by_o jesus_n christ._n one_o main_a and_o principal_a which_o be_v the_o great_a of_o all_o the_o rest_n be_v that_o through_o he_o we_o have_v eternal_a life_n and_o therefore_o say_v he_o know_v christ_n this_o and_o all_o other_o be_v we_o if_o you_o be_v in_o christ_n say_v he_o than_o you_o have_v this_o assurance_n for_o we_o have_v that_o assurance_n in_o he_o the_o second_o point_n that_o the_o verse_n afford_v we_o be_v 2_o that_o whosoever_o be_v in_o christ_n 2._o whatsoever_o he_o ask_v he_o shall_v have_v it_o now_o my_o full_a intention_n be_v only_o to_o have_v handle_v other_o point_n which_o i_o name_v to_o you_o that_o except_o a_o man_n be_v in_o christ_n be_v ought_v not_o to_o apply_v any_o privilege_n to_o himself_o if_o he_o be_v i_o say_v all_o belong_v to_o he_o when_o you_o come_v to_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n it_o be_v a_o very_a great_a privilege_n to_o meddle_v with_o those_o holy_a mystery_n to_o have_v those_o simbole_n give_v to_o you_o of_o concern_v these_o two_o thing_n 1_o whether_o he_o be_v in_o christ_n and_o so_o whether_o he_o have_v any_o right_n at_o all_o to_o come_v near_o to_o he_o in_o that_o holy_a ordinance_n 2_o though_o he_o be_v in_o christ_n yet_o he_o must_v examine_v himself_o whether_o he_o be_v particular_o prepare_v quicken_v and_o fit_v whether_o his_o heart_n be_v put_v into_o such_o a_o trance_n of_o take_v any_o privilege_n to_o himself_o we_o will_v first_o exhort_v every_o man_n to_o consider_v whether_o he_o be_v in_o christ_n for_o this_o be_v the_o present_a question_n which_o any_o man_n heart_n will_v ask_v when_o he_o hear_v this_o propound_v why_o if_o all_o the_o privilege_n be_v suspend_v upon_o my_o be_v in_o christ_n my_o main_a business_n be_v to_o examine_v whether_o i_o be_v in_o christ_n or_o no._n now_o because_o a_o man_n may_v be_v in_o christ_n and_o yet_o be_v suspend_v by_o some_o interveniall_a sin_n by_o some_o indisposition_n of_o mind_n and_o heart_n that_o my_o belove_a be_v i_o and_o i_o be_o he_o we_o take_v christ_n and_o christ_n take_v we_o wheresoever_o you_o find_v these_o two_o act_n such_o a_o man_n be_v in_o christ_n there_o must_v be_v a_o certain_o thou_o be_v in_o christ_n and_o if_o it_o be_v so_o all_o the_o privilege_n belong_v to_o thou_o if_o not_o thou_o have_v nothing_o to_o do_v with_o this_o holy_a sacrament_n now_o for_o the_o clear_a discern_v of_o that_o act_n which_o be_v on_o our_o part_n you_o must_v consider_v these_o thing_n
receive_v the_o sacrament_n the_o very_a intention_n be_v increase_v but_o this_o be_v not_o all_o there_o be_v another_o thing_n in_o the_o sacrament_n that_o much_o increase_v it_o and_o that_o be_v a_o thing_n i_o will_v have_v you_o chief_o to_o take_v notice_n of_o that_o be_v the_o very_a sacrament_n itself_o the_o element_n of_o bread_n and_o wine_n deliver_v to_o thou_o with_o the_o very_a word_n of_o the_o minister_n 25._o take_v and_o eat_v this_o be_v my_o body_n that_o be_v break_v for_o thou_o take_v and_o drink_v this_o be_v my_o blood_n that_o be_v shed_v etc._n etc._n for_o when_o these_o word_n be_v speak_v to_o we_o if_o we_o do_v consider_v well_o of_o they_o and_o think_v thus_o with_o ourselves_o these_o word_n that_o the_o lord_n he_o himself_o have_v appoint_v the_o minister_n to_o speak_v for_o therein_o be_v the_o force_n of_o they_o that_o they_o be_v of_o the_o lord_n own_o institution_n therefore_o the_o strength_n of_o every_o sacrament_n lie_v in_o the_o institution_n that_o be_v a_o rule_n in_o dininity_n the_o papist_n themselves_o who_o have_v add_v five_o other_o sacrament_n can_v deny_v but_o that_o every_o sacrament_n must_v have_v a_o immediate_a institution_n from_o christ_n himself_o even_o from_o his_o own_o mouth_n or_o else_o there_o be_v no_o strength_n in_o it_o so_o that_o even_o as_o it_o be_v with_o all_o thing_n that_o be_v symboll_n of_o other_o thing_n as_o take_v mark_n in_o field_n that_o stand_v for_o the_o division_n of_o several_a man_n right_n take_v counter_n that_o stand_v for_o thousand_o and_o hundred_o the_o very_a essence_n of_o these_o thing_n stand_v in_o the_o very_a institution_n of_o they_o so_o in_o the_o sacrament_n except_o these_o word_n be_v from_o the_o lord_n own_o mouth_n that_o deliver_v it_o this_o very_a deliver_v of_o the_o bread_n and_o wine_n be_v a_o sign_n to_o you_o of_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o your_o sin_n except_o the_o lord_n have_v thus_o institute_v it_o there_o have_v be_v no_o force_n in_o it_o i_o say_v consider_v they_o be_v word_n that_o the_o minister_n speak_v not_o in_o a_o ordinary_a course_n but_o he_o be_v appoint_v by_o the_o lord_n great_a help_n if_o it_o be_v right_o understand_v to_o strengthen_v our_o faith_n do_v it_o not_o help_v we_o when_o we_o see_v the_o rainbow_n which_o the_o lord_n have_v appoint_v to_o put_v he_o in_o mind_n of_o his_o covenant_n 15._o i_o will_v remember_v my_o covenant_n when_o i_o look_v on_o the_o bow_n in_o the_o cloud_n it_o shall_v confirm_v i_o and_o i_o will_v not_o break_v my_o of_o the_o saint_n make_v upon_o earth_n be_v assure_o hear_v in_o heaven_n whatsoever_o we_o ask_v say_v he_o according_a to_o his_o will_n he_o hear_v we_o only_o the_o condition_n must_v be_v observe_v when_o you_o hear_v such_o a_o general_a as_o this_o it_o must_v be_v limit_v there_o be_v certain_a bound_n set_v to_o it_o con_v which_o we_o will_v name_v unto_o you_o which_o be_v these_o four_o condition_n first_o all_o the_o prayer_n that_o be_v make_v upon_o earth_n shall_v be_v hear_v in_o heaven_n if_o they_o be_v the_o prayer_n of_o a_o righteous_a man_n and_o be_v faithful_a and_o fervent_a the_o person_n must_v be_v righteous_a that_o must_v first_o be_v remember_v because_o although_o the_o prayer_n be_v never_o so_o good_a yet_o except_o the_o person_n be_v accept_v from_o who_o it_o come_v the_o lord_n regard_v it_o not_o you_o know_v in_o the_o old_a law_n 3._o the_o blood_n of_o swine_n be_v reckon_v a_o abominable_a sacrifice_n yet_o if_o you_o take_v the_o blood_n of_o sheep_n and_o compare_v they_o together_o you_o shall_v find_v no_o difference_n it_o may_v be_v the_o swine_n blood_n be_v the_o better_a then_o what_o be_v the_o reason_n the_o swine_n blood_n be_v not_o accept_v even_o because_o of_o the_o subject_n of_o it_o it_o be_v the_o blood_n of_o swine_n and_o therefore_o you_o see_v it_o be_v put_v down_o that_o it_o be_v a_o abominable_a sacrifice_n so_o it_o be_v with_o prayer_n take_v
the_o prayer_n of_o a_o saint_n and_o the_o prayer_n of_o a_o wicked_a man_n it_o may_v be_v if_o you_o look_v upon_o the_o petition_n or_o whatsoever_o be_v in_o the_o prayer_n itself_o you_o shall_v find_v some_o time_n the_o prayer_n of_o a_o godly_a man_n more_o cold_a and_o less_o fervent_a the_o petition_n be_v not_o so_o well_o frame_v as_o the_o wicked_a man_n yet_o because_o this_o come_v from_o such_o a_o person_n the_o lord_n regard_v it_o not_o you_o know_v the_o condition_n be_v mention_v james_n five_o the_o prayer_n of_o the_o righteous_a man_n avail_v much_o if_o it_o be_v fervent_a now_o as_o this_o be_v require_v in_o the_o person_n so_o there_o be_v somewhat_o require_v in_o the_o prayer_n also_o that_o be_v that_o it_o be_v fervent_a and_o faithful_a that_o it_o be_v fervent_a you_o have_v it_o in_o the_o same_o place_n the_o prayer_n of_o a_o righteous_a man_n avail_v much_o if_o it_o be_v fervent_a that_o be_v it_o must_v be_v a_o prayer_n make_v from_o the_o sense_n of_o the_o misery_n that_o be_v in_o we_o and_o from_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n when_o a_o man_n take_v a_o thing_n to_o heart_n that_o he_o pray_v for_o and_o come_v with_o confidence_n to_o be_v hear_v for_o that_o make_v he_o fervent_a this_o the_o lord_n will_v have_v and_o also_o he_o will_v have_v it_o faithful_a james_n the_o first_o when_o the_o apostle_n exhort_v they_o to_o prayer_n 6_o if_o any_o man_n want_v wisdom_n say_v he_o let_v he_o ask_v it_o of_o god_n but_o then_o mark_v he_o careful_o put_v in_o this_o condition_n see_v that_o he_o pray_v in_o faith_n that_o be_v believe_v that_o it_o shall_v be_v do_v unto_o he_o now_o this_o faith_n include_v repentance_n for_o no_o man_n can_v believe_v that_o he_o shall_v be_v hear_v except_o he_o make_v his_o heart_n perfect_a with_o god_n if_o he_o allow_v any_o sin_n in_o himself_o he_o can_v believe_v upon_o any_o good_a ground_n therefore_o when_o i_o say_v it_o must_v be_v faithful_a that_o also_o be_v say_v unto_o they_o this_o day_n if_o you_o will_v hear_v this_o day_n if_o you_o will_v come_v and_o seek_v unto_o i_o if_o you_o will_v pray_v unto_o i_o i_o will_v hear_v you_o when_o it_o be_v past_a the_o lord_n suffer_v not_o the_o door_n to_o stand_v open_a always_o his_o ear_n be_v not_o always_o open_a therefore_o that_o condition_n must_v be_v careful_o remember_v you_o must_v ask_v in_o time_n it_o be_v a_o condition_n that_o shall_v be_v careful_o think_v on_o by_o we_o for_o for_o the_o most_o part_n we_o fly_v to_o prayer_n as_o joab_n do_v to_o the_o altar_n he_o go_v not_o our_o youth_n in_o our_o strength_n in_o the_o flower_n of_o our_o grace_n our_o time_n be_v to_o go_v to_o he_o when_o we_o need_v he_o will_v not_o a_o friend_n say_v when_o we_o never_o come_v to_o he_o but_o when_o we_o have_v extreme_a need_n of_o he_o why_o do_v you_o come_v now_o you_o be_v not_o wont_a to_o visit_v i_o before_o this_o be_v not_o out_o of_o love_n to_o i_o even_o the_o very_a same_o answer_n the_o lord_n give_v 14._o go_v to_o your_o idol_n say_v he_o those_o that_o you_o serve_v in_o the_o time_n of_o peace_n and_o see_v if_o they_o can_v help_v you_o the_o four_o our_o own_o carver_n to_o think_v if_o it_o be_v not_o grant_v in_o such_o a_o manner_n such_o a_o measure_n or_o such_o a_o time_n present_o the_o lord_n have_v reject_v our_o petition_n no_o 16._o he_o that_o believe_v make_v no_o haste_n that_o be_v he_o wait_v upon_o god_n he_o stay_v himself_o upon_o god_n he_o be_v content_a to_o have_v it_o in_o that_o time_n in_o that_o manner_n and_o measure_n as_o best_o please_v the_o lord_n for_o the_o truth_n be_v we_o know_v not_o ourselves_o what_o be_v meet_v for_o we_o we_o be_v unto_o the_o lord_n just_a as_o the_o patient_n be_v to_o the_o physician_n the_o patient_a be_v importunate_a with_o he_o for_o such_o thing_n to_o refresh_v and_o ease_v he_o but_o the_o physician_n know_v what_o best_o belong_v to_o he_o and_o when_o to_o give_v he_o such_o thing_n in_o what_o manner_n and_o in_o what_o measure_n so_o the_o lord_n know_v best_a what_o to_o do_v many_o time_n he_o do_v the_o same_o thing_n that_o we_o desire_v though_o he_o do_v it_o not_o in_o the_o same_o manner_n even_o as_o the_o physician_n he_o quench_v often_o the_o thirst_n with_o barberries_n or_o with_o such_o kind_n of_o conserves_n what_o though_o it_o be_v not_o with_o drink_n be_v it_o not_o all_o one_o so_o the_o thirst_n be_v quench_v be_v it_o not_o all_o one_o whether_o a_o man_n be_v hinder_v from_o strike_v i_o or_o if_o i_o have_v a_o helmet_n to_o defend_v the_o blow_n sometime_o the_o lord_n keep_v not_o off_o the_o enemy_n but_o then_o he_o give_v we_o a_o helmet_n to_o keep_v off_o those_o blow_n to_o bear_v those_o injury_n and_o evil_n that_o be_v do_v to_o we_o he_o be_v a_o wise_a physician_n he_o know_v what_o manner_n what_o measure_n and_o what_o time_n be_v best_a therefore_o that_o must_v be_v refer_v to_o he_o now_o these_o condition_n be_v observe_v you_o must_v know_v that_o this_o great_a privilege_n belong_v to_o every_o christian_a that_o whatsoever_o prayer_n he_o make_v on_o earth_n he_o be_v sure_a to_o be_v hear_v in_o heaven_n it_o be_v a_o wondrous_a privilege_n that_o which_o we_o have_v all_o cause_n to_o stand_v amaze_v at_o that_o the_o lord_n shall_v so_o far_o regard_v the_o son_n of_o be_v grant_v and_o that_o they_o be_v not_o only_o grant_v for_o my_o sake_n for_o say_v he_o the_o father_n himself_o love_v you_o and_o have_v a_o great_a affection_n to_o you_o that_o be_v in_o natural_a parent_n there_o be_v a_o natural_a affection_n to_o their_o child_n so_o if_o i_o be_v not_o immediate_o to_o present_v your_o petition_n though_o that_o be_v not_o exclude_v yet_o say_v he_o the_o father_n have_v such_o a_o affection_n to_o you_o that_o he_o can_v choose_v but_o hear_v you_o i_o say_v not_o say_v he_o that_o i_o will_v ask_v the_o father_n for_o the_o father_n and_o it_o be_v tell_v we_o that_o if_o we_o make_v use_v of_o it_o it_o will_v heal_v any_o wound_n it_o will_v heal_v any_o sickness_n and_o this_o and_o this_o virtue_n it_o have_v will_v a_o
