that_o superiority_n i._o the_o former_a be_v not_o only_o a_o duty_n but_o the_o ground_n of_o all_o other_o duty_n whatsoever_o for_o till_o the_o wife_n be_v full_o satisfy_v about_o the_o superiority_n of_o her_o husband_n no_o duty_n will_v be_v perform_v by_o she_o as_o it_o ought_v therefore_o wife_n ought_v to_o learn_v this_o point_n in_o the_o first_o place_n viz._n that_o their_o husband_n be_v their_o superior_n which_o clear_o appear_v 1_o by_o the_o order_n of_o creation_n the_o man_n be_v first_o create_v and_o thereupon_o have_v the_o birthright_n and_o heir_n together_o of_o the_o grace_n of_o life_n yet_o god_n have_v so_o express_o appoint_v subjection_n on_o the_o wife_n part_n it_o ought_v to_o be_v acknowledge_v ii_o as_o the_o wife_n ought_v to_o acknowledge_v and_o yield_v a_o superiority_n in_o her_o husband_n so_o she_o ought_v to_o put_v in_o practice_n such_o duty_n as_o do_v issue_n and_o flow_v from_o the_o acknowledgement_n thereof_o which_o may_v be_v branch_v into_o three_o particular_n 1_o honour_n this_o god_n require_v of_o all_o inferior_n towards_o their_o superior_n 12_o in_o the_o five_o commandment_n and_o therefore_o be_v a_o duty_n incubent_fw-la upon_o all_o wife_n in_o reference_n to_o their_o husband_n who_o be_v their_o superior_n as_o be_v their_o lord_n guide_n and_o head_n this_o honour_n wife_n ought_v to_o express_v 1_o by_o their_o inward_a esteem_n of_o their_o husband_n account_v they_o worthy_a of_o honour_n for_o their_o place_n sake_n because_o they_o be_v their_o husband_n whether_o they_o be_v rich_a or_o poor_a elder_a or_o young_a than_o self_n 2_o by_o their_o outward_a respect_n which_o they_o shall_v manifest_v both_o by_o their_o reverend_a carriage_n and_o speech_n give_v they_o such_o title_n as_o signify_v superiority_n and_o savour_n of_o respect_n 2_o another_o branch_n of_o the_o wife_n subjection_n be_v meekness_n which_o she_o ought_v to_o show_v 1_o in_o a_o quiet_a take_n of_o reproof_n from_o her_o husband_n as_o it_o be_v the_o husband_n duty_n to_o reprove_v his_o wife_n upon_o just_a occasion_n so_o it_o be_v her_o duty_n to_o take_v it_o with_o all_o meekness_n and_o mildness_n and_o to_o endeavour_v to_o amend_v and_o reform_v what_o be_v just_o reprove_v yea_o though_o the_o husband_n shall_v chance_v to_o reprove_v his_o wife_n wrongful_o as_o even_o the_o best_a and_o wise_a sometime_o may_v do_v it_o will_v be_v a_o part_n of_o wisdom_n in_o the_o wife_n rather_o to_o take_v it_o meek_o and_o patient_o than_o to_o break_v forth_o into_o passionate_a expression_n yet_o in_o such_o a_o case_n she_o may_v clear_v she_o own_o innocency_n and_o show_v her_o husband_n mistake_v but_o if_o he_o will_v not_o believe_v she_o or_o turn_v away_o from_o she_o she_o ought_v to_o bear_v it_o with_o meekness_n and_o mildness_n 2_o in_o be_v willing_a to_o be_v advise_v by_o her_o husband_n and_o ready_a to_o follow_v his_o good_a advice_n yet_o 〈◊〉_d the_o wife_n have_v a_o clear_a sight_n and_o see_v better_a than_o her_o husband_n what_o god_n have_v command_v though_o she_o may_v not_o usurp_v authority_n over_o her_o husband_n 12_o yet_o she_o may_v and_o must_v in_o all_o humility_n persuade_v and_o advise_v he_o to_o that_o which_o be_v good_a and_o happy_a be_v that_o husband_n if_o he_o can_v see_v his_o own_o happiness_n in_o who_o bosom_n the_o lord_n have_v lay_v so_o good_a a_o counsellor_n 3_o another_o branch_n of_o the_o wife_n subjection_n be_v obedience_n and_o indeed_o this_o be_v the_o principal_a part_n of_o that_o subjection_n which_o the_o apostle_n require_v of_o wife_n to_o their_o husband_n 22._o wife_n submit_v yourselves_o unto_o your_o own_o
