of_o they_o be_v save_v and_o who_o dare_v deny_v it_o that_o they_o have_v grace_n and_o a_o great_a measure_n so_o as_o to_o be_v make_v the_o standard_n of_o receive_v the_o kingdom_n therefore_o they_o may_v quick_o come_v to_o a_o great_a height_n but_o thus_o much_o for_o this_o reason_n i_o be_o carry_v further_o than_o i_o have_v any_o thought_n when_o i_o first_o mind_v it_o as_o a_o until_o the_o lord_n come_v with_o a_o full_a seal_n of_o his_o love_n to_o his_o heart_n 2._o he_o may_v desire_v it_o before_o he_o be_v ready_a as_o in_o some_o passionate_a impatient_a fit_n as_o elijah_n 1_o king_n 19_o 4._o weary_a of_o his_o life_n the_o king_n persecute_v he_o and_o think_v he_o shall_v fall_v by_o his_o hand_n will_v have_v god_n take_v away_o his_o life_n from_o he_o but_o he_o have_v not_o yet_o do_v his_o work_n and_o so_o job_n god_n have_v not_o yet_o do_v with_o he_o he_o must_v pass_v through_o more_o change_n and_o prosper_v and_o flourish_v again_o and_o hold_v forth_o his_o name_n to_o that_o generation_n before_o he_o depart_v he_o have_v not_o do_v his_o work_n but_o i_o speak_v of_o the_o serious_a settle_a wellgrounded_n frame_n of_o a_o believer_n heart_n upon_o a_o sound_a persuasion_n of_o the_o love_n of_o god_n in_o jesus_n christ_n and_o a_o knowledge_n that_o he_o have_v finish_v his_o course_n then_o for_o such_o a_o one_o to_o wait_v for_o his_o change_n when_o the_o bless_a hour_n will_v come_v be_v a_o part_n of_o readiness_n for_o a_o entrance_n a_o abundant_a entrance_n into_o glory_n but_o this_o be_v not_o the_o a_o rate_n as_o his_o own_o most_o precious_a blood_n be_v it_o think_v you_o to_o suffer_v we_o for_o ever_o to_o be_v at_o such_o distance_n from_o he_o who_o he_o so_o dear_o love_v do_v his_o love_n to_o we_o draw_v he_o out_o of_o heaven_n to_o we_o and_o will_v it_o not_o think_v you_o draw_v we_o to_o heaven_n to_o he_o he_o will_v not_o have_v his_o spouse_n that_o he_o have_v redeem_v with_o his_o blood_n to_o be_v absent_a from_o he_o any_o long_a than_o be_v needful_a for_o his_o father_n glory_n and_o their_o good_a it_o be_v a_o fruit_n of_o his_o death_n and_o of_o his_o prayer_n father_n i_o will_v that_o where_o i_o be_o there_o 3._o they_o may_v be_v for_o they_o be_v the_o fullness_n of_o christ_n and_o he_o account_v himself_o as_o i_o may_v say_v imperfect_a without_o they_o and_o therefore_o he_o will_v have_v they_o there_o indeed_o brethren_n so_o dear_o be_v the_o heart_n of_o jesus_n christ_n to_o his_o people_n that_o he_o will_v not_o suffer_v so_o of_o one_o as_o well_o as_o another_o grace_n which_o he_o have_v beget_v in_o the_o soul_n so_o that_o if_o a_o man_n find_v he_o think_v he_o grow_v in_o faith_n and_o think_v he_o grow_v in_o love_n and_o yet_o grow_v not_o in_o zeal_n for_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n grow_v not_o in_o tenderness_n of_o heart_n and_o plyableness_n to_o his_o will_n this_o be_v not_o a_o right_a growth_n alas_o how_o many_o of_o we_o then_o do_v not_o grow_v in_o grace_n indeed_o seven_o though_o there_o be_v a_o uniformity_n in_o growth_n yet_o we_o must_v not_o so_o understand_v it_o that_o every_o undertake_n that_o they_o be_v the_o more_o eminent_a place_n in_o the_o body_n of_o christ_n we_o have_v the_o more_o we_o must_v look_v to_o it_o that_o we_o grow_v if_o a_o man_n be_v a_o magistrate_n or_o a_o minister_n i_o tell_v you_o brethren_n it_o be_v not_o enough_o that_o they_o be_v as_o other_o man_n in_o grace_n and_o yet_o alas_o then_o what_o disproportion_n do_v some_o of_o we_o make_v in_o the_o body_n of_o jesus_n christ_n that_o stand_v in_o that_o relation_n to_o the_o body_n and_o yet_o o_o how_o do_v other_o member_n overgrow_v we_o brethren_n they_o be_v if_o you_o see_v some_o eminent_a as_o bless_a be_v his_o name_n there_o be_v eminent_a and_o have_v their_o measure_n of_o growth_n to_o their_o condition_n you_o shall_v be_v follower_n of_o they_o believe_v in_o word_n in_o conversation_n in_o faith_n in_o purity_n etc._n etc._n but_o alas_o brethren_n may_v we_o not_o rather_o some_o of_o we_o take_v example_n therein_o how_o weak_a be_v our_o faith_n yet_o i_o say_v where_o there_o be_v such_o of_o eminency_n and_o thou_o can_v not_o reach_v they_o yet_o be_v not_o discourage_v because_o thou_o can_v not_o get_v so_o much_o light_n as_o the_o eye_n have_v be_v not_o discourage_v it_o be_v require_v there_o more_o than_o in_o another_o nor_o so_o much_o strength_n as_o a_o arm_n a_o leg_n when_o thou_o be_v it_o may_v be_v but_o as_o a_o little_a finger_n only_o there_o may_v be_v a_o proportion_n yea_o i_o will_v tell_v you_o brethren_n pity_v we_o pray_v for_o we_o magistrates_n and_o minister_n for_o i_o do_v very_o believe_v there_o be_v none_o fall_v so_o much_o short_a of_o our_o proportion_n of_o growth_n in_o grace_n according_a to_o our_o relation_n as_o we_o do_v but_o this_o be_v but_o the_o first_o and_o then_o second_o for_o the_o grace_n in_o every_o believer_n now_o the_o measure_n of_o every_o grace_n its_o growth_n as_o i_o think_v be_v much_o more_o hard_a to_o determine_v whether_o all_o grace_n do_v grow_v according_a to_o the_o proportion_n of_o the_o growth_n of_o any_o one_o of_o they_o that_o be_v to_o say_v whether_o love_n to_o god_n and_o zeal_n to_o his_o glory_n do_v grow_v according_a to_o the_o measure_n of_o every_o man_n faith_n and_o so_o patience_n according_a to_o the_o measure_n of_o his_o faith_n indeed_o i_o be_o at_o a_o stand_v here_o if_o that_o one_o habit_n of_o grace_n do_v beget_v another_o faith_n do_v beget_v love_n it_o will_v be_v the_o more_o clear_a because_o then_o according_a to_o the_o strength_n of_o the_o cause_n the_o effect_n will_v be_v a_o strong_a cause_n a_o strong_a effect_n the_o habit_n of_o grace_n in_o we_o be_v not_o voluntary_a agent_n but_o i_o take_v it_o for_o grant_v that_o the_o efficient_a cause_n of_o all_o grace_n one_o change_v as_o the_o apostle_n have_v it_o if_o we_o understand_v it_o of_o his_o particular_a come_n to_o summon_v we_o to_o appear_v before_o he_o it_o be_v less_o true_a for_o when_o the_o summons_n come_v it_o be_v before_o we_o die_v death_n indeed_o be_v his_o messenger_n or_o sergeant_n and_o therefore_o they_o be_v not_o dead_a before_o he_o come_v to_o fetch_v they_o beside_o it_o be_v not_o so_o usual_a to_o set_v forth_o death_n by_o a_o double_a expression_n of_o slumber_v and_o sleep_v but_o rather_o sleep_v only_o beside_o this_o slumber_n and_o 36._o sleep_v here_o be_v note_v he_o be_v asleep_a herein_o indeed_o be_v the_o exceed_a riches_n of_o his_o grace_n that_o though_o we_o grieve_v he_o by_o our_o slight_n of_o his_o presence_n and_o communication_n of_o himself_o to_o we_o so_o as_o to_o fall_v asleep_a in_o the_o midst_n of_o they_o that_o he_o will_v abide_v no_o long_o yet_o his_o heart_n yearn_v towards_o we_o and_o his_o love_n persuade_v he_o to_o return_v again_o to_o the_o soul_n and_o he_o will_v try_v again_o if_o we_o will_v let_v he_o in_o but_o we_o be_v asleep_a behold_v i_o stand_v at_o the_o door_n and_o knock_v it_o be_v wonderful_a know_v how_o longwe_n shall_v lie_v in_o that_o condition_n therefore_o take_v heed_n of_o it_o o_o when_o david_n fall_v into_o that_o sleep_n how_o long_o do_v he_o lie_v in_o it_o nine_a month_n weakness_n and_o inability_n to_o exercise_v our_o grace_n that_o we_o can_v do_v nothing_o but_o poor_a weak_a service_n so_o long_o to_o keep_v out_o jesus_n christ_n and_o when_o do_v we_o know_v that_o he_o will_v come_v so_o near_o to_o we_o as_o thorough_o to_o awake_v we_o what_o if_o he_o shall_v never_o do_v it_o until_o our_o die_a day_n what_o a_o sad_a end_n will_v that_o be_v eight_o remember_v this_o brethren_n though_o you_o may_v think_v of_o case_n in_o such_o a_o condition_n of_o sleep_v it_o will_v be_v no_o case_n to_o you_o but_o trouble_n for_o usual_o what_o be_v the_o reason_n we_o unbend_v our_o bow_n lose_v the_o cord_n we_o think_v we_o may_v have_v ease_n take_v on_o more_o easy_o and_o fair_o for_o heaven_n then_o we_o have_v do_v now_o the_o main_a part_n of_o our_o work_n be_v do_v we_o have_v get_v the_o oil_n in_o our_o vessel_n and_o a_o little_a assurance_n it_o may_v be_v of_o his_o love_n therefore_o now_o we_o may_v take_v our_o ease_n and_o so_o fall_v asleep_a believe_v it_o brethren_n it_o will_v be_v a_o little_a case_n to_o you_o and_o it_o will_v appear_v if_o you_o consider_v these_o two_o or_o three_o thing_n 1._o while_o you_o be_v in_o that_o sleep_n if_o you_o be_v believer_n indeed_o you_o will_v not_o have_v ease_n what_o distemper_a sleep_n do_v man_n sleep_v that_o be_v in_o continual_a fear_n or_o that_o shall_v not_o sleep_v and_o know_v they_o shall_v not_o sleep_v it_o will_v hazard_v their_o life_n be_v their_o sleep_n sweet_a ordinary_o sure_o no_o when_o a_o man_n sleep_v and_o in_o his_o sleep_n be_v terrify_v with_o dream_n how_o unquiet_a be_v he_o true_o a_o believer_n he_o never_o sleep_v heart_n and_o all_o if_o he_o do_v it_o be_v somewhat_o like_a now_o a_o hypocrite_n do_v he_o sleep_v heart_n and_o all_o that_o be_v first_o asleep_a that_o never_o be_v awake_a and_o therefore_o he_o may_v take_v more_o pleasure_n but_o alas_o the_o child_n of_o god_n all_o the_o while_o he_o be_v off_o from_o christ_n and_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o he_o he_o be_v like_o a_o stone_n from_o its_o centre_n like_o a_o iron_n pluck_v from_o the_o loadstone_n that_o have_v yet_o a_o â—ingering_n towards_o he_o will_v not_o rest_v until_o it_o return_v to_o he_o again_o so_o it_o be_v not_o quiet_a altogether_o therefore_o of_o all_o man_n the_o people_n of_o god_n be_v the_o very_a fool_n when_o they_o give_v way_n to_o sin_n or_o lie_v 8._o down_o upon_o the_o lap_n of_o sinful_a delight_n and_o fall_v asleep_a because_o they_o have_v a_o still_a principle_n within_o they_o which_o be_v keep_v awake_a a_o seed_n of_o god_n which_o still_o interrupt_v they_o and_o they_o can_v take_v their_o fill_n of_o delight_n nor_o rest_n in_o sin_n therefore_o to_o they_o it_o be_v return_v to_o folly_n when_o once_o peace_n be_v speak_v to_o they_o i_o appeal_v to_o the_o experience_n of_o all_o the_o saint_n whether_o when_o they_o be_v in_o a_o sleepy_a frame_n a_o fit_a of_o security_n have_v seize_v upon_o they_o the_o presence_n of_o christ_n be_v depart_v whether_o they_o have_v that_o rest_n and_o quiet_a in_o their_o spirit_n it_o be_v a_o uncomfortable_a condition_n to_o they_o 2._o because_o usual_o when_o his_o people_n be_v in_o such_o a_o condition_n the_o lord_n be_v say_v to_o take_v some_o violent_a course_n with_o they_o more_o than_o he_o will_v to_o awake_v they_o so_o that_o not_o only_o their_o sleep_n be_v troublesome_a but_o their_o awake_n be_v also_o sad_a to_o they_o here_o there_o be_v a_o cry_v make_v whether_o it_o be_v by_o the_o voice_n of_o the_o word_n lift_v up_o terrible_a threaten_n or_o whether_o the_o voice_n of_o his_o rod_n which_o cry_v it_o be_v terrible_a it_o be_v not_o a_o still_a voice_n happy_o will_v do_v it_o but_o it_o must_v be_v something_o that_o will_v make_v both_o our_o ear_n to_o tingle_v as_o it_o be_v in_o elias_n 11._o case_n poor_a man_n he_o be_v asleep_a a_o lust_n have_v so_o besot_v he_o that_o be_v to_o say_v his_o carnal_a affection_n to_o his_o child_n he_o honour_v they_o above_o god_n that_o love_v devour_v his_o love_n and_o eat_v up_o his_o zeal_n for_o god_n and_o the_o lord_n warn_v he_o send_v a_o prophet_n to_o he_o and_o tell_v he_o what_o he_o be_v like_a to_o trust_v to_o he_o have_v set_v his_o conscience_n a_o little_a to_o work_v before_o so_o far_o as_o to_o reprove_v they_o but_o if_o nothing_o else_o will_v do_v it_o awake_v he_o thorough_o what_o then_o i_o will_v do_v a_o thing_n that_o shall_v make_v both_o the_o ear_n of_o he_o that_o hear_v it_o tingle_v it_o shall_v awaken_v he_o and_o awaken_v other_o the_o bore_v of_o the_o ear_n may_v cost_v we_o something_o he_o will_v give_v we_o a_o alarm_n a_o strong_a one_o at_o least_o if_o see_v not_o his_o disease_n 2._o it_o be_v so_o like_a to_o uprightness_n of_o heart_n that_o it_o be_v scarce_o discernible_a to_o the_o physician_n that_o shall_v be_v instrumental_a to_o heal_v christ_n 3._o if_o he_o do_v see_v his_o disease_n he_o be_v usual_o unwilling_a to_o have_v it_o heal_v he_o like_v it_o better_a to_o keep_v his_o lust_n secret_o to_o have_v the_o delight_n of_o they_o and_o pleasure_n of_o sin_n secret_o and_o yet_o the_o show_n of_o godliness_n like_o a_o sâ—urdy_a rogue_n he_o have_v a_o sore_a and_o he_o know_v it_o well_o enough_o but_o he_o care_v not_o for_o have_v it_o heal_v because_o it_o be_v his_o blow_n it_o be_v that_o which_o bring_v in_o his_o profit_n or_o advantage_n by_o move_v other_o to_o commiseration_n but_o many_o time_n such_o person_n as_o these_o dye_n of_o their_o wound_n and_o when_o theâ—_n will_v have_v they_o heal_v they_o be_v foster_v so_o and_o corrupt_v there_o be_v no_o heal_n of_o they_o the_o lord_n grant_v it_o prove_v not_o the_o case_n of_o our_o soul_n why_o but_o you_o will_v say_v how_o shall_v a_o man_n know_v then_o if_o a_o object_n hypocrite_n be_v such_o a_o one_o that_o may_v go_v so_o far_o whether_o he_o be_v a_o hypocrite_n or_o no_o for_o it_o may_v be_v you_o will_v say_v for_o aught_o i_o perceive_v a_o hypocrite_n be_v go_v so_o far_o that_o i_o doubt_v i_o shall_v hardly_o reach_v it_o for_o answer_v to_o this_o i_o shall_v say_v these_o few_o thing_n first_o then_o for_o matter_n of_o affection_n for_o knowledge_n i_o think_v we_o answ_n can_v hardly_o make_v that_o characteristicon_n because_o it_o be_v common_a to_o both_o and_o when_o man_n speak_v of_o it_o as_o a_o practical_a knowledge_n a_o humble_v knowledge_n a_o warn_a knowledge_n etc._n etc._n these_o be_v the_o effect_n of_o it_o but_o knowledge_n consider_v as_o knowledge_n it_o be_v alike_o though_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o lord_n do_v shed_v it_o abroad_o upon_o some_o man_n heart_n and_o affection_n so_o that_o it_o work_v there_o mighty_o and_o remain_v imprison_v in_o some_o man_n head_n and_o understanding_n therefore_o for_o the_o affection_n i_o can_v stand_v to_o give_v account_n of_o every_o affection_n speak_v of_o before_o but_o for_o that_o of_o mourning_n for_o son_n which_o be_v special_o considerable_a you_o have_v hear_v a_o heart_n may_v be_v trouble_v for_o sin_n and_o it_o be_v questionless_a true_a but_o how_o shall_v we_o know_v then_o whether_o our_o trouble_n for_o sin_n be_v right_a or_o no_o or_o whether_o we_o be_v hypocritical_a therein_o true_o brethren_n if_o ever_o we_o can_v look_v upon_o jesus_n christ_n crucify_v by_o his_o sin_n and_o for_o they_o with_o such_o a_o eye_n of_o faith_n and_o so_o mourn_v over_o he_o crucify_v by_o we_o 10._o and_o yet_o for_o we_o this_o sure_o none_o else_o can_v work_v but_o the_o spirit_n of_o grace_n it_o be_v a_o special_a fruit_n of_o it_o in_o that_o 12._o of_o zach._n it_o may_v be_v thou_o
