diev_n et_fw-fr 〈◊〉_d droit_n act_z for_o levy_v of_o seaman_n edinburgh_n the_o four_o day_n of_o may_n 1693._o our_o sovereign_a lord_n and_o lady_n the_o king_n and_o queen_n majesty_n consider_v a_o proposal_n give_v in_o from_o their_o majesty_n privy_a council_n for_o the_o more_o effectual_a levy_v of_o seaman_n for_o their_o majesty_n navy_n whereof_o the_o tenor_n follow_v the_o lord_n of_o their_o majesty_n privy_a council_n in_o compliance_n with_o his_o majesty_n letter_n for_o that_o effect_n recommend_v to_o their_o majesty_n high_a commissioner_n and_o honourable_a estate_n of_o parliament_n that_o a_o order_n of_o parliament_n may_v be_v emit_v appoint_v the_o magistrate_n of_o all_o the_o burghs-royal_a burgh_n of_o regality_n and_o barony_n upon_o the_o seacoast_n of_o this_o kingdom_n and_o other_o the_o heretor_n upon_o the_o seacoast_n to_o make_v up_o list_n of_o the_o whole_a seaman_n fisherman_n and_o boat-man_n within_o the_o bound_n of_o their_o respective_a jurisdiction_n and_o cause_n cast_v lot_n for_o the_o four_o man_n that_o be_v between_o sixty_o and_o sixteen_o in_o all_o such_o burgh_n and_o place_n which_o furnish_v no_o seaman_n the_o last_o year_n in_o obedience_n to_o the_o council_n order_n for_o that_o effect_n and_o thereafter_o to_o cast_v lot_n for_o the_o eight_o man_n contain_v in_o the_o said_n list_n to_o be_v make_v up_o by_o oath_n or_o any_o other_o legal_a method_n by_o the_o said_n magistrate_n within_o the_o whole_a bound_n respective_a above_o name_v and_o the_o magistrate_n and_o heretor_n be_v likeways_o to_o cast_v lot_n for_o the_o wilful_a absent_a or_o unwilling_a seaman_n and_o which_o four_o and_o eight_o man_n the_o say_n magistrate_n and_o heretor_n be_v immediate_o to_o seize_v and_o deliver_v to_o captain_n william_n erskin_n lieutenant_n governor_n of_o blackness_n or_o such_o as_o he_o shall_v depute_v and_o give_v commission_n to_o for_o that_o effect_n who_o for_o the_o better_a ease_n of_o the_o magistrate_n respective_a foresay_v be_v to_o be_v entrust_v for_o receive_v and_o transport_v the_o say_a seaman_n immediate_o after_o they_o be_v list_v and_o to_o carry_v they_o to_o leith_n where_o every_o seaman_n that_o engage_v in_o the_o service_n be_v to_o receive_v twenty_o four_o pound_n of_o gratification_n by_o and_o attour_n their_o constant_a pay_n thereafter_o conform_v to_o the_o english_a establishment_n and_o the_o say_a captain_n erskin_n be_v to_o transport_v the_o seaman_n to_o be_v levy_v from_o largs_n to_o dundee_n inclusive_a before_o the_o twenty_o day_n of_o may_n instant_n and_o the_o seaman_n of_o other_o place_n betwixt_o and_o the_o first_o of_o june_n next_o their_o majesty_n with_o advice_n and_o consent_n of_o the_o estate_n of_o parliament_n do_v order_n and_o require_v obedience_n to_o be_v give_v thereto_o in_o manner_n therein_o propose_v with_o certification_n that_o such_o as_o faill_v therein_o shall_v be_v punish_v as_o person_n disaffect_v to_o their_o majesty_n government_n and_o if_o any_o of_o the_o seaman_n who_o shall_v be_v so_o deliver_v do_v or_o endeavour_v to_o flee_v from_o their_o majesty_n service_n after_o they_o be_v deliver_v they_o shall_v be_v proceed_v against_o with_o all_o severity_n as_o fugitive_n and_o runaway_n from_o their_o majesty_n host_n and_o their_o majesty_n with_o consent_n foresay_a authorize_v and_o empower_v the_o privy_a council_n to_o take_v such_o further_a course_n as_o may_v be_v most_o expedient_a for_o make_v this_o act_n effectual_a both_o on_o this_o and_o the_o like_a occasion_n during_o this_o present_a war._n extract_v forth_o of_o the_o record_n of_o parliament_n by_o tarbat_n cls._n regis_fw-la god_n save_o king_n william_n and_o queen_n mary_n edinburgh_n print_v by_o the_o heir_n of_o andrew_n anderson_n printer_n to_o their_o most_o excellent_a majesty_n anno._n dom_fw-la 1693._o
