mediator_n choose_v beside_o the_o sanction_n of_o his_o holy_a law_n must_v be_v preserve_v private_a person_n may_v forgive_v offence_n as_o they_o please_v but_o the_o just_a and_o holy_a the_o son_n of_o god_n to_o be_v both_o mediator_n and_o surety_n of_o this_o covenant_n i_o do_v not_o say_v that_o there_o be_v a_o necessity_n lay_v either_o upon_o the_o father_n or_o the_o son_n to_o enter_v into_o this_o covenant_n of_o peace_n for_o we_o no_o no_o but_o if_o god_n will_v in_o a_o way_n of_o free_a and_o sovereign_a grace_n enter_v into_o such_o a_o covenant_n for_o mankind_n there_o be_v a_o necessity_n for_o christ_n to_o be_v the_o mediator_n and_o surety_n of_o it_o i_o say_v necessity_n so_o far_o as_o we_o can_v or_o be_v able_a to_o conceive_v in_o respect_n of_o this_o matter_n 1._o because_o god_n have_v not_o reveal_v he_o or_o make_v know_v any_o other_o way_n by_o which_o our_o peace_n can_v be_v make_v but_o by_o a_o mediator_n i_o do_v not_o say_v that_o god_n can_v not_o any_o other_o way_n make_v our_o peace_n but_o that_o he_o can_v not_o in_o regard_n of_o his_o own_o honour_n so_o far_o as_o it_o appear_v unto_o we_o moreover_o if_o god_n have_v not_o make_v know_v any_o other_o way_n than_o there_o be_v no_o other_o way_n for_o we_o to_o obtain_v peace_n with_o he_o but_o no_o other_o way_n be_v make_v know_v 2._o there_o can_v be_v no_o other_o way_n as_o we_o can_v conceive_v because_o the_o breach_n that_o be_v between_o god_n and_o we_o must_v be_v make_v up_o by_o a_o full_a satisfaction_n to_o the_o law_n and_o justice_n of_o god_n god_n be_v just_a as_o well_o as_o gracious_a and_o hence_o one_o end_n why_o christ_n be_v make_v a_o propitiation_n through_o faith_n in_o his_o
be_v able_a not_o only_o to_o bring_v we_o to_o god_n or_o into_o the_o bond_n of_o his_o covenant_n but_o also_o to_o keep_v we_o in_o a_o state_n of_o peace_n so_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o break_v covenant_n with_o god_n any_o more_o for_o ever_o so_o as_o to_o lose_v his_o love_n and_o favour_n and_o as_o jesus_n christ_n have_v power_n to_o do_v this_o so_o he_o also_o in_o this_o covenant_n of_o peace_n engage_v to_o do_v it_o he_o be_v able_a i_o say_v and_o will_v do_v it_o brethren_n shall_v he_o shed_v his_o blood_n to_o make_v our_o peace_n and_o shall_v he_o not_o secure_v that_o peace_n to_o we_o or_o not_o preserve_v we_o in_o a_o state_n of_o peace_n i_o shall_v before_o i_o have_v do_v show_v you_o that_o he_o be_v not_o only_a mediator_n but_o surety_n also_o of_o the_o covenant_n of_o peace_n and_o he_o be_v bind_v or_o oblige_v to_o perform_v all_o these_o thing_n for_o all_o that_o be_v give_v unto_o he_o by_o the_o father_n 1_o and_o he_o will_v lose_v not_o he_o have_v another_o work_n to_o do_v which_o be_v to_o reconcile_v the_o elect_a unto_o god_n some_o man_n intimate_v that_o although_o god_n on_o his_o part_n in_o christ_n be_v reconcile_v yet_o man_n be_v to_o reconcile_v himself_o to_o god_n or_o make_v his_o own_o peace_n as_o well_o as_o he_o can_v book_n and_o that_o he_o be_v to_o enter_v into_o a_o covenant_n himself_o with_o god_n make_v with_o the_o father_n and_o it_o be_v his_o work_n as_o mediator_n to_o bring_v poor_a sinner_n to_o accept_v of_o the_o term_n of_o peace_n agree_v on_o in_o order_n to_o their_o personal_a and_o actual_a interest_n in_o the_o blessing_n of_o the_o say_a covenant_n christ_n must_v change_v the_o sinner_n heart_n by_o the_o infuse_v of_o his_o spirit_n and_o so_o unite_v the_o soul_n to_o shed_v what_o anguish_n do_v he_o feel_v and_o what_o a_o bloody_a agony_n do_v he_o pass_v under_o and_o what_o a_o painful_a und_fw-ge shameful_a death_n do_v he_o die_v and_o also_o what_o opposition_n and_o resistance_n scorn_v and_o contempt_n do_v he_o daily_o still_o meet_v with_o from_o sinner_n oh_o how_o averse_a be_v man_n to_o accept_v of_o peace_n and_o reconciliation_n with_o god_n by_o christ_n some_o contemn_v his_o blood_n render_v it_o as_o a_o empty_a and_o carnal_a thing_n and_o think_v to_o obtain_v peace_n by_o another_o christ_n a_o christ_n within_o even_o by_o the_o law_n or_o light_n in_o their_o heart_n other_o by_o a_o new_a law_n or_o by_o their_o faith_n and_o sincere_a obedience_n moreover_o some_o value_n the_o league_n they_o have_v make_v with_o sin_n hell_n and_o death_n and_o will_v not_o nullify_v that_o but_o esteem_v that_o covenant_n before_o and_o above_o this_o covenant_n of_o peace_n make_v between_o the_o father_n and_o son_n and_o confirm_v by_o christ_n blood_n but_o i_o can_v proceed_v no_o further_o at_o this_o time_n sermon_n iii_o further_n open_v the_o work_n of_o christ_n as_o mediator_n together_o with_o the_o exercise_n of_o his_o office_n as_o king_n priest_n prophet_n surety_n testator_n etc._n etc._n isa._n liv._o x._o neither_o shall_v the_o covenant_n of_o my_o peace_n be_v remove_v say_v the_o lord_n
