often_o the_o rod_n of_o god_n anger_n to_o correct_v we_o and_o if_o we_o still_o neglect_v their_o soul_n they_o may_v become_v the_o sword_n of_o his_o vengeance_n to_o destroy_v we_o 2._o we_o come_v as_o far_o short_a of_o their_o reformation_n with_o respect_n to_o the_o sin_n that_o be_v suppress_v for_o all_o the_o abomination_n that_o be_v spy_v in_o the_o land_n of_o judah_n and_o jerusalem_n and_o that_o be_v in_o all_o the_o country_n of_o the_o child_n of_o israel_n do_v they_o put_v away_o and_o restore_v their_o religious_a worship_n to_o its_o great_a purity_n according_a to_o all_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n so_o that_o their_o reformation_n seem_v to_o be_v perfect_a in_o this_o respect_n but_o we_o be_v very_o defective_a for_o it_o have_v not_o yet_o be_v extend_v so_o far_o and_o many_o great_a sin_n which_o our_o penal_a law_n do_v not_o reach_v be_v still_o commit_v with_o impunity_n and_o those_o that_o be_v punishable_a do_v often_o escape_v some_o person_n pretend_v to_o a_o prerogative_n above_o the_o law_n of_o god_n and_o man_n to_o profane_v the_o sabbath_n how_o much_o precious_a time_n be_v sinful_o misspend_v in_o alehouse_n and_o tavern_n through_o the_o week_n and_o some_o be_v not_o ashamed_a to_o be_v find_v in_o they_o on_o the_o lord_n day_n if_o they_o be_v not_o catch_v there_o in_o the_o short_a time_n of_o divine_a service_n nay_o what_o curse_v and_o swear_v perjury_n and_o blasphemy_n oppression_n and_o injustice_n lewdness_n and_o profaneness_n etc._n etc._n be_v still_o abound_v among_o we_o and_o many_o be_v impudent_a to_o serve_v the_o devil_n by_o such_o wickedness_n when_o few_o be_v zealous_a for_o god_n to_o give_v information_n and_o put_v the_o law_n in_o execution_n against_o they_o and_o if_o they_o do_v not_o escape_v that_o be_v so_o much_o more_o reform_v 5.29_o jer_n 5.29_o what_o shall_v become_v of_o such_o a_o sinful_a nation_n as_o this_o the_o seven_o and_o last_o cause_n of_o our_o fear_n that_o i_o will_v mention_v be_v from_o the_o many_o other_o sin_n which_o abound_v among_o we_o that_o can_v easy_o be_v restrain_v by_o humane_a law_n nor_o fall_v under_o such_o a_o reformation_n as_o many_o backslide_n and_o declension_n in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n great_a formality_n and_o hypocrisy_n in_o his_o worship_n murmur_a complaint_n 10.10_o 1_o cer._n 10.10_o and_o discontent_n at_o the_o providence_n of_o god_n division_n and_o contention_n among_o professor_n the_o sin_n of_o sodom_n as_o pride_n 16.49_o ezek._n 16.49_o fullness_n of_o bread_n and_o abundance_n of_o idleness_n love_n of_o the_o world_n and_o covetousness_n which_o be_v idolatry_n etc._n etc._n for_o these_o and_o such_o like_a sin_n may_v the_o wrath_n of_o god_n be_v pour_v out_o upon_o a_o people_n and_o so_o much_o of_o they_o be_v find_v among_o we_o that_o may_v just_o increase_v our_o fear_n that_o notwithstanding_o all_o our_o reformation_n the_o lord_n may_v not_o turn_v from_o the_o fierceness_n of_o his_o wrath_n wherewith_o his_o anger_n be_v kindle_v against_o we_o etc._n etc._n but_o some_o may_v possible_o think_v objection_n objection_n that_o these_o thing_n be_v unseasonable_a upon_o this_o occasion_n and_o object_n that_o they_o expect_v only_a encouragement_n to_o this_o work_n and_o behold_v i_o have_v discourage_v they_o altogether_o for_o to_o what_o purpose_n shall_v they_o be_v active_a in_o it_o if_o notwithstanding_o all_o they_o do_v we_o be_v still_o in_o danger_n and_o how_o can_v they_o be_v diligent_a that_o be_v possess_v with_o these_o fear_n answer_v 1_o 1._o ans_fw-fr 1._o if_o there_o be_v such_o real_a ground_n of_o fear_n it_o be_v neither_o safe_a nor_o prudent_a to_o conceal_v and_o be_v iguorant_a of_o they_o for_o the_o judgement_n we_o fear_v will_v neither_o come_v soon_o nor_o be_v great_a because_o they_o be_v foresee_v and_o discern_v at_o a_o distance_n every_o wise_a person_n will_v desire_v to_o know_v his_o danger_n 23.3_o prov._n 23.3_o for_o the_o prudent_a man_n forsee_v the_o evil_a and_o hide_v himself_o but_o the_o simple_a pass_n on_o and_o be_v punish_v 2._o 2._o ans_fw-fr 2._o true_a zeal_n will_v not_o be_v discourage_v but_o rather_o animate_v by_o apprehension_n of_o danger_n as_o true_a valour_n never_o appear_v so_o much_o as_o in_o the_o most_o hazardous_a attempt_n endeavour_n and_o shall_v make_v the_o slothful_a diligent_a and_o the_o coward_n courageous_a person_n in_o a_o storm_n need_v no_o other_o motive_n to_o excite_v they_o to_o the_o use_n of_o all_o mean_n for_o their_o safety_n than_o a_o sense_n of_o their_o perilous_a condition_n their_o danger_n be_v sufficient_a to_o provoke_v their_o diligence_n and_o we_o never_o labour_v so_o hard_a and_o successful_o as_o when_o we_o work_v with_o fear_n and_o tremble_v 2.12_o philip_n 2.12_o so_o that_o these_o be_v proper_a motive_n to_o excite_v your_o zeal_n and_o quicken_v your_o diligence_n in_o this_o work_n 3._o 3._o ans_fw-fr 3._o it_o be_v not_o a_o prospect_n of_o the_o event_n but_o a_o sense_n of_o duty_n that_o do_v chief_o determine_v upright_a person_n in_o their_o virtuous_a your_o great_a duty_n so_o it_o may_v be_v a_o trial_n of_o your_o sincerity_n if_o in_o the_o face_n and_o over_o the_o fear_n of_o all_o danger_n you_o be_v constant_a and_o vigorous_a in_o the_o work_n of_o reformation_n 4._o 4._o ans_fw-fr 4._o if_o you_o be_v sincere_a and_o zealous_a in_o this_o work_n you_o shall_v not_o lose_v your_o reward_n which_o do_v not_o depend_v upon_o your_o success_n but_o your_o faithful_a diligence_n in_o it_o and_o suppose_v the_o worst_a that_o your_o fear_n can_v suggest_v concern_v the_o issue_n of_o it_o the_o lord_n will_v accept_v your_o labour_n and_o make_v you_o honourable_a you_o may_v deliver_v your_o own_o soul_n have_v great_a peace_n 5._o isa_n 49.4_o 5._o and_o hope_n of_o everlasting_a glory_n your_o work_n be_v with_o your_o god_n and_o you_o shall_v be_v glorious_a in_o his_o eye_n 5._o 5._o ans_fw-fr 5._o though_o there_o be_v such_o cause_n of_o fear_n to_o make_v you_o serious_a yet_o there_o be_v also_o ground_n of_o hope_n to_o encourage_v and_o make_v you_o cheerful_a in_o this_o work_n it_o be_v a_o very_a critical_a season_n in_o which_o god_n keep_v we_o upon_o our_o good_a behaviour_n that_o you_o may_v be_v cautious_a and_o careful_a to_o approve_v yourselves_o to_o he_o in_o what_o you_o do_v we_o have_v trespass_v against_o the_o lord_n and_o therefore_o shall_v be_v afraid_a of_o
