to_o serve_v the_o nation_n as_o some_o honourable_a gentleman_n tell_v i_o he_o do_v he_o be_v please_v upon_o the_o read_n this_o follow_a petition_n to_o give_v i_o and_o some_o other_o gentleman_n which_o i_o have_v nominate_v in_o trust_n for_o my_o use_n this_o ensue_a warrant_n for_o the_o make_n of_o a_o public_a farthing_n for_o the_o use_n of_o england_n scotland_n and_o ireland_n refer_v the_o approbation_n and_o confirmation_n thereof_o to_o the_o parliament_n to_o provide_v such_o order_n and_o rule_n as_o they_o think_v best_a for_o the_o good_a of_o the_o people_n i_o use_v the_o name_n of_o edward_n johnson_n esq_n and_o some_o other_o name_n for_o my_o use_n and_o here_o follow_v my_o petition_n and_o reference_n from_o his_o late_a highness_n and_o if_o the_o parliament_n please_v to_o employ_v i_o in_o this_o service_n and_o to_o grant_v i_o for_o thirty_o one_o year_n the_o entire_a and_o whole_a management_n of_o this_o office_n for_o make_v a_o common_a farthing_n i_o will_v thankful_o accept_v of_o the_o employment_n and_o humble_o and_o thankful_o allow_v it_o as_o five_o thousand_o pound_n pay_v unto_o your_o petitioner_n from_o the_o commonwealth_n in_o part_n of_o his_o due_a debt_n of_o eleven_o thousand_o pound_n for_o stay_v the_o aforesaid_a silver_n and_o your_o petitioner_n will_v be_v tie_v to_o pay_v the_o maim_a soldier_n during_o the_o time_n of_o this_o grant_n twelvepence_n upon_o every_o twenty_o two_o shilling_n in_o farthing_n which_o shall_v be_v utter_v by_o i_o or_o my_o assign_n in_o england_n scotland_n and_o ireland_n which_o will_v be_v a_o constant_a revenue_n and_o i_o will_v pay_v it_o in_o monthly_a to_o the_o treasurer_n for_o the_o maim_a soldier_n and_o if_o the_o state_n please_v to_o have_v farthing_n make_v of_o a_o small_a proportion_n i_o will_v allow_v the_o soldier_n five_o shilling_n for_o every_o twenty_o two_o shilling_n and_o yet_o these_o copper_n farthing_n shall_v be_v above_o as_o heavy_a again_o do_v the_o ordinary_a farthing_n that_o now_o pass_v among_o we_o to_o his_o highness_n richard_z lord_z protector_z of_o england_n scotland_n and_o ireland_n and_o the_o dominion_n and_o territory_n thereunto_o belong_v the_o humble_a petition_n of_o edward_n johnson_n junior_n esq_n etc._n etc._n showeth_n that_o there_o be_v many_o fraud_n and_o deceit_n daily_o practise_v by_o diverse_a petty_a retayl_a tradesman_n chapman_n and_o other_o in_o make_v and_o utter_v farthing_n token_n of_o their_o own_o stamp_v almost_o every_o petty_a retayl_a tradesman_n put_v forth_o a_o several_a farthing_n token_n not_o valueable_a without_o any_o licence_n some_o of_o pewter_n tinn_n lead_v brass_n and_o some_o of_o copper_n according_a to_o every_o man_n fancy_n that_o make_v their_o own_o farthing_n token_n great_a number_n of_o these_o retayl_a tradesman_n break_v other_o remove_v themselves_o from_o one_o place_n to_o another_o and_o many_o of_o they_o die_v insolvant_n and_o their_o farthing_n token_n thus_o undue_o utter_v beiug_n not_o valueable_a one_o of_o they_o not_o be_v worth_a in_o value_n the_o six_o part_n of_o a_o farthing_n and_o some_o of_o their_o farthing_n token_n not_o worth_a the_o twenty_o part_n of_o a_o farthing_n the_o people_n of_o this_o nation_n especial_o the_o poor_a sort_n be_v daily_o cheat_v and_o cozen_v by_o these_o indirect_a practice_n to_o prevent_v these_o abuse_n for_o the_o future_a your_o petitioner_n humble_o pray_v your_o highness_n that_o a_o common_a valueable_a farthing_n may_v be_v make_v of_o fine_a rose_n copper_n of_o a_o valueable_a weight_n that_o be_v to_o say_v of_o the_o weight_n of_o about_o half_a a_o quarter_n of_o a_o ounce_n haver_n du_fw-fr boy_n to_o a_o farthing_n and_o twenty_o two_o shilling_n by_o tail_n to_o weigh_v eight_o pound_n haver_n du_fw-fr boy_n with_o the_o remedy_n of_o six_o penny_n under_o or_o over_o to_o pass_v currant_n within_o your_o highness_n dominion_n of_o england_n scotland_n and_o ireland_n for_o all_o such_o person_n as_o will_v make_v use_n of_o they_o for_o their_o necessity_n of_o change_n and_o to_o prohibit_v all_o other_o farthing_n token_n now_o make_v or_o to_o be_v make_v or_o utter_v within_o your_o highness_n dominion_n aforesaid_a that_o to_o have_v a_o valueable_a common_a farthing_n to_o be_v make_v to_o pass_v currant_n within_o your_o highness_n say_v dominion_n be_v so_o needful_a a_o thing_n in_o the_o commonwealth_n and_o of_o such_o necessity_n for_o change_n that_o the_o make_n of_o the_o same_o will_v relieve_v and_o accommodate_v many_o thousand_o of_o petty_a tradesman_n and_o poor_a people_n as_o will_v plain_o appear_v unto_o your_o highness_n in_o our_o most_o humble_a reason_n and_o motive_n hereunto_o annex_v to_o which_o we_o do_v most_o humble_o refer_v your_o petitioner_n most_o humble_o pray_v your_o highness_n in_o respect_n of_o the_o great_a charge_n and_o trouble_v they_o shall_v undergo_v in_o perform_v this_o service_n for_o the_o good_a of_o the_o common_a wealth_n to_o grant_v unto_o they_o and_o their_o assign_n and_o deputy_n the_o sole_a make_n and_o utter_v of_o the_o aforesaid_a common_a farthing_n for_o one_o and_o thirty_o year_n and_o to_o prohibit_v all_o other_o farthing_n and_o the_o make_n and_o counterfeit_v of_o this_o farthing_n by_o any_o other_o upon_o pain_n and_o loss_n of_o estate_n and_o imprisonment_n during_o your_o highness_n pleasure_n and_o in_o consideration_n thereof_o your_o petitioner_n will_v serve_v your_o highness_n dominion_n with_o valueable_a farthing_n of_o the_o goodness_n and_o weight_n aforesaid_a and_o also_o pay_v unto_o your_o highness_n exchequer_n to_o your_o highness_n use_n twelve_o penny_n for_o every_o two_o and_o
