or_o declaration_n of_o the_o same_o the_o next_o matter_n to_o be_v set_v forth_o and_o declare_v be_v the_o treatyse_n of_o the._n seven_o sacrament_n with_o their_o exposition_n and_o forasmuch_o as_o it_o be_v expediente_a before_o the_o special_a intreatye_n thereof_o to_o speak_v somewhat_o aswell_o of_o the_o signification_n of_o this_o word_n sacrament_n be_v take_v in_o his_o generaltie_n as_o also_o to_o define_v in_o speciality_n how_o this_o word_n sacrament_n shall_v be_v take_v and_o understand_v here_o in_o this_o treatyse_n therefore_o here_o in_o the_o beginning_n amongst_o they_o that_o have_v a_o respect_n to_o the_o propriety_n of_o the_o latin_a tongue_n &_o do_v seek_v the_o signification_n thereof_o in_o profane_a writer_n a_o sacrament_n among_o other_o 〈◊〉_d be_v pryncipal_o call_v a_o obligation_n or_o promise_n make_v and_o confirm_v by_o a_o oath_n of_o which_o thing_n s._n augustine_n in_o his_o clxxxi_o sermon_n make_v mention_v and_o among_o they_o that_o have_v a_o respect_n un_fw-fr to_o scrypture_n and_o the_o writer_n thereof_o a_o sacrament_n do_v signify_v a_o mystery_n that_o be_v to_o say_v a_o secret_a or_o hide_a thing_n large_a signification_n it_o do_v signify_v everye_o secret_a mysterye_n appertain_v to_o religion_n and_o everye_o holy_a thing_n hide_v though_o it_o be_v not_o a_o sign_n or_o token_n of_o another_o thing_n as_o when_o we_o use_v to_o name_n and_o say_v the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o godheade_n mean_v thereby_o the_o very_a godhead_n itself_o whythe_n be_v a_o hide_v and_o secret_a thing_n and_o yet_o not_o a_o sign_n or_o token_n of_o any_o other_o thing_n and_o in_o this_o signification_n also_o s._n paul_n do_v use_v it_o in_o the_o first_o chapter_n of_o his_o epystle_n to_o the_o ephesian_n where_o he_o say_v that_o god_n have_v reveyl_v or_o open_v unto_o we_o the_o sacrament_n of_o his_o will_n mean_v there_o by_o the_o sacrament_n of_o his_o will_n the_o secret_a eternal_a will_n of_o god_n whereby_o he_o appoint_v from_o the_o beginning_n that_o the_o gentyle_n shall_v be_v incorporate_v and_o make_v partaker_n of_o his_o promise_n in_o jesu_n chryste_n in_o acception_n in_o which_o moost_n common_o it_o be_v it_o signify_v the_o sign_n of_o a_o holy_a thing_n which_o bear_v the_o similitude_n or_o likeness_n of_o the_o thing_n who_o sign_n it_o be_v after_o which_o sort_n the_o sign_n and_o figure_n of_o the_o old_a testament_fw-mi be_v call_v sacrament_n &_o so_o the_o ancient_a father_n speak_v of_o the_o sign_n of_o the_o old_a testament_n do_v use_v common_o and_o frequent_o to_o name_v they_o according_a whereunto_o s._n augustine_n in_o the._n xiii_o chapter_n of_o he_o nineteeen_o book_n against_o faustus_n do_v say_v prima_fw-la sidered_a and_o use_v in_o this_o treatyse_n which_o be_v the_o moo_v strayt_a signification_n of_o all_o other_o you_o shall_v note_v that_o it_o be_v so_o take_v be_v define_v after_o
