thing_n which_o the_o lord_n have_v not_o speak_v etc._n etc._n yet_o the_o accomplishment_n of_o what_o a_o prophet_n foretell_v be_v no_o sure_a sign_n that_o he_o be_v a_o true_a prophet_n nor_o to_o be_v regard_v if_o his_o doctrine_n be_v not_o according_a to_o the_o truth_n which_o god_n have_v teach_v we_o verse_n 3._o for_o the_o lord_n your_o god_n prove_v you_o etc._n etc._n these_o word_n be_v add_v as_o the_o reason_n why_o they_o be_v not_o to_o hearken_v to_o any_o prophet_n that_o shall_v persuade_v they_o to_o idolatry_n yea_o though_o he_o give_v they_o any_o sign_n or_o wonder_n which_o shall_v according_o come_v to_o pass_n to_o wit_n because_o hereby_o the_o lord_n do_v prove_v they_o to_o see_v whether_o they_o do_v sincere_o love_n god_n or_o no._n for_o the_o understanding_n whereof_o we_o must_v know_v the_o lord_n be_v here_o say_v to_o prove_v they_o by_o that_o which_o the_o false_a prophet_n do_v to_o seduce_v they_o to_o idolatry_n first_o because_o even_o the_o lord_n himself_o may_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o prophecy_n reveal_v thing_n to_o come_v even_o to_o wicked_a man_n and_o false_a prophet_n as_o he_o do_v to_o balaam_n and_o caiaphas_n as_o know_v how_o thereby_o to_o bring_v glory_n to_o himself_o though_o they_o only_o intend_v to_o corrupt_v and_o seduce_v his_o people_n second_o because_o though_o these_o prediction_n give_v and_o wonder_n wrought_v be_v usual_o either_o mere_a forging_n and_o imposture_n or_o else_o satanical_a delusion_n whereby_o man_n be_v make_v to_o think_v they_o see_v those_o thing_n do_v which_o indeed_o be_v not_o do_v or_o last_o be_v such_o wonder_n as_o be_v indeed_o do_v but_o by_o the_o power_n of_o the_o devil_n yet_o it_o be_v of_o god_n that_o either_o man_n or_o devil_n be_v permit_v to_o do_v such_o thing_n who_o can_v easy_o restrain_v they_o if_o he_o see_v cause_n to_o do_v it_o and_o three_o because_o the_o lord_n aim_v in_o suffer_v the_o devil_n and_o wicked_a with_o all_o their_o soul_n this_o be_v a_o sure_a rule_n that_o those_o who_o heart_n be_v upright_o towards_o god_n will_v not_o be_v draw_v away_o from_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n by_o such_o delusion_n according_a to_o that_o of_o the_o apostle_n 1._o john_n 2._o 19_o they_o go_v out_o from_o we_o but_o they_o be_v not_o of_o we_o for_o if_o they_o have_v be_v of_o we_o they_o will_v no_o doubt_n have_v continue_v with_o we_o verse_n 5._o and_o that_o prophet_n or_o that_o dreamer_n of_o dream_n shall_v be_v put_v to_o death_n etc._n etc._n here_o they_o be_v enjoin_v to_o put_v the_o false_a prophet_n to_o death_n that_o shall_v so_o seduce_v the_o people_n for_o the_o better_a understanding_n whereof_o we_o must_v note_v first_o that_o every_o spread_a of_o false_a doctrine_n in_o matter_n of_o less_o consequence_n be_v not_o thus_o to_o be_v punish_v but_o only_o the_o seduce_a of_o man_n from_o the_o true_a religion_n to_o the_o direct_a worship_n of_o false_a god_n and_o in_o this_o case_n though_o many_o expositor_n hold_v that_o this_o law_n concern_v only_o the_o policy_n of_o the_o jew_n yet_o i_o see_v not_o but_o that_o it_o give_v the_o christian_a magistrate_n power_n also_o to_o provide_v for_o the_o secure_n of_o his_o people_n even_o by_o the_o capital_a punishment_n of_o those_o that_o seduce_v they_o to_o a_o apostasy_n of_o so_o high_a thrust_v thou_o out_o of_o the_o way_n which_o the_o lord_n thy_o god_n command_v thou_o to_o walk_v in_o be_v intend_v to_o imply_v what_o a_o dangerous_a and_o strong_a temptation_n that_o of_o pretend_a miracle_n be_v to_o seduce_v man_n from_o the_o way_n of_o truth_n and_o therefore_o our_o saviour_n also_o speak_v of_o such_o say_v mat._n 24._o 24._o they_o shall_v deceive_v if_o it_o this_o phrase_n if_o thy_o brother_n the_o son_n of_o thy_o mother_n be_v here_o use_v either_o to_o distinguish_v true_a brother_n from_o kindred_n yea_o from_o all_o other_o israelite_n who_o be_v frequent_o in_o the_o scripture_n call_v their_o brethren_n or_o else_o emphatical_o to_o express_v that_o brother_n that_o be_v usual_o most_o beloved_a to_o wit_n a_o brother_n both_o by_o father_n and_o mother_n at_o least_o a_o brother_n by_o the_o mother_n side_n that_o lie_v in_o the_o same_o belly_n with_o they_o and_o that_o because_o our_o love_n to_o such_o be_v natural_o the_o strong_a and_o second_o that_o in_o the_o particular_a mention_n that_o be_v here_o make_v of_o the_o daughter_n as_o well_o as_o of_o the_o son_n as_o also_o of_o the_o wife_n there_o be_v not_o only_a respect_n have_v to_o the_o love_n that_o man_n bear_v to_o they_o but_o also_o to_o the_o pity_n that_o man_n be_v prone_a to_o take_v of_o that_o sex_n man_n be_v natural_o incline_v to_o take_v compassion_n of_o that_o sex_n and_o therefore_o this_o be_v particular_o express_v that_o in_o case_n a_o daughter_n or_o wife_n seek_v to_o seduce_v they_o to_o idolatry_n they_o must_v be_v put_v to_o death_n and_o there_o must_v be_v no_o pity_n show_v they_o because_o of_o their_o sex_n indeed_o because_o there_o be_v no_o mention_n make_v here_o of_o father_n and_o mother_n therefore_o some_o have_v think_v that_o by_o this_o law_n the_o child_n be_v not_o bind_v to_o accuse_v either_o father_n or_o mother_n if_o they_o seek_v to_o seduce_v he_o to_o idolatry_n the_o lord_n not_o enjoin_v this_o in_o regard_n it_o be_v so_o much_o against_o the_o reverence_n which_o child_n do_v natural_o bear_v to_o their_o parent_n but_o these_o build_v upon_o too_o weak_a a_o ground_n doubtless_o in_o god_n cause_n there_o be_v no_o more_o reason_n for_o the_o child_n to_o regard_v the_o parent_n then_o for_o the_o husband_n to_o regard_v the_o wife_n of_o his_o bosom_n and_o levi_n in_o this_o case_n be_v commend_v for_o close_v his_o eye_n against_o his_o parent_n because_o he_o say_v unto_o his_o father_n and_o to_o his_o mother_n i_o have_v not_o see_v he_o chap._n
