so_o expose_v they_o to_o destruction_n till_o it_o be_v discover_v and_o remove_v 3._o i_o have_v say_v enough_o of_o the_o proposition_n which_o be_v employ_v in_o the_o word_n before_o we_o namely_o 1._o that_o man_n may_v presume_v of_o god_n favour_n while_o they_o continue_v in_o their_o sin_n 2_o that_o this_o presumption_n of_o they_o be_v a_o very_a great_a and_o dangerous_a error_n and_o shall_v now_o conclude_v with_o what_o be_v express_v he_o that_o do_v righteousness_n be_v righteous_a that_o be_v to_o say_v he_o that_o be_v hearty_a and_o sincere_a in_o the_o practice_n of_o all_o the_o several_a duty_n prescribe_v unto_o we_o in_o the_o gospel_n he_o be_v acceptable_a unto_o god_n he_o be_v in_o grace_n and_o favour_n with_o he_o nor_o will_v god_n charge_v he_o with_o the_o guilt_n of_o such_o lapse_n and_o inadvertency_n as_o flow_v from_o the_o frailty_n of_o humane_a nature_n and_o what_o be_v the_o use_n we_o shall_v make_v of_o this_o it_o be_v to_o awake_v and_o excite_v ourselves_o to_o all_o diligence_n to_o all_o sincerity_n in_o our_o duty_n and_o
man_n mind_n whether_o these_o thing_n be_v his_o will_n or_o not_o and_o though_o the_o gospel_n in_o some_o case_n that_o be_v when_o truth_n be_v contradict_v require_v we_o rather_o to_o suffer_v for_o it_o than_o to_o forsake_v or_o to_o deny_v it_o yet_o see_v suffering_n in_o this_o case_n evident_o tend_v to_o confirm_v the_o truth_n to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n to_o the_o good_a of_o the_o world_n and_o have_v also_o the_o promise_n of_o life_n eternal_a this_o very_a love_n of_o patient_a suffering_n in_o this_o case_n can_v offend_v the_o mind_n of_o any_o but_o those_o that_o be_v prejudice_v by_o their_o lust_n those_o who_o will_v not_o do_v god_n will_v although_o sufficient_o propound_v to_o they_o 2._o as_o for_o those_o article_n of_o our_o faith_n that_o do_v not_o contain_v matter_n of_o practice_n since_o there_o be_v nothing_o of_o contradiction_n nothing_o at_o all_o of_o absurdness_n in_o they_o since_o those_o that_o declare_v matter_n of_o fact_n as_o that_o our_o lord_n live_v and_o die_v and_o rise_v again_o and_o send_v the_o spirit_n to_o his_o apostle_n be_v attest_v by_o universal_a consent_n of_o those_o that_o can_v not_o but_o know_v the_o truth_n and_o have_v no_o reason_n to_o abuse_v it_o since_o all_o the_o rest_n be_v clear_o confirm_v by_o evident_a and_o undeniable_a miracle_n there_o be_v no_o cause_n we_o can_v imagine_v why_o any_o man_n shall_v doubt_v or_o disbelieve_v they_o save_v only_a prejudice_n against_o the_o precept_n against_o the_o law_n of_o the_o same_o gospel_n wherein_o these_o doctrine_n be_v reveal_v so_o that_o whosoever_o be_v so_o dispose_v as_o that_o he_o be_v willing_a to_o do_v god_n will_v be_v under_o a_o effectual_a preparation_n to_o believe_v and_o entertain_v the_o gospel_n and_o life_n according_a to_o the_o law_n of_o christ_n be_v the_o only_a and_o certain_a way_n of_o attain_v to_o that_o bliss_n and_o happiness_n god_n have_v make_v we_o all_o of_o such_o a_o nature_n that_o we_o can_v forbear_v to_o love_v ourselves_o nor_o can_v that_o creature_n forbear_v to_o desire_v his_o own_o happiness_n that_o can_v forbear_v to_o love_v himself_o nor_o can_v the_o desire_n of_o that_o enjoyment_n wherein_o a_o man_n have_v place_v his_o happiness_n cease_v to_o urge_v and_o press_v endeavour_n in_o order_n to_o the_o attainment_n of_o it_o suppose_v we_o then_o that_o a_o man_n believe_v that_o true_a happiness_n lie_v in_o the_o purity_n and_o immortality_n that_o god_n have_v promise_v in_o his_o kingdom_n suppose_v he_o believe_v that_o a_o holy_a life_n be_v the_o only_a mean_n to_o attain_v this_o happiness_n suppose_v these_o thing_n fix_v and_o settle_v upon_o his_o heart_n by_o the_o operation_n of_o god_n spirit_n can_v we_o imagine_v but_o that_o the_o hope_n of_o such_o a_o end_n shall_v most_o effectual_o excite_v and_o move_v he_o to_o purify_v himself_o as_o god_n be_v pure_a will_v he_o not_o be_v content_a to_o resist_v his_o sinful_a lust_n and_o appetite_n subdue_v his_o inordinate_a inclination_n in_o consideration_n of_o such_o a_o happiness_n will_v he_o not_o be_v content_a to_o deny_v himself_o all_o the_o or_o so_o to_o live_v without_o the_o assistance_n of_o god_n grace_n and_o application_n to_o god_n for_o it_o or_o he_o reel_v and_o stagger_v in_o his_o hope_n and_o be_v not_o firm_a and_o stable_a in_o it_o some_o or_o other_o of_o these_o defect_n do_v always_o attend_v that_o hope_n which_o do_v not_o purify_v and_o reform_v the_o life_n and_o heart_n and_o spirit_n of_o man_n and_o that_o which_o i_o take_v to_o be_v the_o general_a and_o great_a defect_n in_o those_o that_o profess_v the_o christian_a faith_n be_v that_o they_o hope_v for_o life_n eternal_a without_o perform_v those_o condition_n whereupon_o it_o be_v promise_v in_o the_o gospel_n namely_o repentance_n and_o reformation_n although_o there_o be_v scarce_o one_o single_a page_n in_o the_o whole_a gospel_n wherein_o it_o be_v not_o express_o say_v or_o clear_o imply_v that_o no_o man_n shall_v ever_o be_v admit_v into_o eternal_a bliss_n and_o glory_n who_o do_v not_o yield_v sincere_a obedience_n to_o christ_n precept_n and_o purify_v himself_o as_o god_n be_v pure_a yet_o will_v they_o not_o see_v what_o be_v most_o visible_a they_o will_v not_o believe_v what_o be_v reveal_v they_o will_v trust_v to_o a_o fruitless_a liveless_a faith_n or_o to_o some_o penance_n and_o satisfaction_n and_o commutation_n make_v with_o god_n do_v what_o he_o have_v not_o require_v instead_o of_o what_o he_o have_v command_v no_o persuasion_n shall_v prevail_v to_o move_v and_o excite_v they_o to_o do_v this_o no_o reason_n argument_n or_o demonstration_n no_o not_o the_o express_a word_n of_o god_n
