see_v the_o vileness_n of_o sin_n and_o abhor_v ourselves_o for_o it_o to_o wit_n the_o slenderness_n of_o the_o temptation_n and_o smallness_n of_o the_o motive_n to_o it_o 3._o add_v what_o strong_a be_v not_o only_o final_a grace_n but_o degree_n of_o grace_n else_o the_o apostle_n will_v not_o have_v say_v receive_v not_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n in_o vain_a consider_v then_o how_o much_o grace_n thou_o have_v receive_v in_o vain_a how_o many_o motion_n to_o good_a have_v thou_o reject_v perhaps_o thy_o heart_n be_v touch_v at_o this_o sermon_n though_o it_o be_v not_o my_o tongue_n nor_o the_o tongue_n of_o the_o most_o elegant_a in_o the_o world_n that_o can_v touch_v the_o heart_n but_o the_o spirit_n that_o come_v along_o with_o his_o word_n now_o when_o thou_o find_v wirh_n the_o word_n a_o spirit_n to_o go_v with_o it_o it_o be_v a_o grace_n if_o thy_o conscience_n be_v enlighten_v and_o thy_o duty_n reveal_v to_o thou_o so_o that_o it_o tell_v thou_o what_o thou_o be_v what_o thou_o ought_v to_o do_v and_o not_o to_o do_v it_o be_v a_o grace_n now_o if_o for_o all_o this_o thou_o blind_o run_v through_o and_o be_v never_o the_o better_a but_o obstinate_o set_v thyself_o against_o god_n and_o do_v many_o thing_n which_o other_o that_o have_v not_o receive_v the_o same_o grace_n will_v not_o have_v do_v know_v then_o that_o thou_o receive_v this_o grace_n in_o vain_a and_o thy_o case_n be_v lamentable_a 4._o consider_v god_n great_a goodness_n towards_o thou_o 1._o first_o his_o goodness_n in_o himself_o there_o be_v nothing_o but_o goodness_n infinite_a goodness_n in_o he_o and_o can_v thou_o find_v in_o thy_o heart_n to_o sin_n against_o so_o good_a a_o god_n to_o offend_v and_o wrong_v a_o good_a disposition_v person_n one_o of_o a_o sweet_a nature_n and_o affection_n it_o aggravate_v the_o fault_n it_o be_v pity_n to_o wrong_v or_o hurt_v such_o a_o one_o as_o injure_v no_o body_n now_o such_o a_o one_o be_v god_n a_o good_a good_a infinite_a in_o goodness_n rich_a in_o mercy_n very_a goodness_n itself_o and_o therefore_o it_o must_v needs_o aggravate_v the_o foulness_n of_o sin_n to_o sin_n against_o he_o particular_n of_o this_o judgement_n of_o chastisement_n for_o this_o cause_n many_o be_v weak_a and_o sickly_a among_o you_o and_o many_o sleep_n ver_fw-la 30._o mark_n what_o be_v the_o judgement_n he_o eat_v why_o this_o he_o be_v cast_v upon_o his_o bed_n of_o sickness_n into_o a_o consumption_n perchance_o or_o some_o other_o corporal_a disease_n a_o cause_n physician_n seldom_o or_o never_o look_v into_o they_o look_v to_o ague_n cold_n or_o the_o like_a they_o never_o once_o conjecture_v that_o their_o unworthy_a eat_n at_o the_o lord_n table_n cast_v they_o into_o the_o disease_n and_o be_v the_o principal_a cause_n of_o the_o malady_n nay_o death_n itself_o too_o often_o be_v the_o punishment_n of_o such_o bold_a attempt_n so_o that_o all_o the_o physician_n in_o the_o world_n can_v cure_v they_o and_o thus_o god_n inflict_v temporal_a judgement_n to_o free_v they_o from_o eternal_a as_o appear_v far_o in_o the_o 32._o ver_fw-la when_o we_o be_v judge_v we_o be_v chasten_v of_o the_o lord_n that_o we_o shall_v not_o be_v condemn_v with_o the_o world_n that_o be_v we_o undergo_v a_o judgement_n of_o chastisement_n to_o prevent_v the_o judgement_n of_o condemnation_n which_o though_o it_o be_v a_o sharp_a and_o bitter_a pill_n yet_o by_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n we_o eat_v that_o whereby_o damnation_n be_v prevent_v this_o judgement_n of_o condemnation_n be_v the_o portion_n of_o the_o profane_a person_n who_o dare_v to_o meddle_v with_o that_o belong_v not_o to_o he_o against_o who_o the_o angel_n of_o the_o lord_n with_o a_o flame_a sword_n stand_v to_o keep_v the_o way_n of_o this_o tree_n of_o life_n those_o that_o come_v that_o have_v faith_n yet_o come_v unprepared_o they_o eat_v judgement_n too_o yet_o by_o god_n mercy_n it_o be_v that_o which_o preserve_v they_o from_o the_o damnation_n of_o the_o soul._n now_o before_o i_o come_v to_o the_o particular_n note_v how_o careful_a god_n be_v that_o spiritual_a exercise_n shall_v be_v spiritual_o perform_v he_o be_v very_o angry_a when_o he_o see_v a_o spiritual_a duty_n carnal_o undertake_v for_o this_o cause_n many_o be_v sick_a etc._n etc._n that_o be_v because_o you_o that_o be_v believer_n have_v faith_n repentance_n and_o a_o portion_n in_o your_o saviour_n come_v irreverent_o come_v unprepared_o perform_v a_o spiritual_a work_n so_o carnal_o we_o have_v precedent_n hereof_o in_o scriptureâ—_n and_o chief_o two_o first_o for_o circumcision_n exod._n 4.24_o at_o the_o 21._o v_o god_n send_v moses_n on_o a_o message_n into_o egypt_n and_o in_o the_o 24._o vers_fw-la the_o text_n say_v it_o come_v to_o pass_v by_o the_o way_n in_o the_o inn_n that_o the_o lord_n meet_v he_o and_o seek_v to_o kill_v he_o this_o be_v very_o strange_a this_o have_v no_o dependence_n on_o manasseh_n issachar_n and_o zebulon_n have_v not_o cleanse_v themselves_o yet_o do_v they_o eat_v the_o passover_n otherwise_o then_o it_o be_v write_v there_o be_v many_o likewise_o in_o the_o congregation_n that_o be_v not_o sanctify_v and_o therefore_o god_n punish_v they_o it_o be_v not_o set_v down_o in_o what_o manner_n god_n punish_v they_o yet_o by_o the_o consequent_a it_o may_v be_v gather_v that_o it_o be_v by_o sickness_n for_o the_o next_o word_n be_v to_o that_o effect_n hezekiah_n pray_v for_o they_o say_v the_o good_a lord_n pardon_v every_o one_o that_o prepare_v nation_n for_o this_o fault_n that_o he_o even_o smite_v a_o people_n to_o death_n but_o we_o pass_v from_o this_o and_o come_v to_o the_o particular_n 3._o the_o particular_n of_o this_o offence_n and_o wherein_o it_o consist_v that_o a_o man_n come_v unworthy_o that_o so_o we_o may_v know_v whether_o we_o be_v guilty_a of_o the_o crime_n know_v therefore_o that_o there_o be_v two_o sort_n that_o come_v to_o the_o communion_n first_o those_o to_o who_o the_o business_n do_v not_o belong_v that_o have_v nothing_o to_o do_v with_o the_o thing_n as_o open_o profane_a one_o second_o such_o for_o you_o from_o the_o begin_n of_o the_o world_n to_o they_o he_o will_v likewise_o say_v come_v to_o my_o table_n come_v to_o this_o banquet_n partake_v of_o my_o body_n and_o blood_n and_o to_o as_o many_o as_o he_o will_v say_v depart_v from_o i_o you_o curse_a into_o everlasting_a flame_n to_o so_o many_o will_v he_o say_v go_v you_o from_o my_o table_n come_v not_o near_o now_o there_o depart_v from_o my_o table_n meddle_v not_o with_o those_o mystery_n and_o they_o be_v 1._o those_o that_o know_v not_o god_n and_o indeed_o it_o be_v a_o most_o unworthy_a thing_n for_o a_o the_o lord_n invite_v not_o fool_n and_o blockhead_n to_o his_o mystery_n
not_o strike_v thou_o with_o a_o thunderbolt_n sure_o he_o give_v thou_o this_o space_n not_o to_o spend_v it_o idle_o but_o to_o another_o end_n not_o to_o follow_v our_o lust_n neglect_v god_n call_v but_o that_o thou_o may_v remember_v thyself_o and_o return_v with_o all_o thy_o heart_n remember_v those_o word_n of_o the_o prophet_n my_o time_n be_v in_o thy_o hand_n psal._n 35._o he_o say_v not_o my_o time_n be_v in_o my_o own_o hand_n for_o he_o know_v it_o be_v grand_a presumption_n why_o then_o shall_v any_o challenge_v that_o to_o himself_o that_o belong_v to_o god_n as_o if_o thou_o may_v not_o have_v the_o grace_n to_o do_v it_o what_o be_v jezabels_n case_n rev._n 3_o though_o god_n give_v her_o space_n yet_o she_o repent_v not_o what_o can_v thou_o tell_v what_o may_v
