i_o examine_v myself_o touch_n my_o preparation_n for_o the_o solemn_a worship_n of_o god_n that_o day_n and_o if_o any_o thing_n in_o my_o preparatory_a devotion_n be_v want_v any_o sin_n unconfess_v yet_o if_o we_o use_v that_o liberty_n only_o thus_o so_o as_o free_o and_o of_o our_o own_o accord_n to_o prefer_v the_o prayer_n of_o the_o church_n i_o real_o judge_v general_o it_o will_v be_v the_o best_a some_o particular_a case_n there_o may_v be_v as_o when_o any_o great_a judgement_n lie_v upon_o a_o family_n or_o the_o like_a which_o may_v be_v admit_v as_o exception_n to_o the_o general_a rule_n and_o in_o which_o case_n it_o may_v be_v expedient_a to_o use_v either_o other_o or_o more_o prayer_n than_o those_o extant_a in_o our_o church_n liturgy_n the_o general_a course_n self_n the_o same_o care_n be_o i_o to_o have_v of_o my_o thought_n seasonable_a it_o will_v be_v to_o think_v of_o the_o happiness_n which_o i_o enjoy_v in_o that_o i_o come_v into_o the_o court_n of_o god_n and_o feed_v upon_o the_o fat_a thing_n of_o his_o house_n and_o to_o praise_n god_n in_o my_o heart_n that_o i_o have_v such_o freedom_n of_o access_n unto_o he_o in_o which_o case_n many_o happy_a and_o proper_a ejaculation_n may_v i_o furnish_v myself_o with_o out_o of_o holy_a david_n psalm_n sect._n 5._o of_o due_a behaviour_n in_o the_o church_n be_v come_v to_o the_o place_n which_o be_v holy_a to_o god_n worship_n i_o enter_v it_o with_o all_o reverence_n bare_a if_o my_o sex_n so_o require_v remember_v that_o though_o god_n be_v present_v every_o where_o yet_o be_v he_o more_o special_o in_o the_o place_n where_o his_o people_n be_v worship_v he_o and_o any_o posture_n of_o reverence_n that_o i_o use_v there_o be_v act_n of_o worship_n unto_o his_o unseen_a but_o to_o myself_o by_o some_o other_o exercise_n it_o may_v be_v proper_a therefore_o to_o spend_v and_o hour_n in_o the_o read_n some_o honest_a practical_a book_n which_o treat_v several_o of_o those_o duty_n which_o we_o owe_v both_o to_o god_n other_o and_o ourselves_o to_o wit_n upon_o that_o particular_a book_n which_o know_v to_o be_v very_o good_a i_o have_v choose_v and_o single_v out_o to_o myself_o to_o read_v and_o practice_n such_o as_o be_v the_o never_o enough_o commend_v doctor_n hammond_n practical_a catechism_n or_o if_o that_o seem_v to_o any_o too_o difficult_a that_o excellent_a book_n the_o whole_a duty_n ●f_n man._n and_o in_o read_v hereof_o i_o must_v endeavour_v to_o read_v first_o with_o understanding_n so_o that_o it_o be_v not_o so_o much_o the_o repeat_n to_o myself_o the_o word_n as_o consider_v and_o digest_v the_o substance_n of_o they_o which_o i_o must_v account_v read_v of_o they_o i_o must_v therefore_o read_v and_o study_v the_o book_n as_o scholar_n do_v their_o book_n and_o if_o there_o be_v any_o material_a thing_n which_o i_o do_v not_o understand_v mark_v it_o so_o that_o i_o may_v inform_v myself_o by_o advise_v with_o some_o more_o able_a person_n than_o myself_o second_o i_o must_v read_v all_o with_o application_n to_o myself_o remember_v that_o all_o this_o concern_v i_o and_o endeavour_v to_o see_v how_o it_o concern_v i_o whether_o i_o perform_v the_o duty_n i_o read_v of_o as_o i_o shall_v or_o how_o i_o neglect_v it_o etc._n etc._n by_o this_o mean_n take_v upon_o every_o of_o my_o fast_a day_n a_o part_n my_o book_n will_v in_o convenient_a season_n be_v read_v over_o which_o when_o it_o be_v it_o must_v not_o be_v throw_v aside_o but_o read_v through_o again_o and_o again_o with_o the_o same_o diligence_n till_o i_o be_o perfect_a in_o it_o nor_o ought_v the_o three_o or_o four_o read_v of_o a_o good_a profitable_a and_o practical_a treatise_n to_o be_v tedious_a or_o unpleasant_a to_o i_o for_o that_o christian_a duty_n
