holiness_n no_o doubt_n it_o will_v much_o abate_v and_o compose_v our_o distance_n while_o like_o line_n we_o all_o tend_v to_o one_o centre_n god_n or_o run_v parallel_n to_o that_o straight_a of_o joy_n and_o life_n for_o evermore_o the_o text_n be_v a_o sacred_a and_o solemn_a exhortation_n by_o which_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n direct_v all_o man_n the_o next_o and_o only_a way_n to_o attain_v the_o most_o sovereign_a good_a and_o desirable_a end_n the_o happy_a sight_n of_o god_n in_o it_o we_o have_v 1_o the_o precept_n or_o direction_n follow_v peace_n with_o all_o man_n and_o holiness_n 2_o the_o motive_n or_o inducement_n without_o which_o no_o man_n shall_v see_v god_n not_o promissory_a and_o affirmative_a for_o in_o so_o do_v you_o shall_v see_v god_n but_o menace_v and_o negative_a such_o be_v indeed_o the_o temper_n of_o man_n heart_n that_o they_o be_v more_o terrify_v with_o loss_n than_o win_v and_o invite_v with_o the_o hope_n of_o good_a the_o misery_n of_o suffer_v prevail_a more_o with_o our_o hardness_n than_o the_o happiness_n of_o enjoy_v the_o horror_n of_o be_v ever_o separate_v from_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n the_o chief_a good_a of_o the_o soul_n which_o can_v import_v no_o less_o than_o hell_n and_o extreme_a misery_n this_o happy_o may_v scare_v many_o one_o to_o follow_v peace_n and_o holiness_n who_o neither_o the_o pleasantness_n of_o the_o way_n nor_o the_o ampleness_n of_o the_o reward_n will_v induce_v to_o forsake_v their_o please_a but_o yet_o impure_a and_o dangerous_a course_n in_o the_o precept_n we_o have_v 1_o the_o object_n which_o be_v double_a peace_n and_o holiness_n 2_o the_o act_n or_o duty_n but_o one_o and_o serve_v to_o both_o follow_v they_o we_o will_v consider_v the_o object_n several_o in_o their_o nature_n and_o carry_v along_o the_o act_n or_o duty_n with_o they_o 1_o of_o peace_n follow_v peace_n with_o all_o man_n now_o although_o the_o beauty_n sweetness_n and_o usefulness_n of_o this_o subject_a which_o be_v so_o agreeable_a to_o my_o mind_n and_o so_o necessary_a to_o our_o time_n that_o i_o shall_v be_v glad_a to_o meet_v it_o in_o every_o sermon_n i_o make_v or_o hear_v and_o in_o every_o man_n with_o who_o i_o deal_v though_o i_o say_v it_o may_v deserve_v and_o justify_v a_o large_a and_o renew_a discourse_n upon_o it_o yet_o i_o may_v but_o spare_o now_o speak_v of_o what_o this_o peace_n be_v 2_o how_o and_o by_o who_o to_o be_v follow_v 3_o why._n 1_o for_o this_o general_a peace_n we_o can_v better_o tell_v what_o it_o be_v by_o the_o fruition_n than_o any_o description_n of_o it_o what_o health_n be_v to_o the_o body_n and_o calmness_n to_o the_o sea_n and_o serenity_n to_o the_o day_n such_o be_v peace_n to_o the_o heart_n and_o conversation_n of_o man_n it_o be_v a_o kind_n of_o sweet_a divine_a and_o heavenly_a consent_n harmony_n and_o beauty_n of_o mind_n and_o manner_n of_o affection_n and_o action_n it_o be_v one_o of_o the_o fair_a and_o pleasant_a fruit_n of_o that_o which_o among_o christian_n we_o call_v charity_n by_o which_o each_o be_v endear_v to_o other_o by_o a_o mutual_a love_n and_o study_v of_o one_o another_o good_a welfare_n and_o happiness_n as_o their_o own_o both_o private_a and_o public_a temporal_a and_o eternal_a this_o must_v be_v follow_v to_o the_o latitude_n and_o extension_n of_o the_o subject_a
