_v know_v the_o thing_n that_o concern_v thy_o peace_n and_o shall_v weep_v over_o london_n or_o weep_v over_o westminster_n as_o he_o do_v over_o that_o city_n of_o hjerusalem_n will_v not_o this_o break_v our_o heart_n will_v not_o we_o take_v this_o as_o a_o great_a argument_n that_o christ_n be_v very_o dersirous_a of_o the_o peace_n of_o this_o city_n or_o place_n now_o concern_v every_o particular_a soul_n it_o be_v true_a and_o every_o one_o shall_v make_v use_n of_o that_o scripture_n and_o apply_v it_o to_o themselves_o as_o if_o christ_n stand_v weep_v over_o it_o and_o say_v oh_o that_o thou_o have_v know_v at_o least_o in_o this_o thy_o day_n the_o thing_n that_o concern_v thy_o peace_n will_v not_o this_o break_v your_o heart_n this_o town_n that_o christ_n send_v his_o gospel_n among_o and_o suppose_v you_o can_v see_v he_o bodily_a jesus_n christ_n stand_v here_o and_o one_o tear_n trickle_v down_o after_o another_o &_o say_v o_o that_o this_o people_n do_v but_o know_v the_o thing_n that_o concern_v their_o peace_n at_o least_o in_o this_o their_o day_n when_o they_o have_v a_o price_n put_v into_o their_o hand_n before_o the_o gospel_n sun_n go_v down_o or_o be_v eclipse_v sure_o we_o shall_v say_v that_o christ_n tear_n argue_v the_o roll_a of_o his_o bowel_n towards_o they_o it_o may_v be_v their_o time_n will_v not_o continue_v long_o o_o that_o they_o know_v it_o now_o if_o you_o do_v see_v christ_n thus_o weep_v i_o suppose_v this_o will_v be_v a_o mighty_a argument_n to_o you_o that_o christ_n be_v willing_a to_o be_v reconcile_v to_o you_o we_o be_v i_o say_v to_o make_v use_n of_o that_o scripture_n as_o if_o it_o be_v now_o and_o though_o christ_n do_v not_o shed_v tear_n now_o in_o heaven_n yet_o there_o be_v as_o much_o compassion_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o christ_n now_o as_o ever_o there_o be_v here_o upon_o earth_n he_o have_v lose_v no_o compassion_n by_o go_v to_o heaven_n and_o therefore_o know_v that_o jesus_n christ_n do_v look_v at_o this_o day_n upon_o this_o congregation_n and_o many_o particular_a soul_n it_o be_v propable_a christ_n more_o special_o eye_n and_o say_v in_o his_o very_a heart_n oh_o that_o such_o a_o soul_n such_o a_o servant_n such_o a_o youth_n oh_o that_o they_o do_v but_o know_v the_o thing_n that_o concern_v their_o peace_n for_o now_o the_o gospel_n be_v open_v to_o they_o and_o a_o day_n of_o salvation_n be_v make_v know_v to_o they_o and_o they_o be_v labour_v to_o be_v draw_v from_o their_o evil_a way_n to_o embrace_v i_o and_o oh_o that_o they_o do_v know_v these_o thing_n that_o concern_v their_o peace_n and_o thus_o it_o appear_v how_o willing_a god_n be_v to_o be_v reconcile_v i_o shall_v afterward_o show_v somewhat_o about_o christ_n in_o a_o more_o special_a manner_n that_o sinner_n shall_v come_v and_o be_v reconcile_v unto_o god_n chap._n 76._o the_o sixteenth_o argument_n manifest_v the_o exceed_a willingness_n of_o god_n to_o be_v reconcile_v to_o sinner_n further_o there_o be_v a_o other_o evidence_n of_o the_o willingness_n of_o god_n to_o be_v reconcile_v unto_o sinner_n and_o that_o be_v this_o the_o lord_n do_v foresee_v that_o after_o he_o have_v do_v all_o to_o be_v reconcile_v unto_o sinner_n let_v he_o do_v what_o he_o can_v the_o lord_n foresee_v what_o a_o little_a honour_n he_o shall_v have_v for_o the_o present_a at_o least_o in_o now_o and_o will_v grieve_v the_o holy_a spirit_n that_o do_v thus_o draw_v they_o he_o see_v that_o they_o will_v walk_v more_o offensive_o and_o it_o may_v be_v scandalous_o towards_o their_o brother_n and_o dishonour_v the_o profession_n of_o religion_n god_n see_v what_o a_o deal_n of_o do_v and_o stir_v he_o shall_v have_v with_o those_o that_o he_o do_v bring_v in_o to_o himself_o and_o yet_o for_o all_o this_o he_o go_v on_o with_o his_o work_n and_o labour_n with_o the_o heart_n of_o sinner_n notwithstanding_o all_o that_o he_o do_v foresee_v and_o then_o the_o last_o of_o all_o be_v this_o that_o after_o the_o lord_n have_v use_v all_o these_o mean_n to_o bring_v sinner_n to_o come_v in_o and_o break_v their_o heart_n that_o they_o may_v be_v reconcile_v to_o he_o though_o they_o that_o stand_v out_o against_o he_o and_o plead_v and_o weep_v over_o they_o and_o mourn_v yet_o the_o lord_n be_v content_a to_o wait_v and_o yet_o a_o long_a time_n upon_o sinner_n and_o not_o to_o take_v advantage_n against_o they_o for_o their_o reject_v of_o this_o grace_n of_o his_o that_o he_o tender_v to_o they_o that_o scripture_n i_o name_v before_o be_v sufficient_a for_o that_o isa_n 30.18_o and_o therefore_o will_v the_o lord_n wait_v that_o he_o may_v be_v gracious_a oh_o how_o many_o year_n have_v the_o lord_n wait_v upon_o some_o of_o you_o we_o have_v cause_n to_o stand_v and_o admire_v at_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n that_o ever_o he_o will_v once_o offer_v mercy_n to_o we_o that_o after_o so_o many_o offer_v and_o such_o importunity_n to_o prevail_v with_o our_o heart_n and_o we_o froward_o have_v reject_v this_o grace_n that_o now_o god_n shall_v wait_v upon_o we_o to_o heal_v our_o soul_n and_o at_o length_n to_o overcome_v we_o oh_o that_o that_o be_v the_o best_a way_n to_o convey_v true_a save_v grace_n unto_o they_o a_o spirit_n of_o life_n into_o they_o it_o be_v by_o this_o mean_n rather_o than_o by_o other_o the_o lord_n choose_v this_o way_n rather_o than_o other_o you_o have_v receive_v the_o spirit_n say_v paul_n to_o the_o galatian_n and_o how_o have_v you_o receive_v it_o by_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o law_n or_o by_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o gospel_n which_o way_n be_v the_o conveyance_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n to_o you_o be_v it_o by_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o law_n or_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o gospel_n not_o by_o the_o one_o but_o by_o the_o other_o though_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o use_n of_o preach_v the_o law_n yet_o that_o which_o do_v convey_v the_o spirit_n and_o grace_n into_o the_o conscience_n it_o be_v the_o open_v the_o riches_n of_o the_o treasure_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o the_o gospel_n therefore_o this_o objection_n have_v no_o strength_n in_o it_o to_o say_v we_o have_v no_o power_n in_o ourselves_o god_n do_v entreat_v and_o beseech_v because_o by_o this_o mean_v he_o put_v forth_o a_o power_n into_o the_o heart_n of_o those_o he_o do_v intend_v to_o save_v everlasting_o if_o we_o shall_v entreat_v dead_a man_n to_o rise_v it_o be_v a_o folly_n for_o we_o because_o we_o can_v convey_v any_o power_n into_o they_o but_o it_o be_v not_o in_o vain_a for_o god_n because_o he_o be_v able_a while_o he_o be_v entreat_v and_o beseech_v to_o convey_v a_o power_n into_o they_o obj._n but_o you_o say_v in_o the_o second_o place_n what_o need_v the_o lord_n do_v all_o this_o god_n may_v work_v it_o by_o a_o word_n from_o himself_o god_n may_v present_o show_v forth_o his_o almighty_a power_n to_o bring_v in_o sinner_n to_o himself_o he_o need_v not_o stand_v pray_v and_o entreat_v and_o answer_v objection_n bring_v of_o argument_n and_o the_o like_a because_o he_o can_v by_o his_o almighty_a power_n bring_v in_o sinner_n he_o can_v break_v the_o stout_a heart_n that_o live_v upon_o the_o earth_n and_o pull_v down_o the_o proud_a spirit_n and_o therefore_o what_o need_n god_n do_v all_o this_o ans_fw-fr i_o answer_v who_o aâ—t_v thou_o o_o man_n that_o reason_v against_o god_n but_o if_o you_o will_v have_v reason_n there_o be_v many_o to_o be_v give_v first_o because_o god_n have_v to_o work_v with_o a_o rational_a way_n sutiable_a to_o a_o rational_a creature_n now_o that_o way_n be_v this_o first_o that_o the_o understanding_n shall_v be_v enlighten_v and_o the_o heart_n shall_v be_v gain_v and_o wrought_v upon_o they_o know_v what_o it_o do_v it_o shall_v come_v to_o do_v what_o it_o do_v free_o and_o wil_o though_o we_o have_v no_o free_a will_n at_o the_o first_o yet_o when_o we_o do_v embrace_v the_o gospel_n than_o the_o lord_n do_v cause_v the_o heart_n of_o man_n to_o embrace_v it_o wil_o and_o this_o be_v a_o great_a part_n of_o the_o gospel_n of_o god_n to_o show_v himself_o to_o his_o creature_n he_o will_v work_v his_o own_o work_n but_o such_o a_o way_n as_o shall_v be_v suitable_a to_o his_o creature_n again_o if_o the_o lord_n shall_v bring_v in_o sinner_n to_o himself_o by_o his_o almighty_a power_n then_o there_o will_v not_o so_o much_o of_o the_o beauty_n and_o riches_n of_o his_o grace_n appear_v as_o there_o do_v this_o way_n if_o god_n shall_v effectual_o work_v it_o by_o his_o own_o hand_n i_o say_v the_o glory_n of_o his_o grace_n will_v not_o so_o glorious_o shine_v forth_o now_o it_o be_v the_o special_a design_n that_o god_n have_v in_o all_o his_o work_n about_o redemption_n that_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o riches_n of_o his_o grace_n may_v appear_v to_o man_n and_o angel_n that_o they_o may_v magnify_v it_o now_o what_o can_v be_v more_o to_o magnify_v grace_n then_o when_o a_o sinner_n shall_v come_v to_o vieu_o the_o several_a working_n of_o god_n mercy_n towards_o he_o how_o the_o lord_n have_v provide_v a_o way_n of_o reconciliation_n and_o that_o though_o the_o soul_n be_v backward_o and_o hang_v of_o yet_o the_o lord_n still_o follow_v on_o and_o put_v on_o the_o soul_n and_o will_v not_o suffer_v the_o soul_n to_o die_v and_o perish_v in_o the_o sin_n of_o it_o what_o will_v magnify_v grace_n more_o than_o this_o the_o way_n of_o bring_v in_o sinner_n to_o be_v reconcile_v unto_o himself_o will_v be_v a_o principal_a subject_n for_o the_o saint_n to_o be_v blessing_n of_o god_n to_o all_o eternity_n and_o therefore_o you_o christian_n that_o have_v find_v the_o work_n of_o god_n bring_v in_o your_o heart_n to_o himself_o observe_v what_o god_n work_v be_v mark_v the_o several_a way_n of_o god_n work_v with_o your_o soul_n for_o know_v that_o those_o several_a way_n of_o god_n work_v with_o your_o soul_n now_o will_v be_v the_o subject_n of_o your_o eternal_a praise_n in_o heaven_n and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o god_n do_v go_v on_o in_o such_o several_a expression_n that_o the_o riches_n of_o his_o grace_n may_v appear_v the_o more_o full_o yea_o and_o further_o that_o by_o this_o mean_v he_o may_v gain_v the_o heart_n of_o sinner_n everlasting_o to_o himself_o there_o be_v nothing_o will_v gain_v they_o so_o unto_o god_n as_o this_o declaration_n of_o the_o riches_n of_o his_o grace_n in_o the_o gospel_n and_o when_o the_o sinner_n shall_v see_v not_o only_o that_o god_n be_v reconcile_v but_o how_o god_n have_v set_v his_o heart_n upon_o it_o how_o earnest_a god_n have_v be_v in_o it_o this_o will_v engage_v the_o heart_n of_o a_o sinner_n for_o ever_o unto_o god_n and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o those_o sinner_n that_o have_v feel_v most_o of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n bring_v they_o in_o to_o be_v reconcile_v be_v those_o that_o keep_v close_a unto_o god_n as_o for_o hard_o again_o as_o ever_o but_o now_o when_o the_o lord_n come_v with_o the_o beam_n of_o his_o grace_n and_o shine_v upon_o they_o then_o their_o heart_n thaw_v and_o the_o ice_n go_v away_o and_o their_o heart_n come_v in_o flow_v to_o god_n in_o another_o manner_n than_o
when_o he_o come_v by_o his_o stroke_n now_o because_o the_o lord_n see_v that_o this_o be_v such_o a_o way_n to_o engage_v the_o heart_n of_o sinner_n to_o come_v in_o unto_o he_o therefore_o he_o
