that_o have_v taste_v of_o it_o so_o there_o be_v none_o can_v discern_v nor_o judge_v of_o the_o nature_n of_o faith_n but_o they_o that_o have_v feel_v it_o
whether_o god_n angel_n or_o man_n second_o whosoever_o he_o be_v that_o make_v they_o holy_a by_o what_o mean_n and_o way_n he_o make_v they_o holy_a and_o by_o the_o consideration_n of_o these_o two_o we_o shall_v come_v to_o the_o consideration_n and_o right_n view_v of_o the_o sanctification_n of_o the_o element_n for_o the_o first_o we_o say_v that_o god_n be_v only_o he_o that_o may_v pestilentious_a boil_v for_o the_o name_n which_o be_v give_v to_o the_o boil_v be_v the_o same_o name_n which_o be_v give_v to_o the_o botch_n of_o egypt_n that_o same_o name_n which_o be_v express_v exod._n 9.9_o a_o mattery_a kind_n of_o boil_v break_v out_o into_o many_o head_n for_o so_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o word_n signify_v the_o most_o dangerous_a and_o deadly_a kind_n of_o plague_n that_o be_v in_o the_o day_n of_o that_o king_n in_o deed_n since_o as_o the_o world_n have_v grow_v in_o wickedness_n so_o it_o have_v bring_v forth_o more_o dangerous_a kind_n of_o botch_n then_o before_o the_o experience_n whereof_o this_o town_n have_v have_v for_o as_o man_n be_v ingenious_a to_o invent_v new_a sin_n to_o provoke_v god_n to_o wrath_n the_o lord_n be_v both_o just_a and_o prudent_a on_o the_o other_o part_n devise_v new_a plague_n to_o punish_v these_o new_a sin_n of_o man_n for_o the_o store-house_n of_o the_o lord_n judgement_n can_v never_o be_v empty_v but_o sure_o it_o be_v a_o wonderful_a matter_n that_o he_o shall_v have_v visit_v so_o godly_a a_o king_n with_o so_o terrible_a a_o both_o in_o respect_n that_o this_o plague_n proceed_v common_o from_o his_o hot_a rage_n and_o wrath_n for_o from_o his_o wrath_n it_o take_v these_o name_n ofttimes_o as_o when_o it_o be_v call_v the_o finger_n of_o the_o lord_n his_o fear_n by_o night_n his_o fly_a arrow_n by_o day_n and_o the_o devour_a plague_n now_o i_o say_v the_o matter_n be_v wonderful_a that_o he_o love_v this_o king_n so_o well_o shall_v so_o extreme_o have_v plague_v he_o in_o the_o sight_n of_o the_o whole_a world_n what_o shall_v this_o teach_v we_o this_o visitation_n of_o the_o king_n teach_v we_o two_o necessary_a lesson_n first_o it_o teach_v we_o not_o to_o measure_v the_o favour_n and_o hatred_n of_o god_n by_o any_o external_a thing_n on_o the_o earth_n for_o if_o we_o look_v to_o the_o visitation_n of_o god_n upon_o his_o child_n if_o we_o look_v to_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o plague_n and_o affliction_n either_o in_o quantity_n or_o quality_n if_o we_o look_v to_o the_o long_a continuance_n &_o diuturnity_n of_o the_o plague_n in_o the_o judgement_n of_o man_n and_o in_o the_o judgement_n of_o he_o that_o be_v afflict_v sometime_o it_o shall_v come_v to_o pass_v that_o he_o shall_v think_v himself_o in_o a_o worse_a case_n than_o any_o of_o the_o reprobate_n but_o howsoever_o it_o be_v so_o esteem_v in_o the_o heart_n and_o judgement_n of_o man_n yet_o it_o be_v far_o otherwise_o in_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n for_o there_o lie_v hide_v to_o that_o time_n when_o the_o king_n of_o ashur_n take_v arm_n against_o he_o which_o be_v the_o 13._o year_n of_o his_o reign_n so_o it_o be_v the_o 14._o year_n of_o his_o reign_n that_o he_o fall_v into_o thâ—s_n disease_n for_o this_o godly_a king_n reign_v 29._o year_n 15._o of_o they_o be_v give_v he_o after_o his_o disease_n in_o the_o 14._o year_n of_o his_o reign_n the_o war_n begin_v and_o this_o time_n be_v relative_a to_o that_o history_n so_o it_o must_v be_v in_o the_o 14._o of_o his_o reign_n that_o he_o fall_v into_o that_o disease_n whether_o the_o disease_n be_v after_o the_o siege_n or_o during_o the_o same_o the_o judgement_n of_o the_o learned_a differ_v although_o in_o 2._o chron._n 32._o chap._n it_o appear_v that_o he_o fall_v into_o this_o disease_n after_o the_o siege_n and_o time_n of_o his_o delivery_n for_o we_o read_v in_o that_o history_n that_o the_o king_n in_o the_o mean_a time_n of_o this_o siege_n be_v build_v up_o the_o ruinous_a wall_n be_v stop_v the_o conduit_n of_o the_o water_n be_v send_v messenger_n to_o isaiah_n and_o be_v resort_v to_o the_o temple_n these_o be_v all_o argument_n of_o a_o wholesome_a and_o well_o dispose_v king_n and_o there_o be_v no_o argument_n of_o infirmity_n here_o so_o it_o appear_v that_o it_o be_v after_o the_o siege_n that_o he_o fall_v into_o this_o disease_n observation_n now_o take_v heed_n where_o my_o note_n rise_v he_o be_v scarce_o free_v from_o the_o fearful_a war_n when_o he_o fall_v into_o a_o terrible_a plague_n doctrine_n we_o see_v then_o that_o the_o estate_n of_o the_o godly_a and_o best_a prince_n be_v to_o be_v subject_a to_o continual_a tentation_n grief_n and_o vexation_n so_o that_o the_o issue_n of_o one_o trouble_n be_v the_o begin_n of_o another_o so_o it_o please_v the_o lord_n to_o exercise_v they_o and_o to_o what_o end_n i_o pray_v you_o to_o the_o end_n that_o this_o life_n with_o the_o pleasure_n and_o glory_n of_o it_o may_v become_v bitter_a to_o their_o taste_n and_o so_o they_o may_v be_v move_v to_o seek_v for_o a_o better_a and_o this_o lesson_n appertain_v to_o all_o christian_n for_o if_o thou_o be_v a_o christian_n thou_o must_v look_v for_o trouble_n of_o necessity_n thou_o must_v take_v up_o thy_o daily_a cross_n and_o follow_v christ._n as_o for_o the_o feed_v carcase_n of_o this_o world_n the_o lord_n in_o his_o righteous_a judgement_n have_v appoint_v they_o for_o slaughter_n but_o if_o thou_o be_v one_o of_o they_o who_o he_o have_v not_o appoint_v for_o slaughter_n thou_o must_v be_v subject_a to_o a_o continual_a exercise_n either_o in_o soul_n or_o in_o body_n in_o family_n or_o fame_n one_o way_n or_o other_o thou_o must_v be_v subject_a to_o a_o continual_a exercise_n for_o there_o be_v no_o way_n to_o pierce_v the_o cloud_n but_o by_o a_o continual_a tribulation_n and_o see_v it_o be_v so_o it_o become_v we_o not_o to_o have_v our_o heart_n here_o gruntle_a upon_o this_o earth_n but_o it_o become_v we_o to_o have_v our_o heart_n hoiss_v and_o our_o mind_n lift_v up_o to_o the_o heaven_n where_o our_o master_n reign_v in_o glory_n and_o to_o use_v the_o thing_n of_o this_o world_n as_o they_o may_v best_a further_n we_o to_o the_o next_o world_n or_o otherwise_o terrible_a be_v the_o judgement_n and_o incommoditie_n that_o the_o thing_n of_o this_o world_n shall_v bring_v upon_o us._n thus_o far_o concern_v the_o time_n as_o to_o the_o greatness_n of_o the_o disease_n i_o find_v it_o note_v in_o the_o verse_n which_o i_o have_v read_v by_o sundry_a thing_n first_o the_o prophet_n show_v the_o greatness_n of_o the_o disease_n whereas_o he_o say_v he_o be_v sick_a even_o to_o the_o death_n second_o the_o greatness_n of_o his_o disease_n be_v aggravate_v while_o as_o the_o prophet_n get_v command_v in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n to_o assure_v he_o of_o death_n and_o three_o the_o boil_v itself_o which_o break_v out_o be_v deadly_a and_o show_v also_o the_o weight_n of_o the_o disease_n now_o in_o this_o extremity_n the_o prophet_n visit_v he_o he_o and_o in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n enjoin_v he_o two_o thing_n first_o to_o take_v order_n with_o his_o house_n next_o to_o prepare_v he_o for_o death_n and_o to_o pull_v his_o heart_n the_o more_o from_o all_o present_a thing_n and_o all_o earthly_a comfort_n assure_v he_o of_o death_n short_o and_o for_o his_o further_a assurance_n he_o double_v the_o word_n say_v thou_o shall_v die_v and_o not_o live_v it_o be_v so_o hard_a a_o thing_n to_o have_v the_o heart_n of_o king_n pull_v from_o their_o wealth_n and_o from_o their_o glory_n the_o prophet_n in_o visit_v of_o the_o king_n brethren_n learn_v we_o a_o point_n of_o duty_n towards_o our_o disease_a brethren_n a_o point_n whereunto_o we_o be_v bind_v by_o nature_n by_o charity_n and_o by_o all_o sort_n of_o law_n but_o chief_o we_o who_o have_v the_o care_n of_o soul_n and_o represent_v isaiah_n in_o our_o office_n at_o this_o time_n chief_o we_o be_v bind_v to_o visit_v our_o brethren_n for_o at_o such_o time_n the_o devil_n be_v most_o busy_a the_o body_n of_o man_n be_v abstract_v from_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o preach_v word_n and_o old_a sin_n begin_v to_o revive_v and_o return_v to_o their_o memory_n and_o therefore_o at_o that_o time_n there_o be_v great_a need_n of_o comfort_n we_o be_v also_o inform_v here_o by_o the_o prophet_n how_o to_o propound_v our_o comfort_n lest_o we_o spend_v our_o time_n in_o idle_a and_o unprofitable_a talk_n as_o worldly_a man_n do_v to_o wit_n first_o of_o all_o that_o we_o bid_v the_o patient_n take_v order_n with_o his_o house_n that_o be_v make_v his_o testament_n and_o lay_v aside_o the_o worldly_a part_n that_o so_o his_o heart_n may_v be_v ready_a to_o go_v when_o the_o lord_n call_v on_o his_o soul_n the_o most_o part_n of_o the_o world_n be_v so_o negligent_a in_o this_o point_n of_o duty_n that_o there_o be_v very_o few_o that_o have_v their_o heart_n free_a when_o the_o lord_n knock_v but_o they_o be_v compel_v to_o leave_v their_o heart_n behind_o they_o where_o their_o treasure_n be_v or_o where_o they_o love_v best_a and_o that_o because_o they_o set_v themselves_o here_o as_o in_o a_o permanent_a city_n and_o in_o their_o life_n time_n they_o will_v not_o so_o much_o as_o once_o think_v of_o death_n but_o dream_n to_o themselves_o length_n of_o day_n and_o which_o i_o wonder_v most_o of_o there_o be_v not_o a_o man_n about_o they_o that_o will_v do_v so_o much_o as_o once_o to_o put_v they_o in_o mind_n of_o death_n yea_o not_o when_o the_o lord_n begin_v to_o strike_v but_o some_o say_v it_o will_v trouble_v he_o and_o make_v he_o heavy_a other_o come_v in_o and_o say_v they_o will_v do_v it_o but_o they_o can_v for_o tear_n and_o sorrow_n the_o doctor_n say_v nature_n be_v strong_a enough_o be_v of_o good_a comfort_n so_o that_o if_o the_o pastor_n leave_v this_o point_n of_o duty_n there_o be_v not_o a_o friend_n almost_o that_o begin_v to_o admonish_v a_o man_n until_o his_o outward_a sense_n begin_v to_o leave_v he_o now_o as_o it_o become_v the_o pastor_n to_o propound_v this_o so_o it_o become_v the_o patient_n to_o obey_v it_o for_o this_o command_n be_v not_o give_v by_o man_n but_o by_o god_n for_o isaiah_n give_v it_o in_o the_o name_n of_o god_n and_o it_o be_v not_o only_o give_v to_o king_n but_o it_o reach_v to_o all_o master_n of_o family_n whosoever_o for_o the_o lord_n have_v will_v they_o to_o have_v a_o care_n of_o their_o family_n not_o only_o in_o their_o life_n time_n but_o in_o their_o death_n also_o that_o by_o this_o mean_v all_o occasion_n of_o quarrel_n and_o debate_n may_v be_v cut_v off_o after_o their_o death_n the_o patriarch_n the_o godly_a king_n they_o have_v leave_v their_o example_n register_v concern_v this_o point_n so_o that_o i_o will_v not_o insist_v at_o this_o present_a further_o in_o it_o now_o the_o worldly_a part_n be_v set_v aside_o and_o the_o conscience_n put_v at_o rest_n the_o soul_n be_v prepare_v to_o hear_v of_o death_n and_o so_o the_o prophet_n come_v in_o the_o
natural_a light_n much_o more_o supernatural_a who_o think_v that_o the_o lord_n have_v take_v away_o his_o hand_n suppose_v he_o strike_v not_o indeed_o he_o have_v withdraw_v his_o hand_n to_o let_v we_o see_v the_o force_n of_o our_o prayer_n and_o to_o try_v we_o how_o we_o will_v use_v this_o benefit_n but_o see_v it_o be_v so_o high_o abuse_v if_o there_o be_v no_o other_o thing_n but_o the_o birth_n of_o iniquity_n wherewith_o the_o land_n be_v overburthen_v ere_o the_o lord_n want_v any_o mean_n to_o punish_v the_o committer_n and_o overseer_n of_o these_o iniquity_n he_o will_v rather_o punish_v the_o land_n from_o heaven_n immediate_o or_o else_o make_v it_o to_o spew_v out_o the_o inhabitant_n for_o suppose_v the_o lord_n spare_v yet_o he_o will_v not_o forgive_v this_o contempt_n rise_v by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n and_o not_o of_o ourselves_o of_o the_o which_o this_o his_o continual_a pray_v and_o praise_v of_o god_n spring_v he_o pray_v for_o strength_n in_o his_o battle_n better_a life_n that_o dwell_v in_o the_o other_o part_n of_o the_o soul_n do_v temper_n the_o fear_n mitigate_v the_o trouble_n and_o swallow_v up_o the_o pain_n of_o death_n yet_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o corruption_n that_o remain_v some_o fear_n must_v be_v and_o the_o great_a the_o corruption_n be_v the_o great_a fear_n fall_v upon_o the_o conscience_n the_o chief_a corruption_n that_o grieve_v we_o in_o the_o time_n of_o death_n be_v the_o love_n of_o the_o world_n the_o care_n of_o the_o world_n the_o inordinate_a love_n of_o flesh_n and_o blood_n so_o that_o he_o that_o will_v make_v himself_o void_a of_o fear_n must_v provide_v to_o rid_v his_o hand_n and_o his_o heart_n of_o these_o inordinate_a affection_n for_o experience_n although_o unhappy_a teach_v we_o that_o there_o be_v no_o man_n that_o can_v part_v with_o that_o he_o love_v without_o exceed_a grief_n and_o therefore_o in_o the_o point_n of_o death_n experience_n teach_v what_o it_o be_v to_o cast_v refresh_v and_o thy_o soul_n recreate_v from_o the_o great_a terror_n &_o manifold_a pang_n of_o sin_n no_o question_n the_o soul_n live_v for_o this_o be_v the_o effect_n of_o the_o right_a spirit_n and_o this_o be_v the_o right_a peace_n whereof_o the_o world_n be_v ignorant_a that_o pass_v all_o natural_a understanding_n the_o more_o thou_o make_v this_o peace_n to_o grow_v the_o more_z thou_o live_v in_o thy_o soul_n the_o more_o this_o peace_n grow_v the_o more_o sin_n decay_v the_o more_o thou_o cast_v out_o all_o that_o baggage_n of_o sin_n that_o trouble_v the_o quiet_a estate_n of_o only_a thing_n that_o sever_v we_o from_o god_n in_o who_o there_o
sun_n whereof_o you_o hear_v and_o heaven_n and_o earth_n shall_v perish_v ere_o a_o jot_n of_o his_o promise_n fail_v yet_o notwithstanding_o this_o be_v true_a that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o body_n by_o it_o so_o he_o have_v by_o it_o the_o life_n whereby_o he_o live_v in_o the_o soul_n for_o as_o there_o be_v a_o life_n and_o death_n of_o the_o body_n so_o there_o be_v a_o life_n and_o death_n of_o the_o soul_n the_o life_n of_o the_o body_n may_v be_v conjoin_v well_o with_o the_o death_n of_o the_o soul_n for_o we_o may_v live_v in_o the_o body_n and_o be_v dead_a in_o the_o soul_n at_o one_o time_n also_o the_o death_n of_o the_o body_n may_v stand_v with_o the_o life_n of_o the_o soul_n for_o we_o may_v depart_v from_o this_o life_n and_o go_v to_o a_o better_a the_o life_n of_o the_o body_n stand_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o soul_n but_o the_o life_n of_o the_o soul_n stand_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o life_n except_o our_o soul_n be_v bear_v anew_o again_o by_o the_o virtue_n of_o that_o spirit_n of_o life_n it_o be_v not_o possible_a that_o we_o can_v see_v god_n and_o taste_n of_o his_o joy_n for_o by_o nature_n we_o be_v not_o spiritual_a life_n must_v be_v whole_o put_v out_o if_o the_o spirit_n of_o life_n be_v whole_o put_v out_o there_o remain_v not_o so_o much_o as_o a_o breath_n out_o of_o the_o which_o any_o good_a cogitation_n or_o action_n may_v proceed_v if_o so_o be_v there_o be_v not_o so_o much_o as_o one_o breath_n where_o be_v all_o that_o freewill_n of_o the_o papist_n where_o be_v that_o integrity_n which_o remain_v in_o the_o filthy_a nature_n then_o i_o say_v we_o natural_o remain_v in_o the_o death_n of_o body_n and_o soul_n still_o until_o that_o by_o the_o participation_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o life_n which_o dwell_v in_o the_o body_n of_o christ_n until_o i_o say_v that_o this_o spirit_n free_v we_o from_o sin_n and_o death_n and_o so_o until_o this_o time_n we_o shall_v never_o full_a dominion_n this_o spirit_n of_o life_n we_o show_v be_v entertain_v by_o nourish_v of_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n when_o we_o edify_v ourselves_o in_o our_o most_o holy_a faith_n when_o we_o nourish_v the_o exercise_n of_o prayer_n as_o by_o the_o contrary_a the_o spirit_n be_v put_v out_o when_o by_o our_o evil_a do_n we_o put_v out_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n when_o we_o diminish_v conceive_v in_o the_o womb_n of_o the_o virgin_n and_o that_o by_o the_o mighty_a power_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n so_o that_o our_o nature_n in_o he_o be_v full_o sanctify_v by_o that_o same_o power_n and_o this_o perfect_a purity_n of_o our_o nature_n in_o his_o person_n cover_v our_o impurity_n for_o he_o be_v not_o conceive_v in_o sin_n and_o corruption_n as_o we_o be_v but_o by_o the_o power_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n who_o perfect_o sanctify_v our_o nature_n in_o he_o even_o in_o the_o moment_n of_o his_o conception_n so_o he_o be_v thorough_o purge_v his_o purity_n cover_v our_o impurity_n now_o in_o the_o three_o point_n also_o he_o be_v a_o perfect_a mediator_n for_o he_o not_o only_o satisfy_v for_o our_o sin_n but_o he_o accomplish_v the_o whole_a law_n for_o we_o yea_o and_o more_o than_o the_o law_n require_v for_o the_o second_o table_n require_v only_o that_o we_o shall_v love_v our_o neighbour_n as_o ourself_o but_o christ_n do_v more_o than_o this_o for_o none_o love_v his_o neighbour_n so_o that_o willing_o he_o will_v die_v for_o he_o so_o christ_n in_o die_v for_o we_o show_v that_o he_o love_v we_o more_o than_o the_o law_n require_v and_o so_o he_o not_o only_o accomplish_v the_o law_n for_o we_o but_o do_v more_o than_o the_o law_n require_v now_o this_o perfect_a righteousness_n of_o he_o come_v in_o between_o we_o and_o his_o father_n and_o cover_v our_o rebellion_n and_o disobedience_n or_o else_o we_o can_v not_o be_v free_a from_o condemnation_n in_o this_o point_n also_o all_o these_o to_o wit_n perfect_a purity_n perfect_a satisfaction_n and_o perfect_a righteousness_n be_v to_o be_v find_v in_o christ_n perfect_o and_o therefore_o only_a mercy_n and_o remission_n of_o sin_n be_v to_o be_v seek_v for_o in_o he_o and_o he_o that_o have_v not_o christ_n to_o be_v his_o intercessor_n that_o man_n shall_v never_o taste_v of_o mercy_n now_o let_v we_o go_v to_o the_o application_n what_o manner_n of_o intercession_n be_v dissolve_v yet_o that_o spirit_n of_o life_n that_o dwell_v in_o the_o soul_n raise_v thy_o soul_n to_o heaven_n even_o as_o the_o spirit_n of_o life_n that_o dwell_v in_o christ_n jesus_n raise_v his_o body_n from_o the_o grave_n and_o as_o the_o spirit_n of_o life_n be_v the_o only_a cause_n that_o make_v we_o to_o praise_v he_o in_o our_o body_n so_o that_o same_o spirit_n make_v we_o to_o praise_v he_o out_o of_o these_o body_n by_o reason_n suppose_v we_o be_v absent_a in_o body_n yet_o be_v present_a in_o our_o soul_n with_o the_o lord_n for_o the_o word_n rom._n 8_o be_v these_o if_o christ_n dwell_v in_o you_o suppose_v the_o body_n be_v dead_a by_o reason_n of_o sin_n yet_o the_o spirit_n be_v alive_a for_o righteousness_n sake_n the_o meaning_n of_o the_o word_n be_v suppose_v they_o that_o be_v depart_v leave_v off_o to_o praise_v the_o lord_n in_o their_o body_n and_o in_o the_o earth_n which_o he_o call_v the_o land_n of_o the_o live_n yet_o they_o leave_v not_o off_o at_o all_o now_o of_o this_o i_o shall_v mark_v one_o or_o two_o thing_n observation_n take_v up_o the_o end_n wherefore_o the_o lord_n deliver_v any_o person_n city_n or_o country_n from_o any_o trouble_n within_o or_o without_o the_o chief_a end_n of_o his_o delivery_n be_v this_o that_o that_o person_n city_n or_o country_n may_v serve_v as_o a_o instrument_n to_o preach_v this_o benefit_n if_o it_o be_v right_o measure_v and_o consider_v read_v over_o the_o scripture_n confer_v benefit_n with_o benefit_n miracle_n with_o miracle_n all_o circumstance_n be_v well_o consider_v you_o shall_v find_v that_o since_o the_o child_n of_o israel_n come_v through_o the_o red_a sea_n there_o have_v not_o be_v a_o great_a to_o what_o end_n deliver_v he_o we_o be_v it_o that_o we_o shall_v provoke_v he_o with_o great_a sin_n look_v since_o the_o fear_n of_o these_o stranger_n past_a what_o sin_n be_v there_o but_o this_o country_n have_v defile_v herself_o with_o it_o see_v you_o not_o slaughter_n in_o great_a measure_n oppression_n murder_n without_o any_o mercy_n see_v you_o not_o all_o law_n and_o equity_n trample_v under_o foot_n and_o brief_o see_v you_o forth_o at_o the_o last_o it_o must_v bring_v forth_o one_o of_o these_o two_o of_o necessity_n and_o take_v heeed_o you_o may_v chance_v to_o see_v it_o except_o the_o lord_n prevent_v it_o either_o come_v yet_o for_o the_o most_o part_n in_o your_o heart_n to_o thank_v god_n aright_o for_o your_o delivery_n therefore_o the_o lord_n be_v beginning_n to_o let_v you_o see_v that_o he_o can_v raise_v stranger_n man_n who_o have_v the_o heart_n of_o stranger_n among_o ourselves_o he_o have_v mean_n enough_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o our_o own_o bowel_n to_o punish_v this_o country_n suppose_v he_o seek_v not_o stranger_n but_o indeed_o in_o this_o late_a brag_n of_o our_o neighbour_n lord_n he_o desire_v you_o to_o go_v back_o to_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o greatness_n of_o the_o last_o benefit_n and_o if_o you_o acknowledge_v it_o right_o and_o be_v thankful_a for_o it_o there_o be_v no_o domestic_a force_n you_o need_v to_o regard_v for_o as_o to_o the_o force_n that_o can_v proceed_v any_o way_n from_o that_o man_n you_o know_v it_o and_o sure_o it_o will_v appear_v to_o i_o that_o that_o man_n have_v sell_v himself_o to_o iniquity_n and_o the_o end_n will_v declare_v it_o except_o the_o lord_n prevent_v he_o with_o his_o undeserued_a grace_n which_o i_o desire_v most_o hearty_o although_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n suppose_v there_o be_v peace_n promise_v yet_o stand_v you_o on_o your_o guard_n and_o let_v it_o not_o come_v to_o pass_v by_o your_o misbehaviour_n and_o backwardness_n that_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o the_o liberty_n of_o this_o city_n be_v impair_v in_o any_o wise_a but_o stand_v on_o your_o guard_n that_o as_o this_o city_n have_v be_v a_o terror_n to_o evil_a man_n beforetime_n so_o it_o may_v terrify_v he_o also_o for_o no_o question_n where_o god_n and_o a_o good_a quarrel_n concur_v that_o side_n shall_v have_v the_o upper_a hand_n this_o only_a by_o the_o way_n for_o it_o become_v i_o of_o my_o duty_n to_o maintain_v the_o good_a cause_n and_o to_o instruct_v you_o in_o this_o point_n of_o your_o duty_n the_o second_o thing_n that_o i_o mark_v observation_n you_o see_v the_o glory_n of_o god_n be_v ever_o conjoin_v with_o the_o life_n of_o his_o own_o so_o that_o we_o can_v advance_v god_n gloâ—ie_n but_o we_o shall_v further_o our_o own_o salvation_n and_o we_o can_v neglect_v the_o one_o but_o we_o shall_v neglect_v the_o other_o see_v thâ—n_o that_o these_o two_o be_v necessary_o conjoin_v for_o god_n sake_n let_v every_o one_o remember_v to_o set_v forward_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n in_o his_o life_n so_o far_o as_o he_o may_v according_a to_o his_o estate_n and_o calling_n this_o life_n be_v so_o miserable_a in_o itself_o and_o there_o be_v none_o that_o see_v the_o confusion_n of_o this_o country_n to_o grow_v so_o fast_o that_o can_v look_v for_o any_o redress_n of_o these_o thing_n in_o his_o own_o time_n so_o here_o beneath_o be_v no_o comfort_n all_o run_v on_o to_o such_o a_o desolation_n and_o miserable_a confusion_n that_o of_o all_o life_n of_o the_o earth_n our_o life_n be_v most_o miserable_a if_o we_o have_v not_o a_o sight_n of_o a_o better_a for_o all_o joy_n to_o be_v look_v for_o here_o beneath_o be_v take_v away_o well_o i_o leave_v this_o second_o part_n and_o come_v to_o the_o last_o the_o three_o part_n of_o this_o song_n be_v in_o this_o 20._o verse_n which_o be_v the_o conclusion_n of_o the_o whole_a song_n in_o this_o conclusion_n the_o king_n testify_v that_o he_o will_v not_o only_a praise_n god_n for_o the_o present_a for_o the_o benefit_n which_o he_o have_v receive_v but_o he_o make_v a_o solemn_a promise_n that_o so_o long_o as_o he_o live_v he_o will_v never_o forget_v this_o benefit_n all_o the_o day_n of_o his_o life_n
he_o will_v praise_v he_o yea_o praise_v he_o in_o his_o song_n he_o shall_v praise_v he_o with_o his_o instrument_n and_o he_o shall_v praise_v he_o public_o in_o the_o house_n and_o congregation_n of_o the_o lord_n because_o the_o benefit_n be_v public_a he_o shall_v praise_v he_o in_o his_o body_n because_o he_o receive_v the_o health_n thereof_o and_o he_o shall_v praise_v he_o in_o his_o dispute_v it_o have_v please_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n so_o to_o do_v and_o so_o it_o shall_v please_v us._n i_o have_v speak_v of_o the_o last_o verse_n of_o these_o two_o already_o and_o will_v that_o it_o appear_v he_o rather_o do_v the_o office_n of_o a_o doctor_n of_o physic_n then_o of_o a_o prophet_n yet_o howsoever_o it_o will_v appear_v so_o it_o be_v not_o so_o for_o the_o prophet_n be_v occupy_v at_o this_o time_n in_o utter_v of_o his_o commission_n in_o the_o which_o he_o do_v nothing_o whereof_o he_o have_v not_o a_o warrant_n therefore_o in_o the_o same_o word_n he_o do_v nothing_o unbeseeming_a the_o part_n of_o a_o true_a prophet_n and_o he_o have_v his_o special_a warrant_n in_o this_o do_n now_o what_o be_v the_o reason_n cause_n when_o as_o the_o lord_n may_v have_v do_v this_o without_o any_o ordinary_a mean_n yet_o he_o bid_v the_o prophet_n apply_v the_o same_o plaster_n he_o do_v this_o no_o question_n for_o these_o three_o end_n first_o to_o let_v the_o king_n see_v by_o this_o do_n end_n he_o will_v not_o have_v his_o ordinary_a mean_n nor_o second_v cause_n be_v contemn_v and_o suppose_v he_o may_v work_v without_o they_o yet_o he_o have_v appoint_v secondary_a cause_n to_o bring_v about_o his_o effect_n which_o he_o will_v not_o have_v contemn_v the_o second_o end_n which_o be_v the_o chief_a end_n end_n he_o see_v that_o the_o king_n faith_n be_v but_o weak_a for_o the_o prophet_n promise_v that_o within_o three_o day_n he_o shall_v pass_v up_o to_o the_o temple_n and_o the_o king_n sore_o be_v not_o come_v as_o yet_o to_o a_o maturity_n but_o rage_v on_o he_o so_o he_o think_v this_o almost_o impossible_a and_o can_v scarce_o apprehend_v the_o truth_n of_o this_o promise_n now_o to_o support_v his_o faith_n he_o use_v a_o external_a object_n for_o the_o more_o and_o the_o more_o pithy_a the_o object_n be_v the_o more_o our_o faith_n be_v stay_v and_o confirm_v therefore_o in_o the_o sacrament_n we_o have_v so_o many_o object_n to_o our_o eye_n to_o our_o hand_n &_o all_o to_o strengthen_v our_o faith_n and_o so_o he_o give_v he_o this_o mean_n to_o strengthen_v his_o faith_n &_o to_o assure_v he_o that_o it_o shall_v come_v to_o pass_v which_o the_o prophet_n promise_v the_o three_o end_n be_v end_n to_o teach_v he_o that_o the_o lord_n be_v the_o only_a physician_n as_o well_o of_o the_o body_n as_o of_o the_o soul_n he_o have_v command_v over_o all_o remedy_n and_o so_o he_o may_v stay_v or_o further_o the_o effect_n thereof_o as_o he_o please_v and_o consequent_o he_o have_v command_v over_o all_o disease_n this_o be_v certain_a and_o therefore_o except_o the_o blessing_n of_o god_n concur_v with_o these_o secondary_a thing_n there_o be_v no_o physic_n can_v avail_v or_o profit_n and_o it_o be_v so_o to_o be_v think_v of_o physician_n as_o of_o the_o husbandman_n and_o their_o husbandry_n you_o see_v when_o the_o husbandman_n have_v do_v their_o whole_a exact_a travel_n so_o that_o they_o have_v leave_v nothing_o undo_v that_o in_o they_o lie_v yet_o if_o the_o lord_n give_v not_o increase_v they_o be_v disappoint_v of_o their_o travel_n even_o so_o suppose_v physician_n propound_v remedy_n to_o be_v apply_v with_o all_o diligence_n yet_o if_o the_o lord_n bless_v not_o the_o work_n if_o he_o abstract_n his_o effect_n or_o power_n from_o the_o second_o cause_n it_o be_v not_o possible_a that_o the_o patient_n can_v be_v cure_v so_o he_o teach_v the_o disease_a and_o all_o doctor_n of_o physic_n these_o two_o lesson_n first_o he_o teach_v the_o patient_n to_o desire_v of_o god_n that_o he_o will_v give_v leave_n to_o the_o mean_n to_o work_v some_o good_a effect_n and_o let_v the_o doctor_n crave_v on_o the_o other_o side_n that_o the_o lord_n will_v bless_v his_o work_n that_o it_o may_v redound_v to_o god_n glory_n and_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o patient_n and_o where_o god_n be_v begin_v with_o and_o end_v with_o no_o doubt_n but_o the_o work_n shall_v have_v a_o good_a issue_n therefore_o in_o all_o trouble_n let_v every_o one_o have_v recourse_n unto_o god_n and_o in_o god_n use_v his_o creature_n and_o so_o god_n shall_v bless_v pastor_n himself_o through_o the_o long_a travel_n that_o he_o have_v take_v conceive_v a_o despair_n of_o the_o recovery_n of_o that_o person_n the_o apostle_n in_o this_o place_n admonish_v the_o pastor_n not_o to_o faint_v nor_o to_o conceive_v by_o his_o long_a travel_n a_o despair_n but_o though_o he_o remain_v stubborn_a yet_o to_o abide_v upon_o he_o pronounce_v the_o threatening_n and_o promise_n of_o god_n indifferent_o to_o tarry_v upon_o he_o at_o list_n and_o leisure_n why_o because_o the_o gift_n of_o repentance_n which_o turn_v the_o heart_n of_o man_n be_v not_o in_o his_o own_o hand_n nor_o be_v it_o in_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o pastor_n to_o give_v it_o but_o the_o gift_n of_o repentance_n which_o turn_v the_o heart_n of_o man_n be_v in_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n and_o god_n will_v bestow_v this_o gift_n at_o such_o time_n as_o he_o please_v &_o not_o at_o that_o time_n when_o the_o pastor_n please_v in_o like_a manner_n the_o gift_n of_o repentance_n be_v not_o visible_o wrought_v it_o be_v not_o a_o corporal_a gift_n that_o it_o may_v be_v rceeive_v by_o the_o pastor_n at_o the_o first_o hand_n when_o it_o be_v give_v and_o wrought_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n but_o it_o be_v a_o spiritual_a gift_n and_o invisible_o wrought_v in_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n and_o oft_o time_n it_o be_v wrought_v then_o when_o the_o pastor_n lest_o think_v and_o that_o
