cornish_n esq_n sheriff_n of_o london_n and_o middlesex_n show_n that_o your_o petitioner_n have_v receive_v a_o writ_n under_o the_o great_a seal_n of_o england_n recite_v that_o judgement_n have_v be_v give_v by_o your_o lordship_n against_o william_n viscount_n stafford_n for_o high_a treason_n and_o diverse_a other_o crime_n and_o offence_n upon_o the_o impeachment_n of_o the_o commons_o in_o parliament_n assemble_v and_o command_v your_o petitioner_n to_o cause_v the_o say_a viscount_n staffords_n head_n to_o be_v sever_v from_o his_o body_n upon_o the_o twenty_o nine_o day_n of_o this_o instant_a december_n notwithstanding_o any_o judgement_n law_n ordinance_n or_o command_v to_o the_o contrary_n that_o your_o petitioner_n have_v not_o as_o yet_o receive_v any_o command_n from_o your_o lordship_n for_o execute_v the_o say_a judgement_n may_v it_o therefore_o please_v your_o lordship_n to_o take_v the_o premise_n into_o consideration_n and_o to_o make_v such_o order_n viscount_n stafford_n which_o be_v sound_a by_o this_o house_n to_o be_v unnecessary_a this_o house_n do_v declare_v that_o the_o king_n writ_n ought_v to_o be_v obey_v the_o say_v sheriff_n likewise_o make_v application_n to_o the_o house_n of_o commons_o upon_o the_o aforesaid_a matter_n who_o make_v the_o follow_a resolve_v die_v jovis_n 23_o decembris_fw-la 1680._o resolve_v etc._n etc._n that_o this_o house_n be_v content_a that_o the_o sheriff_n of_o london_n and_o middlesex_n do_v execute_v william_n late_a viscount_n stafford_n by_o sever_a his_o head_n from_o his_o body_n only_o wednesday_n december_n 29._o 1680._o about_o the_o hour_n of_o ten_o in_o the_o morning_n the_o sheriff_n receive_v the_o prisoner_n according_a to_o the_o command_n of_o the_o writ_n from_o the_o lieutenant_n of_o the_o tower_n and_o bring_v he_o upon_o the_o scaffold_n which_o be_v erect_v on_o tower-hill_n the_o prisoner_n take_v a_o paper_n out_o of_o his_o pocket_n and_o put_v off_o his_o hat_n read_v it_o as_o his_o speech_n which_o the_o very_a same_o day_n before_o two_o of_o the_o clock_n come_v out_o in_o print_n as_o his_o speech_n and_o he_o deliver_v divers_a copy_n sign_v by_o himself_o to_o mr._n sheriff_n cornish_n and_o other_o gentleman_n about_o he_o he_o then_o desire_v he_o may_v have_v liberty_n to_o pray_v in_o his_o own_o way_n which_o be_v grant_v he_o kneel_v down_o by_o the_o block_n and_o take_v out_o of_o his_o pocket_n another_o paper_n he_o read_v a_o latin_a prayer_n which_o do_v he_o give_v the_o paper_n to_o mr._n sheriff_n bethel_n and_o then_o speak_v to_o the_o people_n about_o the_o scaffold_n to_o this_o effect_n god_n bless_v you_o all_o gentleman_n god_n preserve_v his_o majesty_n he_o be_v aâ—good_o a_o prince_n as_o ever_o govern_v you_o obey_v he_o as_o faithful_o as_o i_o have_v do_v and_o god_n bless_v you_o all_o gentlemen_z then_o he_o strip_v himself_o to_o his_o waistcoat_n and_o after_o some_o â—ew_a short_a private_a discourse_n with_o his_o friend_n he_o lay_v down_o his_o neck_n on_o the_o block_n and_o stretch_v himself_o the_o executioner_n be_v demand_v by_o the_o sheriff_n whether_o he_o have_v any_o sign_n he_o answer_v no._n then_o the_o prisoner_n raise_v up_o his_o head_n and_o say_v he_o have_v no_o sign_n to_o give_v but_o the_o executioner_n may_v take_v his_o opportunity_n and_o lay_v his_o neck_n on_o the_o block_n again_o after_o which_o in_o a_o short_a time_n the_o executioner_n do_v his_o office_n by_o sever_a his_o head_n from_o his_o body_n and_o hold_v up_o the_o head_n in_o his_o hand_n carry_v it_o about_o the_o scafsold_a show_v it_o to_o the_o people_n and_o say_v here_o be_v the_o head_n of_o a_o traitor_n the_o body_n be_v put_v into_o a_o coffin_n and_o convey_v to_o the_o tower_n finis_fw-la
