mean_n of_o deliverance_n from_o all_o outward_a affliction_n nay_o say_v god_n if_o so_o be_v that_o they_o will_v rely_v upon_o i_o and_o exercise_v their_o faith_n upon_o that_o great_a promise_n the_o thought_n of_o god_n for_o the_o good_a of_o mankind_n be_v very_o great_a and_o very_o glorious_a they_o be_v some_o high_a thing_n some_o glorious_a thing_n that_o god_n do_v aim_n at_o for_o mankind_n oh_o raise_v up_o therefore_o your_o thought_n let_v all_o that_o be_v but_o man_n raise_v up_o their_o thought_n and_o think_v sure_o there_o be_v some_o great_a happiness_n for_o the_o child_n of_o man_n god_n have_v reveal_v it_o from_o heaven_n when_o he_o have_v tell_v we_o that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o wonderful_a redeemer_n come_v into_o the_o earth_n but_o oh_o you_o will_v at_o length_n bring_v every_o believer_n to_o such_o a_o height_n of_o glory_n as_o before_o man_n and_o angel_n it_o shall_v be_v declare_v by_o the_o glory_n of_o your_o soul_n that_o jesus_n christ_n be_v a_o wonderful_a redeemer_n such_o glory_n thou_o may_v have_v we_o can_v tell_v the_o particular_n if_o we_o shall_v go_v to_o open_v the_o happiness_n of_o the_o saint_n what_o it_o as_o if_o there_o be_v no_o other_o save_v in_o all_o the_o world_n but_o thyself_o yet_o jesus_n christ_n will_v manifest_v himself_o wonderful_a in_o thy_o salvation_n for_o indeed_o that_o be_v that_o that_o he_o aim_v at_o to_o be_v wonderful_a in_o the_o salvation_n of_o his_o saint_n in_o bring_v they_o unto_o glory_n and_o that_o be_v the_o comfort_n of_o all_o believer_n from_o this_o and_o what_o the_o riches_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o inheritance_n in_o the_o saint_n and_o what_o be_v the_o exceed_a greatness_n of_o his_o power_n to_o us-ward_n who_o believe_v and_o in_o the_o three_o of_o the_o ephesian_n from_o the_o 14_o verse_n to_o the_o 20._o for_o this_o cause_n i_o bow_v my_o knee_n unto_o the_o father_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n of_o who_o the_o be_v darken_v in_o the_o soul_n in_o comparison_n of_o jesus_n christ_n second_o if_o christ_n be_v so_o great_a a_o wonder_n then_o o_o how_o vile_a a_o thing_n be_v it_o for_o the_o heart_n of_o have_v hope_n to_o be_v save_v second_o again_o those_o hope_n that_o be_v to_o be_v raze_v be_v hope_n that_o be_v not_o wrought_v in_o the_o soul_n by_o the_o power_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n in_o the_o forename_a chapter_n the_o god_n of_o hope_n fill_v you_o with_o all_o joy_n and_o peace_n in_o believe_v that_o you_o may_v abound_v in_o hope_n through_o the_o power_n of_o the_o holy_a with_o we_o and_o grow_v up_o with_o we_o all_o the_o day_n of_o our_o life_n i_o say_v it_o spring_v from_o a_o root_n of_o nature_n and_o so_o the_o hope_n of_o most_o people_n they_o be_v no_o other_o but_o such_o as_o spring_n from_o a_o root_n of_o nature_n come_v from_o one_o to_o another_o and_o ask_v they_o do_v you_o think_v to_o be_v save_v ay_o i_o hope_v so_o how_o long_o have_v you_o hope_v so_o ever_o since_o i_o can_v remember_v i_o thank_v god_n i_o i_o think_v so_o it_o be_v a_o hope_n that_o spring_v out_o of_o the_o root_n of_o nature_n and_o therefore_o you_o have_v have_v it_o always_o whereas_o the_o true_a hope_n of_o the_o godly_a for_o salvation_n it_o be_v a_o hope_n wrought_v in_o their_o heart_n by_o the_o almighty_a power_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o i_o appeal_v to_o you_o now_o what_o almighty_a power_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v you_o feel_v in_o your_o heart_n to_o raise_v up_o those_o hope_n that_o you_o have_v in_o you_o for_o certain_o the_o grace_n of_o hope_n have_v a_o difficulty_n in_o it_o as_o well_o as_o any_o grace_n whatsoever_o now_o all_o people_n almost_o find_v a_o easiness_n in_o that_o but_o here_o the_o scripture_n make_v it_o to_o be_v the_o glory_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o raise_v hope_n in_o any_o creature_n therefore_o those_o hope_n that_o arise_v from_o a_o root_n of_o nature_n that_o be_v not_o wrought_v by_o a_o almighty_a power_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n in_o the_o heart_n must_v be_v raze_v down_o do_v but_o put_v your_o soul_n to_o this_o question_n i_o have_v hope_n to_o they_o say_v in_o the_o act_n that_o they_o have_v not_o so_o much_o as_o hear_v whether_o there_o be_v any_o holy_a ghost_n or_o no_o
yet_o may_v not_o i_o have_v such_o a_o hope_n as_o i_o have_v in_o god_n mercy_n oh_o the_o hope_n that_o will_v bring_v to_o salvation_n be_v such_o a_o hope_n as_o be_v raise_v by_o the_o power_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n now_o if_o our_o hope_n be_v raise_v by_o the_o power_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n than_o they_o will_v have_v much_o of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n in_o they_o and_o suitable_a to_o your_o hope_n so_o do_v the_o holy_a ghost_n come_v into_o your_o heart_n and_o dwell_v in_o your_o heart_n and_o if_o it_o come_v in_o and_o dwell_v in_o your_o heart_n than_o it_o do_v inlighten_v your_o heart_n it_o do_v act_n and_o guide_v you_o you_o be_v lead_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n in_o your_o way_n now_o can_v you_o say_v that_o in_o the_o course_n of_o your_o life_n it_o be_v the_o holy_a ghost_n that_o guide_v you_o that_o you_o be_v carry_v on_o by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o not_o by_o your_o own_o spirit_n it_o be_v true_a the_o best_a of_o all_o may_v be_v act_v by_o their_o own_o spirit_n in_o some_o time_n of_o temptation_n but_o for_o the_o course_n of_o their_o life_n they_o be_v act_v and_o guide_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n their_o life_n be_v such_o as_o those_o that_o live_v by_o they_o may_v say_v here_o be_v one_o that_o be_v act_v and_o guide_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n now_o can_v you_o say_v so_o certain_o if_o you_o have_v true_a hope_n for_o salvation_n it_o be_v raise_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o if_o it_o be_v raise_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n it_o do_v act_v your_o life_n in_o the_o way_n of_o holiness_n three_o those_o hope_n must_v be_v raze_v down_o that_o be_v not_o lively_a hope_n and_o purge_v hope_n i_o will_v put_v they_o both_o together_o that_o be_v not_o lively_a that_o you_o have_v in_o 1_o pet._n 1.3_o resurrection_n of_o jesus_n christ_n from_o the_o dead_a here_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n in_o this_o scripture_n first_o that_o the_o hope_n of_o the_o saint_n be_v lively_a hope_n that_o be_v a_o hope_n as_o be_v mighty_o work_v in_o they_o it_o will_v not_o suffer_v their_o heart_n to_o lie_v dead_a in_o any_o way_n of_o wickedness_n indeed_o it_o may_v be_v with_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o saint_n as_o it_o be_v with_o a_o fountain_n of_o live_a water_n that_o may_v have_v some_o dirt_n cast_v into_o it_o but_o it_o be_v a_o live_a spring_n it_o work_v out_o that_o dirt_n so_o the_o hope_v you_o have_v have_v that_o be_v not_o such_o must_v be_v raze_v down_o to_o the_o ground_n if_o ever_o you_o will_v be_v save_v at_o last_o the_o nine_o sermon_n on_o the_o excellency_n of_o professor_n of_o religion_n yet_o if_o upon_o examination_n they_o can_v find_v that_o the_o save_a work_n of_o god_n be_v not_o wrought_v in_o their_o heart_n and_o upon_o that_o can_v conclude_v lord_n it_o be_v to_o begin_v for_o aught_o i_o know_v i_o must_v begin_v the_o work_n again_o and_o better_o it_o be_v to_o begin_v twice_o than_o be_v damn_v once_o therefore_o whatsoever_o become_v of_o i_o i_o will_v begin_v again_o this_o be_v a_o good_a sign_n suppose_v you_o shall_v begin_v again_o and_o it_o may_v be_v you_o think_v too_o ill_o of_o yourselves_o for_o it_o may_v be_v there_o be_v some_o truth_n in_o your_o hope_n or_o heart_n that_o you_o can_v not_o see_v yet_o there_o be_v no_o great_a danger_n in_o this_o that_o that_o be_v good_a will_v hold_v though_o you_o the_o great_a matter_n of_o their_o salvation_n i_o say_v it_o be_v the_o ready_a way_n for_o they_o to_o do_v as_o if_o they_o be_v to_o begin_v again_o rather_o than_o to_o spend_v time_n in_o look_v out_o their_o old_a evidence_n as_o a_o man_n perhaps_o that_o have_v lose_v his_o evidence_n may_v have_v they_o renew_v with_o less_o charge_n and_o cost_n than_o he_o can_v
in_o his_o son_n and_o see_v he_o bring_v into_o such_o a_o low_a condition_n not_o only_o to_o be_v in_o the_o form_n of_o a_o servant_n but_o in_o the_o form_n i_o say_v and_o similitude_n of_o a_o evil_a servant_n to_o be_v beat_v and_o so_o beat_v by_o himself_o and_o all_o this_o to_o please_v he_o certain_o there_o be_v some_o great_a matter_n in_o it_o that_o god_n the_o father_n shall_v design_n that_o god_n have_v to_o bring_v about_o by_o such_o a_o way_n 10_o and_o then_o further_o the_o humiliation_n of_o christ_n be_v wonderful_a in_o regard_n of_o the_o efficacy_n of_o his_o humiliation_n that_o by_o his_o death_n all_o the_o wrath_n and_o the_o justice_n of_o god_n shall_v be_v as_o it_o be_v swallow_v up_o in_o reference_n to_o all_o the_o elect_a that_o the_o wrath_n and_o justice_n of_o god_n shall_v be_v swallow_v up_o in_o a_o few_o day_n suffer_v of_o jesus_n christ_n of_o this_o man_n jesus_n christ_n that_o god_n shall_v account_v it_o as_o much_o as_o if_o of_o christ_n humiliation_n it_o be_v in_o reference_n unto_o god_n the_o father_n and_o it_o be_v in_o reference_n unto_o the_o saint_n i_o say_v in_o reference_n unto_o the_o father_n it_o satisfy_v all_o his_o justice_n and_o wrath_n and_o in_o reference_n unto_o the_o elect_a one_o it_o be_v that_o which_o take_v away_o the_o sting_n and_o the_o venom_n of_o all_o their_o humiliation_n and_o suffering_n to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n though_o god_n have_v so_o appoint_v that_o his_o saint_n that_o he_o set_v his_o heart_n upon_o to_o do_v good_a unto_o for_o ever_o shall_v here_o of_o the_o world_n to_o the_o end_n be_v look_v upon_o by_o god_n the_o father_n as_o suffer_v in_o he_o as_o die_v in_o he_o as_o be_v make_v a_o curse_n in_o he_o as_o the_o first_o adam_n be_v a_o common_a person_n and_o god_n look_v upon_o all_o mankind_n as_o dead_a in_o he_o in_o adam_n so_o the_o second_o adam_n be_v a_o common_a person_n and_o in_o his_o death_n all_o the_o elect_a be_v look_v upon_o as_o die_v and_o so_o as_o satisfy_n god_n wrath_n for_o their_o sin_n in_o their_o own_o person_n but_o virtual_o in_o he_o as_o in_o a_o head_n and_o in_o this_o christ_n be_v wonderful_a in_o his_o humiliation_n and_o indeed_o we_o do_v not_o understand_v christ_n humiliation_n aright_o except_o we_o understand_v it_o thus_o we_o sometime_o speak_v of_o the_o great_a suffering_n of_o christ_n and_o so_o far_o we_o understand_v perhaps_o that_o this_o be_v for_o we_o that_o he_o die_v for_o we_o but_o we_o do_v not_o understand_v that_o we_o die_v in_o he_o and_o that_o he_o be_v a_o common_a person_n and_o all_o the_o elect_a be_v look_v upon_o as_o in_o he_o as_o suffer_v in_o he_o and_o satisfy_v god_n wrath_n in_o he_o why_o thus_o we_o be_v to_o exercise_v our_o faith_n upon_o christ_n humiliation_n and_o indeed_o this_o be_v the_o mystery_n of_o the_o humiliation_n of_o jesus_n christ_n glory_n christ_n by_o suffering_n enter_v into_o glory_n 13_o and_o further_o christ_n be_v wonderful_a in_o his_o humiliation_n in_o this_o that_o by_o such_o a_o way_n he_o enter_v into_o his_o glory_n that_o when_o god_n intend_v the_o great_a height_n of_o glory_n to_o a_o creature_n that_o ever_o be_v or_o ever_o shall_v be_v that_o yet_o he_o will_v have_v such_o a_o way_n to_o lead_v unto_o it_o as_o that_o christ_n shall_v first_o be_v possible_a for_o a_o creature_n to_o attain_v unto_o here_o be_v the_o wonderful_a counsel_n of_o god_n the_o wonderful_a work_n of_o god_n now_o you_o know_v that_o so_o it_o be_v in_o christ_n the_o scripture_n say_v ought_v he_o not_o to_o suffer_v these_o thing_n and_o so_o to_o enter_v into_o his_o glory_n god_n manifest_v in_o he_o what_o way_n he_o will_v have_v to_o bring_v we_o unto_o glory_n that_o be_v by_o the_o way_n of_o suffering_n by_o the_o way_n of_o affliction_n by_o the_o way_n of_o trouble_n to_o pave_v the_o way_n to_o glory_n by_o such_o kind_n of_o pavement_n as_o this_o this_o be_v the_o wonderful_a work_n of_o god_n 14_o and_o in_o this_o further_o here_o be_v the_o most_o wonderful_a argument_n of_o god_n hatred_n to_o sin_n sin_n in_o christ_n suffering_n appear_v god_n hatred_n of_o sin_n that_o possible_o can_v be_v imagine_v and_o wonderfull_a pattern_n &_o example_n of_o self-denial_n that_o ever_o be_v in_o the_o world_n christ_n be_v wonderful_a in_o this_o in_o that_o in_o he_o there_o be_v hold_v out_o the_o most_o wonderful_a argument_n of_o god_n hatred_n of_o sin_n as_o if_o god_n will_v say_v i_o will_v set_v my_o infinite_a wisdom_n on_o work_n to_o find_v out_o a_o argument_n to_o manifest_v my_o hatred_n to_o sin_n there_o can_v not_o have_v be_v a_o great_a a_o infinite_a wisdom_n can_v not_o have_v find_v a_o great_a manifestation_n of_o the_o hatred_n of_o sin_n and_o then_o he_o be_v in_o his_o humiliation_n self-denial_n christ_n in_o suffer_v a_o pattern_n of_o self-denial_n i_o say_v the_o pattern_n of_o the_o great_a self-denial_n that_o ever_o be_v or_o ever_o can_v be_v god_n hold_v forth_o his_o own_o son_n to_o be_v the_o pattern_n of_o self-denial_n to_o all_o the_o world_n the_o lord_n see_v how_o we_o be_v altogether_o for_o ourselves_o how_o hard_o it_o be_v for_o we_o to_o deny_v ourselves_o well_o say_v god_n i_o will_v not_o only_o require_v of_o you_o that_o you_o shall_v deny_v yourselves_o for_o i_o as_o your_o duty_n and_o bind_v as_o creature_n to_o do_v it_o to_o your_o creator_n but_o i_o will_v send_v into_o the_o world_n such_o a_o pattern_n of_o self-denial_n as_o it_o be_v impossible_a for_o man_n or_o angel_n to_o imagine_v a_o more_o wonderful_a pattern_n of_o self-denial_n my_o son_n that_o be_v equal_a with_o myself_o to_o come_v in_o the_o form_n of_o a_o in_o the_o humiliation_n of_o jesus_n christ_n christ_n wonderful_a in_o his_o conquest_n but_o now_o it_o follow_v further_o that_o christ_n likewise_o be_v wonderful_a in_o his_o conquest_n he_o be_v the_o most_o glorious_a and_o wonderful_a conqueror_n that_o ever_o be_v in_o the_o world_n for_o first_o what_o do_v he_o conquer_v what_o do_v he_o triumph_v over_o what_o he_o have_v conquer_v even_o divine_a justice_n itself_o as_o i_o may_v so_o speak_v the_o law_n god_n wrath_n and_o justice_n come_v even_o fight_v as_o it_o be_v against_o jesus_n christ_n and_o christ_n encounter_v with_o they_o yea_o he_o encounter_v with_o the_o devil_n and_o with_o hell_n and_o with_o death_n all_o these_o be_v enemy_n that_o jesus_n christ_n encounter_v withal_o and_o certain_o have_v any_o one_o but_o see_v christ_n go_v into_o the_o list_n to_o encounter_v with_o these_o combatant_n he_o can_v not_o but_o have_v stand_v amaze_v at_o it_o oh_o what_o will_v become_v of_o this_o champion_n that_o be_v enter_v into_o such_o a_o combat_n as_o this_o be_v but_o stay_v but_o a_o little_a and_o you_o shall_v see_v he_o lead_v captivity_n captive_a you_o shall_v see_v he_o other_o conqueror_n they_o may_v conquer_v man_n and_o kill_v they_o but_o they_o can_v conquer_v death_n itself_o now_o jesus_n christ_n conquest_n be_v over_o death_n its_o self_n to_o have_v the_o very_a key_n of_o death_n and_o that_o follow_v death_n and_o hell_n and_o further_o which_o make_v the_o wonder_n of_o his_o conquest_n he_o do_v conquer_v death_n by_o die_v that_o be_v the_o wonder_n of_o it_o what_o man_n conquer_v his_o enemy_n by_o be_v slay_v himself_o jesus_n christ_n do_v so_o he_o conquer_v all_o his_o enemy_n that_o come_v against_o he_o he_o conquer_v they_o by_o die_v and_o therefore_o in_o col._n 2._o it_o be_v speak_v of_o christ_n come_v to_o die_v upon_o the_o cross_n and_o have_v spoil_v principality_n and_o power_n he_o make_v a_o show_n of_o they_o they_o open_o triumph_v over_o they_o in_o it_o we_o can_v imagine_v somewhat_o of_o christ_n triumph_n now_o in_o heaven_n sit_v at_o the_o right_a hand_n of_o the_o father_n when_o he_o ascend_v into_o heaven_n there_o he_o triumph_v but_o to_o imagine_v a_o triumph_n of_o christ_n in_o his_o cross_n when_o his_o enemy_n be_v scorn_v and_o contemn_v he_o that_o then_o he_o shall_v spoil_v principality_n and_o power_n and_o upon_o the_o cross_a triumph_n over_o they_o this_o be_v a_o great_a mystery_n of_o godliness_n and_o herein_o be_v the_o wonder_n of_o christ_n conquest_n of_o christ_n triumph_n and_o then_o further_o the_o wonder_n of_o the_o triumph_n of_o christ_n consist_v in_o this_o that_o he_o have_v not_o only_o vanquish_v all_o the_o enemy_n of_o his_o people_n but_o he_o have_v vanquish_v they_o by_o his_o own_o power_n conqueror_n have_v use_v of_o the_o strength_n of_o other_o but_o christ_n have_v strength_n enough_o of_o his_o own_o without_o any_o addition_n and_o he_o do_v not_o only_o quell_v the_o adversary_n but_o he_o turn_v all_o into_o good_a to_o his_o people_n it_o be_v one_o thing_n for_o a_o conqueror_n to_o overcome_v a_o enemy_n so_o as_o a_o enemy_n shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o do_v any_o more_o hurt_n to_o those_o that_o belong_v to_o he_o and_o another_o thing_n to_o subdue_v they_o so_o far_o as_o to_o make_v they_o all_o to_o be_v servant_n to_o he_o that_o be_v a_o great_a conquest_n man_n by_o a_o strong_a army_n may_v be_v a_o conqueror_n by_o kill_v his_o enemy_n and_o so_o never_o to_o hear_v of_o they_o measure_n in_o thyself_o that_o be_v christ_n have_v put_v such_o a_o principle_n into_o thy_o heart_n as_o will_v conquer_v all_o thy_o enemy_n that_o come_v against_o thou_o in_o due_a time_n so_o
