ourselves_o yet_o we_o must_v look_v high_a we_o must_v look_v at_o the_o honour_n and_o praise_n of_o god_n that_o the_o name_n of_o the_o bless_a god_n may_v be_v honour_v now_o i_o be_o go_v to_o prayer_n oh_o that_o i_o may_v pray_v so_o as_o i_o may_v lift_v up_o god_n name_n i_o be_o go_v to_o hear_v oh_o that_o i_o may_v hear_v so_o as_o god_n may_v be_v honour_v by_o my_o hear_n it_o be_v look_v to_o thy_o foot_n when_o thou_o come_v into_o the_o house_n of_o god_n eccle._n 5.1_o now_o for_o the_o sanctify_a of_o god_n name_n in_o draw_v nigh_o to_o he_o we_o shall_v endeavour_v to_o open_v it_o 1_o first_o in_o show_v you_o wherein_o the_o sanctification_n of_o god_n name_n consist_v or_o what_o we_o shall_v do_v that_o we_o may_v sanctify_v the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o draw_v head_n all_o that_o i_o shall_v speak_v about_o the_o open_n of_o the_o sanctify_a of_o god_n name_n will_v be_v contain_v at_o this_o time_n i_o shall_v only_o speak_v to_o the_o first_o the_o due_a preparation_n of_o the_o soul_n unto_o the_o duty_n of_o god_n worship_n therein_o consist_v a_o special_a part_n of_o the_o sanctify_a of_o god_n name_n in_o draw_v nigh_o to_o he_o and_o that_o it_o be_v so_o we_o find_v it_o in_o scripture_n that_o preparation_n for_o worship_n it_o be_v call_v the_o sanctify_a of_o ourselves_o and_o by_o find_v this_o in_o scripture_n it_o hint_v i_o upon_o this_o head_n to_o speak_v of_o the_o preparation_n unto_o worship_n in_o our_o sanctify_a god_n name_v because_o i_o find_v in_o scripture_n that_o the_o sanctify_a ourselves_o for_o worship_n and_o the_o preparation_n of_o ourselves_o for_o worship_n be_v all_o one_o i_o will_v give_v you_o these_o two_o text_n in_o 1_o sam._n 16.5_o you_o shall_v find_v there_o that_o samuel_n when_o he_o be_v send_v by_o god_n to_o anoint_v david_n in_o bethlem_n the_o text_n say_v i_o be_o come_v to_o sacrifice_n unto_o the_o lord_n sanctify_v yourselves_o and_o come_v with_o i_o tâ—_n the_o sacrifice_n prepare_v for_o worship_n it_o be_v to_o sanctify_v for_o worship_n and_o so_o it_o be_v one_o special_a thing_n that_o be_v require_v in_o our_o sanctify_v of_o god_n in_o our_o draw_v nigh_o to_o god_n to_o make_v a_o due_a preparation_n for_o his_o holy_a worship_n now_o for_o the_o orderly_a handle_n of_o thing_n 1_o first_o i_o shall_v show_v you_o that_o we_o must_v prepare_v for_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n 2_o second_o i_o shall_v show_v you_o wherein_o this_o preparation_n for_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n do_v consist_v 3_o three_o the_o excellency_n that_o there_o be_v in_o this_o infinite_a glorious_a dreadful_a majesty_n it_o be_v fit_a that_o we_o shall_v make_v preparation_n when_o we_o come_v nigh_o unto_o he_o therefore_o in_o exod_n 19.10_o when_o god_n come_v among_o in_o chr._n 22.5.14_o david_n make_v preparation_n for_o the_o house_n of_o god_n because_o it_o be_v the_o house_n of_o god_n that_o he_o have_v to_o build_v though_o he_o can_v not_o do_v it_o himself_o in_o his_o own_o time_n yet_o be_v the_o house_n of_o god_n what_o great_a preparation_n be_v make_v by_o david_n the_o moral_a of_o which_o be_v this_o that_o the_o house_n of_o god_n be_v a_o type_n of_o the_o church_n and_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n as_o well_o as_o of_o christ_n it_o show_v that_o there_o shall_v be_v much_o preparation_n when_o we_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o god_n in_o his_o ordinance_n second_o as_o god_n be_v great_a that_o we_o draw_v nigh_o to_o so_o the_o duty_n of_o god_n worship_n be_v great_a duty_n they_o be_v the_o great_a thing_n that_o do_v concern_v we_o in_o this_o world_n and_o it_o be_v a_o sign_n of_o a_o very_a carnal_a heart_n to_o slight_v the_o duty_n of_o god_n worship_n to_o make_v account_n of_o they_o as_o little_a matter_n carnal_a heart_n ordinary_o the_o thing_n that_o concern_v their_o business_n in_o the_o world_n they_o think_v great_a matter_n oh_o i_o may_v not_o neglect_v that_o i_o may_v not_o neglect_v that_o i_o may_v not_o neglect_v such_o a_o business_n or_o i_o may_v not_o neglect_v to_o visit_v or_o gratify_v such_o a_o friend_n but_o now_o for_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n it_o be_v good_a indeed_o but_o whether_o it_o be_v do_v or_o not_o it_o be_v no_o great_a maâ—ter_n therefore_o they_o can_v put_v off_o prayer_n if_o they_o have_v any_o business_n the_o time_n of_o prayer_n must_v pay_v for_o it_o they_o can_v put_v off_o that_o upon_o any_o slight_a occasion_n they_o do_v not_o account_v the_o duty_n of_o god_n worship_v great_a matter_n my_o brethren_n i_o beseech_v you_o learn_v sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n it_o be_v possible_a to_o keep_v the_o heart_n so_o close_o to_o god_n as_o to_o be_v fit_a for_o prayer_n and_o for_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o word_n and_o for_o receive_v of_o the_o sacrament_n every_o day_n or_o any_o hour_n in_o the_o day_n but_o this_o need_v a_o very_a close_o walk_v with_o god_n and_o communion_n with_o god_n and_o the_o truth_n be_v this_o be_v very_o rare_a most_o man_n let_v out_o their_o heart_n so_o much_o to_o other_o thing_n as_o their_o conscience_n can_v but_o tell_v they_o that_o if_o god_n call_v they_o to_o prayer_n at_o such_o a_o time_n in_o the_o day_n they_o be_v altogether_o unfit_a for_o it_o if_o they_o be_v call_v to_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n their_o conscience_n will_v fly_v in_o their_o face_n and_o tell_v they_o they_o be_v unfit_a for_o it_o but_o it_o be_v not_o so_o with_o those_o that_o walk_v close_o with_o god_n though_o they_o be_v in_o
why_o have_v we_o fast_v and_o thou_o see_v it_o not_o this_o be_v a_o argument_n that_o thou_o be_v act_v by_o self_n rather_o than_o by_o god_n second_o to_o know_v whether_o we_o be_v act_v by_o self-end_n or_o rather_o by_o high_a end_n for_o god_n those_o man_n that_o can_v rejoice_v in_o other_o that_o be_v able_a to_o honour_n god_n in_o holy_a duty_n more_o than_o themselves_o they_o in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n such_o a_o suitable_a behaviour_n there_o be_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o a_o man_n to_o it_o this_o be_v a_o honest_a heart_n so_o that_o there_o be_v those_o two_o thing_n when_o a_o man_n be_v square_a with_o god_n in_o one_o thing_n as_o well_o as_o another_o and_o when_o there_o be_v a_o sutableness_n to_o the_o behaviour_n of_o the_o soul_n to_o what_o excellency_n there_o be_v in_o the_o word_n when_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n will_v not_o abuse_v the_o word_n at_o all_o but_o behave_v itself_o honest_o according_a unto_o the_o gravity_n holiness_n and_o weight_n that_o there_o be_v in_o the_o word_n and_o thus_o now_o with_o such_o a_o good_a and_o honest_a heart_n we_o be_v to_o receive_v the_o word_n if_o we_o will_v sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o it_o 10_o a_o ten_o particular_a be_v this_o if_o we_o will_v sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o the_o word_n we_o must_v hide_v the_o word_n in_o our_o heart_n we_o must_v not_o only_o hear_v the_o word_n but_o keep_v it_o preserve_v it_o and_o then_o do_v we_o declare_v that_o we_o account_v the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o be_v worth_a something_o indeed_o for_o what_o be_v it_o to_o sanctify_v god_n i_o receive_v a_o thing_n that_o be_v of_o great_a value_n if_o i_o flight_n it_o and_o let_v any_o body_n take_v it_o from_o i_o i_o do_v not_o give_v a_o testimony_n to_o the_o excellency_n of_o that_o thing_n but_o if_o i_o take_v it_o and_o lock_v it_o up_o and_o keep_v it_o under_o lock_n and_o key_n i_o do_v thereby_o give_v a_o testimony_n of_o the_o esteem_n that_o i_o have_v of_o the_o
