all_o her_o path_n peace_n be_v not_o that_o just_a self-denial_n in_o one_o that_o say_v he_o will_v not_o take_v up_o a_o crown_n though_o it_o be_v lie_v at_o his_o foot_n but_o oh_o that_o curse_a some_o hour_n upon_o it_o according_a aâ—_n other_o necessary_a employment_n will_v permit_v and_o now_o have_v seek_v out_o all_o the_o note_n of_o these_o sermon_n which_o we_o can_v find_v from_o other_o hand_n and_o compare_v they_o with_o the_o copy_n abovemention_v we_o do_v again_o present_v they_o unto_o the_o lord_n people_n not_o with_o any_o confidence_n that_o our_o pain_n have_v which_o either_o may_v seem_v to_o be_v somewhat_o unpleasant_a or_o liable_a to_o mistake_n they_o shall_v not_o nâ—w_o be_v less_o edify_v nor_o less_o acceptable_a than_o former_o they_o be_v we_o do_v not_o think_v fit_a to_o make_v any_o considerable_a alteration_n â—â—â—o_v the_o method_n or_o other_o thing_n of_o that_o kind_n lose_v â—aply_o by_o strain_v his_o excellent_a purpose_n too_o much_o to_o shape_v they_o to_o the_o ordinary_a rule_n or_o to_o reduce_v they_o to_o that_o order_n which_o may_v best_o have_v please_v ourselves_o we_o shall_v have_v wrong_v the_o matter_n itself_o at_o least_o have_v put_v these_o to_o a_o loss_n who_o do_v hear_v he_o preach_v and_o it_o may_v be_v â—ow_o upon_o their_o read_a thing_n in_o that_o same_o order_n as_o they_o hear_v they_o will_v be_v the_o more_o ready_o bring_v under_o the_o impression_n of_o that_o liveliness_n power_n and_o weight_n which_o it_o may_v be_v former_o they_o feel_v upon_o their_o heart_n when_o he_o be_v speak_v if_o the_o method_n do_v not_o altogether_o satisfy_v some_o spirit_n or_o the_o explication_n seem_v not_o so_o fult_n or_o â—f_o they_o find_v some_o introduction_n which_o possible_o â—ead_a not_o in_o so_o close_o or_o seem_v not_o so_o sib_a to_o the_o subject_n of_o the_o sermon_n or_o haply_o now_o and_o then_o there_o be_v some_o little_a digression_n from_o the_o main_a purpose_n we_o shall_v desire_v that_o this_o may_v not_o at_o all_o be_v construct_v to_o be_v the_o author_n ignorance_n of_o rule_n and_o method_n or_o his_o want_n of_o ability_n in_o humane_a learning_n it_o be_v know_v to_o these_o who_o be_v best_a acquaint_v with_o he_o that_o he_o have_v indeed_o a_o scholastic_a spirit_n and_o be_v in_o read_v far_o beyond_o his_o age_n and_o gift_n of_o god_n whâ—_n in_o his_o great_a wisdom_n and_o certain_o for_o the_o good_a of_o his_o church_n do_v so_o order_n that_o there_o be_v somewhat_o singular_a and_o peculiar_a almost_o in_o every_o man_n way_n as_o to_o these_o thing_n 3._o for_o any_o thing_n we_o know_v he_o have_v never_o that_o high_a esteem_n of_o this_o or_o any_o other_o of_o his_o labour_n as_o to_o design_n though_o these_o thing_n be_v good_a in_o themselves_o and_o worthy_a to_o be_v look_v to_o in_o their_o own_o place_n yet_o for_o a_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n in_o all_o auditory_n and_o upon_o all_o occasion_n to_o pin_v up_o every_o purpose_n to_o such_o a_o method_n and_o insist_v into_o such_o a_o measure_n of_o explication_n and_o criticism_n upon_o word_n it_o be_v but_o to_o â—etter_n himself_o and_o to_o starve_v his_o people_n 5._o consider_v the_o dulness_n of_o the_o most_o part_n of_o hearer_n in_o this_o age_n and_o how_o hard_o a_o thing_n it_o be_v to_o awake_v a_o sleep_a and_o it_o may_v be_v not_o unfit_a to_o be_v imitate_v by_o other_o to_o begin_v or_o end_v all_o his_o sermon_n with_o a_o awaken_n word_n concern_v heaven_n or_o hell_n or_o judgement_n and_o the_o search_n and_o therefore_o i_o will_v tell_v you_o nine_o thing_n that_o death_n will_v try_v in_o thou_o 1._o death_n will_v try_v both_o the_o reality_n and_o strength_n of_o thy_o faith_n it_o may_v be_v easy_a for_o thou_o to_o keep_v up_o faith_n under_o many_o difficulty_n but_o death_n shall_v put_v thy_o faith_n to_o the_o great_a stress_n that_o ever_o it_o do_v meet_v with_o yea_o patience_n to_o a_o great_a trial_n therefore_o prepare_v before_o it_o 5._o death_n will_v try_v the_o reality_n of_o thy_o duty_n yea_o even_o these_o duty_n wherein_o thou_o have_v most_o satisfaction_n as_o thy_o communicate_v aright_o in_o such_o a_o place_n thou_o hope_v that_o be_v sure_a thy_o read_v the_o scripture_n at_o such_o a_o time_n aright_o thou_o hope_v that_o be_v that_o will_v not_o find_v six_o duty_n wherein_o they_o can_v find_v satisfaction_n at_o death_n therefore_o our_o need_n be_v great_a to_o prepare_v for_o it_o 6._o death_n will_v exceed_o try_v thy_o sincerity_n when_o it_o come_v a_o hypocrite_n may_v go_v all_o along_v his_o whole_a way_n undiscovered_a yet_o death_n may_v bring_v he_o to_o light_n and_o make_v it_o appear_v what_o man_n be_v impossible_a then_o for_o they_o not_o to_o esteem_v christ_n matchless_a and_o i_o will_v speak_v this_o likewise_o to_o many_o who_o be_v here_o have_v you_o not_o be_v live_v these_o ten_o year_n in_o faith_n and_o i_o will_v pose_v you_o with_o this_o esteem_v you_o not_o your_o idol_n more_o matchless_a than_o christ_n and_o more_o of_o worth_n than_o he_o it_o be_v impossible_a that_o there_o can_v be_v any_o lively_a exercise_n of_o faith_n and_o not_o esteem_n christ_n matchless_a it_o be_v not_o to_o say_v it_o with_o your_o mouth_n and_o contradict_v it_o with_o your_o heart_n will_v do_v the_o business_n for_o if_o your_o heart_n can_v speakâ—_n it_o will_v say_v i_o will_v sell_v christ_n for_o thirty_o piece_n of_o silver_n but_o my_o idol_n will_v i_o sell_v at_o no_o rate_n be_v there_o not_o many_o of_o you_o who_o love_v the_o world_n and_o its_o pleasure_n better_a nor_o the_o eternity_n of_o joy_n oh_o know_v you_o not_o that_o word_n o_o you_o desperate_o ignorant_a of_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n that_o he_o who_o love_v the_o world_n the_o love_n of_o the_o father_n be_v not_o in_o he_o and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o of_o the_o light_n of_o speak_v to_o god_n in_o prayer_n be_v his_o exercise_n he_o will_v speak_v less_o and_o wonder_v more_o we_o will_v be_v speechless_a when_o we_o go_v to_o god_n for_o often_o if_o we_o do_v speak_v reconcile_v with_o their_o conscience_n then_o to_o be_v reconcile_v with_o god_n their_o great_a aim_n they_o shoot_v at_o be_v this_o to_o get_v their_o conscience_n quiet_v though_o they_o know_v not_o what_o it_o be_v to_o have_v the_o soul_n comfort_v peace_n of_o god_n to_o quiet_v they_o v._o now_o there_o be_v this_o last_o evidence_n of_o faith_n that_o justify_v faith_n be_v a_o faith_n which_o put_v the_o christian_n to_o be_v much_o in_o the_o exercise_n of_o these_o duty_n by_o which_o it_o may_v be_v maintain_v for_o we_o must_v keep_v faith_n as_o the_o apple_n of_o our_o eye_n
