of_o they_o and_o do_v you_o think_v that_o this_o value_n be_v sufficient_a to_o maintain_v a_o able_a ministry_n to_o supply_v all_o these_o church_n and_o parish_n as_o they_o ought_v to_o be_v or_o that_o popery_n shall_v be_v suppress_v and_o the_o true_a protestant_a religion_n plant_v among_o the_o people_n by_o the_o unition_n of_o parish_n and_o the_o diminution_n of_o church_n without_o any_o augmentation_n of_o their_o mean_n credat_fw-la judaeus_n apella_n non_fw-la ego_fw-la object_n but_o you_o will_v say_v his_o majesty_n have_v most_o gracious_o provide_v and_o it_o be_v confirm_v by_o the_o act_n of_o settlement_n that_o a_o very_a ample_a augmentation_n be_v add_v to_o all_o the_o mean_a bishopric_n of_o ireland_n and_o he_o have_v most_o royal_o and_o religious_o bestow_v all_o the_o impropriation_n forfeit_v to_o his_o crown_n upon_o the_o several_a incumbent_n unto_o who_o church_n they_o do_v belong_v answ_n i_o answer_v that_o when_o god_n place_v man_n in_o paradise_n the_o devil_n be_v ready_a to_o cast_v he_o out_o and_o when_o god_n make_v our_o path_n straight_o and_o easy_a satan_n will_v straight_o put_v rub_v and_o block_n in_o our_o way_n to_o stumble_v we_o so_o though_o i_o give_v above_o fifty_o pound_n for_o agent_n money_n to_o follow_v the_o church_n cause_n and_o spend_v above_o thirty_o pound_n to_o procure_v a_o commission_n to_o gain_v that_o augmentation_n which_o his_o majesty_n be_v so_o gracious_o please_v to_o add_v unto_o the_o bishop_n of_o ossory_n yet_o present_o there_o come_v a_o supersedeas_fw-la to_o stop_v the_o proceed_n of_o my_o commission_n good_a how_o the_o devil_n hinder_v all_o intend_a good_a and_o i_o be_o not_o the_o better_a either_o by_o augmentation_n or_o agent_n so_o much_o as_o one_o penny_n to_o this_o very_a day_n and_o some_o devil_n have_v put_v some_o great_a rub_n for_o a_o stumble_a block_n in_o my_o way_n until_o god_n remove_v the_o same_o and_o throw_v it_o where_o block_n deserve_v to_o be_v and_o though_o his_o majesty_n have_v be_v please_v to_o bestow_v his_o impropriation_n upon_o the_o incumbent_n yet_o my_o lord_n lieutenant_n and_o the_o council_n think_v it_o fit_a to_o take_v forty_o pound_n per_fw-la annum_fw-la out_o of_o those_o impropriation_n for_o the_o better_a provision_n of_o the_o choir_n in_o dublin_n and_o so_o by_o that_o mean_n the_o clergy_n of_o ossory_n be_v not_o the_o better_a by_o one_o penny_n that_o the_o clergy_n may_v be_v like_a unto_o their_o bishop_n for_o i_o find_v but_o four_o impropriation_n forfeit_v to_o his_o majesty_n and_o bestow_v upon_o the_o church_n in_o all_o the_o diocese_n and_o these_o be_v set_v by_o mr._n archdeacon_n teate_n to_o the_o uttermost_a pitch_n that_o he_o can_v they_o do_v not_o reach_v to_o forty_o pound_n the_o last_o year_n and_o to_o say_v the_o truth_n without_o fear_n of_o any_o man_n we_o be_v not_o only_o deprive_v of_o the_o vicarial_a tithe_n and_o offering_n by_o the_o farmer_n of_o the_o great_a lord_n impropriate_a rectory_n but_o our_o land_n and_o glebe_n be_v clip_v and_o pare_v to_o become_v as_o thin_a as_o banbury_n cheese_n by_o the_o commissioner_n and_o counsel_n of_o those_o illustrious_a lord_n for_o though_o his_o grace_n our_o most_o excellent_a lieutenant_n the_o duke_n of_o ormond_n be_v i_o say_v it_o without_o flattery_n a_o man_n of_o such_o worth_n so_o noble_a so_o honourable_a and_o so_o religious_a as_o be_v beyond_o compare_n and_o for_o his_o fidelity_n and_o piety_n and_o other_o incomparable_a part_n scarce_o to_o be_v equalise_v by_o any_o subject_n of_o any_o king_n and_o so_o many_o other_o great_a lord_n be_v in_o themselves_o very_o noble_a and_o religious_a yet_o as_o rehoboam_n in_o himself_o consider_v be_v not_o so_o very_a a_o bad_a king_n but_o have_v very_o bad_a counselor_n that_o do_v he_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o dishonour_n and_o damage_n so_o this_o most_o honourable_a duke_n heaven_n and_o thus_o as_o christ_n be_v crucify_v betwixt_o the_o good_a thief_n and_o the_o bad_a so_o be_v we_o betwixt_o the_o good_a lord_n and_o their_o bad_a agent_n but_o let_v they_o fear_v least_o by_o make_v their_o lord_n great_a here_o on_o earth_n they_o do_v make_v themselves_o little_a in_o heaven_n and_o other_o great_a lord_n may_v have_v as_o i_o fear_v some_o of_o they_o have_v such_o commissioner_n and_o counsel_n that_o as_o well_o to_o make_v themselves_o a_o fortune_n as_o to_o enlarge_v their_o lord_n revenue_n will_v pinch_v the_o parson_n side_n and_o part_v the_o garment_n of_o christ_n betwixt_o themselves_o and_o their_o lord_n as_o my_o lord_n duke_n agent_n have_v distrain_v and_o drive_v away_o my_o tenant_n cattle_n for_o divers_a great_a sum_n of_o chiefery_n and_o challenge_v some_o land_n that_o as_o i_o be_o inform_v be_v never_o pay_v nor_o challenge_v within_o the_o memory_n of_o man_n and_o who_o dare_v oppose_v these_o man_n or_o say_v unto_o they_o why_o do_v you_o so_o not_o i_o though_o they_o shall_v take_v away_o my_o whole_a estate_n for_o as_o naboth_n have_v better_o have_v yield_v up_o his_o vineyard_n than_o to_o have_v lose_v his_o life_n so_o i_o conceive_v it_o better_a to_o yield_v to_o their_o desire_n quiet_o than_o to_o lose_v both_o my_o land_n and_o my_o labour_n by_o such_o a_o jury_n as_o will_v give_v it_o away_o though_o never_o so_o unjust_o whereof_o i_o have_v have_v experience_n and_o a_o sad_a proof_n non_fw-la sine_fw-la meo_fw-la magno_fw-la malo_fw-la yet_o man_n the_o civility_n and_o piety_n of_o the_o 49_o man_n i_o confess_v the_o 49._o man_n have_v be_v very_o civil_a and_o show_v themselves_o very_o fair_o condition_v and_o religious_a both_o to_o myself_o and_o as_o i_o understand_v to_o all_o other_o clergyman_n and_o i_o wish_v that_o all_o nobleman_n commissioner_n and_o agent_n will_v be_v so_o likewise_o that_o their_o do_n may_v bring_v a_o blessing_n and_o not_o a_o curse_n upon_o they_o and_o perhaps_o upon_o their_o lord_n and_o master_n power_n lord_n and_o master_n shall_v answer_v to_o god_n for_o the_o oppression_n that_o their_o servant_n do_v under_o their_o power_n that_o must_v give_v a_o account_n to_o god_n for_o the_o ill_a carriage_n and_o the_o oppression_n of_o the_o poor_a by_o their_o servant_n who_o dishonour_n their_o lord_n and_o make_v they_o liable_a to_o god_n wrath_n for_o the_o wrong_n that_o they_o do_v to_o make_v they_o the_o great_a and_o so_o receive_v the_o great_a condemnation_n for_o great_a man_n must_v not_o only_o do_v no_o wrong_v themselves_o but_o they_o ought_v also_o to_o see_v that_o none_o under_o their_o wing_n and_o through_o the_o colour_n of_o their_o power_n and_o authority_n do_v any_o wrong_n unto_o the_o poor_a but_o to_o deal_v plain_o and_o to_o show_v what_o respect_n favour_n and_o justice_n we_o the_o poor_a bishop_n and_o clergyman_n have_v from_o the_o great_a lord_n and_o court_n of_o justice_n in_o this_o kingdom_n i_o will_v instance_n but_o in_o the_o example_n of_o myself_o who_o after_o i_o have_v expose_v myself_o to_o the_o daily_a and_o continual_a hazard_n of_o my_o life_n by_o my_o preach_n and_o publish_v so_o many_o book_n against_o the_o rebel_n and_o long_a parliament_n which_o i_o have_v unanswerable_o prove_v to_o be_v the_o great_a antichrist_n and_o have_v for_o all_o their_o reign_n serve_v duram_fw-la servitutem_fw-la and_o suffer_v more_o hardship_n than_o any_o bishop_n and_o upon_o my_o restitution_n to_o my_o bishopric_n by_o the_o happy_a restauration_n of_o our_o most_o gracious_a king_n have_v spend_v above_o four_o hundred_o pound_n to_o gain_v the_o bishop_n mansion_n house_n where_o bishop_n bale_n see_v five_o of_o his_o servant_n kill_v before_o his_o face_n and_o himself_o drive_v to_o flee_v to_o save_v his_o life_n and_o which_o be_v give_v to_o sir_n george_n askue_n by_o cromwell_n for_o his_o service_n to_o the_o long_a parliament_n i_o have_v full_o show_v the_o favour_n and_o the_o justice_n that_o i_o have_v at_o the_o king_n bench_n though_o i_o must_v ingenious_o confess_v my_o lord_n chief_a justice_n deal_v as_o fair_o and_o as_o just_o as_o any_o judge_n in_o the_o world_n can_v do_v and_o i_o do_v pray_v to_o god_n that_o both_o judge_n and_o jury_n and_o all_o the_o pleader_n may_v have_v better_o at_o the_o bar_n of_o the_o king_n of_o king_n then_o let_v pass_v the_o proceed_n of_o the_o court_n of_o claim_n that_o give_v away_o the_o land_n and_o house_n that_o be_v in_o my_o possession_n while_o i_o be_v in_o london_n though_o a_o chief_a member_n of_o that_o court_n promise_v that_o nothing_o shall_v be_v do_v against_o the_o church_n until_o i_o return_v home_o and_o be_v a_o poor_a man_n when_o thou_o swim_a against_o the_o stream_n and_o kick_v against_o the_o prick_n therefore_o i_o advise_v thou_o rather_o in_o such_o a_o case_n to_o cry_v to_o god_n than_o parliament_n shall_v to_o prevent_v the_o like_a oppression_n and_o wrong_n to_o poor_a man_n provide_v a_o easy_a and_o plain_a way_n to_o relieve_v the_o oppress_a and_o to_o set_v down_o a_o usual_a form_n of_o indictment_n or_o to_o cause_n that_o the_o indictment_n shall_v not_o be_v so_o easy_o and_o so_o frequent_o upon_o every_o lawyer_n motion_n quash_v as_o they_o be_v report_v to_o be_v especial_o when_o the_o matter_n of_o force_n be_v plain_a and_o evident_o prove_v and_o this_o redress_n of_o injury_n i_o petition_v and_o move_v for_o for_o these_o four_o special_a reason_n 1._o because_o the_o difficulty_n of_o frame_v the_o indictment_n so_o that_o a_o cunning_a lawyer_n can_v easy_o find_v a_o fault_n and_o a_o flaw_n in_o it_o and_o then_o the_o frequent_a quash_a of_o such_o indictment_n as_o be_v find_v faulty_a be_v a_o great_a wrong_n to_o his_o majesty_n in_o deprive_v he_o of_o those_o fine_n that_o otherwise_o be_v due_a and_o shall_v be_v render_v unto_o he_o 2._o it_o be_v a_o great_a abuse_n and_o injury_n unto_o the_o poor_a subject_n that_o shall_v be_v drive_v out_o of_o his_o possession_n and_o for_o want_v of_o a_o sufficient_a clerk_n or_o counsellor_n to_o draw_v the_o right_a form_n of_o his_o indictment_n which_o as_o i_o see_v few_o can_v do_v he_o shall_v both_o spend_v his_o money_n and_o lose_v his_o labour_n and_o perhaps_o he_o be_v not_o able_a to_o do_v as_o i_o do_v three_o or_o four_o time_n to_o draw_v indictment_n till_o he_o find_v one_o that_o may_v stand_v good_a 3._o this_o frequent_a quash_a of_o indictment_n be_v a_o great_a encouragement_n for_o oppressor_n and_o wicked_a man_n to_o wrong_v their_o neighbour_n more_o and_o more_o for_o say_v they_o i_o will_v enter_v upon_o he_o and_o thrust_v he_o out_o and_o if_o he_o do_v indite_v i_o i_o will_v remove_v it_o to_o the_o king_n bench_n and_o i_o shall_v find_v a_o lawyer_n that_o will_v quash_n his_o indictment_n by_o and_o by_o 4._o this_o very_a practice_n and_o proceed_n may_v be_v fear_v to_o prove_v the_o very_a bane_n and_o destruction_n of_o whole_a nation_n and_o kingdom_n for_o if_o righteousness_n exalt_v a_o nation_n and_o a_o kingdom_n be_v translate_v from_o one_o nation_n to_o another_o people_n because_o of_o unrighteousness_n as_o solomon_n say_v and_o as_o we_o may_v read_v it_o in_o all_o history_n then_o you_o may_v see_v how_o requisite_a it_o be_v for_o king_n and_o prince_n to_o look_v to_o those_o thing_n and_o not_o to_o suffer_v unrighteous_a judge_n either_o for_o favour_n to_o one_o or_o hatred_n to_o another_o to_o do_v what_o they_o listen_v and_o to_o make_v their_o law_n like_o a_o nose_n of_o wax_n to_o bend_v which_o way_n they_o please_v or_o like_o a_o spider_n web_n that_o catch_v the_o small_a fly_n but_o be_v break_v by_o the_o great_a humble_a bee_n all_o to_o piece_n but_o to_o be_v like_o the_o chancellor_n steel_n that_o although_o he_o hate_v my_o person_n yet_o he_o say_v though_o i_o deserve_v it_o not_o i_o shall_v have_v justice_n and_o so_o he_o do_v i_o justice_n present_o and_o i_o love_v to_o do_v right_a to_o my_o adversary_n and_o to_o say_v the_o truth_n of_o my_o enemy_n but_o for_o myself_o i_o thank_v god_n for_o it_o as_o i_o live_v many_o year_n very_o quiet_o and_o content_o with_o far_o less_o mean_n than_o 20_o li._n a_o year_n and_o with_o far_o less_o pain_n and_o trouble_n than_o i_o have_v now_o so_o i_o doubt_v not_o but_o i_o can_v live_v so_o still_o and_o i_o resolve_v and_o vow_v as_o i_o have_v attest_v in_o my_o
