one_o instrument_n of_o his_o special_a goodness_n he_o lead_v we_o to_o the_o consideration_n of_o all_o the_o like_a moreover_o we_o must_v reverence_v the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o only_a wise_a god_o herein_o who_o by_o the_o most_o gross_a evil_n labour_v to_o work_v the_o loath-thing_n of_o all_o the_o like_a and_o by_o benefit_n and_o good_a thing_n in_o themselves_o most_o amiable_a to_o further_o the_o cause_n of_o all_o the_o rest_n set_v the_o ugly_a shape_n he_o possible_o can_v upon_o evil_n to_o terrify_v we_o withal_o and_o give_v to_o good_a thing_n the_o countenance_n that_o may_v best_o commend_v they_o our_o travail_n therefore_o must_v be_v to_o search_v into_o these_o good_a thing_n which_o we_o receive_v by_o other_o that_o when_o we_o shall_v have_v find_v they_o we_o may_v as_o by_o duty_n appertain_v honour_v the_o owner_n of_o they_o nature_n may_v prevail_v with_o they_o that_o be_v of_o any_o consideration_n for_o the_o conceive_v of_o those_o benefit_n which_o they_o enjoy_v by_o mean_n of_o their_o parent_n so_o that_o the_o travail_n need_v not_o to_o be_v much_o herein_o reason_n may_v persuade_v even_o the_o most_o simple_a that_o if_o we_o delay_v to_o take_v up_o matter_n in_o controversy_n or_o suit_n of_o law_n with_o all_o possible_a speed_n that_o may_v be_v do_v by_o their_o negligence_n give_v occasion_n to_o the_o frail_a nature_n of_o man_n to_o commit_v murder_n or_o some_o other_o mischief_n against_o he_o with_o who_o he_o be_v in_o controversy_n and_o if_o careless_a negligence_n be_v thus_o dangerous_a how_o hard_a a_o matter_n will_v it_o be_v to_o reckon_v with_o the_o lord_n for_o deliberate_a purpose_n to_o keep_v man_n at_o variance_n and_o debate_n that_o their_o gain_n may_v grow_v thereby_o it_o will_v be_v a_o hard_a matter_n to_o answer_v before_o the_o almighty_a if_o we_o have_v give_v occasion_n whereby_o our_o neighbour_n have_v receive_v loss_n of_o life_n david_n carefulness_n herein_o be_v worthy_o commend_v to_o all_o posterity_n who_o when_o his_o man_n break_v through_o the_o host_n of_o the_o philistine_n with_o the_o danger_n of_o their_o life_n have_v bring_v he_o water_n to_o drink_v which_o he_o so_o great_o thirst_v after_o and_o wish_v for_o immediate_o pour_v it_o out_o for_o a_o oblation_n unto_o the_o lord_n and_o say_v let_v not_o my_o god_n suffer_v i_o to_o do_v this_o 11.17.18.19_o shall_v i_o drink_v the_o blood_n of_o these_o man_n life_n for_o they_o have_v bring_v it_o with_o the_o jeopardy_n of_o their_o life_n therefore_o he_o will_v not_o drink_v it_o a_o notable_a example_n to_o fear_v we_o for_o be_v occasion_n to_o any_o though_o servant_n or_o inferior_a rash_o to_o hazard_v his_o life_n either_o for_o our_o profit_n or_o pleasure_n in_o this_o commandment_n the_o lord_n be_v not_o only_o careful_a to_o have_v obedience_n from_o our_o hand_n but_o also_o from_o our_o heart_n and_o tongue_n so_o that_o both_o thought_n and_o word_n must_v come_v under_o subjection_n unto_o he_o that_o neither_o of_o they_o be_v infect_v with_o malice_n which_o the_o lord_n so_o hate_v and_o abhor_v for_o we_o must_v interpret_v the_o law_n according_a to_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o lord_n who_o be_v the_o lawegiver_n man_n by_o reason_n that_o he_o only_o see_v the_o deed_n and_o can_v discern_v of_o the_o heart_n make_v law_n for_o the_o outward_a do_n and_o punish_v they_o alone_o 1st_a without_o proceed_v further_o but_o the_o lord_n who_o search_v the_o heart_n and_o reins_n make_v law_n for_o it_o and_o punish_v even_o the_o consent_n of_o the_o heart_n go_v against_o his_o law_n in_o asmuch_o as_o the_o lord_n hate_v the_o evil_a itself_o he_o can_v but_o abhor_v it_o wheresoever_o he_o shall_v find_v it_o whether_o in_o heart_n hand_n or_o tongue_n it_o be_v write_v in_o the_o epistle_n of_o s._n john_n 3.15_o that_o whosoever_o hate_v his_o brother_n be_v a_o manslayer_n we_o see_v then_o that_o not_o the_o heart_n then_o can_v the_o tongue_n itself_o which_o if_o it_o be_v infect_v with_o hatred_n or_o disdain_n sure_o it_o be_v that_o all_o thing_n be_v not_o well_o at_o home_n in_o the_o heart_n and_o therefore_o all_o man_n must_v observe_v the_o inclination_n of_o the_o heart_n by_o the_o usage_n of_o the_o tongue_n that_o when_o it_o come_v abroad_o cast_v forth_o hatred_n wrath_n and_o debate_n we_o may_v with_o speed_n return_n to_o the_o fountain_n that_o be_v the_o heart_n to_o purge_v and_o cleanse_v the_o same_o because_o we_o be_v sure_a that_o from_o thence_o the_o tongue_n receive_v all_o poison_n if_o we_o shall_v prevail_v much_o in_o suppress_v hatred_n both_o in_o our_o heart_n tongue_n and_o hand_n yet_o be_v not_o that_o all_o which_o be_v here_o command_v for_o the_o lord_n in_o forbid_a murder_n mean_v not_o to_o stay_v there_o but_o in_o remove_v hatred_n his_o purpose_n be_v to_o make_v way_n &_o passage_n for_o merciful_a deal_n towards_o the_o life_n of_o other_o and_o necessary_a it_o be_v that_o he_o shall_v give_v we_o warning_n of_o that_o stumble_a block_n which_o lie_v in_o the_o way_n lest_o we_o suspect_v no_o such_o matter_n shall_v have_v imagine_v that_o there_o will_v have_v be_v true_a care_n for_o the_o life_n of_o our_o brother_n where_o there_o be_v no_o victory_n before_o over_o our_o own_o disposition_n which_o be_v altogether_o otherwise_o give_v &_o incline_v the_o true_a proof_n whereof_o we_o shall_v then_o have_v when_o our_o affection_n shall_v be_v stire_v up_o by_o any_o deal_n which_o shall_v mislike_v we_o for_o then_o we_o shall_v well_o perceive_v wrath_n to_o be_v mighty_o work_v in_o we_o which_o before_o because_o it_o have_v peradventure_o no_o great_a matter_n to_o work_v upon_o we_o think_v that_o we_o have_v be_v altogether_o void_a of_o or_o at_o the_o lest_o not_o great_o infect_v therewith_o but_o now_o in_o this_o manner_n of_o speak_v use_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n who_o batter_v down_o hatred_n when_o his_o purpose_n be_v to_o build_v up_o love_n we_o see_v that_o there_o will_v be_v no_o passage_n to_o any_o love_a deal_n in_o truth_n but_o by_o tread_v down_o of_o our_o affection_n which_o be_v note_v to_o be_v in_o we_o by_o the_o form_n of_o speak_v for_o to_o what_o end_n shall_v the_o holy_a ghost_n will_v we_o to_o do_v no_o murder_n if_o there_o be_v no_o disposition_n in_o we_o thereunto_o this_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o the_o holy_a ghost_n deal_v so_o plain_o with_o we_o in_o tell_v we_o what_o we_o be_v that_o our_o care_n may_v be_v great_a to_o reform_v it_o and_o when_o we_o shall_v have_v profit_v any_o thing_n herein_o it_o may_v be_v acknowledge_v from_o whence_o we_o have_v that_o which_o we_o be_v assure_v be_v not_o to_o be_v find_v in_o our_o nature_n the_o holy_a ghost_n therefore_o in_o this_o place_n detect_v our_o nature_n of_o want_n of_o love_n nay_o of_o hatred_n &_o cruelty_n which_o otherwise_o we_o shall_v not_o have_v mark_v no_o nor_o suspect_v ourselves_o of_o it_o if_o we_o have_v not_o have_v warning_n from_o the_o almighty_a that_o our_o nature_n be_v poison_v therewithal_o for_o if_o a_o man_n not_o fear_v god_n yet_o otherwise_o of_o good_a understanding_n to_o conceive_v the_o truth_n of_o thing_n be_v demand_v what_o his_o opinion_n be_v of_o himself_o whether_o he_o be_v prone_a &_o bend_v to_o hatred_n &_o whether_o he_o find_v his_o nature_n great_o incline_v thereto_o or_o no_o he_o will_v with_o great_a protestation_n constant_o affirm_v that_o in_o he_o he_o thank_v god_n there_o be_v no_o such_o matter_n abjure_v it_o with_o admiration_n and_o wonder_v how_o any_o man_n shall_v be_v bring_v to_o think_v so_o of_o he_o &_o thus_o in_o the_o not_o understand_v his_o own_o corruption_n he_o see_v not_o what_o need_n he_o have_v of_o a_o saviour_n &_o redeemer_n and_o therefore_o whatsoever_o he_o say_v be_v in_o deed_n and_o truth_n unthankful_a for_o that_o benefit_n while_o in_o find_v no_o great_a thing_n amiss_o in_o himself_o he_o can_v see_v what_o way_n he_o shall_v so_o great_o be_v behold_v to_o a_o saviour_n that_o will_v answer_v for_o his_o transgression_n which_o in_o his_o own_o opinion_n be_v no_o great_a matter_n to_o do_v they_o be_v either_o few_o and_o so_o bear_v out_o in_o the_o number_n of_o those_o good_a thing_n which_o he_o have_v do_v or_o else_o none_o at_o all_o moreover_o if_o we_o shall_v have_v do_v something_o or_o diverse_a thing_n that_o may_v be_v think_v love_v and_o friendly_a yet_o if_o the_o inclination_n to_o wrath_n which_o be_v by_o nature_n in_o we_o be_v either_o not_o know_v or_o be_v know_v the_o strength_n thereof_o shall_v not_o be_v subdue_v and_o the_o sting_n pull_v out_o that_o it_o reign_v no_o more_o within_o we_o we_o shall_v never_o be_v provoke_v by_o any_o evil_a deal_n of_o other_o but_o that_o forthwith_o let_v the_o reign_n go_v to_o our_o heart_n we_o shall_v dishonour_v his_o name_n in_o follow_v the_o rage_n of_o our_o mind_n contrary_a to_o the_o law_n of_o our_o god_n so_o may_v it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o a_o man_n have_v some_o good_a opinion_n of_o himself_o for_o some_o outward_a thing_n but_o never_o try_v with_o injurious_a deal_n of_o another_o may_v take_v it_o to_o go_v well_o with_o he_o when_o notwithstanding_o this_o corrupt_a shall_v be_v offer_v to_o try_v he_o with_o all_o we_o see_v then_o how_o just_a cause_n there_o be_v that_o the_o lord_n shall_v admonish_v we_o of_o this_o corruption_n of_o hatred_n which_o be_v within_o we_o not_o only_o that_o we_o shall_v see_v the_o benefit_n of_o our_o saviour_n and_o mediator_n but_o also_o that_o subdue_a it_n and_o tread_v down_o the_o strength_n of_o it_o we_o may_v to_o be_v sinner_n and_o therefore_o indebt_v unto_o god_o but_o yet_o never_o true_o consider_v by_o true_a trial_n of_o ourselves_o in_o every_o commandment_n what_o the_o particular_n be_v neither_o think_v to_o be_v any_o great_a benefit_n to_o be_v cure_v thereof_o for_o it_o appear_v to_o he_o to_o be_v very_o little_a by_o reason_n of_o the_o small_a quantity_n of_o skin_n that_o be_v break_v but_o after_o that_o it_o be_v search_v and_o lance_v there_o be_v know_v to_o be_v so_o much_o dead_a flesh_n about_o it_o as_o be_v take_v out_o make_v the_o hole_n ten_o time_n great_a than_o before_o then_o he_o begin_v to_o think_v what_o danger_n he_o be_v in_o for_o the_o decay_n of_o his_o whole_a body_n if_o that_o part_n be_v not_o well_o heal_v and_o therefore_o take_v it_o for_o a_o great_a and_o singular_a benefit_n to_o be_v cure_v thereof_o which_o before_o he_o do_v nothing_o at_o all_o esteem_n no_o less_o necessary_a be_v it_o for_o we_o by_o search_v into_o our_o several_a corruption_n by_o every_o commandment_n to_o cut_v away_o the_o dead_a flesh_n of_o carelessness_n and_o good_a like_n of_o our_o estate_n or_o at_o the_o jest_n of_o find_v no_o great_a justification_n from_o their_o own_o deserve_n &_o good_a deed_n because_o they_o have_v keep_v the_o law_n of_o god_n in_o their_o own_o opinion_n and_o therefore_o may_v just_o lay_v claim_n to_o eternal_a life_n for_o those_o their_o good_a deed_n this_o doctrine_n also_o condemn_v all_o secure_a man_n that_o have_v no_o sense_n of_o sin_n for_o the_o law_n shall_v so_o lay_v open_a unto_o we_o the_o sore_n of_o our_o sin_n that_o the_o very_a sight_n thereof_o may_v send_v we_o to_o christ_n for_o the_o end_n of_o it_o be_v so_o to_o charge_v we_o with_o our_o own_o woeful_a estate_n that_o we_o may_v be_v drive_v to_o give_v over_o the_o strong_a hold_n that_o we_o have_v which_o be_v the_o opinion_n of_o ourselves_o and_o fortify_v ourselves_o in_o christ_n &_o in_o his_o it_o will_v so_o let_v we_o see_v ourselves_o that_o we_o be_v no_o long_o careless_a of_o our_o estate_n which_o must_v needs_o be_v until_o that_o warn_a piece_n have_v awaken_v we_o and_o scare_v we_o out_o of_o ourselves_o but_o if_o it_o shall_v presume_v to_o deal_v further_o with_o we_o to_o drive_v we_o to_o despair_v remember_v that_o that_o be_v more_o than_o it_o have_v in_o commission_n for_o the_o law_n be_v charge_v with_o no_o more_o save_o this_o so_o to_o humble_v we_o that_o christ_n may_v receive_v we_o for_o as_o a_o evil_a body_n must_v be_v prepare_v before_o the_o physic_n that_o shall_v do_v good_a must_v be_v minister_v so_o must_v the_o law_n by_o true_a humble_v of_o we_o and_o purge_v these_o haughty_a humour_n that_o we_o be_v full_a of_o make_v way_n for_o the_o medicine_n of_o his_o mercy_n to_o work_v well_o upon_o we_o this_o doctrine_n give_v god_n his_o true_a mercy_n for_o to_o give_v unto_o they_o that_o be_v unworthy_a be_v a_o thing_n worthy_a and_o beseem_a god_n dare_v indignis_fw-la res_fw-la magè_fw-fr digna_fw-la deo._n it_o give_v unto_o he_o true_a justice_n for_o it_o ascribe_v unto_o he_o such_o justice_n and_o righteousness_n as_o no_o righteousness_n that_o be_v find_v in_o man_n be_v able_a to_o stand_v with_o all_o but_o must_v yield_v and_o give_v over_o but_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n offend_v both_o against_o his_o mercy_n and_o justice_n ascribe_v neither_o perfect_a mercy_n nor_o righteousness_n unto_o god._n for_o it_o be_v no_o mercy_n to_o help_v he_o that_o have_v desert_n in_o himself_o to_o be_v help_v that_o be_v justice_n neither_o be_v that_o justice_n perfect_a and_o beseem_a god_o that_o man_n can_v match_v withal_o and_o stand_v without_o check_n before_o it_o that_o lift_v man_n too_o high_a &_o abase_v god_n too_o low_o the_o law_n than_o teach_v we_o true_a humility_n &_o let_v we_o see_v that_o it_o be_v the_o free_a and_o undeserved_a goodness_n of_o god_n that_o have_v begone_v whatsoever_o holiness_n and_o righteousness_n of_o life_n be_v in_o we_o moreover_o when_o we_o shall_v be_v assure_v that_o we_o have_v very_o well_o profit_v in_o christianity_n it_o be_v also_o necessary_a for_o we_o to_o behold_v ourselves_o often_o in_o the_o
this_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o it_o seem_v madness_n and_o extreme_a folly_n unto_o his_o servant_n whatsoever_o be_v not_o approve_v by_o his_o word_n have_v it_o never_o so_o strong_a reason_n of_o man_n wit_n to_o uphold_v it_o withal_o it_o be_v not_o their_o wisdom_n they_o can_v see_v no_o wit_n in_o it_o for_o christ_n be_v become_v wisdom_n unto_o they_o and_o they_o have_v learn_v no_o such_o thing_n of_o he_o in_o his_o word_n therefore_o it_o be_v their_o wisdom_n to_o reject_v such_o wisdom_n it_o be_v a_o marvelous_a thing_n that_o any_o man_n who_o have_v wit_n and_o reason_n shall_v mislike_v that_o religion_n which_o have_v nothing_o else_o in_o it_o but_o force_n of_o wit_n and_o strength_n of_o reason_n but_o let_v we_o cease_v to_o marvel_v and_o begin_v to_o deliberate_o in_o our_o heart_n these_o pleasure_n will_v we_o follow_v be_v we_o not_o just_o blame_v for_o not_o love_v he_o with_o all_o our_o thought_n be_v it_o not_o a_o plain_a mockery_n of_o god_o if_o a_o man_n shall_v give_v liberty_n to_o his_o thought_n to_o pursue_v pleasure_n whole_a day_n and_o week_n so_o that_o they_o take_v heed_n of_o set_v it_o down_o and_o conclude_v full_o to_o wallow_v in_o any_o our_o thought_n shall_v be_v whole_o take_v up_o to_o the_o lord_n use_v and_o therefore_o may_v they_o not_o be_v let_v loose_a after_o good_n or_o benefit_n of_o our_o brethren_n with_o the_o alone_a charge_n to_o take_v heed_n how_o they_o full_o settle_v themselves_o in_o they_o but_o so_o they_o be_v sure_a of_o that_o otherwise_o to_o take_v no_o great_a care_n this_o be_v not_o by_o love_n to_o take_v up_o our_o thought_n and_o direct_v they_o to_o his_o service_n but_o by_o carnal_a liberty_n to_o give_v they_o the_o head_n and_o sure_o we_o may_v discern_v a_o fault_n in_o this_o even_o by_o the_o light_n almost_o of_o reason_n that_o our_o thought_n shall_v rather_o delight_v to_o spend_v themselves_o upon_o evil_n or_o vain_a thing_n then_o upon_o those_o that_o have_v the_o great_a pleasure_n and_o chief_a goodness_n in_o they_o behold_v than_o it_o be_v a_o faulty_a thing_n that_o our_o thought_n run_v rove_a after_o vain_a thing_n that_o they_o follow_v the_o delight_n of_o their_o neighbour_n pleasure_n or_o profit_n though_o not_o great_o settle_v in_o they_o but_o wanton_o wander_v by_o they_o why_o shall_v they_o not_o be_v fasten_v with_o delight_n and_o whole_a consent_n unto_o good_a thing_n have_v not_o the_o lord_n pay_v the_o price_n for_o body_n and_o soul_n and_o all_o that_o be_v in_o we_o why_o then_o shall_v not_o all_o be_v keep_v under_o his_o obedience_n without_o rove_a after_o our_o own_o desire_n either_o else_o why_o shall_v we_o excuse_v any_o thought_n stray_v and_o wander_v from_o he_o with_o this_o answer_n that_o it_o have_v return_v before_o it_o be_v go_v so_o far_o as_o possible_a it_o may_v this_o be_v no_o reasonable_a excuse_n nor_o plain_a deal_n before_o our_o god_n this_o be_v not_o to_o love_v he_o with_o all_o the_o thought_n it_o be_v a_o very_a ungodly_a thing_n and_o will_v be_v cry_v out_o against_o even_o amongst_o man_n if_o any_o shall_v permit_v his_o son_n not_o to_o spare_v dalliance_n and_o delight_n with_o young_a woman_n so_o that_o he_o make_v this_o always_o sure_a that_o they_o shall_v get_v no_o hold_n of_o he_o by_o give_v full_a consent_n to_o join_v in_o marriage_n with_o they_o this_o be_v a_o intolerable_a thing_n among_o man_n and_o can_v we_o think_v when_o we_o shall_v have_v delight_v ourselves_o a_o long_a time_n in_o the_o escape_n from_o the_o lord_n and_o so_o many_o attempt_n to_o give_v he_o the_o slip_n this_o have_v in_o it_o matter_n of_o mislike_v that_o there_o shall_v be_v any_o such_o untowardness_n in_o we_o and_o that_o our_o thought_n shall_v be_v so_o unruly_a as_o ever_o and_o anon_o they_o be_v to_o be_v call_v home_o to_o give_v their_o attendance_n this_o sure_o aught_o to_o humble_v we_o even_o in_o this_o respect_n moreover_o these_o thought_n be_v not_o only_o out-straying_a themselves_o but_o also_o solicit_v and_o allure_a our_o desire_n and_o affection_n to_o rebel_v with_o they_o this_o also_o can_v not_o but_o make_v we_o humble_a careful_a and_o watchful_a remember_v then_o where_o no_o desire_n do_v join_v with_o the_o thought_n of_o our_o mind_n yet_o be_v there_o occasion_n why_o such_o thought_n shall_v be_v mislike_v of_o and_o we_o even_o to_o be_v weary_v with_o they_o and_o vex_v at_o they_o desire_v after_o a_o godly_a and_o patient_a manner_n to_o
