observe_v upon_o that_o place_n the_o river_n have_v many_o wave_n one_o follow_v upon_o another_o &_o so_o be_v the_o pleasure_n of_o the_o saint_n the_o spiritual_a pleasure_n one_o wave_n one_o pleasure_n follow_v upon_o another_o and_o it_o be_v a_o deep_a river_n oh_o but_o a_o river_n may_v be_v dry_a nay_o it_o can_v be_v dry_a if_o it_o be_v maintain_v with_o a_o fountain_n and_o with_o spring_n now_o see_v what_o follow_v at_o the_o 9_o verse_n they_o shall_v satisfy_v themselves_o of_o the_o river_n of_o thy_o pleasure_n why_o for_o with_o thou_o be_v the_o fountain_n of_o life_n be_v of_o all_o other_o life_n the_o most_o communicative_a life_n a_o man_n do_v communicate_v life_n unto_o his_o child_n but_o his_o child_n be_v not_o able_a present_o assoon_o as_o it_o be_v bear_v to_o communicate_v life_n unto_o a_o other_o child_n one_o beast_n do_v communicate_v life_n unto_o another_o the_o sheep_n communicate_v life_n unto_o the_o lamb_n but_o the_o lamb_n assoon_o as_o it_o be_v bring_v forth_o be_v not_o able_a to_o communicate_v life_n to_o another_o and_o beget_v another_o and_o so_o the_o herb_n communicate_v life_n to_o another_o but_o not_o present_o assoon_o as_o it_o be_v a_o herb._n but_o now_o no_o soon_o do_v a_o man_n partake_v of_o this_o spiritual_a life_n but_o he_o be_v present_o able_a to_o communicate_v life_n unto_o another_o when_o thou_o be_v convert_v strengthen_v thy_o brethren_n 22.32_o luke_n 22.32_o no_o soon_o be_v paul_n make_v alive_a by_o another_o but_o he_o present_o go_v and_o communicate_v this_o life_n unto_o say_v this_o be_v a_o whoremonger_n or_o this_o be_v a_o rioter_n or_o this_o be_v a_o spendthrift_n and_o now_o he_o be_v return_v and_o come_v home_o to_o i_o for_o meat_n no_o but_o in_o mollify_a of_o vriah_n but_o in_o the_o matter_n of_o vriah_n and_o so_o if_o thou_o do_v repent_v and_o turn_v unto_o the_o lord_n thy_o god_n though_o thy_o sin_n have_v be_v very_o great_a in_o the_o state_n of_o thy_o death_n yet_o if_o once_o come_v to_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o this_o spiritual_a life_n the_o lord_n will_v look_v upon_o all_o thy_o former_a sin_n under_o other_o term_n and_o mollify_a consideration_n he_o will_v not_o say_v here_o be_v this_o poor_a wretch_n that_o now_o i_o do_v look_v upon_o as_o a_o
of_o faith_n and_o after_o once_o i_o understand_v this_o doctrine_n of_o free-remission_n and_o justification_n by_o faith_n alone_o than_o i_o love_v repentance_n as_o for_o the_o mortification_n of_o sin_n you_o know_v what_o the_o apostle_n say_v let_v not_o sin_n reign_v in_o your_o mortal_a body_n 14._o rom._n 6.12_o &_o 14._o or_o have_v dominion_n over_o you_o why_o for_o you_o be_v not_o under_o the_o law_n but_o under_o grace_n so_o then_o it_o be_v be_v under_o grace_n that_o do_v mortify_v sin_n and_o as_o for_o the_o matter_n of_o obedience_n you_o know_v what_o the_o sure_o justification_n by_o faith_n alone_o can_v be_v no_o enemy_n but_o must_v needs_o be_v a_o real_a friend_n unto_o all_o our_o spiritual_a life_n object_n but_o by_o way_n of_o objection_n it_o will_v be_v say_v in_o the_o three_o place_n this_o doctrine_n of_o free-remission_n and_o justification_n by_o faith_n alone_o seem_v to_o carry_v somewhat_o with_o it_o that_o be_v opposite_a unto_o grace_n and_o holiness_n for_o the_o more_o a_o man_n be_v bind_v unto_o the_o law_n and_o take_v himself_o to_o be_v so_o the_o more_o obedient_a he_o will_v be_v to_o the_o law_n but_o now_o a_o man_n never_o take_v himself_o more_o to_o be_v bind_v unto_o the_o law_n than_o when_o he_o seek_v to_o be_v justify_v by_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n and_o so_o he_o will_v be_v most_o obedient_a answ_n for_o answer_v you_o must_v know_v that_o the_o word_n law_n in_o the_o new_a testament_n be_v take_v two_o way_n either_o it_o be_v take_v for_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n thus_o if_o you_o keep_v the_o ten_o commandment_n perfect_o you_o shall_v live_v for_o ever_o this_o be_v the_o covenant_n of_o work_n sometime_o the_o law_n be_v take_v for_o the_o ten_o commandment_n the_o rule_n of_o man_n life_n in_o the_o first_o sense_n a_o christian_n be_v dead_a unto_o the_o law_n and_o be_v free_v from_o it_o but_o in_o the_o second_o sense_n a_o believer_n a_o justify_v person_n be_v more_o bind_v to_o the_o law_n to_o observe_v it_o as_o a_o rule_n of_o life_n than_o ever_o he_o be_v only_o you_o must_v know_v there_o be_v a_o twofold_a bond_n there_o be_v the_o bond_n of_o love_n and_o there_o be_v the_o bond_n of_o fear_n as_o there_o be_v the_o law_n of_o love_n and_o the_o law_n of_o fear_n love_n and_o the_o bond_n of_o love_n be_v strong_a than_o fear_n and_o the_o bond_n of_o fear_n for_o fear_n be_v servant_n to_o love_n fear_n be_v the_o hand_n maid_n to_o love_n for_o you_o never_o fear_v the_o lose_n of_o any_o good_a thing_n but_o what_o you_o first_o love_n fear_n be_v the_o servant_n to_o love_n and_o therefore_o love_n be_v strong_a than_o fear_n and_o the_o bond_n of_o love_n strong_a than_o the_o bond_n of_o fear_n now_o though_o a_o justify_v person_n be_v not_o bind_v unto_o the_o law_n with_o the_o bond_n of_o a_o servile-fear_a yet_o he_o be_v bind_v unto_o the_o law_n with_o the_o bond_n of_o love_n and_o so_o he_o be_v more_o obedient_a as_o the_o bond_n of_o love_n be_v strong_a than_o the_o bond_n of_o fear_n a_o man_n must_v needs_o be_v obedient_a unto_o christ_n that_o take_v himself_o to_o be_v none_o of_o his_o own_o but_o christ_n therefore_o say_v the_o apostle_n 6.20_o 1_o cor._n 6.20_o glorify_v christ_n with_o your_o body_n because_o you_o be_v buy_v with_o a_o price_n and_o because_o you_o be_v go_n so_o long_o as_o a_o man_n seek_v to_o be_v justify_v by_o work_n and_o by_o the_o law_n so_o long_o he_o look_v upon_o himself_o as_o his_o own_o but_o when_o a_o man_n see_v that_o he_o be_v justify_v by_o faith_n alone_o than_o he_o look_v upon_o himself_o as_o christ_n that_o he_o be_v not_o his_o own_o and_o so_o he_o be_v more_o obedient_a unto_o christ_n than_o ever_o be_v be_v before_o object_n 2_o second_o if_o this_o be_v such_o a_o principle_n of_o grace_n and_o holiness_n how_o come_v it_o to_o pass_v that_o man_n sin_v the_o more_o as_o they_o hear_v more_o of_o this_o to_o pass_v that_o it_o do_v not_o put_v heat_n into_o the_o dead_a man_n and_o if_o the_o sun_n do_v enlighten_v how_o come_v it_o to_o pass_v it_o do_v not_o enlighten_v those_o that_o be_v blind_a i_o may_v ask_v you_o the_o reason_n likewise_o but_o i_o will_v tell_v you_o the_o reason_n the_o reason_n of_o this_o be_v because_o man_n be_v contrary_a unto_o god_n and_o all_o that_o do_v make_v this_o use_n &_o application_n of_o the_o lord_n mercy_n and_o grace_n they_o be_v contrary_a unto_o god_n for_o god_n work_v good_a out_o of_o evil_n now_o a_o wicked_a man_n be_v contrary_a unto_o god_n he_o work_v evil_a out_o of_o good_a god_n work_v the_o great_a good_a grace_n out_o of_o the_o great_a evil_a sin_n a_o wicked_a man_n he_o work_v the_o great_a evil_n sin_n out_o of_o the_o great_a good_a god_n love_n and_o grace_n why_o because_o he_o be_v contrary_a to_o god_n but_o now_o take_v this_o truth_n and_o this_o grace_n of_o god_n as_o it_o be_v in_o itself_o and_o so_o it_o be_v a_o very_a real_a friend_n unto_o all_o our_o grace_n and_o holiness_n quest_n 4_o but_o in_o the_o four_o place_n you_o will_v say_v then_o what_o be_v there_o in_o this_o justification_n by_o faith_n alone_o or_o free-remission_n that_o do_v advance_v our_o holiness_n how_o come_v it_o to_o pass_v what_o be_v there_o in_o this_o that_o have_v such_o a_o influence_n upon_o our_o life_n to_o justification_n by_o work_n a_o man_n be_v estate_v in_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n so_o by_o faith_n and_o seek_v justification_n by_o faith_n alone_o a_o man_n be_v estate_v in_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n when_o a_o man_n be_v estate_v in_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n god_n be_v engage_v to_o give_v grace_n unto_o he_o to_o make_v he_o holy_a for_o that_o i_o pray_v do_v but_o read_v what_o you_o have_v in_o that_o 36._o chapter_n of_o ezekiel_n at_o the_o 25._o verse_n and_o so_o downward_o then_o will_v i_o sprinkle_v clean_a water_n upon_o you_o and_o you_o shall_v be_v clean_o your_o flesh_n and_o i_o will_v give_v you_o a_o heart_n of_o flesh_n i_o will_v make_v such_o a_o change_n in_o you_o that_o whereas_o before_o naturally_n you_o be_v as_o hard_o as_o a_o stone_n now_o i_o will_v make_v you_o as_o soft_a as_o flesh_n but_o though_o the_o lord_n do_v thus_o change_v my_o nature_n yet_o notwithstanding_o i_o shall_v never_o be_v able_a to_o order_v my_o conversation_n aright_o i_o shall_v never_o be_v obedient_a mark_v what_o follow_v i_o will_v put_v my_o spirit_n within_o you_o and_o i_o will_v cause_v you_o to_o walk_v in_o my_o statute_n i_o that_o i_o will_v make_v with_o the_o house_n of_o israel_n say_v the_o lord_n i_o will_v put_v my_o law_n into_o their_o mind_n and_o write_v they_o in_o their_o heart_n and_o they_o shall_v not_o own_o mean_n so_o do_v you_o also_o five_o she_o continue_v yet_o pray_v yea_o when_o the_o disciple_n have_v do_v the_o disciple_n they_o say_v send_v she_o away_o at_o the_o 23._o verse_n for_o temptation_n be_v great_a for_o now_o in_o this_o his_o deal_n his_o way_n seem_v to_o run_v cross_a unto_o promise_n the_o promise_n be_v make_v unto_o the_o gentile_n the_o old_a testament_n be_v full_a of_o it_o 42._o of_o esay_n and_o the_o 1._o verse_n he_o shall_v bring_v forth_o judgement_n unto_o the_o gentile_n verse_n 6._o i_o have_v give_v thou_o for_o a_o covenant_n of_o the_o her_o temptation_n rise_v after_o prayer_n yet_o her_o prayer_n right_a and_o her_o faith_n right_o second_o observe_v this_o that_o god_n deal_n or_o christ_n deal_n with_o a_o man_n may_v sometime_o seem_v to_o run_v cross_a to_o his_o very_a promise_n and_o yet_o a_o man_n condition_n right_a so_o here_o with_o this_o woman_n three_o that_o it_o may_v be_v the_o case_n of_o some_o of_o god_n child_n to_o be_v exercise_v about_o their_o election_n and_o predestination_n and_o temptation_n concern_v election_n and_o predestination_n throw_v in_o upon_o they_o four_o that_o in_o case_n any_o poor_a believer_n that_o be_v a_o weak_a person_n weak_a in_o the_o faith_n be_v tempt_v and_o try_v about_o election_n or_o predestination_n the_o best_a way_n for_o the_o present_a be_v to_o lay_v that_o dispute_n by_o and_o to_o run_v to_o mercy_n
give_v a_o denial_n unto_o all_o your_o prayer_n yet_o at_o the_o last_o he_o will_v own_v your_o prayer_n he_o will_v own_v your_o faith_n and_o he_o will_v say_v unto_o to_o thou_o man_n or_o woman_n great_a be_v thy_o faith_n be_v it_o unto_o thou_o even_o be_v thou_o will_v i_o come_v to_o the_o victory_n after_o this_o combat_n then_o jesus_n answer_v and_o say_v unto_o she_o o_fw-la woman_n great_a be_v thy_o faith_n be_v it_o unto_o thou_o even_o as_o thou_o will_v here_o now_o the_o lord_n do_v give_v a_o testimony_n of_o her_o faith_n and_o he_o do_v give_v she_o the_o mercy_n desire_v first_o he_o commend_v her_o faith_n and_o second_o he_o commend_v the_o greatness_n of_o her_o faith_n o_o woman_n great_a be_v thy_o faith_n quest_n why_o do_v he_o rather_o commend_v her_o faith_n than_o other_o grace_n she_o have_v other_o grace_n here_o be_v humility_n in_o this_o woman_n to_o be_v see_v here_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o wisdom_n in_o this_o woman_n to_o be_v see_v here_o be_v prayer_n here_o be_v perseverance_n in_o prayer_n christ_n commend_v none_o of_o these_o but_o commend_v her_o faith_n why_o do_v he_o rather_o commend_v her_o faith_n than_o any_o other_o grace_n answ_n faith_n do_v commend_v christ_n above_o all_o the_o other_o and_o therefore_o christ_n will_v commend_v faith_n above_o all_o other_o duty_n or_o grace_n i'faith_o honour_n christ_n and_o christ_n will_v honour_v faith_n it_o be_v faith_n that_o give_v a_o be_v to_o and_o be_v the_o root_n of_o all_o other_o grace_n he_o commend_v that_o it_o be_v only_a faith_n that_o bring_v christ_n and_o the_o soul_n together_o and_o therefore_o he_o do_v commend_v faith_n above_o all_o other_o grace_n if_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n do_v commend_v faith_n so_o why_o shall_v we_o not_o all_o labour_n especial_o to_o strengthen_v our_o faith_n get_v faith_n you_o that_o have_v it_o not_o &_o strengthen_v it_o you_o that_o have_v it_o get_v humility_n patience_n wisdom_n be_v much_o in_o prayer_n and_o continue_v in_o prayer_n but_o above_o all_o thing_n get_v faith_n faith_n be_v the_o grace_n commend_v by_o jesus_n christ_n above_o all_o other_o grace_n therefore_o we_o shall_v labour_v above_o all_o for_o to_o get_v faith_n and_o to_o strengthen_v faith_n it_o be_v observe_v from_o this_o place_n that_o christ_n commend_v none_o but_o the_o gentile_n the_o faith_n of_o the_o gentile_n he_o say_v concern_v the_o centurion_n i_o have_v not_o find_v so_o great_a faith_n no_o not_o in_o israel_n he_o be_v a_o gentile_a and_o here_o he_o say_v concern_v this_o woman_n o_o woman_n great_a be_v thy_o faith_n and_o she_o be_v a_o gentile_a what_o ever_o therefore_o thou_o have_v be_v though_o a_o canaanite_n though_o a_o sinner_n though_o a_o great_a sinner_n get_v faith_n labour_n to_o strengthen_v then_o thy_o faith_n and_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n will_v own_v thy_o faith_n at_o the_o last_o though_o for_o the_o present_a he_o seem_v to_o hide_v himself_o from_o thou_o yet_o he_o will_v own_v it_o at_o the_o last_o and_o he_o will_v commend_v it_o at_o the_o last_o second_o he_o commend_v here_o the_o greatness_n of_o her_o faith_n wherein_o be_v the_o greatness_n of_o her_o faith_n faith_n consist_v in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n assent_n unto_o the_o truth_n a_o rely_v upon_o god_n in_o christ_n in_o time_n of_o temptation_n it_o be_v a_o come_v to_o jesus_n christ_n a_o adherence_n to_o he_o but_o the_o greatness_n of_o her_o faith_n lie_v in_o this_o that_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o all_o these_o temptation_n yet_o she_o do_v hang_v on_o christ_n and_o will_v not_o be_v beat_v off_o by_o any_o of_o these_o discouragement_n or_o temptation_n here_o be_v the_o greatness_n of_o her_o faith_n observe_v the_o strength_n of_o faith_n do_v not_o lie_v in_o the_o assurance_n of_o our_o salvation_n or_o of_o god_n love_n or_o of_o the_o mercy_n that_o we_o desire_v in_o prayer_n one_o may_v have_v strong_a faith_n and_o yet_o no_o assurance_n i_o say_v not_o only_a faith_n but_o strong_a faith_n this_o woman_n have_v no_o assurance_n that_o we_o read_v of_o not_o assurance_n of_o the_o thing_n that_o she_o beg_v that_o the_o lord_n will_v hear_v her_o prayer_n she_o have_v no_o assurance_n of_o it_o only_o she_o hang_v upon_o christ_n and_o will_v not_o away_o and_o when_o he_o put_v she_o away_o she_o gather_v in_o upon_o he_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o all_o temptation_n and_o opposition_n still_o she_o do_v hang_v upon_o he_o so_o then_o a_o man_n may_v have_v faith_n and_o strong_a faith_n although_o he_o have_v no_o assurance_n and_o upon_o this_o account_n how_o many_o be_v there_o that_o have_v strong_a faith_n that_o think_v they_o have_v no_o faith_n at_o all_o some_o think_v they_o have_v no_o faith_n because_o they_o can_v say_v christ_n be_v i_o mercy_n be_v i_o heaven_n be_v i_o but_o yet_o if_o in_o the_o time_n of_o your_o temptation_n you_o can_v hand_n upon_o christ_n and_o will_v not_o away_o from_o christ_n but_o will_v still_o hang_v upon_o he_o still_o wait_v upon_o he_o you_o have_v not_o only_a faith_n but_o you_o may_v have_v strong_a faith_n a_o great_a faith_n as_o this_o woman_n have_v and_o let_v i_o tell_v you_o this_o for_o your_o comfort_n at_o the_o last_o the_o lord_n will_v make_v a_o report_n of_o your_o faith_n unto_o your_o own_o heart_n yea_o he_o will_v make_v a_o report_n answerable_a to_o your_o temptation_n for_o you_o may_v observe_v here_o that_o as_o the_o wound_n be_v make_v so_o the_o plaster_n be_v lay_v you_o have_v three_o great_a temptation_n answerable_o now_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n do_v testify_v of_o this_o womon_n first_o of_o all_o he_o answer_v she_o not_o a_o word_n will_v not_o own_v she_o will_v not_o speak_v to_o she_o now_o say_v he_o o_o woman_n then_o he_o say_v that_o he_o be_v not_o send_v but_o unto_o the_o lose_a sheep_n now_o he_o do_v own_v she_o for_o a_o sheep_n and_o he_o say_v she_o have_v faith_n before_o he_o say_v it_o be_v not_o meet_v to_o cast_v child_n bread_n to_o dog_n this_o do_v argue_v that_o she_o be_v a_o dog_n one_o most_o unworthy_a now_o he_o say_v that_o she_o be_v most_o worthy_a o_o woman_n thou_o have_v not_o only_a faith_n but_o thou_o have_v a_o great_a faith_n o_o woman_n great_a be_v thy_o faith_n so_o that_o i_o say_v still_o hang_v upon_o christ_n in_o all_o your_o temptation_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o all_o your_o discouragment_n still_o hang_v upon_o christ_n and_o the_o lord_n jesus_n he_o will_v not_o only_o make_v a_o report_n of_o your_o faith_n unto_o you_o but_o according_a as_o your_o temptation_n rise_v so_o shall_v the_o report_n of_o your_o grace_n be_v from_o the_o lord_n christ_n unto_o your_o poor_a soul_n therefore_o hang_v upon_o christ_n he_o do_v not_o only_o here_o give_v a_o testimony_n of_o her_o faith_n and_o the_o greatness_n of_o her_o faith_n but_o now_o he_o do_v give_v the_o thing_n be_v it_o unto_o thou_o as_o thou_o will_v christ_n can_v deny_v nothing_o to_o a_o true_a believer_n a_o believer_n may_v have_v what_o he_o will_v of_o christ_n at_o last_o christ_n can_v hold_v though_o he_o do_v hide_v himself_o from_o his_o brethren_n as_o joseph_n do_v for_o a_o time_n he_o can_v hold_v it_o out_o always_o he_o can_v hold_v out_o the_o siege_n always_o but_o he_o will_v give_v up_o himself_o to_o a_o poor_a believer_n o_o poor_a believer_n be_v it_o according_a as_o thou_o will_v thou_o will_v have_v grace_n thou_o will_v have_v this_o or_o that_o mercy_n be_v it_o unto_o thou_o even_o as_o thou_o will_v i_o will_v only_o take_v one_o lesson_n from_o all_o and_o so_o conclude_v and_o the_o great_a lesson_n that_o we_o shall_v all_o learn_v from_o this_o whole_a story_n be_v to_o believe_v in_o the_o face_n of_o all_o discouragement_n of_o all_o opposition_n all_o temptation_n still_o to_o hang_v upon_o jesus_n christ_n the_o very_a read_n of_o this_o story_n provoke_v we_o hereunto_o whatsoever_o your_o temptation_n be_v whatever_o your_o discouragement_n be_v yet_o hang_v on_o christ_n never_o away_o still_o wait_v upon_o he_o object_n you_o say_v it_o may_v be_v but_o i_o fear_v christ_n and_o the_o promise_n do_v not_o belong_v to_o i_o answ_n but_o do_v jesus_n christ_n ever_o say_v unto_o you_o with_o his_o own_o mouth_n i_o be_o not_o send_v but_o unto_o the_o lose_a sheep_n and_o thou_o be_v none_o he_o say_v so_o to_o this_o woman_n and_o yet_o she_o do_v hang_v upon_o he_o and_o he_o commend_v she_o for_o her_o faith_n object_n but_o you_o will_v say_v unto_o i_o i_o have_v be_v at_o prayer_n i_o have_v pray_v long_o and_o i_o hear_v nothing_o of_o all_o my_o prayer_n answ_n this_o
drunkard_n or_o a_o swearer_n but_o he_o will_v say_v thus_o this_o my_o son_n be_v dead_a but_o be_v now_o alive_a this_o my_o daughter_n be_v dead_a and_o be_v now_o alive_a thus_o the_o lord_n will_v look_v upon_o your_o former_a evil_n if_o once_o you_o come_v to_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o this_o spiritual_a life_n oh_o therefore_o what_o a_o bless_a condition_n be_v the_o saint_n and_o people_n of_o god_n in_o that_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o this_o same_o spiritual_a life_n i_o remember_v it_o be_v write_v of_o a_o certain_a martyr_n in_o the_o primitive_a time_n a_o woman_n when_o she_o be_v bring_v before_o the_o enemy_n of_o the_o gospel_n they_o put_v divers_a question_n to_o she_o and_o she_o answer_v all_o their_o question_n with_o one_o answer_n which_o be_v this_o christiana_n sum_n i_o be_o a_o christian_n when_o they_o say_v unto_o she_o woman_n be_v thou_o marry_v or_o no._n i_o be_o a_o christian_n say_v she_o what_o parent_n have_v thou_o woman_n i_o be_o a_o christian_n say_v she_o woman_n where_o do_v thou_o live_v i_o be_o a_o christian_n say_v she_o she_o answer_v all_o their_o question_n with_o this_o i_o be_o a_o christian_n and_o so_o i_o think_v a_o man_n may_v answer_v all_o objection_n that_o be_v make_v unto_o he_o with_o this_o i_o be_o alive_a in_o christ_n but_o thou_o have_v a_o dead_a estate_n much_o of_o it_o be_v lose_v at_o sea_n or_o at_o land_n well_o but_o i_o be_o alive_a in_o christ_n but_o have_v thou_o not_o a_o dead_a husband_n or_o a_o dead_a wife_n or_o a_o dead_a child_n i_o be_o alive_a in_o christ_n but_o cold_a and_o dead_a and_o stiff_a and_o therefore_o i_o fear_v i_o be_o free_a among_o the_o dead_a and_o not_o free_a among_o the_o live_n answ_n have_v you_o not_o hear_v that_o there_o be_v a_o deadness_n which_o be_v opposite_a to_o liveliness_n aswell_o as_o a_o death_n that_o be_v opposite_a to_o life_n and_o be_v thy_o heart_n dead_a with_o a_o death_n opposite_a to_o life_n thou_o can_v not_o feel_v it_o and_o i_o appeal_v to_o thou_o if_o that_o thy_o soul_n be_v alive_a in_o opposition_n to_o death_n have_v thou_o not_o more_o cause_n to_o be_v thankful_a that_o thy_o soul_n be_v alive_a in_o oppofition_n to_o death_n than_o to_o be_v discourage_v that_o thy_o soul_n be_v dead_a in_o opposition_n to_o liveliness_n but_o there_o be_v a_o differance_n you_o know_v between_o the_o coldness_n of_o a_o live_a man_n and_o the_o coldness_n of_o a_o dead_a man_n take_v a_o dead_a man_n and_o if_o he_o be_v cold_a it_o be_v not_o all_o your_o fire_n will_v put_v warmth_n into_o he_o or_o your_o aquavitae_n or_o your_o chafe_n and_o rub_v of_o he_o or_o your_o warm_a bed_n that_o will_v make_v he_o warm_v but_o now_o take_v a_o man_n that_o be_v cold_a and_o live_v and_o if_o you_o chafe_v he_o or_o bring_v he_o to_o the_o fire_n or_o lay_v he_o in_o a_o good_a warm_a bed_n he_o recover_v his_o warmth_n again_o and_o so_o it_o be_v with_o a_o godly_a heart_n though_o cold_a yet_o bring_v it_o unto_o the_o ordinance_n either_o public_o or_o private_o and_o it_o recover_v its_o warmth_n again_o and_o have_v it_o not_o be_v even_o so_o with_o some_o of_o you_o it_o be_v true_a a_o dead_a man_n be_v stiff_a but_o have_v you_o find_v yourselves_o in_o a_o way_n of_o sin_n a_o evil_a way_n and_o be_v you_o so_o stiff_o therein_o as_o you_o will_v not_o be_v put_v out_o of_o your_o way_n no_o not_o by_o admonition_n then_o you_o be_v stiff_o indeed_o there_o be_v two_o man_n that_o be_v out_o of_o their_o way_n suppose_v the_o traveller_n and_o the_o thief_n the_o traveller_n be_v out_o of_o his_o way_n and_o if_o you_o come_v to_o he_o and_o say_v sir_n you_o be_v much_o out_o of_o your_o way_n he_o hearken_v to_o you_o and_o he_o thank_v you_o and_o he_o return_v into_o his_o way_n again_o but_o if_o you_o come_v to_o a_o thief_n and_o say_v sir_n you_o be_v out_o of_o your_o way_n he_o laugh_v and_o scorn_n and_o come_v not_o into_o the_o way_n so_o there_o be_v some_o indeed_o that_o be_v out_o of_o their_o way_n and_o if_o you_o do_v come_v to_o they_o and_o tell_v they_o that_o they_o be_v out_o of_o their_o way_n they_o will_v bless_v and_o praise_v the_o lord_n for_o your_o admonition_n and_o labour_n to_o return_v into_o their_o way_n again_o but_o some_o there_o be_v that_o if_o you_o tell_v they_o that_o they_o be_v out_o of_o their_o way_n they_o will_v rather_o scorn_v and_o jeer_v at_o it_o what_o have_v you_o to_o do_v to_o meddle_v with_o i_o what_o have_v you_o to_o do_v to_o meddle_v with_o my_o way_n meddle_v with_o your_o own_o matter_n these_o man_n be_v stiff_a they_o be_v stiff_o indeed_o why_o because_o they_o be_v dead_a they_o be_v stiff_a in_o the_o way_n of_o their_o sin_n and_o they_o will_v not_o be_v stir_v out_o no_o not_o by_o admonition_n why_o because_o they_o be_v dead_a but_o i_o appeal_v to_o you_o whether_o be_v it_o thus_o with_o you_o or_o no_o do_v you_o say_v rather_o i_o praise_v the_o lord_n though_o sometime_o yea_o many_o time_n i_o be_o out_o of_o the_o way_n and_o in_o the_o way_n of_o sin_n yet_o i_o can_v rejoice_v in_o a_o admonition_n and_o bless_v the_o lord_n for_o a_o admonition_n yea_o this_o i_o can_v speak_v though_o my_o heart_n be_v sometime_o very_o cold_a yet_o i_o have_v find_v heat_n and_o warmth_n recover_v again_o either_o under_o a_o public_a or_o under_o a_o private_a ordinance_n well_o then_o be_v of_o good_a comfort_n thou_o be_v not_o dead_a though_o thou_o may_v be_v asleep_a yet_o thou_o may_v be_v among_o the_o live_n object_n i_o be_o afraid_a that_o i_o be_o not_o alive_a spiritual_o that_o i_o be_o not_o make_v partaker_n of_o this_o spiritual_a life_n because_o i_o do_v not_o grow_v in_o grace_n and_o this_o be_v the_o difference_n between_o a_o live_a child_n and_o a_o dead_a child_n the_o dead_a paint_a child_n grow_v not_o but_o the_o live_a child_n grow_v and_o the_o lord_n know_v i_o do_v not_o grow_v in_o grace_n and_o therefore_o i_o fear_v that_o i_o be_o but_o the_o paint_a child_n of_o god_n and_o i_o be_o not_o the_o live_a child_n answ_n if_o this_o be_v true_a it_o be_v ill_o for_o growth_n indeed_o be_v a_o sign_n of_o life_n but_o whoever_o you_o be_v that_o make_v this_o objection_n and_o lie_v under_o this_o fear_n give_v i_o leave_v to_o propound_v to_o you_o two_o or_o three_o offend_v against_o all_o action_n against_o the_o good_a way_n of_o god_n and_o the_o people_n of_o god_n this_o be_v your_o godliness_n these_o be_v your_o professor_n and_o they_o be_v all_o so_o very_o apt_a to_o be_v offend_v when_o a_o man_n be_v convert_v and_o turn_v to_o god_n while_o he_o be_v weak_a in_o grace_n he_o be_v apt_a to_o stumble_v and_o to_o be_v offend_v but_o the_o strong_a he_o grow_v in_o grace_n the_o less_o he_o will_v be_v offend_v three_o whether_o do_v you_o not_o grow_v more_o off_o from_o the_o youthful_a thing_n that_o godly_a man_n do_v look_v unto_o i_o say_v the_o thing_n that_o the_o youthfulness_n of_o godliness_n be_v take_v much_o with_o you_o know_v that_o youth_n be_v take_v with_o many_o thing_n that_o the_o state_n of_o man_n be_v not_o
