for_o god_n nor_o his_o work_n no_o long_o but_o for_o their_o calf_n their_o own_o devising_n and_o their_o interest_n which_o they_o have_v create_v to_o themselves_o and_o whatsoever_o oppose_v that_o or_o be_v contrary_n to_o that_o although_o it_o be_v never_o so_o precious_a in_o the_o
eye_n of_o god_n as_o his_o people_n be_v for_o he_o say_v they_o be_v as_o the_o apple_n of_o his_o eye_n must_v be_v trample_v upon_o &_o bring_v under_o let_v we_o learn_v from_o hence_o not_o to_o trust_v to_o man_n who_o breath_n be_v in_o his_o nostril_n but_o in_o the_o live_a god_n who_o be_v only_o faithful_a and_o true_a to_o the_o end_n 2._o we_o may_v here_o observe_v the_o utmost_a limit_n that_o a_o jehonadab_n will_v go_v he_o will_v run_v on_o to_o the_o very_a gate_n of_o heaven_n but_o he_o be_v so_o swell_a with_o the_o venom_n of_o self-righteousness_n the_o honour_n and_o glory_n of_o this_o world_n that_o he_o can_v enter_v that_o straight_a gate_n but_o in_o matter_n of_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n the_o golden_a calf_n the_o invention_n of_o man_n devise_v will_v satisfy_v he_o well_o enough_o that_o that_o will_v please_v his_o prince_n will_v content_v he_o he_o will_v be_v outward_o holy_a and_o zealous_a for_o god_n make_v good_a and_o wholesome_a law_n for_o the_o regulate_v of_o the_o outward_a man_n he_o will_v command_v his_o household_n and_o family_n to_o exercise_v the_o virtue_n of_o temperance_n you_o shall_v drink_v no_o wine_n neither_o you_o nor_o your_o son_n for_o ever_o he_o will_v not_o have_v a_o drunkard_n in_o his_o house_n he_o will_v go_v high_o yet_o command_v covetousness_n from_o among_o his_o family_n and_o follower_n they_o must_v not_o build_v house_n nor_o sow_v seed_n nor_o plant_v vineyard_n nor_o have_v any_o see_v how_o virtuous_a our_o jehonadab_n be_v where_o shall_v we_o find_v his_o fellow_n sure_o there_o be_v none_o like_o he_o thus_o jehonadab_n inherit_v the_o praise_n of_o the_o earth_n the_o reward_n of_o his_o virtue_n but_o here_o be_v a_o spot_n in_o this_o beautiful_a face_n his_o end_n which_o be_v only_o this_o that_o they_o may_v live_v long_o in_o the_o world_n that_o you_o may_v live_v many_o day_n in_o the_o land_n etc._n etc._n all_o his_o advantage_n can_v raise_v he_o god_n speed_n who_o can_v say_v now_o black_a be_v his_o eye_n jehu_n can_v not_o he_o question_v not_o the_o affection_n of_o his_o heart_n to_o the_o work_n but_o to_o he_o to_o his_o for_o iehu_n heart_n be_v real_o set_v upon_o that_o present_a work_n of_o root_a out_o and_o destroy_v the_o house_n of_o ahab_n and_o baal_n but_o jehu_n know_v iehonadab_n heart_n be_v right_a to_o the_o work_n of_o reformation_n and_o he_o profess_v his_o so_o too_o and_o here_o lie_v the_o question_n be_v thy_o heart_n right_a for_o i_o for_o my_o person_n my_o interest_n my_o sit_v on_o the_o throne_n my_o govern_v the_o people_n in_o the_o place_n of_o ahab_n as_o my_o heart_n be_v right_a with_o thy_o heart_n for_o that_o which_o thou_o desire_v reformation_n predecessor_n these_o will_v not_o stand_v with_o the_o new-made_a interest_n of_o his_o prince_n and_o therefore_o like_o a_o good_a subject_n and_o friend_n he_o be_v silent_a as_o to_o that_o leave_v it_o for_o some_o other_o and_o more_o fit_a season_n but_o to_o satisfy_v his_o conscience_n and_o to_o salve_v his_o reputation_n among_o good_a man_n he_o make_v order_n for_o the_o outward_a deportment_n between_o man_n and_o man_n and_o set_v no_o such_o a_o end_n to_o be_v his_o scope_n as_o have_v the_o face_n of_o a_o promise_n withit_z yea_o be_v part_n of_o a_o promse_n but_o it_o be_v but_o the_o outside_n the_o bottom_n of_o the_o promise_n his_o heart_n never_o dive_v into_o it_o be_v not_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o god_n himself_o in_o a_o promise_n but_o of_o this_o world_n in_o a_o promise_n that_o be_v the_o great_a aim_n and_o end_n of_o all_o his_o way_n that_o your_o day_n may_v be_v long_o in_o the_o land_n not_o that_o you_o may_v enjoy_v god_n in_o his_o own_o high_a appointment_n at_o jerusalem_n no_o that_o will_v offend_v his_o prince_n and_z alas_o tender_a heart_n he_o be_v loath_a to_o grieve_v he_o to_o who_o he_o be_v so_o much_o behold_v thus_o we_o see_v how_o far_o a_o jehonadab_n will_v go_v no_o further_o than_o he_o can_v drag_v his_o prince_n along_o with_o he_o if_o he_o stay_v at_o the_o calf_n and_o admire_v their_o golden_a glory_n jehonadab_n will_v
