because_o he_o have_v bear_v record_n of_o he_o which_o shall_v come_v forth_o so_o magnificent_o with_o teach_v &_o sign_n they_o may_v not_o doubt_v in_o a_o evident_a matter_n but_o what_o do_v they_o they_o hear_v john_n but_o they_o think_v not_o his_o authority_n sufficient_a for_o as_o they_o behead_v john_n so_o they_o crucify_v christ_n as_o touch_v who_o johns_n witness_n be_v so_o faithful_a such_o regard_n of_o godliness_n have_v they_o that_o they_o only_o despise_v not_o the_o word_n of_o god_n but_o for_o that_o also_o kill_v the_o prophet_n and_o nail_v on_o the_o cross_n also_o in_o his_o member_n we_o labour_v all_o that_o we_o can_v with_o john_n to_o bring_v man_n into_o this_o way_n for_o as_o much_o as_o without_o christ_n there_o be_v no_o remission_n of_o sin_n or_o life_n everlasting_a but_o the_o more_o we_o go_v about_o to_o withdraw_v man_n trust_n from_o their_o oune_n work_v as_o unprofitable_a to_o righteousness_n in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n god_n and_o to_o lead_v they_o to_o christ_n so_o much_o the_o more_o grevous_o be_v we_o condemn_v as_o heretic_n of_o our_o adversary_n for_o that_o be_v not_o agreeable_a with_o their_o doctrine_n as_o all_o do_v know_v they_o set_v forth_o the_o mounkes_n rule_v and_o mass_n with_o ostentation_n they_o offer_v up_o mass_n for_o the_o dead_a they_o ordain_v service_n they_o go_v a_o pilgrimage_n they_o buy_v pardon_n but_o what_o other_o thing_n be_v this_o then_o to_o cast_v away_o christ_n and_o search_v out_o new_a way_n to_o heaven_n and_o we_o can_v allow_v this_o by_o no_o mean_n and_o therefore_o can_v they_o not_o abstain_v from_o rail_v and_o slander_v of_o us._n the_o bishop_n and_o high_a priest_n will_v deal_v likewise_o with_o we_o as_o they_o do_v with_o the_o jew_n if_o they_o can_v only_o this_o be_v lack_v unto_o they_o that_o they_o can_v not_o abuse_v we_o at_o their_o pleasure_n but_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n they_o be_v so_o grevous_o offend_v with_o we_o sure_o no_o other_o but_o that_o we_o teach_v with_o john_n to_o geve_v the_o glory_n to_o god_n and_o to_o humble_v themselves_o before_o christ_n and_o judge_v themselves_o unworthy_a with_o all_o their_o service_n and_o good_a work_n to_o wipe_v such_o a_o great_a man_n shoe_n for_o they_o can_v not_o choose_v but_o grant_v this_o that_o john_n be_v more_o holy_a than_o all_o they_o can_v be_v and_o yet_o he_o say_v i_o will_v cast_v away_o all_o this_o holiness_n if_o i_o may_v but_o be_v receive_v only_o into_o the_o fellowship_n of_o his_o grace_n to_o have_v the_o oversight_n of_o his_o shoe_n i_o will_v think_v myself_o a_o honourable_a man_n this_o do_v we_o therefore_o testify_v and_o protest_v before_o the_o world_n the_o pope_n the_o bishop_n priest_n and_o mounkes_n that_o be_v their_o righteousness_n and_o holiness_n never_o so_o much_o yet_o in_o this_o point_n they_o be_v nothing_o to_o be_v compare_v with_o john_n wherefore_o if_o you_o do_v all_o that_o you_o can_v by_o persuade_v so_o to_o do_v they_o cry_v out_o upon_o we_o like_o mad_a man_n say_v not_o only_o
to_o this_o point_n that_o covetousness_n may_v be_v repress_v and_o the_o true_a use_n of_o worldly_a good_n receive_v and_o that_o friend_n may_v be_v make_v by_o that_o which_o god_n geve_v we_o that_o when_o we_o die_v and_o have_v nothing_o leafte_o but_o leave_v all_o thing_n behind_o we_o we_o may_v find_v friend_n to_o receive_v we_o into_o the_o everlasting_a tabernacle_n for_o whatsoever_o benefit_n we_o bestow_v here_o on_o the_o poor_a the_o same_o in_o the_o last_o day_n shall_v not_o only_o bear_v record_n for_o we_o that_o we_o have_v show_v christian_a charity_n but_o it_o shall_v be_v also_o abundantlye_o recompense_v then_o shall_v the_o poor_a come_v forth_o with_o diverse_a witness_n one_o shall_v say_v that_o he_o be_v holpen_v with_o a_o coat_n a_o other_o with_o money_n a_o other_o with_o bread_n a_o other_o with_o house_n room_n and_o harborow_n yea_o as_o it_o be_v write_v in_o the_o gospel_n christ_n himself_o shall_v come_v forth_o and_o declare_v before_o his_o heavenly_a father_n the_o glorious_a angel_n and_o all_o the_o bless_a saint_n what_o good_a we_o ourselves_o have_v do_v and_o how_o we_o have_v declare_v our_o faith_n to_o be_v true_a and_o unfeigned_a by_o doyinge_v those_o good_a work_n we_o shall_v have_v help_n of_o our_o friend_n and_o they_o shall_v promote_v we_o to_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n when_o we_o fail_v here_o and_o leave_v all_o that_o ever_o we_o have_v behind_o us._n he_o that_o will_v believe_v this_o doctrine_n unprofitable_a will_v sure_o distribute_v his_o money_n and_o richesse_n liberal_o to_o the_o poor_a that_o can_v not_o get_v their_o own_o lyvinge_n and_o so_o shall_v they_o make_v of_o the_o mammon_n of_o unrighteousness_n the_o mammon_n of_o righteousness_n for_o he_o will_v avoid_v the_o abuse_n &_o follow_v the_o true_a use_n for_o this_o be_v not_o agreeable_a with_o christian_a manner_n for_o a_o man_n to_o abuse_v his_o good_n &_o richesse_n prodigal_o wasteful_o &_o riotous_o in_o excess_n of_o apparel_n in_o gorgeous_a building_n in_o delicate_a fare_v in_o folishe_a pastime_n in_o wicked_a play_n and_o sport_n etc._n etc._n as_o the_o manner_n of_o man_n be_v now_o a_o day_n both_o in_o city_n town_n &_o village_n for_o this_o be_v their_o say_n be_v not_o my_o good_n mine_v own_o may_v i_o not_o spend_v they_o as_o i_o lust_n my_o provision_n be_v for_o myself_o if_o thou_o have_v need_n of_o ought_v get_v it_o where_o thou_o may_v i_o have_v none_o that_o i_o can_v spare_v all_o that_o ever_o i_o have_v be_v little_a enough_o for_o i_o and_o i_o poor_a this_o be_v the_o mammon_n of_o unrighteousness_n because_o it_o serve_v in_o this_o case_n to_o wickedness_n &_o yet_o may_v the_o use_v thereof_o be_v both_o good_a and_o godly_a yea_o and_o right_o acceptable_a to_o god_n if_o it_o be_v bestow_v on_o our_o poor_a neighbour_n but_o consider_v this_o with_o thyself_o if_o they_o have_v the_o mammon_n of_o unrighteousness_n that_o will_v forgo_v nothing_o thereof_o to_o the_o use_n of_o the_o poor_a and_o needy_a how_o much_o more_o may_v their_o good_n be_v call_v the_o mammon_n of_o unrighteousness_n which_o get_v all_o that_o ever_o they_o have_v with_o theft_n general_o deceit_n craft_n subtlety_n extortion_n etc._n etc._n as_o almost_o all_o craft_n man_n merchant_n broker_n usurer_n and_o such_o like_v daily_o do_v both_o in_o byinge_v &_o sell_v in_o chap_a and_o change_v in_o bargain_n make_v the_o scotfree_a oppress_v the_o poor_a &_o the_o hireling_n through_o their_o unfaithfulnes_n pay_v they_o home_o again_o these_o shall_v not_o only_o come_v without_o friend_n poor_a but_o they_o shall_v be_v accompany_v also_o with_o many_o enemy_n which_o shall_v accuse_v they_o before_o the_o judgement_n seat_n of_o god_n such_o as_o in_o this_o world_n be_v unjust_o oppress_v and_o dare_v not_o so_o much_o as_o one_o hiss_v against_o those_o rich_a &_o unmerciful_a worldlyng_n but_o crouch_v unto_o they_o salute_v they_o with_o honourable_a name_n and_o put_v of_o their_o cap_n unto_o they_o shall_v at_o the_o great_a day_n of_o judgement_n bold_o say_v to_o the_o high_a judge_n christ_n lord_n we_o be_v in_o great_a penury_n &_o this_o man_n have_v exceed_o great_a plenty_n of_o all_o thing_n howbeit_o of_o his_o so_o large_a abundance_n he_o socour_v we_o nothing_o at_o all_o &_o if_o we_o buy_v any_o thing_n of_o he_o we_o give_v he_o much_o more_o than_o it_o be_v worth_a and_o by_o his_o evil_a example_n other_o do_v the_o like_a some_o do_v hire_v out_o their_o house_n at_o the_o great_a price_n some_o utter_v their_o victual_n the_o dear_a some_o sell_v their_o merchandise_n and_o ware_n at_o such_o excessive_a price_n that_o we_o can_v not_o by_o they_o for_o our_o necessary_a use_n so_o that_o many_o of_o we_o fall_v into_o extreme_a necessity_n some_o most_o miserable_o die_v for_o lack_n of_o sustenance_n these_o shall_v be_v in_o the_o day_n the_o complaint_n not_o only_o of_o man_n but_o also_o of_o christ_n against_o covetous_a man_n and_o they_o shall_v accuse_v they_o of_o their_o wicked_a mammon_n 25._o but_o how_o shall_v the_o matter_n go_v then_o what_o sentence_n shall_v then_o be_v pronounce_v to_o those_o unmerciful_a people_n uery_o even_o this-get_a you_o hence_o you_o curse_v into_o everlasting_a fire_n which_o be_v prepare_v for_o the_o devil_n and_o for_o his_o angel_n i_o have_v be_v hongrye_a and_o you_o give_v i_o no_o meat_n i_o have_v be_v thirsty_a and_o you_o give_v i_o no_o dryncke_n 2._o etc._n etc._n the_o judgement_n say_v saint_n james_n shall_v be_v without_o mercy_n to_o he_o that_o have_v show_v no_o mercy_n for_o if_o they_o shall_v not_o escape_v unpunished_a that_o will_v geve_v nothing_o to_o other_o what_o shall_v be_v do_v to_o they_o think_v you_o that_o have_v do_v hurt_v and_o wrong_v to_o other_o regard_v nothing_o but_o their_o own_o gain_n commodity_n and_o profit_n howsoever_o they_o come_v be_v it_o and_o yet_o persuade_v themselves_o that_o they_o do_v no_o wrong_n this_o sermon_n therefore_o be_v against_o covetousness_n teach_v that_o a_o christian_a man_n ought_v not_o man_n do_v nothing_o all_o their_o life_n time_n but_o scrape_v together_o all_o that_o they_o can_v and_o enlarge_v their_o possession_n either_o by_o hook_n or_o by_o crook_n by_o right_a or_o by_o wrong_n they_o care_v not_o how_o we_o have_v great_a need_n of_o their_o help_n but_o nothing_o will_v they_o geve_v we_o no_o scarce_o wood_n they_o afford_v we_o a_o good_a word_n much_o less_o will_v they_o succour_v we_o with_o their_o money_n such_o a_o prosopopaeian_a or_o personal_a action_n do_v christ_n imagine_v in_o this_o place_n where_o he_o describe_v the_o matter_n as_o it_o be_v in_o do_v how_o the_o poor_a saint_n shall_v be_v about_o the_o lord_n christ_n and_o put_v forth_o their_o cause_n against_o the_o unrighteous_a and_o niggardly_a scotfree_a man_n but_o the_o scotfree_a man_n that_o have_v use_v their_o good_n well_o and_o have_v frendelye_o give_v to_o other_o shall_v be_v in_o great_a honour_n and_o shall_v find_v many_o friend_n and_o special_o christ_n which_o shall_v declare_v set_v forth_o celebrate_v praise_n and_o magnify_v their_o benefit_n and_o good_a dede_n all_o these_o thing_n do_v christ_n set_v forth_o here_o to_o this_o end_n faith_n that_o we_o shall_v earnest_o and_o studious_o embrace_v godliness_n declare_v our_o faith_n by_o good_a work_n and_o thereby_o have_v wytness_n of_o our_o faith_n before_o god_n at_o the_o last_o day_n that_o we_o be_v not_o give_v to_o the_o vice_n of_o covetousness_n which_o be_v most_o shameful_a most_o filthy_a and_o must_v abominable_a and_o nothing_o else_o but_o idle_a service_n 5._o who_o nature_n and_o property_n be_v only_o to_o get_v to_o scratte_n together_o hourde_v up_o nothing_o regard_v covetousness_n what_o become_v of_o other_o man_n syncke_v they_o swim_v they_o as_o that_o this_o death_n be_v avaylable_a for_o thy_o sin_n for_o the_o word_n of_o absolution_n be_v these_o brother_n i_o all_o we_o be_v sinner_n absolution_n and_o therefore_o all_o shall_v abide_v and_o sustain_v damnation_n but_o the_o son_n of_o god_n be_v become_v man_n for_o our_o sake_n and_o die_v also_o and_o rise_v again_o from_o the_o dead_a for_o our_o justification_n 4._o despair_v consider_v this_o say_n and_o that_o we_o be_v not_o free_a from_o that_o thing_n which_o do_v so_o great_o hinder_v the_o understand_v of_o the_o disciple_n for_o when_o tentation_n be_v at_o hand_n and_o the_o most_o ignominious_a and_o spiteful_a death_n of_o christ_n trouble_v all_o their_o wit_n they_o can_v not_o then_o consider_v what_o this_o little_a while_n mean_v but_o their_o heart_n be_v so_o astony_v that_o they_o think_v christ_n to_o be_v utter_o undo_v &_o that_o they_o short_o after_o shall_v also_o come_v to_o that_o point_n and_o for_o christ_n sake_n be_v in_o like_a manner_n most_o miserable_o handle_v but_o that_o this_o their_o sorrow_n and_o tentation_n shall_v not_o continue_v past_o two_o or_o three_o day_n when_o the_o lord_n christ_n shall_v rise_v again_o from_o death_n unto_o a_o everlasting_a life_n and_o help_v they_o here_o in_o this_o world_n against_o the_o world_n devil_n sin_n and_o death_n and_o at_o the_o last_o geve_v they_o a_o most_o joyful_a and_o everlasting_a life_n in_o the_o world_n to_o come_v that_o understode_v they_o not_o neither_o though_o they_o it_o possible_a therefore_o s._n john_n afterward_o in_o his_o gospel_n not_o be_v persuade_v by_o any_o mean_n that_o this_o trouble_n will_v continue_v but_o a_o little_a while_n 4._o and_o that_o god_n in_o his_o time_n will_v geve_v a_o fortunate_a and_o joyful_a end_n to_o these_o our_o evilles_n and_o misery_n and_o by_o this_o mean_n be_v we_o in_o tentation_n clean_o out_o of_o courage_n and_o utter_o dismay_v fall_a to_o lamenting_a and_o wepinge_v as_o though_o there_o be_v no_o god_n that_o will_v help_v we_o 5._o or_o have_v any_o regard_n unto_o we_o when_o not_o withstand_v the_o bless_a apostle_n s._n paul_n command_v we_o to_o joy_n and_o rejoice_v in_o trouble_n not_o only_o for_o the_o assure_a deliverance_n which_o must_v needs_o chance_v to_o the_o faithful_a 8._o but_o also_o because_o that_o by_o the_o cross_n and_o trouble_v a_o most_o certain_a and_o sure_a trial_n be_v make_v whereby_o we_o know_v that_o we_o be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o heir_n of_o everla_a life_n as_o we_o shall_v more_o at_o large_a declare_v hereafter_o this_o gospel_n therefore_o contain_v a_o most_o noble_a and_o notable_a doctrine_n of_o conforte_n remember_v not_o only_o for_o the_o disciple_n of_o christ_n but_o also_o for_o all_o christian_n that_o in_o tentation_n and_o affliction_n they_o shall_v ever_o have_v before_o their_o eye_n and_o remember_v this_o a_o little_a while_n and_o diligent_o consider_v that_o although_o reason_n and_o man_n wytt_n can_v not_o see_v how_o deliveraunce_n may_v come_v yet_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o be_v leave_v succourless_a in_o those_o our_o evilles_n not_o without_o help_n and_o comfort_n but_o that_o they_o shall_v short_o have_v a_o end_n &_o again_o that_o in_o stead_n of_o they_o joy_n and_o gladness_n shall_v come_v and_o continual_o abide_v with_o us._n and_o that_o whole_a judgement_n in_o this_o behalf_n unto_o the_o word_n of_o god_n for_o if_o we_o judge_v these_o thing_n without_o the_o word_n our_o judgement_n shall_v be_v false_a and_o nothing_o to_o the_o purpose_n but_o what_o say_v the_o word_n first_o of_o all_o it_o say_v that_o not_o somuche_o as_o a_o hear_v of_o our_o head_n shall_v fall_v to_o the_o ground_n without_o the_o will_n of_o god_n cross_n of_o this_o word_n than_o this_o follow_v 12._o that_o although_o the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o devil_n and_o the_o world_n be_v a_o mighty_a and_o strong_a kingdom_n yet_o that_o it_o can_v do_v
