thought_n above_o we_o so_o that_o we_o offer_v exceed_o wrong_n unto_o his_o majesty_n while_o we_o think_v to_o bring_v he_o under_o the_o condition_n of_o man_n infirmity_n who_o good_a countenance_n can_v be_v obtain_v unless_o in_o the_o person_n of_o those_o who_o he_o especial_o like_v of_o by_o bribe_a or_o flatter_v of_o they_o he_o himself_o may_v seem_v to_o be_v honour_v and_o the_o hold_n of_o his_o favour_n crafty_o undermine_v the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n shake_v off_o all_o such_o folly_n tell_v we_o that_o it_o be_v the_o hear_n of_o his_o word_n &_o keep_v of_o the_o same_o that_o get_v credit_n with_o he_o that_o make_v we_o ally_v unto_o he_o even_o to_o become_v true_o the_o mother_n sister_n or_o brother_n of_o he_o as_o we_o read_v in_o the_o no_o more_o be_v it_o lawful_a for_o we_o to_o give_v any_o worship_n to_o the_o lord_n but_o only_o that_o which_o be_v allow_v in_o his_o word_n and_o therefore_o have_v he_o forbid_v we_o to_o make_v any_o grave_a image_n imagine_v that_o way_n to_o please_v he_o and_o to_o do_v a_o work_n that_o be_v acceptable_a unto_o he_o for_o those_o that_o bow_n unto_o grave_a image_n think_v and_o say_v that_o the_o lord_n be_v serve_v therein_o and_o that_o they_o do_v it_o not_o unto_o the_o image_n but_o unto_o the_o lord_n represent_v unto_o they_o in_o the_o image_n but_o the_o lord_n in_o to_o worship_v any_o other_o beside_o himself_o which_o thing_n he_o have_v in_o many_o place_n plain_o forbid_v &_o therefore_o in_o this_o commandment_n he_o repress_v this_o intolerable_a boldness_n of_o man_n that_o in_o his_o own_o devotion_n will_v presume_v to_o please_v the_o lord_n either_o in_o the_o worship_v of_o other_o or_o in_o any_o other_o manner_n of_o worship_v he_o than_o he_o himself_o have_v open_v in_o his_o word_n in_o this_o second_o part_n concern_v grave_v image_n there_o be_v certain_a word_n which_o be_v lay_v open_a will_v make_v the_o better_a entrance_n to_o the_o true_a sense_n and_o meaning_n of_o the_o whole_a in_o consideration_n whereof_o it_o shall_v not_o be_v unprofitable_a brief_o and_o in_o a_o word_n to_o touch_v they_o it_o be_v say_v here_o that_o he_o be_v a_o jealous_a god_n which_o signify_v that_o he_o can_v not_o suffer_v we_o to_o join_v any_o with_o he_o in_o the_o cause_n &_o care_n of_o our_o welfare_n a_o kind_n of_o speech_n borrow_v from_o husband_n who_o can_v not_o abide_v to_o see_v the_o mind_n &_o affection_n of_o their_o wife_n entangle_v with_o any_o other_o man_n but_o require_v to_o have_v they_o keep_v pure_a and_o chaste_a to_o themselves_o alone_o the_o pursue_v of_o his_o displeasure_n which_o be_v here_o recite_v toward_o the_o third_o and_o four_o generation_n of_o they_o that_o hate_v he_o seem_v to_o maintain_v unrighteousness_n in_o the_o lord_n be_v to_o be_v understand_v of_o such_o child_n as_o tread_v in_o the_o same_o step_n of_o iniquity_n with_o their_o father_n for_o otherwise_o that_o of_o the_o prophet_n ezechiel_n be_v true_a 18.20_o the_o godly_a son_n shall_v not_o bear_v the_o iniquity_n of_o his_o ungodly_a father_n these_o thing_n be_v now_o make_v plain_a unto_o we_o let_v we_o go_v forward_o with_o the_o matter_n that_o we_o have_v in_o hand_n the_o lord_n god_n in_o forbid_v the_o worship_v of_o image_n and_o so_o under_o that_o all_o other_o be_v jealous_a over_o we_o and_o can_v abide_v that_o we_o go_v after_o any_o other_o this_o reason_n to_o disuade_v we_o from_o idolatry_n maintain_v such_o tender_a affection_n of_o god_n towards_o his_o as_n can_v suffer_v they_o to_o look_v aside_o after_o any_o other_o because_o he_o will_v have_v they_o as_o they_o be_v in_o deed_n so_o to_o take_v themselves_o whole_o behold_v to_o he_o argue_v that_o idolater_n and_o false_a worshipper_n of_o god_n be_v so_o carry_v away_o with_o the_o love_n and_o affection_n that_o they_o bear_v unto_o those_o who_o they_o worship_v with_o the_o lord_n and_o with_o the_o opinion_n of_o that_o their_o devise_a worship_n of_o he_o that_o they_o depend_v not_o whole_o upon_o his_o goodness_n take_v he_o alone_o to_o be_v their_o whole_a happiness_n the_o only_a author_n and_o worker_n thereof_o but_o be_v part_v and_o divide_v in_o their_o affection_n imagine_v and_o persuade_v themselves_o that_o they_o be_v behold_v and_o that_o not_o a_o little_a for_o the_o benefit_n they_o have_v what_o soever_o unto_o those_o who_o they_o worship_v and_o unto_o this_o their_o devise_a service_n of_o the_o lord_n this_o thing_n be_v be_v yet_o a_o common_a thing_n in_o the_o mouth_n of_o many_o that_o the_o world_n be_v good_a when_o man_n worship_v saint_n and_o image_n there_o be_v plenty_n of_o all_o thing_n so_o that_o even_o now_o we_o may_v descry_v the_o whore_n by_o her_o wont_a speech_n i_o will_v go_v after_o my_o lover_n that_o give_v i_o my_o wool_n and_o my_o flax_n my_o oil_n and_o my_o drink_n in_o the_o 8._o verse_n of_o this_o chapter_n the_o lord_n say_v plain_o by_o his_o prophet_n that_o this_o whore_n do_v not_o know_v that_o it_o be_v he_o that_o give_v her_o corn_n and_o wine_n and_o oil_n and_o multiply_v her_o silver_n and_o gold_n which_o be_v bestow_v upon_o baal_n it_o do_v plain_o appear_v by_o this_o that_o the_o idolater_n be_v draw_v in_o their_o heart_n and_o affection_n unto_o those_o who_o they_o worship_v nourish_v a_o secret_a persuasion_n that_o they_o have_v their_o benefit_n from_o thence_o whereby_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o their_o heart_n depart_v by_o little_a and_o little_a from_o the_o lord_n we_o have_v a_o plain_a proof_n of_o this_o in_o popery_n not_o only_o by_o their_o speech_n that_o say_v while_o they_o worship_v saint_n they_o have_v store_n and_o plenty_n of_o all_o thing_n but_o also_o by_o their_o practice_n who_o have_v assign_v unto_o several_a saint_n the_o honour_n of_o help_n and_o aid_v in_o several_a cause_n of_o distress_n to_o some_o they_o assign_v the_o charge_n for_o ague_n to_o other_o for_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o earth_n and_o to_o several_a kingdom_n &_o country_n they_o assign_v several_a saint_n for_o patroness_n to_o these_o they_o do_v resort_v in_o distress_n these_o they_o call_v upon_o when_o any_o help_n come_v they_o receive_v it_o as_o the_o benefit_n of_o that_o saint_n to_o who_o they_o have_v allot_v that_o charge_n thus_o have_v distribute_v god_n office_n unto_o other_o and_o have_v put_v over_o the_o distribution_n of_o several_a benefit_n unto_o several_a saint_n and_o as_o man_n that_o tender_v the_o trouble_n of_o the_o lord_n set_v almost_o over_o all_o deal_n unto_o other_o under_o he_o be_v any_o way_n relieve_v the_o honour_n thereof_o if_o it_o be_v not_o altogether_o give_v away_o from_o the_o lord_n at_o least_o it_o must_v be_v part_v so_o that_o it_o can_v be_v but_o the_o talk_v of_o the_o whore_n that_o she_o will_v go_v after_o her_o lover_n that_o have_v give_v she_o her_o oil_n and_o drink_n she_o will_v and_o flax_n for_o to_o what_o end_n shall_v she_o so_o resort_v unto_o they_o if_o have_v help_v that_o way_n she_o mean_v not_o to_o return_v the_o honour_n upon_o they_o the_o truth_n be_v so_o that_o worship_v any_o beside_o the_o lord_n as_o also_o in_o give_v he_o any_o worship_n of_o their_o own_o devise_v not_o confirm_v in_o his_o word_n they_o be_v carry_v so_o away_o with_o the_o opinion_n and_o worthiness_n thereof_o that_o they_o do_v not_o whole_o depend_v upon_o the_o goodness_n of_o the_o lord_n therefore_o we_o shall_v find_v it_o often_o in_o the_o scripture_n where_o the_o lord_n labour_v to_o overthrow_v idolatry_n and_o worship_v of_o image_n in_o the_o same_o place_n he_o magnify_v his_o own_o goodness_n and_o his_o alone_a goodness_n towards_o they_o a_o notable_a confirmation_n whereof_o we_o have_v in_o the_o prophet_n isaiah_n speak_v of_o they_o that_o set_v up_o the_o wood_n of_o their_o idol_n 45.21_o immediate_o upon_o it_o he_o have_v these_o word_n there_o be_v none_o other_o god_n beside_o i_o a_o just_a god_n and_o a_o saviour_n there_o be_v none_o beside_o i_o look_v unto_o i_o and_o you_o shall_v be_v save_v all_o the_o end_n of_o the_o earth_n shall_v be_v save_v for_o i_o be_o god_n and_o there_o be_v none_o other_o i_o have_v swear_v by_o myself_o the_o word_n be_v go_v out_o of_o my_o mouth_n in_o righteousness_n and_o shall_v not_o return_v that_o every_o knee_n shall_v bow_v unto_o i_o and_o every_o tongue_n shall_v swear_v by_o i_o sure_o he_o shall_v the_o lord_n which_o prove_v plain_o that_o idolater_n be_v not_o so_o persuade_v but_o that_o in_o the_o opinion_n of_o these_o their_o do_n 44.21_o their_o affection_n abate_v towards_o the_o goodness_n of_o the_o lord_n the_o like_a confirmation_n we_o have_v in_o a_o other_o place_n of_o the_o same_o prophet_n where_o disuade_v they_o from_o idolatry_n he_o set_v forth_o the_o greatness_n of_o his_o goodness_n towards_o they_o remember_v these_o oh_o jacob_n and_o israel_n for_o thou_o be_v my_o servant_n i_o have_v form_n thou_o thou_o be_v my_o servant_n oh_o israel_n forget_v i_o not_o i_o have_v put_v away_o thy_o transgression_n like_o a_o cloud_n and_o thy_o sin_n as_o a_o mist_n turn_v unto_o i_o for_o i_o have_v redeem_v thou_o whereas_o before_o the_o great_a and_o undeserved_a goodness_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v bring_v in_o as_o the_o best_a medicine_n to_o cure_v idolatry_n true_a it_o be_v therefore_o whatsoever_o they_o do_v say_v that_o they_o goodness_n towards_o they_o which_o carry_v in_o it_o a_o secret_a sentence_n against_o they_o that_o they_o stand_v not_o persuade_v &_o resolve_v thereof_o idolatry_n be_v most_o fit_o compare_v in_o the_o scripture_n unto_o adultery_n and_o the_o idolater_n call_v whore_n because_o as_o whore_n admit_v unto_o their_o love_n other_o than_o their_o own_o husband_n so_o idolater_n and_o the_o false_a worshipper_n of_o god_n reserve_v not_o their_o faith_n and_o confidence_n unto_o the_o lord_n alone_o but_o permit_v other_o to_o be_v fellow_n with_o he_o at_o the_o same_o wherefore_o to_o declare_v the_o great_a hatred_n that_o he_o have_v of_o such_o deal_n he_o take_v unto_o he_o the_o quarrel_n of_o jealousy_n threaten_v that_o he_o will_v prosecute_v this_o injury_n of_o prostitute_v and_o lay_v open_a that_o faith_n unto_o other_o which_o

of_o help_v &_o relieve_n we_o if_o that_o have_v be_v other_o then_o we_o can_v have_v prescribe_v shall_v we_o deny_v the_o lord_n to_o have_v hear_v our_o suit_n because_o the_o help_n that_o we_o have_v have_v have_v not_o be_v in_o the_o same_o manner_n that_o we_o have_v conceive_v to_o be_v best_a this_o one_o thing_n we_o have_v often_o to_o call_v to_o remembrance_n that_o before_o the_o request_n of_o these_o outward_a necessity_n there_o be_v the_o desire_n of_o do_v his_o will_n here_o in_o earth_n to_o teach_v we_o that_o the_o lord_n be_v thus_o helpful_a in_o outward_a necessity_n oppress_v they_o unto_o the_o prayer_n of_o such_o as_o have_v not_o only_o the_o knowledge_n of_o his_o will_n but_o also_o the_o desire_n to_o do_v it_o for_o that_o go_v before_o the_o other_o in_o our_o prayer_n &_o therefore_o in_o our_o desire_n in_o as_o much_o as_o true_a prayer_n go_v not_o without_o the_o desire_n of_o the_o heart_n unto_o the_o request_n of_o the_o tongue_n those_o therefore_o that_o look_v for_o these_o outward_a blessing_n when_o they_o call_v unto_o the_o lord_n must_v learn_v both_o to_o know_v what_o his_o will_n be_v revel_v in_o his_o word_n &_o also_o to_o have_v a_o desire_n to_o do_v the_o same_o for_o unto_o those_o that_o thus_o worship_v he_o the_o lord_n have_v promise_v to_o incline_v his_o ear_n according_a as_o it_o be_v write_v in_o these_o word_n we_o know_v that_o god_n hear_v not_o sinner_n 6.31_o but_o if_o any_o man_n be_v a_o worshipper_n of_o god_n &_o do_v his_o will_n he_o hear_v he_o put_v they_o in_o hope_n of_o be_v hear_v that_o be_v worshipper_n of_o he_o &_o make_v those_o the_o worshipper_n not_o that_o do_v unto_o he_o whatsoever_o like_v they_o but_o that_o be_v doer_n of_o his_o like_n &_o will_n prove_v if_o any_o man_n be_v a_o worshipper_n of_o god_n and_o a_o doer_n of_o his_o will_n he_o hear_v he_o those_o be_v they_o to_o who_o the_o lord_n have_v make_v promise_n that_o he_o will_v be_v merciful_o incline_v unto_o in_o their_o prayer_n &_o petition_n he_o be_v nigh_o unto_o all_o that_o call_v upon_o he_o in_o truth_n he_o will_v fulfil_v the_o desire_n of_o they_o that_o fear_v he_o he_o will_v hear_v their_o cry_n and_o will_v save_v they_o 145.19.20_o the_o lord_n preserve_v all_o they_o that_o love_v he_o say_v the_o holy_a ghost_n it_o may_v so_o fall_v out_o that_o persuade_v as_z the_o truth_n be_v in_o deed_n that_o it_o stand_v upon_o the_o name_n &_o glory_n of_o the_o lord_n to_o stand_v by_o he_o in_o their_o necessity_n for_o to_o succour_v and_o help_v they_o as_o the_o matter_n shall_v require_v wherefore_o they_o require_v it_o as_o a_o part_n of_o his_o own_o glory_n as_o a_o argument_n and_o assurance_n that_o he_o reign_v here_o in_o earth_n as_o a_o matter_n that_o be_v agreeable_a to_o his_o good_a pleasure_n and_o will_n according_a as_o they_o have_v learn_v out_o of_o his_o word_n which_o give_v they_o a_o assure_a hope_n of_o be_v hear_v and_o make_v they_o bold_a to_o call_v upon_o he_o know_v that_o his_o own_o glory_n the_o renown_n of_o his_o own_o kingdom_n and_o a_o matter_n that_o be_v agreeable_a to_o his_o own_o good_a like_n and_o will_n be_v in_o hand_n while_o their_o distress_n &_o want_n be_v bring_v before_o the_o lord_n to_o be_v help_v &_o relieve_v by_o he_o a_o manifest_a confirmation_n &_o proof_n of_o this_o be_v to_o be_v find_v in_o the_o psalm_n in_o the_o which_o place_n the_o prophet_n speak_v much_o in_o the_o begin_n of_o extol_v the_o name_n of_o god_n 145._o of_o meditate_v the_o beauty_n of_o his_o glorious_a majesty_n of_o show_v forth_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o kingdom_n and_o speak_v of_o his_o power_n after_o this_o it_o follow_v that_o the_o lord_n uphold_v all_o that_o fall_n they_o shall_v by_o faithful_a prayer_n resort_v unto_o he_o his_o meaning_n be_v to_o leave_v manifest_a and_o plain_a proof_n that_o he_o rule_v herein_o earth_n even_o by_o that_o mercy_n that_o of_o his_o kingdom_n and_o the_o good_a pleasure_n of_o he_o will_v go_v joint_o together_o with_o the_o hear_n &_o regard_v of_o their_o cause_n according_a as_o they_o be_v set_v before_o this_o petition_n in_o this_o form_n of_o prayer_n that_o be_v prescribe_v by_o the_o lord_n where_o before_o we_o make_v mention_n of_o daily_a bread_n there_o be_v request_v make_v for_o the_o hallow_n of_o his_o name_n the_o come_n of_o his_o kingdom_n and_o do_v his_o will_n because_o even_o then_o when_o he_o relieve_v the_o necessity_n of_o his_o that_o call_n upon_o he_o his_o name_n be_v hallow_v his_o kingdom_n come_v and_o that_o be_v perform_v which_o be_v agreeable_a to_o his_o will._n this_o can_v but_o minister_v hope_n and_o comfort_n unto_o we_o in_o all_o our_o necessity_n that_o his_o honour_n and_o glory_n be_v after_o a_o manner_n darken_v in_o our_o distress_n and_o as_o it_o be_v suffer_v in_o the_o same_o which_o the_o lord_n god_n can_v but_o erect_v and_o advance_v and_o therefore_o favour_v our_o distress_n whereunto_o his_o own_o honour_n be_v so_o near_o join_v now_o let_v we_o pray_v etc_n etc_n ¶_o the_o xvij_o lecture_n upon_o the_o 12._o and_o 13._o verse_n 12_o and_o forgive_v we_o our_o debt_n as_o we_o also_o forgive_v our_o debtor_n 13_o and_o lead_v we_o not_o into_o temptation_n but_o deliver_v we_o from_o evil_a for_o thou_o be_v
