that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o warrant_n as_o be_v set_v forth_o in_o the_o petition_n direct_v to_o sir_n adam_n loftus_n knight_n then_o and_o now_o treasurer_n at_o war_n for_o ireland_n for_o the_o payment_n of_o 603_o l._n 13_o s._n 0_o d._n to_o part_n of_o the_o train_n of_o artillery_n belong_v to_o the_o army_n of_o 8000_o irish_a raise_v in_o the_o year_n 1640._o then_o intend_v against_o the_o scot_n of_o which_o sum_n there_o be_v no_o part_n thereof_o mention_v or_o intend_v to_o be_v due_a to_o the_o petitioner_n who_o be_v only_o then_o appoint_v a_o servant_n and_o agent_n to_o receive_v there_o money_n for_o they_o upon_o which_o warrant_v this_o respondent_fw-la be_v then_o deputy_n to_o sir_n adam_n loftus_n do_v at_o several_a time_n pay_v unto_o the_o petitioner_n and_o other_o for_o the_o say_a train_n of_o artillery_n and_o by_o direction_n of_o the_o lord_n justice_n and_o council_n of_o ireland_n the_o sum_n of_o 500_o l._n or_o thereabouts_o for_o which_o the_o say_a sir_n adam_n loftus_n have_v several_a acquittance_n to_o produce_v unto_o who_o this_o respondent_fw-la have_v late_o give_v up_o a_o full_a account_n of_o all_o matter_n then_o commit_v to_o his_o trust_n and_o charge_n and_o as_o for_o the_o remain_n of_o the_o say_a warrant_n neither_o can_v the_o say_a sir_n adam_n loftus_n nor_o the_o respondent_fw-la his_o deputy_n pay_v the_o same_o to_o the_o train_n of_o artillery_n as_o be_v intend_v as_o likewise_o divers_a other_o warrant_n for_o great_a sum_n for_o want_v then_o of_o money_n in_o the_o king_n exchequer_n the_o treasure_n be_v so_o exhaust_v by_o the_o foresay_a irish_a army_n and_o that_o army_n be_v then_o to_o be_v disband_v there_o want_v money_n for_o that_o purpose_n so_o that_o sir_n adam_n loftus_n to_o prevent_v the_o dangerous_a consequence_n that_o may_v arise_v by_o those_o rude_a and_o barbarous_a soldier_n in_o their_o disband_n do_v then_o engage_v himself_o his_o elder_a son_n sir_n arthur_n loftus_n and_o divers_a other_o of_o his_o friend_n with_o this_o respondent_fw-la and_o take_v up_o great_a sum_n of_o money_n upon_o their_o credit_n to_o help_v to_o disband_v they_o with_o quietness_n which_o great_a sum_n his_o majesty_n be_v to_o make_v satisfaction_n for_o hereafter_o and_o for_o which_o the_o say_a sir_n adam_n loftus_n his_o friend_n and_o this_o respondent_fw-la be_v still_o engage_v by_o reason_n the_o rebellion_n there_o break_v out_o so_o sudden_o there_o come_v in_o no_o part_n of_o the_o king_n revenue_n of_o ireland_n to_o discharge_v their_o foresay_a engagement_n nor_o many_o other_o great_a sum_n of_o money_n disburse_v then_o and_o before_o for_o the_o king_n this_o respondent_fw-la further_o say_v that_o upon_o payment_n of_o part_n of_o the_o foresay_a sum_n of_o 603_o l._n 13_o s._n 0_o d._n to_o the_o petitioner_n as_o be_v abovesaid_a he_o the_o say_a petitioner_n do_v at_o that_o time_n deliver_v up_o the_o foresay_a warrant_n to_o this_o respondent_fw-la be_v necessary_a so_o to_o do_v that_o it_o may_v be_v produce_v before_o the_o commissioner_n of_o account_n to_o pass_v so_o much_o as_o this_o respondent_fw-la have_v true_o pay_v thereof_o and_o no_o more_o which_o warrant_n do_v remain_v on_o record_n in_o the_o office_n of_o the_o auditor-generall_n of_o ireland_n by_o which_o the_o whole_a truth_n of_o this_o answer_n may_v full_o appear_v and_o this_o respondent_fw-la do_v believe_v that_o either_o himself_o or_o his_o servant_n do_v then_o give_v the_o petitioner_n a_o note_n in_o writing_n declare_v what_o sum_n be_v then_o pay_v to_o the_o petitioner_n on_o the_o foresay_a warrant_n and_o what_o do_v then_o rest_v unpaid_a thereof_o this_o respondent_fw-la also_o say_v and_o be_v able_a to_o make_v it_o evident_o for_o to_o appear_v by_o authentic_a record_n that_o he_o have_v not_o pass_v any_o more_o of_o the_o say_a warrant_n on_o his_o account_n than_o true_o and_o re-vera_a he_o have_v pay_v thereof_o and_o for_o which_o he_o have_v acquittance_n to_o produce_v nor_o have_v this_o respondent_fw-la take_v poundage_n for_o any_o more_o of_o the_o say_a warrant_n than_o he_o have_v true_o pay_v and_o pass_v in_o his_o account_n as_o of_o right_n he_o ought_v to_o do_v and_o which_o be_v just_a and_o lawful_a for_o he_o to_o take_v neither_o do_v this_o respondent_fw-la ever_o desire_n or_o intend_v or_o if_o he_o be_v willing_a so_o to_o do_v be_v it_o in_o his_o power_n to_o make_v use_n advantage_n or_o profit_n of_o the_o remain_n of_o the_o foresay_a warrant_n which_o rest_v yet_o unpaid_a as_o be_v suggest_v by_o the_o petitioner_n and_o further_o this_o respondent_fw-la say_v that_o if_o the_o petitioner_n have_v any_o such_o certificate_n from_o the_o clerk_n of_o the_o bell_n as_o he_o allege_v he_o have_v it_o be_v apparent_o false_a or_o the_o clerk_n be_v therein_o very_o much_o mistake_v for_o that_o the_o petitioner_n allege_v his_o certificate_n to_o be_v make_v about_o four_o or_o five_o year_n since_o in_o july_n 1641._o at_o which_o time_n the_o foresay_a warrant_n be_v not_o pass_v on_o any_o account_n until_o may_v last_v 1646._o since_o which_o time_n the_o petitioner_n can_v say_v that_o he_o have_v any_o certificate_n thereof_o from_o the_o clerk_n of_o the_o bell_n and_o therefore_o this_o respondent_fw-la humble_o pray_v that_o he_o may_v be_v dismiss_v with_o such_o reparation_n as_o this_o honourable_a house_n shall_v think_v fit_a nicholas_n loftus_fw-la print_a at_o london_n by_o john_n deâ—â—_n &_o robert_n ibbitson_n 1646._o
