do_v not_o only_o plain_o describe_v the_o corruption_n of_o man_n nature_n say_v the_o thought_n and_o imagination_n of_o man_n heart_n be_v only_o evil_a every_o day_n from_o his_o youth_n upwarde_o and_o again_o there_o be_v none_o that_o do_v good_a no_o not_o one_o they_o be_v all_o become_v corrupt_a &_o abominal_a le_fw-fr etc._n etc._n but_o also_o by_o his_o prophet_n peremptory_o tell_v we_o that_o our_o sin_n be_v they_o that_o make_v a_o separation_n betwixt_o the_o lord_n and_o we_o and_o again_o in_o another_o place_n thy_o destruction_n o_o israel_n be_v of_o thyself_o for_o the_o further_a clear_n and_o confirmation_n of_o which_o point_n we_o be_v to_o mark_v that_o god_n at_o the_o first_o make_v man_n just_a holy_a innocent_a righteous_a etc._n etc._n but_o he_o not_o continue_v in_o that_o excellent_a estate_n corrupt_v himself_o and_o all_o his_o posterity_n who_o as_o they_o be_v by_o creation_n in_o his_o loin_n so_o be_v they_o all_o stand_v with_o he_o in_o innocence_n have_v he_o stand_v and_o fall_v together_o with_o he_o through_o transgression_n so_o that_o now_o it_o be_v no_o more_o natural_a for_o man_n as_o man_n that_o be_v to_o say_v vitiate_a and_o corrupt_v as_o he_o be_v to_o breath_n or_o speak_v than_o it_o be_v for_o all_o and_o every_o one_o of_o they_o every_o way_n and_o every_o day_n to_o sin_n on_o the_o other_o side_n god_n be_v a_o god_n with_o who_o there_o can_v dwell_v no_o manner_n of_o wickedness_n yea_o who_o eye_n can_v at_o no_o hand_n behold_v that_o which_o be_v evil_a whether_o it_o be_v in_o devise_n or_o desire_v in_o thought_n in_o word_n or_o in_o deed_n as_o soon_o therefore_o as_o man_n have_v sin_v any_o manner_n of_o way_n so_o soon_o have_v he_o plunge_v himself_o as_o in_o regard_n of_o god_n absolute_a and_o exact_a justice_n into_o most_o grievous_a and_o fearful_a judgement_n and_o though_o god_n strike_v not_o present_o therefore_o as_o we_o see_v many_o time_n according_a to_o his_o nature_n inclinable_a to_o mercy_n yea_o mercy_n itself_o he_o do_v with_o much_o patience_n and_o lenity_n forbear_v we_o must_v not_o think_v as_o the_o wicked_a do_v that_o either_o he_o do_v it_o not_o because_o he_o can_v for_o what_o be_v it_o that_o he_o can_v accomplish_v or_o because_o he_o care_v not_o for_o the_o sin_n of_o our_o soul_n for_o we_o know_v that_o he_o hate_v sin_n and_o sinner_n to_o but_o rather_o to_o express_v the_o wonderful_a overflow_a mercy_n that_o be_v in_o he_o wait_v for_o man_n conversion_n if_o it_o may_v be_v yea_o assay_v to_o work_n it_o by_o all_o good_a mean_n possible_a or_o else_o that_o forbear_v they_o and_o they_o not_o amend_v he_o way_n the_o more_o sharp_o and_o severe_o in_o his_o justice_n punish_v they_o for_o abuse_v of_o his_o goodness_n and_o turn_v his_o grace_n into_o wantonness_n as_o the_o apostle_n say_v which_o thing_n the_o world_n either_o not_o sound_o know_v or_o else_o not_o sincere_o confess_v the_o same_o to_o be_v true_a fall_v into_o fearful_a dangerous_a yea_o deadly_a extremity_n sometime_o accuse_v god_n of_o injustice_n as_o as_o that_o either_o he_o strike_v they_o without_o cause_n or_o more_o than_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o offence_n commit_v they_o have_v deserve_v sometime_o they_o post_v the_o cause_n of_o their_o punishment_n from_o themselves_o to_o other_o suppose_v that_o other_o man_n sin_n rather_o than_o their_o own_o have_v thus_o provoke_v the_o lord_n and_o sometime_o again_o they_o ascribe_v or_o attribute_v all_o to_o secondary_a cause_n as_o to_o such_o a_o conjunction_n and_o influence_n of_o such_o and_o such_o planet_n to_o the_o negligence_n or_o reachlesnes_n of_o such_o and_o such_o person_n to_o the_o strength_n and_o power_n of_o such_o and_o such_o wind_n and_o water_n etc._n etc._n and_o sometime_o they_o do_v profane_o charge_v and_o accuse_v their_o miserable_a mishap_n or_o fortune_n as_o they_o call_v it_o make_v she_o with_o the_o heathen_a a_o god_n or_o goddess_n and_o sometime_o they_o fling_v out_o into_o one_o corruption_n and_o sometime_o to_o another_o by_o mean_n whereof_o they_o as_o much_o as_o in_o they_o lie_v rob_v god_n of_o his_o government_n as_o though_o there_o be_v any_o thing_n that_o without_o he_o or_o against_o he_o do_v bear_v sway_n in_o the_o world_n and_o spoil_v he_o of_o his_o justice_n as_o though_o that_o he_o which_o indeed_o be_v the_o only_a just_a judge_n of_o the_o world_n can_v do_v injustice_n or_o wrong_n and_o forget_v his_o long_a forbear_v hand_n and_o so_o beside_o that_o they_o deprive_v he_o of_o his_o honour_n in_o thankfulness_n profit_v not_o thereby_o to_o amendment_n &_o make_v other_o thing_n namely_o creature_n god_n &_o a_o creator_n as_o it_o be_v yea_o sometime_o such_o thing_n as_o never_o be_v in_o the_o nature_n of_o
thing_n but_o in_o man_n imagination_n and_o conceit_n only_o and_o hinder_v themselves_o &_o it_o may_v be_v other_o likewise_o by_o their_o bad_a example_n also_o from_o the_o sight_n and_o sense_n of_o sin_n yea_o from_o religious_a repentance_n and_o godly_a sorrow_n for_o the_o same_o whereby_o they_o may_v be_v lead_v unto_o amendment_n of_o life_n not_o to_o be_v repent_v of_o and_o plunge_v themselves_o into_o innumerable_a pain_n of_o body_n and_o soul_n here_o and_o without_o special_a favour_n and_o grace_n of_o forgiveness_n from_o god_n who_o only_o forgive_v sin_n into_o everlasting_a tormenr_n in_o the_o world_n to_o come_v whereas_o god_n child_n be_v so_o far_o off_o from_o enter_v into_o these_o corrupt_a course_n that_o many_o time_n before_o judgement_n i_o will_v not_o say_v have_v seize_v upon_o they_o but_o even_o before_o they_o have_v be_v threaten_v against_o they_o have_v yet_o in_o the_o reverend_a fear_n which_o they_o have_v have_v in_o their_o heart_n of_o they_o either_o humble_v themselves_o and_o as_o we_o may_v say_v prevent_v the_o pour_v forth_o of_o god_n wrath_n upon_o they_o or_o else_o at_o the_o thunder_a out_o of_o the_o same_o or_o the_o first_o stroke_n thereof_o lay_v upon_o they_o have_v sound_o and_o speedy_o cast_v down_o themselves_o at_o the_o foot_n of_o god_n mercy_n in_o faith_n unfeigned_a and_o sincere_a repentance_n &_o so_o if_o not_o remove_v the_o temporary_a or_o outward_a punishment_n and_o yet_o upon_o their_o submission_n god_n have_v be_v please_v many_o time_n gracious_o to_o grant_v the_o same_o have_v notwithstanding_o find_v favour_n from_o the_o lord_n to_o undergo_v it_o for_o the_o present_a with_o patience_n and_o prayer_n and_o sincere_o to_o profit_v by_o it_o yea_o indeed_o to_o overcome_v it_o to_o christian_a mortification_n and_o holy_a obedience_n as_o for_o the_o end_n why_o god_n shall_v strike_v we_o we_o must_v know_v and_o believe_v that_o it_o be_v impossible_a that_o they_o shall_v be_v whether_o we_o respect_v they_o in_o themselves_o or_o as_o they_o proceed_v from_o he_o that_o be_v only_o good_a of_o any_o other_o nature_n than_o he_o be_v for_o as_o all_o his_o affection_n and_o action_n be_v mere_o and_o absolute_o good_a so_o must_v also_o all_o his_o purpose_n and_o the_o end_n that_o he_o aim_v at_o be_v likewise_o though_o always_o happy_o by_o reason_n of_o satan_n malice_n and_o man_n corruption_n they_o bring_v not_o forth_o this_o effect_n in_o man_n to_o make_v this_o plain_a by_o some_o particular_n his_o love_n be_v absolute_o good_a and_o no_o man_n that_o know_v what_o either_o god_n or_o nature_n mean_v can_v deny_v it_o for_o if_o the_o love_n of_o earthly_a creature_n as_o of_o parent_n to_o child_n husband_n to_o wife_n friend_n to_o friend_n etc._n etc._n be_v good_a and_o lawful_a then_o that_o which_o be_v in_o and_o from_o the_o divine_a majesty_n must_v much_o more_o be_v so_o because_o it_o be_v more_o certain_a more_o holy_a and_o indeed_o infinite_a he_o have_v it_o also_o in_o himself_o and_o of_o himself_o absolute_o &_o perfect_o good_a whereas_o other_o have_v it_o but_o by_o communication_n and_o that_o in_o measure_n and_o in_o man_n much_o vitiate_a and_o corrupt_v through_o the_o taint_n of_o original_a sin_n and_o yet_o this_o so_o excellent_o and_o absolute_o good_a he_o labour_v to_o manifest_v as_o in_o the_o correction_n of_o all_o man_n general_o so_o particular_o of_o his_o own_o people_n and_o child_n according_a to_o which_o the_o spirit_n say_v in_o the_o apostle_n to_o the_o hebrew_n my_o son_n despise_v not_o the_o chasten_n of_o the_o lord_n neither_o faint_a when_o thou_o be_v rebuke_v of_o he_o for_o who_o the_o lord_n love_v he_o chastise_v and_o he_o scourge_v every_o son_n that_o he_o receive_v and_o if_o we_o be_v without_o correction_n whereof_o all_o be_v partaker_n than_o be_v we_o bastard_n and_o not_o son_n and_o dauhgter_n wherefore_o since_o in_o this_o and_o such_o like_a action_n he_o aim_v at_o the_o manifestation_n of_o his_o love_n and_o that_o be_v indeed_o the_o principal_a end_n of_o his_o chastisement_n special_o as_o in_o regard_n of_o his_o own_o people_n it_o can_v be_v but_o good_a true_a it_o be_v that_o flesh_n and_o blood_n see_v not_o this_o nor_o think_v so_o the_o reason_n be_v because_o their_o eye_n be_v blind_a and_o their_o understanding_n dark_a but_o as_o it_o be_v not_o reason_n because_o a_o blind_a man_n behold_v not_o the_o sun_n to_o conclude_v there_o be_v no_o sun_n so_o be_v it_o absurd_a to_o say_v because_o the_o wicked_a worldling_n neither_o feel_v nor_o fear_v these_o thing_n therefore_o they_o be_v not_o for_o these_o be_v as_o all_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o thing_n of_o god_n special_o as_o in_o respect_n of_o his_o purpose_n &_o end_n spiritual_a and_o therefore_o must_v be_v spiritual_o discern_v but_o they_o be_v carnal_a and_o sell_v under_o sin_n again_o in_o as_o much_o as_o since_o the_o depravation_n &_o corrupt_v of_o god_n image_n we_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o both_o in_o body_n and_o soul_n taint_v with_o all_o manner_n of_o evil_n and_o since_o that_o even_o since_o our_o regeneration_n and_o new_a birth_n we_o carry_v about_o with_o we_o so_o long_o as_o we_o dwell_v in_o these_o house_n of_o clay_n and_o earthly_a tabernacle_n the_o relic_n and_o remainder_n of_o sin_n and_o we_o know_v by_o the_o light_n of_o the_o word_n every_o where_o almost_o reveal_v it_o and_o by_o the_o sting_a testimony_n of_o our_o own_o heart_n which_o even_o tell_v it_o we_o every_o day_n that_o we_o rise_v up_o and_o every_o night_n that_o we_o lie_v down_o that_o sin_n displease_v his_o bless_a majesty_n and_o god_n have_v appoint_v punishment_n and_o correction_n both_o outward_a &_o inward_a as_o one_o special_a mean_a to_o repress_v the_o rage_n and_o power_n of_o evil_n in_o we_o while_o it_o scour_v from_o we_o the_o dross_n of_o our_o corruption_n and_o so_o mortify_v in_o some_o measure_n sin_n in_o we_o fashion_v we_o the_o better_a and_o more_o effectual_o unto_o sanctification_n for_o this_o we_o may_v assure_v ourselves_o of_o that_o the_o decay_n of_o the_o one_o be_v the_o increase_n of_o the_o other_o we_o may_v even_o thereby_o see_v as_o if_o it_o be_v in_o a_o most_o clear_a and_o lively_o look_v glass_n that_o he_o aim_v at_o in_o these_o correction_n which_o he_o have_v seal_v not_o only_o his_o own_o glory_n but_o our_o good_a both_o temporal_a and_o eternal_a in_o this_o work_n of_o fatherly_a chastisement_n and_o affliction_n and_o this_o sure_a can_v choose_v but_o be_v good_a also_o howsoever_o sometime_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o thick_a cloud_n of_o our_o own_o corruption_n interpose_v between_o god_n work_n and_o our_o reform_a judgement_n we_o can_v so_o sensible_o see_v or_o so_o plain_o perceive_v the_o same_o as_o we_o will_v or_o shall_v neither_o be_v this_o all_o the_o better_n of_o we_o in_o this_o life_n but_o for_o as_o much_o as_o our_o good_a estate_n here_o be_v in_o the_o purpose_n and_o council_n of_o god_n yet_o through_o his_o own_o mercy_n and_o grace_n only_o infinite_o as_o i_o may_v say_v to_o be_v better_v in_o the_o life_n that_o be_v to_o come_v and_o affliction_n do_v not_o only_o frame_v we_o to_o obedience_n in_o this_o world_n but_o in_o some_o sort_n pledge_v up_o unto_o we_o the_o salvation_n of_o our_o soul_n in_o eternal_a blessedness_n according_a to_o which_o the_o apostle_n affirm_v we_o be_v chastened_a of_o the_o lord_n in_o this_o world_n that_o we_o shall_v not_o perish_v with_o the_o wicked_a in_o that_o which_o be_v to_o come_v and_o again_o the_o spirit_n in_o another_o place_n say_v by_o many_o tribulation_n we_o must_v enter_v world_n and_o all_o the_o vanity_n and_o delight_n of_o the_o same_o use_v it_o and_o they_o no_o further_o than_o as_o by_o it_o and_o they_o we_o may_v be_v further_v in_o more_o excellent_a grace_n and_o to_o hunger_n and_o thirst_n after_o that_o eternal_a felicity_n that_o be_v lay_v up_o in_o the_o heaven_n for_o all_o those_o that_o in_o faith_n patience_n prayer_n and_o other_o good_a only_o and_o therefore_o give_v themselves_o and_o they_o over_o to_o sleep_v more_o and_o long_a then_o than_o on_o other_o day_n beside_o other_o some_o make_v no_o more_o account_n of_o the_o holy_a assembly_n of_o the_o church_n and_o religious_a exercise_n therein_o than_o of_o profane_a and_o common_a meeting_n nor_o so_o much_o many_o time_n and_o receive_v the_o word_n with_o no_o
