the_o other_o a_o seat_n of_o judgement_n a_o tribunal_n fie_o on_o all_o tribunal_n in_o the_o earth_n in_o respect_n of_o that_o heavenly_a tribunal_n the_o throne_n of_o grace_n be_v speak_v of_o sin_n yet_o when_o god_n waken_v they_o we_o will_v see_v sin_n in_o the_o own_o colour_n and_o find_v the_o ugliness_n and_o guiltiness_n thereof_o our_o sin_n will_v come_v in_o and_o stand_v up_o as_o mountain_n and_o will_v hide_v the_o bless_a face_n and_o presence_n of_o god_n from_o thou_o sin_n go_v betwixt_o we_o and_o god_n and_o separate_v we_o from_o god._n the_o saint_n find_v in_o experience_n that_o it_o be_v not_o a_o easy_a thing_n to_o find_v a_o familiar_a access_n to_o god_n in_o prayer_n except_o our_o conscience_n first_o be_v purge_v we_o can_v have_v none_o access_n evil_a conscience_n no_o flesh_n can_v have_v a_o favourable_a access_n to_o god_n except_o his_o conscience_n be_v first_o purge_v from_o guiltiness_n yea_o that_o which_o we_o speak_v of_o the_o find_v he_o as_o a_o terrible_a judge_n compass_v about_o with_o burn_a wrath_n ready_a to_o destroy_v thou_o and_o if_o he_o mark_v thou_o thou_o have_v no_o stand_n and_o if_o thou_o appear_v not_o clothe_v with_o the_o righteousness_n and_o perfect_a satisfaction_n that_o jesus_n through_o his_o blood_n have_v purchase_v for_o thou_o thou_o dare_v not_o presume_v to_o approach_v for_o then_o his_o fierce_a wrath_n shall_v be_v pour_v out_o upon_o thou_o further_o we_o learn_v hereof_o that_o when_o ever_o we_o will_v have_v our_o prayer_n accept_v we_o shall_v begin_v with_o a_o humble_a confession_n of_o our_o sin_n and_o unworthiness_n and_o with_o a_o earnest_a prayer_n to_o forgive_v the_o same_o yea_o we_o must_v aggreadge_v our_o sin_n by_o all_o circumstance_n as_o the_o claim_v to_o thy_o mercy_n so_o when_o a_o man_n desire_v his_o prayer_n to_o be_v hear_v he_o must_v first_o have_v a_o sight_n of_o his_o own_o misery_n guiltiness_n and_o unworthiness_n and_o of_o the_o fierceness_n of_o the_o lord_n wrath_n for_o the_o same_o and_o in_o all_o humility_n he_o must_v confess_v the_o same_o next_o he_o must_v have_v a_o sight_n of_o the_o lord_n mercy_n and_o hope_v that_o it_o be_v possible_a that_o god_n be_v reconcile_v with_o he_o except_o that_o these_o two_o be_v join_v together_o he_o come_v not_o du_o prepare_v the_o one_o without_o the_o other_o will_v not_o serve_v both_o be_v necessary_a for_o without_o the_o knowledge_n sight_n and_o feel_v of_o our_o misery_n of_o sin_n and_o of_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n for_o the_o same_o we_o will_v never_o be_v earnest_a in_o prayer_n who_o will_v ask_v except_o he_o find_v his_o want_n and_o without_o a_o humble_a confession_n there_o be_v no_o come_n before_o god_n thou_o must_v not_o do_v as_o the_o pharisee_n do_v read_v that_o parable_n of_o the_o pharisee_n and_o of_o the_o publican_n luke_n 18._o the_o pharisee_n be_v so_o blind_v with_o self-love_n that_o he_o can_v not_o see_v the_o filthiness_n and_o corruption_n of_o his_o own_o heart_n and_o therefore_o not_o only_o in_o the_o presence_n of_o man_n who_o he_o may_v deceive_v will_v he_o justify_v himself_o but_o also_o in_o the_o very_a presence_n of_o god_n who_o can_v be_v deceive_v &_o who_o search_v the_o heart_n he_o will_v boast_v of_o his_o own_o righteousness_n and_o condemn_v the_o poor_a publican_n but_o forward_o with_o the_o disciple_n and_o let_v she_o follow_v on_o cry_v o_o lord_n have_v mercy_n upon_o i_o not_o once_o nor_o twice_o but_o the_o cry_n go_v never_o out_o of_o her_o head_n this_o majesty_n of_o god_n contramanding_a where_o he_o have_v command_v therefore_o such_o person_n can_v allege_v that_o the_o lord_n have_v count_v they_o faithful_a and_o man_n can_v say_v that_o they_o be_v set_v into_o these_o office_n by_o god_n hand_n but_o as_o it_o be_v by_o satan_n therefore_o to_o the_o end_n that_o thou_o may_v know_v whether_o y_fw-mi e_z lord_n count_v thou_o faithful_a or_o not_o look_v and_o see_v that_o thou_o have_v these_o sign_n &_o testimony_n which_o may_v bear_v witness_n that_o the_o lord_n have_v call_v thou_o it_o be_v true_a man_n now_o adays_o can_v be_v into_o whether_o private_a or_o public_a whether_o the_o lord_n account_v more_o of_o thou_o than_o thou_o be_v worthy_a whether_o he_o account_v thou_o faithful_a or_o not_o look_v to_o the_o mark_n sign_n and_o token_n of_o a_o true_a christian_a if_o thou_o find_v they_o in_o thou_o as_o namely_o whether_o thou_o have_v a_o pleasure_n in_o body_n and_o soul_n through_o infirmity_n to_o serve_v
the_o lord_n to_o be_v exercise_v in_o the_o mean_n of_o grace_n in_o preach_v prayer_n read_v conference_n etc._n etc._n look_v if_o thou_o have_v a_o pleasure_n to_o approve_v thyself_o in_o all_o thing_n to_o thy_o lord_n and_o master_n look_v if_o thou_o have_v a_o care_n to_o further_a other_o in_o the_o course_n of_o christianity_n and_o way_n of_o repentance_n then_o if_o thou_o have_v these_o token_n thou_o may_v rejoice_v then_o he_o go_v forward_o &_o he_o can_v sufficient_o set_v out_o that_o mercy_n which_o he_o find_v he_o know_v not_o how_o nor_o in_o what_o term_n to_o utter_v &_o proclaim_v it_o if_o we_o can_v find_v that_o mercy_n of_o jesus_n we_o will_v see_v that_o the_o heart_n will_v never_o satisfy_v itself_o with_o think_v of_o it_o or_o the_o mouth_n look_v if_o he_o think_v much_o of_o himself_o he_o be_v one_o of_o the_o cruel_a persecuter_n that_o ever_o be_v in_o the_o church_n he_o be_v in_o a_o rage_n against_o christ_n behold_v brethren_n paul_n be_v not_o ashamed_a to_o paint_v out_o himself_o in_o his_o own_o colour_n and_o particular_o to_o confess_v his_o former_a evil_a deed_n and_o to_o registrate_n they_o to_o his_o own_o shame_n to_o the_o world_n end_n yea_o you_o shall_v see_v in_o sundry_a place_n where_o he_o speak_v of_o himself_o that_o he_o can_v never_o satisfy_v himself_o in_o aggregate_a his_o own_o wickedness_n the_o sinner_n who_o have_v find_v mercy_n will_v not_o regard_v to_o discover_v his_o sin_n to_o his_o own_o shame_n and_o to_o tell_v all_o the_o world_n of_o they_o that_o he_o may_v glorify_v he_o who_o have_v give_v he_o mercy_n he_o will_v not_o stand_v upon_o his_o reputation_n but_o he_o will_v preserre_v god_n glory_n unto_o his_o own_o account_n he_o will_v glorify_v the_o lord_n with_o his_o own_o shame_n when_o david_n find_v mercy_n for_o his_o vile_a adultery_n and_o abominable_a murder_n he_o not_o only_o confess_v his_o sin_n to_o his_o own_o shame_n but_o also_o ascend_v to_o confess_v the_o natural_a corruption_n which_o he_o have_v from_o the_o loin_n of_o his_o parent_n the_o man_n that_o have_v fall_v into_o a_o notorious_a and_o vile_a sin_n and_o offence_n and_o yet_o for_o shame_n will_v not_o confess_v it_o that_o god_n may_v be_v glorify_v that_o soul_n have_v never_o feel_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n and_o if_o thou_o have_v feel_v that_o mercy_n of_o god_n thy_o heart_n will_v be_v loose_v and_o thy_o mouth_n also_o to_o glorify_v god_n by_o a_o humble_a confession_n moreover_o you_o may_v perceive_v out_o of_o these_o word_n how_o and_o what_o way_n the_o apostle_n find_v the_o strength_n and_o power_n of_o the_o gospel_n he_o find_v a_o power_n in_o it_o but_o not_o at_o the_o first_o instant_n but_o ere_o ever_o he_o feel_v the_o power_n of_o the_o lord_n he_o find_v himself_o to_o be_v weak_a and_o ere_o he_o feel_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n he_o find_v himself_o to_o be_v a_o miserable_a man_n thou_o shall_v never_o feel_v the_o power_n of_o god_n except_o first_o thou_o feel_v thy_o own_o weakness_n and_o thou_o shall_v never_o feel_v his_o mercy_n except_o first_o thou_o feel_v thy_o misery_n and_o therefore_o the_o lord_n jesus_n many_o a_o time_n sundry_a way_n cross_v his_o own_o in_o this_o life_n to_o the_o end_n that_o they_o may_v know_v and_o feel_v their_o weakness_n and_o misery_n and_o so_o go_v out_o of_o themselves_o to_o find_v strength_n and_o mercy_n in_o jesus_n christ_n sometime_o he_o will_v exercise_v his_o own_o with_o shame_n and_o reproach_n in_o the_o world_n sometime_o with_o to_o this_o end_n that_o they_o may_v know_v what_o they_o be_v without_o the_o lord_n how_o weak_a how_o frail_a how_o abject_a and_o naughty_a they_o be_v that_o so_o find_v themselves_o as_o nothing_o they_o may_v be_v compel_v to_o renounce_v themselves_o and_o to_o seek_v to_o be_v find_v in_o jesus_n yea_o after_o the_o lord_n have_v draw_v they_o to_o he_o by_o cross_n the_o lord_n use_v all_o the_o day_n of_o their_o life-time_n to_o expone_fw-la they_o to_o cross_n that_o every_o day_n find_v more_o their_o want_n infirmity_n and_o lack_v of_o comfort_n in_o themselves_o they_o may_v the_o more_o daily_a seek_v and_o strive_v to_o be_v find_v in_o jesus_n who_o can_v supply_v all_o their_o want_n and_o furnish_v every_o thing_n that_o they_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o it_o be_v true_a indeed_o many_o a_o time_n the_o lord_n will_v not_o exercise_v his_o own_o with_o cross_n but_o spare_v they_o &_o let_v they_o have_v liberty_n &_o give_v they_o in_o abundance_n the_o outward_a comfort_n of_o this_o life_n before_o they_o be_v effectual_o call_v look_v to_o paul_n before_o he_o know_v christ_n he_o boast_v much_o of_o his_o worldly_a prerogative_n of_o his_o kindred_n he_o be_v a_o gentleman_n he_o be_v in_o great_a account_n by_o the_o law_n a_o pharisee_n philip_n 3._o 4._o 5._o he_o know_v not_o what_o the_o cross_n mean_v the_o like_v you_o will_v find_v in_o many_o other_o of_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n but_o assoon_o as_o he_o call_v they_o effectual_o he_o lay_v the_o cross_n upon_o they_o that_o see_v their_o weakness_n and_o distrust_v themselves_o they_o may_v learn_v to_o renounce_v themselves_o and_o desire_v to_o find_v the_o power_n and_o life_n of_o jesus_n in_o they_o which_o they_o will_v find_v effectual_a in_o the_o cross_n in_o a_o wonderful_a manner_n look_v 2._o cor._n 11._o the_o lord_n lay_v manifold_a cross_n upon_o paul_n and_o when_o with_o tear_n he_o pray_v that_o the_o lord_n will_v take_v they_o away_o he_o get_v this_o answer_n my_o grace_n be_v sufficient_a for_o thou_o for_o my_o power_n be_v make_v perfect_a through_o thy_o weakness_n mean_v that_o he_o will_v be_v glorify_v and_o make_v paul_n to_o find_v strength_n in_o he_o when_o as_o he_o be_v weak_a in_o himself_o and_o never_o one_o be_v strong_a in_o christ_n but_o when_o he_o feel_v himself_o weak_a therefore_o he_o subjoin_v that_o he_o will_v rejoice_v and_o take_v pleasure_n in_o his_o infirmity_n that_o the_o power_n of_o christ_n may_v dwell_v in_o he_o he_o say_v 2._o cor._n 12._o 8._o 9_o 10._o and_o 2._o cor._n 4._o 10._o every_o where_o we_o brare_n about_o in_o our_o body_n the_o die_a of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n that_o the_o life_n of_o jesus_n may_v also_o be_v make_v manifest_a in_o our_o body_n etc._n etc._n when_o the_o body_n by_o cross_n be_v die_v than_o he_o find_v the_o life_n of_o christ_n and_o no_o soul_n shall_v find_v that_o life_n without_o it_o be_v die_v therefore_o if_o ever_o thou_o will_v find_v the_o power_n and_o life_n of_o christ_n in_o thou_o be_v careful_a to_o feel_v thy_o own_o weakness_n and_o misery_n yet_o mark_v the_o word_n he_o say_v notwithstanding_o of_o my_o himself_o and_o show_v that_o the_o lord_n have_v give_v he_o mercy_n and_o salvation_n he_o set_v down_o next_o the_o end_n of_o this_o grace_n but_o herefore_o say_v he_o he_o have_v mercy_n on_o i_o that_o he_o may_v first_o show_v on_o i_o all_o long_a suffering_n there_o be_v a_o end_n another_o end_n be_v that_o i_o shall_v be_v a_o example_n to_o other_o in_o the_o world_n now_o well_o that_o will_v wash_v he_o with_o his_o own_o blood_n the_o pretious_a liquor_n that_o ever_o be_v in_o the_o world_n be_v the_o blood_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n yea_o such_o be_v the_o worthiness_n &_o preciousness_n thereof_o that_o all_o the_o world_n will_v not_o buy_v one_o drop_n of_o it_o shall_v we_o not_o think_v then_o that_o he_o love_v that_o man_n well_o who_o he_o wash_v with_o his_o blood_n shall_v we_o not_o think_v that_o he_o bear_v a_o unspeakable_a love_n to_o that_o man_n who_o he_o wash_v with_o his_o holy_a spirit_n mark_v it_o brethren_n mercy_n come_v by_o chance_n to_o no_o man_n it_o be_v usual_o say_v kingdom_n come_v of_o hap_n but_o it_o be_v not_o so_o with_o mercy_n and_o the_o grace_n of_o jesus_n christ_n none_o get_v it_o but_o these_o who_o name_n be_v write_v up_o in_o the_o book_n of_o life_n none_o be_v call_v to_o the_o participation_n of_o one_o spunke_n of_o that_o save_a grace_n but_o they_o who_o be_v predestinate_v from_o all_o eternity_n and_o therefore_o if_o thou_o have_v get_v one_o spunke_n of_o grace_n count_v with_o thyself_o that_o thou_o be_v predestinate_v from_o all_o eternity_n to_o everlasting_a his_o love_n and_o mercy_n to_o shine_v in_o the_o world_n he_o will_v have_v the_o creature_n to_o glorify_v he_o in_o his_o mercy_n what_o be_v the_o cause_n that_o he_o send_v christ_n into_o the_o world_n that_o in_o christ_n his_o mercy_n may_v shine_v in_o the_o world_n what_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o this_o preach_n of_o the_o euangell_n why_o be_v it_o send_v that_o his_o mercy_n may_v
