even_o to_o the_o brim_n indeed_o what_o be_v there_o then_o remain_v that_o can_v in_o any_o reason_n be_v think_v able_a to_o move_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n to_o long_a forbearance_n when_o none_o bewail_v or_o as_o good_a as_o none_o when_o none_o supplicate_v when_o none_o plead_v the_o causeat_a the_o bar_n of_o his_o mercy_n how_o can_v justice_n but_o raise_v itself_o up_o and_o smite_v the_o abuser_n of_o former_a mercy_n with_o so_o much_o great_a severity_n by_o how_o much_o they_o have_v be_v long_o bear_v withal_o and_o further_o destruction_n they_o shall_v perish_v in_o the_o common_a destruction_n it_o will_v come_v to_o pass_v from_o this_o let_a sin_n slip_v away_o by_o they_o without_o sorrow_n that_o the_o child_n of_o god_n if_o any_o few_o grain_n of_o wheat_n be_v find_v hide_v in_o the_o huge_a heap_n of_o chaff_n shall_v perish_v in_o the_o common_a destruction_n and_o be_v smite_v with_o the_o rest_n because_o they_o mourn_v not_o for_o the_o rest_n but_o do_v rather_o partake_v of_o their_o sin_n by_o not_o oppose_v they_o for_o none_o be_v in_o mercy_n mark_v for_o the_o day_n of_o deliverance_n but_o a_o mourner_n though_o a_o man_n be_v for_o the_o general_a upright_o and_o godly_a yet_o if_o in_o that_o particular_a he_o do_v so_o far_o degenerate_a from_o the_o rule_n of_o godliness_n that_o he_o remain_v sorrowless_a for_o the_o dishonour_n do_v to_o god_n by_o other_o this_o ungrieve_v disposition_n have_v so_o deep_o engage_v he_o into_o the_o guilt_n of_o those_o sin_n that_o it_o will_v very_o hardly_o stand_v with_o the_o truth_n and_o wisdom_n of_o god_n to_o let_v he_o go_v free_a but_o he_o must_v cause_v he_o for_o the_o good_a of_o his_o own_o soul_n by_o the_o smart_n of_o cross_n to_o grieve_v for_o such_o evil_n as_o else_o he_o will_v not_o grieve_v for_o so_o mischief_n upon_o mischief_n break_v in_o when_o tear_n and_o mourn_a stand_v not_o up_o to_o prevent_v the_o same_o a_o man_n self_n be_v infect_v he_o become_v careless_a of_o reform_v evil_n god_n smite_v the_o whole_a society_n for_o the_o sin_n now_o commit_v by_o all_o and_o lament_v by_o none_o and_o then_o he_o that_o mourn_v not_o must_v himself_o also_o smart_a for_o company_n shall_v we_o not_o seek_v to_o stop_v the_o way_n against_o all_o and_o each_o of_o these_o evil_n by_o entrench_v ourselves_o as_o it_o be_v within_o these_o river_n of_o water_n and_o so_o brethren_n you_o have_v reason_n great_a store_n to_o prove_v the_o duty_n and_o persuade_v unto_o it_o if_o you_o love_v god_n who_o sin_n grieve_v if_o you_o love_v your_o neighbour_n who_o sin_n hurt_v and_o if_o you_o hate_v sin_n itself_o which_o all_o aught_o to_o hate_v that_o love_n god_n and_o their_o neighbour_n if_o you_o consider_v how_o loathsome_a and_o grievous_a a_o thing_n sin_n be_v how_o offensive_a to_o god_n yea_o and_o injurious_a how_o harmful_a also_o to_o mankind_n both_o to_o he_o that_o dare_v practice_v it_o who_o soul_n it_o tumble_v to_o the_o bottom_n of_o hell_n beside_o other_o cross_n of_o all_o sort_n which_o attend_v it_o for_o the_o present_a and_o also_o to_o the_o country_n where_o it_o be_v suffer_v cause_v the_o lord_n to_o send_v out_o sword_n pestilence_n famine_n and_o all_o manner_n of_o doleful_a misery_n against_o it_o if_o you_o consider_v that_o this_o mourning_n will_v sure_o cause_v the_o lord_n to_o reprieve_n the_o whole_a country_n and_o that_o it_o will_v keep_v the_o soul_n of_o the_o mourner_n free_a from_o infection_n and_o stir_v he_o up_o to_o all_o due_a mean_n of_o redress_v sin_n and_o so_o save_v his_o own_o soul_n at_o least_o from_o the_o common_a calamity_n when_o it_o can_v now_o be_v long_a not_o defer_v and_o last_o if_o you_o remember_v that_o where_o this_o mourning_n be_v absent_a a_o man_n soul_n will_v sure_o be_v infect_v he_o will_v grow_v careless_a of_o do_v that_o which_o he_o ought_v to_o do_v for_o redress_v of_o evil_a and_o so_o sin_n grow_v mighty_a will_v infallible_o and_o inevitable_o procure_v a_o common_a judgement_n in_o which_o himself_o shall_v also_o as_o a_o man_n not_o sign_v for_o deliverance_n be_v take_v away_o among_o the_o rest_n if_o i_o say_v you_o do_v acknowledge_v and_o confess_v all_o these_o thing_n as_o they_o be_v all_o manifest_a and_o do_v serious_o lay_v they_o to_o heart_n you_o can_v choose_v but_o yield_v in_o your_o very_a conscience_n that_o you_o all_o aught_o to_o do_v as_o the_o prophet_n here_o profess_v to_o the_o lord_n that_o himself_o be_v wont_a to_o do_v even_o cause_n rivers_n of_o water_n gush_v out_o of_o your_o eye_n because_o man_n keep_v not_o the_o law_n of_o god_n chap._n vi_o contain_v the_o first_o use_n of_o the_o point_n a_o reproof_n of_o they_o that_o do_v neglect_v this_o duty_n use_v 1_o but_o alas_o alas_o my_o brethren_n sin_n reproof_n of_o those_o that_o mourn_v not_o for_o common_a sin_n how_o slow_a and_o backward_o have_v we_o all_o be_v to_o this_o so_o plain_a and_o needful_a a_o duty_n ah_o it_o be_v most_o evident_a that_o we_o deserve_v most_o sharp_a reprehension_n for_o be_v so_o scant_o in_o tear_n for_o that_o for_o which_o this_o man_n of_o god_n do_v weep_v so_o abundant_o for_o where_o be_v there_o my_o brethren_n alack_o where_o be_v there_o to_o be_v find_v one_o man_n among_o we_o that_o have_v imitate_v so_o precious_a and_o withal_o so_o manifest_a example_n where_o be_v his_o dwell_n who_o face_n be_v cover_v with_o these_o tear_n and_o cheek_n make_v wet_a with_o this_o weep_n in_o what_o corner_n may_v we_o meet_v with_o he_o or_o she_o that_o be_v able_a to_o profess_v in_o truth_n before_o the_o lord_n and_o his_o own_o soul_n o_o lord_n river_n of_o water_n have_v run_v down_o my_o eye_n because_o they_o keep_v not_o thy_o law_n o_o no_o no_o we_o be_v sell_v over_o to_o mirth_n and_o jollity_n behold_v slay_v of_o ox_n and_o kill_v of_o sheep_n eat_v and_o drink_v and_o call_v to_o hang_v sorrow_n as_o once_o among_o the_o jew_n behold_v pipe_v and_o dance_v and_o minstrelsey_n behold_v make_v out_o heart_n fat_a and_o jovial_a as_o in_o a_o day_n of_o slaughter_n but_o alas_o ah_o alas_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o land_n be_v not_o lay_v to_o to_o heart_n by_o almost_o any_o of_o those_o that_o inhabit_v the_o land_n and_o for_o a_o thousand_o sinner_n hardly_o have_v we_o one_o weeper_n as_o for_o the_o common_a multitude_n why_o they_o will_v think_v he_o even_o quite_o out_o of_o his_o wit_n who_o face_n they_o shall_v see_v blubber_a with_o weep_v in_o a_o corner_n and_o why_o forsooth_o because_o his_o neighbour_n be_v wicked_a and_o ill_a live_a man_n and_o keep_v not_o god_n precept_n why_o will_v they_o think_v and_o say_v what_o be_v that_o to_o he_o shall_v he_o bear_v other_o man_n burden_n or_o answer_v for_o other_o man_n sin_n or_o can_v he_o mend_v their_o fault_n by_o sigh_v and_o weep_v for_o they_o why_o then_o shall_v he_o vex_v himself_o for_o that_o which_o will_v bear_v never_o a_o whit_n the_o better_a if_o he_o shall_v vex_v his_o heart_n out_o at_o it_o this_o will_v be_v the_o censure_n of_o the_o common_a and_o ordinary_a man_n of_o such_o a_o mourner_n as_o the_o text_n speak_v of_o they_o will_v count_v his_o tear_n ill_o spend_v and_o himself_o a_o fool_n for_o his_o labour_n and_o as_o be_v their_o judgement_n such_o be_v and_o such_o needs_o must_v be_v their_o practice_n they_o never_o in_o all_o their_o life_n weep_v one_o ten_o part_n of_o a_o tear_n for_o all_o the_o sin_n and_o abominable_a deed_n that_o ever_o they_o hear_v of_o or_o see_v commit_v unless_o it_o have_v fall_v out_o that_o the_o same_o thing_n have_v be_v a_o hurt_n unto_o themselves_o or_o some_o other_o man_n who_o case_n they_o have_v tender_v and_o so_o bemoan_v the_o person_n not_o bewail_v the_o sin_n be_v sorry_a for_o it_o as_o a_o injury_n against_o man_n not_o as_o a_o transgression_n of_o god_n precept_n but_o this_o neglect_n be_v not_o find_v alone_o with_o the_o vulgar_a sort_n of_o man_n nay_o those_o that_o have_v get_v some_o good_a measure_n of_o knowledge_n and_o of_o virtue_n and_o do_v exercise_v themselves_o with_o some_o due_a care_n to_o keep_v themselves_o unsported_a of_o the_o wicked_a world_n even_o these_o also_o for_o the_o most_o part_n have_v eye_n altogether_o dry_a and_o tearless_a in_o regard_n of_o other_o man_n offence_n who_o of_o those_o that_o seem_v to_o know_v and_o fear_n god_n &_o to_o delight_v
and_o sensible_a sorrow_n that_o david_n here_o speak_v of_o and_o he_o that_o accustome_v himself_o to_o that_o habitual_a grief_n of_o the_o will_v take_v displeasure_n against_o a_o evil_a thing_n make_v itself_o averse_a from_o it_o and_o wish_v that_o it_o have_v never_o be_v shall_v in_o due_a season_n be_v bless_v by_o god_n with_o the_o spirit_n of_o tenderness_n which_o shall_v most_o kind_o and_o gentle_o soften_v his_o heart_n and_o cause_v his_o soul_n to_o be_v so_o mellow_a and_o easy_a to_o be_v wrought_v upon_o that_o he_o shall_v even_o sweet_o and_o free_o pour_v forth_o this_o his_o drinke-offering_a before_o the_o lord_n and_o most_o sweet_o water_v his_o soul_n with_o these_o april_n shower_n of_o tear_n which_o shall_v make_v it_o fertile_a not_o alone_o in_o he_o flower_n of_o present_o ensue_a comfort_n but_o also_o in_o the_o rich_a harvest_n of_o virtue_n and_o godliness_n and_o the_o plentiful_a reward_n thereof_o wherefore_o carry_v this_o short_a when_o he_o see_v man_n wicked_o to_o break_v the_o statute_n of_o god_n when_o he_o see_v wickedness_n commit_v in_o every_o place_n and_o know_v not_o how_o to_o help_v it_o what_o do_v he_o do_v he_o weep_v and_o sigh_v and_o lament_v and_o cry_v and_o take_v on_o very_o pitiful_o even_o as_o if_o some_o great_a cross_n have_v befall_v himself_o and_o as_o if_o his_o own_o person_n have_v confirm_v his_o faith_n and_o assure_v himself_o of_o his_o uprightness_n then_o of_o his_o sorrow_n for_o his_o own_o particular_a fault_n we_o have_v example_n of_o damn_a hypocrite_n that_o have_v be_v sad_a and_o heavy_a for_o their_o own_o sin_n in_o some_o case_n as_o ahab_n judas_n saul_n and_o he_o rest_v but_o we_o have_v never_o any_o example_n of_o any_o that_o lament_v the_o public_a and_o common_a wickedness_n of_o the_o church_n or_o nation_n where_o he_o live_v and_o of_o the_o person_n among_o who_o he_o converse_v unless_o accidental_o when_o the_o sin_n have_v fall_v out_o to_o be_v injurious_a and_o troublesome_a to_o themselves_o or_o to_o their_o friend_n but_o of_o those_o which_o we_o be_v well_o assure_v to_o have_v be_v true_o sanctify_v and_o now_o to_o be_v matrimony_n and_o endeavour_v careful_o and_o express_o to_o prevent_v such_o a_o opinion_n we_o may_v inform_v our_o self_n thus_o much_o that_o it_o behove_v man_n to_o take_v heed_n of_o account_v those_o thing_n sinful_a or_o unlawful_a that_o be_v not_o so_o no_o man_n must_v make_v more_o fault_n than_o god_n make_v our_o judgement_n shall_v be_v always_o so_o clear_a and_o sound_a that_o we_o may_v esteem_v of_o thing_n as_o they_o be_v and_o call_v that_o lawful_a which_o be_v lawful_a as_o well_o as_o that_o wicked_a which_o be_v wicked_a and_o as_o in_o the_o tribunal_n of_o humane_a justice_n a_o guiltless_a man_n must_v not_o be_v sentence_v as_o guilty_a so_o at_o the_o bar_n of_o humane_a reason_n a_o faultless_a action_n must_v not_o be_v wrong_o burden_v with_o anger_n to_o burn_v up_o corn_n and_o grass_n and_o the_o necessary_a provision_n for_o man_n sustenance_n sometime_o again_o it_o do_v open_v the_o same_o bottle_n overlong_o and_o cause_v the_o cloud_n as_o in_o a_o rage_n to_o drown_v up_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o earth_n that_o man_n and_o beast_n shall_v feed_v upon_o this_o also_o make_v the_o earth_n itself_o as_o it_o be_v
