sort_n first_o there_o be_v a_o supreme_a bond_n of_o conscience_n and_o that_o be_v god_n word_n of_o which_o i_o have_v already_o speak_v second_o there_o be_v a_o relative_a bond_n of_o conscience_n which_o bind_v conscience_n indeed_o but_o it_o be_v only_o in_o relation_n to_o god_n word_n because_o god_n word_n put_v authority_n upon_o it_o and_o this_o latter_a be_v also_o of_o two_o sort_n 1._o other_o may_v bind_v conscience_n 2._o we_o ourselves_o may_v bind_v our_o own_o conscience_n 1._o other_o may_v bind_v our_o conscience_n 1._o other_o may_v bind_v our_o conscience_n namely_o when_o they_o have_v authority_n confer_v upon_o they_o from_o god_n and_o so_o their_o law_n and_o command_n receive_v vigour_n and_o force_n from_o god_n law_n thus_o the_o law_n and_o command_n of_o magistrate_n bind_v the_o conscience_n of_o people_n of_o parent_n bind_v the_o conscience_n of_o child_n of_o master_n bind_v the_o conscience_n of_o servant_n for_o to_o bind_v conscience_n vers_fw-la 5._o wherefore_o we_o must_v be_v subject_a not_o only_o because_o of_o wrath_n but_o also_o for_o conscience_n sake_n and_o the_o violate_v of_o they_o be_v sin_n when_o their_o authority_n be_v confirm_v by_o god_n we_o can_v resist_v they_o but_o we_o resist_v the_o ordinance_n of_o god_n say_v the_o apostle_n nay_o we_o may_v pull_v condemnation_n upon_o those_o that_o be_v in_o authority_n lose_v their_o power_n of_o bind_v the_o conscience_n in_o four_o case_n 1._o when_o they_o command_v that_o which_o though_o in_o itself_o it_o be_v not_o simple_o and_o absolute_o sinful_a and_o unlawful_a yet_o it_o do_v put_v we_o upon_o a_o necessity_n of_o sin_v as_o for_o example_n if_o a_o magistrate_n command_v single_a life_n to_o all_o unlawful_a yet_o the_o commandment_n be_v simple_o unlawful_a and_o do_v not_o bind_v conscience_n the_o apostle_n make_v such_o a_o commandment_n to_o argue_v a_o sear_a conscience_n in_o the_o commander_n and_o therefore_o none_o but_o a_o sear_a conscience_n can_v think_v it_o be_v bind_v by_o it_o 1._o tim._n 4.2_o 3._o 2._o the_o commandment_n of_o magistrate_n lose_v their_o power_n between_o these_o two_o consideration_n as_o there_o be_v a_o great_a difference_n between_o a_o man_n have_v a_o sword_n and_o a_o man_n wear_v a_o sword_n the_o magistrate_n may_v restrain_v a_o man_n from_o wear_v a_o sword_n at_o such_o or_o such_o a_o time_n though_o he_o do_v not_o take_v his_o sword_n from_o he_o so_o there_o be_v difference_n between_o the_o have_v our_o liberty_n and_o the_o use_v our_o liberty_n there_o be_v a_o liberty_n purchase_v for_o god_n child_n whereby_o all_o thing_n be_v become_v lawful_a unto_o they_o all_o thing_n be_v lawful_a unto_o i_o 14.14_o say_v himself_o to_o be_v a_o hypocrite_n his_o conscience_n can_v never_o condemn_v he_o for_o be_v one_o and_o therefore_o both_o these_o knowledge_n be_v necessary_a as_o well_o the_o knowledge_n of_o a_o man_n self_n as_o of_o god_n law_n many_o who_o have_v a_o hand_n in_o crucify_a our_o saviour_n sin_v grievous_o yet_o they_o sin_v not_o against_o knowledge_n because_o they_o know_v not_o what_o they_o do_v father_n forgive_v they_o 23.34_o they_o know_v not_o what_o they_o do_v three_o it_o be_v a_o contradiction_n to_o say_v a_o blind_a conscience_n in_o act_n the_o conscience_n can_v be_v blind_a and_o yet_o actual_o condemn_v indeed_o the_o conscience_n itself_o may_v be_v blind_a but_o it_o can_v never_o act_v and_o be_v blind_a if_o it_o true_o accuse_v or_o excuse_v it_o must_v have_v some_o light_n it_o be_v true_a it_o may_v erroneous_o excuse_v or_o accuse_v and_o yet_o have_v no_o true_a light_n seem_v light_n be_v enough_o to_o do_v that_o seem_v knowledge_n be_v enough_o to_o make_v conscience_n erroneous_o excuse_v as_o they_o who_o kill_v the_o apostle_n 16.2_o their_o conscience_n excuse_v they_o and_o tell_v they_o they_o do_v god_n good_a service_n they_o seem_v to_o know_v it_o be_v good_a service_n to_o god_n and_o therefore_o their_o conscience_n excuse_v they_o etc._n etc._n thus_o you_o see_v that_o the_o light_a that_o conscience_n work_v by_o be_v knowledge_n the_o use_n of_o this_o point_n be_v first_o 1_o to_o let_v we_o see_v the_o infinite_a necessity_n of_o knowledge_n as_o good_a have_v no_o conscience_n at_o all_o as_o conscience_n without_o knowledge_n for_o it_o can_v act_v and_o perform_v its_o office_n this_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o so_o many_o thousand_o go_v on_o in_o their_o sin_n without_o repentance_n their_o witness_n be_v not_o so_o uncontrollable_a as_o conscience_n be_v there_o be_v no_o appeal_n from_o the_o witness_n of_o conscience_n we_o must_v â—e_v try_v by_o it_o if_o conscience_n do_v not_o or_o will_v not_o accuse_v but_o conscience_n spare_v none_o no_o not_o itself_o though_o its_o accusation_n do_v load_n and_o burden_n and_o torment_v itself_o yet_o it_o will_v do_v its_o office_n 3._o conscience_n also_o be_v faithful_a in_o its_o office_n and_o sincere_a it_o always_o speak_v of_o we_o as_o it_o think_v it_o may_v be_v deceive_v and_o mistake_v for_o a_o time_n but_o it_o never_o speak_v contrary_a to_o what_o it_o think_v it_o be_v a_o faithful_a and_o sincere_a witness_n of_o our_o thought_n word_n action_n and_o course_n whether_o they_o be_v good_a or_o evil_n so_o far_o as_o it_o be_v enlighten_v by_o god_n word_n it_o ever_o give_v evidence_n aright_o it_o never_o flatter_v nor_o condemn_v any_o without_o a_o cause_n it_o be_v a_o faithful_a and_o a_o very_a upright_a witness_n other_o may_v dissemble_v with_o we_o and_o commend_v we_o and_o applaud_v we_o when_o we_o be_v naught_o and_o call_v we_o good_a man_n and_o good_a woman_n when_o we_o be_v nothing_o so_o but_o this_o will_v tell_v we_o plain_o how_o vile_a and_o sinful_a we_o be_v and_o if_o we_o say_v we_o be_v good_a when_o we_o be_v not_o it_o will_v tell_v we_o plain_o we_o lie_v 2.4_o he_o that_o say_v i_o know_v he_o and_o keep_v not_o his_o commandment_n be_v a_o liar_n mark_v though_o he_o say_v it_o yet_o his_o conscience_n give_v he_o the_o lie_n it_o be_v
